Rear Flash use on 8 MP and 16 MP - LG V20 Questions & Answers

Wondering if anyone noticed the light bleed on the 8 MP when using the rear flash. Anyone else have this problem. I am thinking this is a design flaw. Attached is the same picture showing the issue. The issue is not there on the 16 MP.

Kinda funny, after I read this I noticed as well with the 8mp. The 16mp was fine as you stated.

Probably the shutter speed is different and lg didnt make the proper software adjustment.

Definitely a software bug that LG needs to fix.
Sent from my LG-H990 using Tapatalk

Dont think LG cares too much about bugs.
It happens on oreo too?

I think It may be because the flash is right next to the 8mp itself and that is the issue. Software will not fix as V20/V30 cam apps both do this.

If thats the problem, lg should lower flash intensity when using the 8mp cam.
There are phones with the flash near the cam without this problem.
It's just nonsense to leave it as is.
If you change the objects distance when taking the picture, the bleed will change. This is a sympton of an out of sync flash/shutter.

To further test I tried gcam as well and it did the same. So 3/3 so far lol. Your fix idea would make sense. At least it's only the 8 tho - with flash. If the 16...I would not be happy at all.

I not sure they would care. Might be fixed in later phones, but this is a no go for them. They will just say to update firmware blah blah. Only way for a possible software fix is if someone knew how to do that flash dimming for 8mp.
Maybe can Mcgiver it and put small piece of rolled tape between flash and 8mp and see if that helps. Just an idea.

Might be a flaw in the glass cover over your cameras. Mine has no such bleeding or reflection.

Mine works fine too.

Guess it does depend on glass type or phone model

What did theyend up doing. Mine is pink to unlocked bootloader
its not a defect. dont send back the phone, its obvious now its jsut how the camera is. I dont really care that much (in fact i dont care at all) because im not a big camera person and when I do take a picture with my phone im not going to expect studio quality anyway.

Released a hot fix since they said it was a software issue...
Seems now it's not
HD2 issue: http://www.gsmarena.com/a_hardware_fault_causes_htc_hd2_*pink*_camera_issues_confirmed-news-1276.php
Try turning off auto white balance.
No change.
lol i just noticed on engadget review, in the photos they took with the nexus one they have the same pink tint towards the middle
so everyone's nexus is having this issue?
So the N1 has pink eye?
I haven't received mine yet...we'll see here shortly...

The hot fix fixed my HD2, i took several photos of white walls and it had completely gone but it was VERY clear before the fix.
Mine does it as well
Someone tell Google and HTC, lol... No seriously..do it.
I just submitted a support ticket to google. I suggest you guys do the same. I linked this thread in the ticket.

Good man.. I'll do the same when I get my phone, lol...
it seems like a low light issue, not as noticeable with bright lighting.
Could just be the camera straining the ISO to a point where it makes the colors get weird. hopefully they can hot fix it

LG G2 OIS Camera problem: Ghosting and out of focus problems

We have 2 LG G2 phones in the house and recently I noticed one of them has had problems with about 80% of the photos looking blurry or having a ghosting effect. At first I thought it was the lighting conditions since I first noticed them during an indoor concert but after some additional testing I saw it was happening under different lighting conditions as well. Only very close macro shots consistently came out great but most others experienced the ghosting effect.
The interesting thing I discovered was that if I tapped or shook the phone and retook the same picture, it would usually snap the picture properly. The photos below were taken within seconds of each other to show what the before and after the "shake" did to the pictures. For the blurry pictures, I could see the ghosting on the screen while it was trying to focus. I also tried manual focus and although it looked clear for a brief moment, the ghosting would remain and is clearly seen on the clock and thermostat pictures below.
My other G2 does not experience this at all so hopefully it's just a bad phone but I'm curious if others have seen this with their G2.

I appear to be having a similar issue. Even a still image with no moving objects looks blurry. Not sure what the problem is. I have the D802 UK version.

I know exactly what you mean. At times it seems just part of the image is blurry or not in focus.

well, the last photo was better on the left one.
Can you get warranty for the left one ? Because there is something weird with it.

The last photo was just reversed. I received my warranty replacement and the new phone works perfectly. I was even able to get some really good low light photos during our weekend blackout.

I have the same problem. Most pictures out of focus. I thought this camera was supposed to be good...
Camera MX also has its issues, but seems to work better...
Video on the other hand just flat out doesn't produce viewable videos. Its always trying to focus during the video. Really disappointed in this phone.

