china note 3 - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi i have a note 3 sm-n9008s which was left here by one of my exchange students im trying to find a way to put a new zealand rom on it but when i search the sammobile site with the model number i just get versions for china and im assuming that they all dont have any gapps would it work if i used the sm-n9005 version for my country thanks for your help

The phone was made for mainland China; therefore, Odin can't flash anything other than mainland China ROMs.

is there a way to add gapps to it though or a custom rom

Maybe through a custom ROM but that may not be enough.
Phones sold in mainland China do not have all Google apps, especially the Play Store.

root with Magisk, install custom rom, install smartpack kernel manager, install a root explorer and look for init.d folder, add captive portal fix to the init.d folder and set the permissions to 0755, then in smartpack go to the init.d and click on the portal fix, select execute, after that go to airplane mode for a couple of seconds and turn it off again, after this you should be able to access the google servers.
Good luck

Mainland Chinese ROMS have different changelogs, some recent regulations require locks and there are differences in some of the
components in the ODIN package (larger) could be something to watch you.
I bought a note 2 while in China, and then found there are no Google apps or market installed.
Can I just simply root and then flash say a UK Rom and I will be away, or do you mean that I might/won't be able to do this?
I really regret buying without doing more research about this at the moment.

Just search for Google play store apk and install it.
Make sure in security you allow unknown sources.

The google play store apk won't just install like most apps, it will just crash or stop working, this problem has been mention in other threads for other samsung phones from china and since this forum is international and most users are using the US, UK or international version phone, a custom rom may be hard to get by, you will get a better chance by searching through some of the chinese community forum.
good luck.
Hey, I'm thinking about buying the G9006v too. Will I be able to root and install a custom firmware?
I saw another post where someone who had a G900i was able to install g900f firmware. I am unclear as to the G900 versions and their compatabilities with other versions' roms

from what i found there is already a root for g9006v, in the chinese forum my chinese is kinda bad so couldnt much of it. I can give u the links if u want.
To anyone who is curious about checking out a Chinese forum for this phone:
http://bbs.gfan.com/forum-1443-1.html
You're required to register to see pictures and post replies to see links. Most of the ROOT methods look pretty much the same as what is going on here so far, so I guess they all trip knox. (I haven't figured out how important or unimportant that is ...)
I tried the following post:
http://bbs.gfan.com/android-7340315-1-1.html
and was able to use Odin to flash CWM and then get SuperSU. SuperSu said it disabled Knox, but when I checked (Vol-+Home+Pwr) knox has been tripped. Oh well.
I also got really thrown off by one part of the above instructions, to enter CWM after you flash it with Odin you need to press Vol++Home+Pwr not volume down.

[Q] Note 4 Chinese Variant Custom RoMs

I am looking for custom roms for the SM-N9108v which is similar to the N9109,N9100, N9106 models. All of which are Chinese variants.
Has anyone here enough Chinese language skill to have had much success finding RoMs that might be suitable?
Thanks in advance.

I skim over 52Samsung.com quite often as there's lots of work going on over there. However, you donate to become a member (which gives access to download links) so even if there was something available I'd only be able to link to something you can't get, unless you're in China and have also donated.

I take it you're in China since you're asking about the specific China Mobile carrier locked, single SIM model number.
Most obvious place to go is your local China Mobile store. Or jd.com and Amazon.cn also have them. Should be ¥5,199 more or less.
You don't need a custom ROM with Play Store pre-installed. Just use the root guides on here and flash Gapps yourself - it's pretty simple. And I hope you have a VPN!

1. Kinghu, thank you for the link. I will look into it and donations for it when work slows down a bit. Right now, I'm semi/happily making do with the Apex launcher for the next week, but I am itching to trial a custom RoM. I envy multi lingual users a bit. Must be great feeling to have access to the Chinese sites and to know which you can trust.
2. I know that I'll be staying China Mobile for at least a year - hence I selected N9108v - it is good advice that people make certain to get the right one. I am now using 4G for the first time after not having it on my HK purchased N9005.
3. Any more sites I can investigate - particularly like the MUIU RoM for Note3.
Cheers.
I think it'll be a while before full custom ROMs like MIUI appear just because the phone is so new.
My last Note was the dual SIM Note 2 (7102) and there were only really modded TouchWiz (stock) ROMs. Some were quite left-field!
Might be different though if you've a single SIM phone. I guess we all just wait and see.

Waouh ! The 32go variant
Same specs as N9100 except rom space
No need custom rom.
Option 1
You could try flashing N9100 HK variant via Odin. It has Google play
Please backup before (in case of problem you can roll back to your original rom)
Be aware : it could break your device
Option 2
install custom recovery (cwmr or twpr) then flash latest gapps package (search in xda)
Root is not needed for having play store

Yeah I have tried the gapps several times. I have twpr on it now. I am building a android test bed for working on roms. Good to know about it being the same as the n9100. I will see what I come up with. Another thing that is wierd is it will not update so when they finally release the andriod 5 for it I will have to do something. From what I saw the other day it has already bean leaked.

Hey, just wanted to say, I have the SM-N9108v. I rooted using Chainfire's CF-Auto root, worked great. Installed CWM recovery, worked great. I use X-note rom and it's great but for a few minor glitches. About to redo the entire thing using TWRP recovery and try another rom. The only thing you have to watch out for is the radio. China Mobile 4G LTE is a propietary frequency and if your radio changes you won't be able to use the 4G signal. China Unicomm uses the same regular frequencies as some north american carriers.
Just passing on what I've found out through trial and error.

