I used to get different notification sounds for some apps like 5miles, OfferUp, and Letgo. Now on the OnePlus 6t I get one notification sound for all apps. These apps don't have a setting to change the notification sound. Any ideas?

I have had a Nexus S 4G for a while and I'm getting a lot of notification noises whenever the 4G signal is lost or acquired and just getting random notification noises overall. Is there a way to turn these sounds off on the stock ROM or is there a ROM that allows control over all notification sounds? It seems like the stock ROM only allows one notification noise for everything pretty much.
Have you tried going into each individual app and check everywhere in your settings app? For each app and section (most) there should be a place to check/uncheck notification sounds. You could also try a market search for something relevant :\?
This is confusing, using either the stock app or a different messaging app if the notification sound is different than the default. Such as the default notification sound is Whisper but I set in the SMS app to be Good News. If the screen is off it plays Whisper THEN Good news back to back. But if the screen is on it doesn't do that.. I rebooted and it stopped but then came back. wtf
This only seems to happen if the screen is OFF if the screen is ON it doesn't happen..
Edit: I think i found the issue. Device -> Accessibility -> Notification Reminders - Had this on but only to alert after 10min but it seems to be bugged and causes two alerts at the same time.
I'm not sure if this is an LG or Nougat thing, but it's seriously annoying. Whenever I use the phone and I get a notification of any kind, it pops down from the status bar (why can't it just go straight to the 2nd screen???) and persists for a few seconds unless I action it or dismiss.
Is there a setting within notifications or apps themselves to make them go straight to the 2nd screen?

Mine pop into the 2nd screen. What app is causing it? I know Textra was doing that until I disabled the pop up notification

Snapchat and Whatsapp are examples. What sort of notification settings do you have? Are you silencing any apps?

Not silencing anything, I just adjusted the Textra to not show the floating reply.
I don't use Whatsapp so can't speak to any settings in there and my Snapchat I have set to Vibrate only(turned wake screen off). Don't get a lot of Snapchat chats so never noticed if its a pop up notification or not

Weird - I found out that "Silencing" notifications is the only way to get them to not pop up... but then I don't get a vibrate.
System UI is a "hidden" feature of Nougat that LG decided to axe, which is extremely frustrating because it has the EXACT functionality someone needs to have full control over their notifications.

Yeah I want that system UI because in it you can do percent in battery notification so it's not next to the battery
It actually started with Marshmallow and was pretty popular due to the simple tweaks it can do that everyone wants. Unfortunately it seems to be more of a carrier issue with disabling it. Regardless, disabling peeking should be a basic option in settings from day 1. Not a super hidden feature in Andriod M and a above with no guarantee of staying. Textra is nice enough to have its own setting. Why other apps do not is baffling.
Someone finding a way to get to the System UI tuner settings would be amazing. As it is now there doesn't seem to be a way to turn off ONLY peeking/heads up notifications that I have been able to find. Maybe HeadsOff will be compatible with N before long.
I can't reply to any notifications in my notifications panel. How do I turn it back on?
When I have a default notification sound set in my S8, I get a ton of notification sounds, but nothing in the notification bar. It's extremely annoying. I turned off all the app notifications I could, but it didn't help.
I also tried Do Not Disturb with custom exceptions so I would only get notifications for the apps I want, but they are still silent.
Is there a third party app that will mimic what Samsung's DND is supposed to be doing or a way to shut off the phantom notifications?
I'm really starting to hate this phone. For several reasons.

Hello,
I have not had the same issue as you but I've definitely had problems with things syncing on time or out of order. I'm sure you already have, but be sure to dig deep into phone notification settings but individual app settings as well to see if anything is off. If you run the internal app closer, does the issue still occur? Worst case scenario, you could factory reset your phone and see if that corrects the issue.
Hi! I was wondering, is there any way to turn off the sound on notifications for all apps (like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube etc) but still have the phone ring when someone calls me? I have either WiFi or data on all the time, and I get lots of notifications that aren't that urgent. I would like those to vibrate, but have the phone ring, since usually calls are more important than a YouTube video notification, for example. I couldn't find any way to do so in the settings nor did I find a third party app to help with my request. Any advice would be much appreciated
I would say that the most easy way is to create a sound file with total silence and use it as the default notification sound. Some apps have separate notification settings, you might need to disable sound (or select the same "silent sound") in the app itself.
If you want more customization options, autonotification app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joaomgcd.autonotification&hl=en) is your friend
If you just long press it in the notification bar when it arrives you can set up exactly the type of notification you want from that app, it does not take log and as time goes by you get less and less, some you might want a special sound others vibrate, some show in status bar others not, its custom for each app.