I'd replace the phone under warranty as that's not the normal behavior. Both my wife's and my new replacement G2 take perfect pictures now. It's interesting that the whole reason I switched from my HTC One to this phone was because the the famous purple picture issue and the first one I get has the ghosting image issue . All good now though.

Camera setting - Enable video stabilization

Hi guys,
Does your Nexus 6P have an option to enable video stabilization on camera setting?
My friend has the option on his Nexus 6p but mine hasn't. We got exactly same model.
screenshot or it didn't happen
Mine has it. Did you get the latest update that just came? It may have been in there.

Honestly... no clue. I got the device today as I was on my way to work. I barely had a chance to play with it (read: I screwed up the unlocking/rooting process so left it at home) but definitely noticed the stabilization option wasn't there today.

I don't think so.
When I enabled video stabilization, I noticed the screen's FOV being reduced. Is it just using Youtube's stabilization method of taking a smaller rectangle out of the full frame and shifting it around? If it's using that method, I might as well turn it off and let Youtube handle it if needed, while still having the full-sized video.
Edit: Like in this comparison video of the 5X and 6P, you'll notice the 6P side is slightly zoomed in. youtu.be/HV4rcFuUlUc?t=240
Nothing here yet.
My phone also does not have the option under camera. My Marshmallow is also up to date.

It looks like the quality really suffers when the stabilization is on. You can clearly see that it is less bouncy but it also has weird jello effect.
Does anyone know why some phones have this feature and some dont?
I don't have the option and my phone says that there are no software updates available.

It was a statement officer.
I can see more improvement to autofocus, less over sharpening effect, better image quality when zooming.
One bad thing I noticed regarding stabilization magnets. They seem not to hold the sensor when using the phone. Lens makes a lot more noise [rattling] even though I'm not using the camera. Very annoying.
Not sure if it's a defect on my unit or something that this update caused.
I'll try to shoot a short video in a different thread about the issue.
new firmware already released in China ATD1 with more improvements
waiting for it in EU.

That was noticed by a number of people as soon as the phone was launched, it's annoying to have that rattle if you shake the phone but it seems standard and not a fault.

Yes totally aware about the rattling noise due to IOS. But after the update it seems louder than before. Is it due to the zoom improvement via firmware? Not sure.
In any case I think it should be easy to develop a tiny app to activate the magnets at all time (same as when opening the camera app). Might drain the battery a bit but that rattling is very annoying. I'm ok to trade 5% of battery drain to suppress the noise.
Those of you who got the ATCT fimrware update on exynos, can you try something out?
Pls take a pic of a white wall, indoor, dim indoor lighting, using night mode. Does it come out darker than it is or looks normal?

Camera Lens Flare

Anyone else getting this in photos where theres a bright light the side? Would be suggestive of poor anti glare coating on the lens.
Sent from my IN2023 using Tapatalk
Example ..... The green circle on the shed doesn't exist and is the lens reflected in the photo. Another example showing the shed without the ring but with the flare.

Lens Flare + Frodo Ring
Hi,
we have two problems as far as I can understand it.
1. Lens flare (on bright lights, causing the rays)
2. Frodo-Ring (the golden ring, caused by sunlight from the side about 90° angle)
I have extracted 3 pictures from the frodo ring from the oneplus forum over there.
I assume we are the same guys https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/problems-with-cam.1218969/
Also this strange effect from night light.
Sent from my IN2023 using Tapatalk
Question is how much of this is "normal" how much are all cameras on the OP8pro affected by this ? Is it a faulty design ? Not all my photos have these effects,it's only in certain lighting conditions. If I RMA will the replacement be like this?
Sent from my IN2023 using Tapatalk
Maybe Oneplus will do a statment soon? Maybe it can be fixed with an update?
My device is going back, really loved it. But this is not good.... Not at that price tag, sorry
Since finding the threads about lens flaring I'm now spotting it all the time on my 8 Pro main camera
The ultrawide doesn't seem to be affected anywhere near as, bad but even watching TV it's still visible.
Really want to like this phone but OnePlus haven't made it easy!
I've had none of this, wipe your camera lens lol it's not as bad as some others.
This happens if it's smeared with grease etc.

Ok then it's your lens mate, I do not have this like I said. Not at all.
I've had devices like the HTC 10 which is the mother of all devices to have glare and flares. I don't see that on the device. Even the P20 pro had it, it's one of my major gripes with phone cameras, it's completely not noticeable to be on the Pro
Flare
Guys did anyone find a fix? Do all OnePlus have these?
It's so bad unable to take may night shots with street lamps and no day light shots in sun
---------- Post added at 04:58 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:56 AM ----------
Any solution for this? It's so bad near street lights and in the sun