Chinese Galaxy Note

Hi everone,
I just got a galaxy note 4 from China.
The issue is there is no google play and therefore i would like to install a American or European firmware.
Can someone help me please?
Thanks!
What CPU does it have?
If it has a MediaTeck CPU it's a fake Note 4.
It should have an Exynos or Snapdragon 805 CPU.
You could try downloading the gapps from Cyanogen mod, but I am not sure if it will work.
The main issue here is determining if your phone is legit. If it is, it should have come with Google Play and you should contact Samsung. If it's a knockoff phone, either send it back and get a legit one or try to find a gapps that will install for you.
the fake ones have play store so no. the chinese one doesnt come with google apps but you can install the play store apk instead.

I look in every week to see if someone turns up a rom for the N9108v - still no luck.
I assume you have the same phone as me if it is China Mobile and just the one sim slot. Not sure why you got it form China, as it's not exactly cheaper is it?
The following thread should be helpful:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/help/getting-google-play-store-international-t2920369/page4
You should unlock it.
Then you will need to put a new recovery via ODIN probably onto it.
Then you will need to use that recovery to flash a new updated GAPPs zip file.
Not a simple process if you don't know how, but very simple if you've done it a few times before.
Good luck .... oh ... and if you find any Custom roms for it, please let me know, k? Thanks

Didn't got the System Update App on my x722

Hi guys,
hopefully someone can help me here, cause the support can't...
About the Phone: Bought it from Geekbuying. It was shipped from Hong Kong to Germany. Installed Android is 6.0.1 and EUI is 5.8.020S, also Android Security Patch is from 1st August 2016. The phone isn't rooted or the bootloader isn't unlocked, too. Also TWRP isn't installed. So it's a fresh LePro 3 Elite. Like i said: I can't find the System Update option in the settings. I didn't know that much about ROMs so you guys have to answer in more details to me. I read something about "Shopping ROM", maybe this is what i got and I just need the original ROM from the Website?
I am already so sad because i can't find anything on the Internet and i think this is the last chance to get some good help here.
Thanks for the answers...
If you don't have system updates option in settings, and you have Google Play pre-installed, that means you have a factory installed shop ROM for international customers.
Stock ROM have system updates in the settings, no Google Play as Google is not available in China at all, and a ****load of pre-installed Chinese crapware...

Hm, that means if I install the Stock ROM from LeEco i won't get the Google Play Store automatically and many chinese apps?
And how about if I install a custom ROM?
That's right, stock ROM doesn't have anything Google in it (no Google account, no Play store...) and a lot of Chinese crapware. You need to install Google manually (via Google apps v2 apk for instance) and need to root the ROM to uninstall all the crapware...
You still can update by flashing zip. Power the phone while holding volume up, you'll go to stock recovery where you can flash stock rom.
I don't own a x722, and I think there isn't many custom ROMs for this model. Also I think a few had issue with stock ROM on this model. Checkout the x722 subforum.
Hm okay. Can you tell me a little bit in more details how I can flash update the device and which ROM versions should I download (5.9.0.23S or .26S)? Also I only found these ROMs for the x722 but theoretically it should work?!
Edit: After I flashed the new ROM I will got the System Update settings?
I don't know exactly as I never used the stock recovery: I flashed TWRP instead. I don't know if TWRP is available for x722 though.
And yes with stock ROM you have the System Update item in Settings.
Latest is 26s, but some people prefer 23s. I have stock 26s on my x720.
Okay thank you, maybe I wait for someone who got a x722 too.
Τhe procedure for updates is pretty much the same on all android phones, as ZeblodS wrote to you. You have to download the official rom from leeco website(http://bug.letv.com/cn/download/phone/80). But you need a download manager to download the rom, I think. Then you copy-paste the file into your phone memory and rename into "update.zip". Then you switch off the phone and press together power and volume up buttons. So you are into recovery, you choose update in the menu and then the "update.zip" file. Generally this is the procedure. In my opinion sheck out into many sites and find a detailed guide. Be careful because any mistake might brick the phone. I just describe a general guide to you. Do it at your own risk. Sorry for my english

No need to change the name of the file with TWRP, I didn't and it worked with my x720 each times (and I tried a lot of ROMs...)
Sorry for your infortune, are you sure you got the correct ROM for x722 and not the one for x720/x727?
So far I never bricked my phone by flashing a ROM, but I've read several topics on this forum about a tool named QFIL to save bricked LeEco phones. Maybe try to look this way, but I never had to use it so I cannot help you more with it unfortunately...
Soooo... I can't get into Recovery Mode (It Boots and it instant turned off). Also it stucks on the LeEco screen. I only can boot into Fastboot mode. I just downloaded the ROM from http://bug.le.com/cn/download/phone/80 with the JDownloader 2 and put it into the Internal Storage. After this I rebooted into TWRP, factory reseted the Phone and started to flash this ROM. Because of the factory reset Unlock-OEM from Developer Options is turned off.
Edit: The EUI before was 5.8.0.20S

Here is the stock 26s for x722: https://forum.xda-developers.com/le...0-1-eui-5-9-26s-leeco-le-pro-3-elite-t3642159
If you flashed a ROM for x720/x727 it's normal you have bootloop: they are not compatible with x722. That's why there's a specific subforum for x722 ROM (but only stock ROM seem to exist for x722, it's not a popular device...)

I saw that after answering. Sorry I don't know then... You seem to have done everything correctly.
In fastboot mode, can't you flash TWRP again?

Did you unbrick your phone? What happened?

No, unbricking in nearly impossible. I tried to flash the new firmware with TWRP. I downloaded the firmware from http://bug.letv.com/cn/download/phone/80 with JDownloader 2.
I think the last chance to unbrick is with the QFIL tool from Qualcomm, but for this I need some more files. I just wrote an email to the chinese support of LeEco (USA doesn't support the model!!). Let's hope they give me the correct files to unbrick it... Also I want to search for the right Handy repair store (No one wants to repair it...)
