Hi, i have a snapdragon samsung s8 from Europe and i want to try and root it and flash Android Pie on it. However i noticed that in every guide it mentions Exinos s8 phones, does that mean that mine is not eligible? If it is, do you know where i can find a guide on how to root it?

The only snap from that region is from China. Which is rootable. If it's a U.S. snapdragon g950u. If it's above bootloader revision 2 then no.
5 number from the last on the firmware is the revision number

So mine is at 4? (Which means that it cannot be rooted?)
It says in the software info that the current version is: G950FXXU4CRI5/........4CRI5/......4CRI5
That is exynos edition lol.

No the exynos is the one sold in Europe. If it's truly a G950F which is Europe s8 yes can be bootloader unlocked and rooted.
G950u is U.S. snapdragon
G950f is Europe exynos
And some weird like g9550 or something for Chinese snapdragon

Root yes, twrp no.
It's really a shame that Qualcomm's secure boot actually lives up to its name in Qualcomm's latest bootloaders! That's the US Snapdragon S8/S8+ problem. All the international S8/S8+ people get to enjoy their TWRP and custom kernels, etc., but not the US.... Such a shame. https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/help/carrier-to-samsung-publish-bootloader-t3667125

Chances are there won't be root for Oreo on snapdragon. Unless we get ENG files for Oreo, which so far is unlikely. There is a row though that has Xposed running without root, so there's that at least

Yeah Samsung have been doing this on a couple of the previous iteration of the devices, think from s6 or something. My advice and something I do personally as I have always ran modded phones for over 10 years and I plan to play around with is just do a little research, it's something that I find people tend to look over, not to take a poke at you or anything like that, I just see it happening a lot. But anyhoo, if you're looking for a phone which you can customize, having an unlockable bootloader is important and aslong as it has a snapdragon bootloader you more than likely will find working builds, I suppose the pixel is one route, or the one plus series of phones.
Thanks. I missed both s6and s7 . I went through 3 S5s lol. Liked the fact that I could swap batteries instead of having to plug it in to charge and the dimensions were more ergonomic for me. But even with the s5 I remember the Att version was not rootable.
Product managers think people will put up with the most personal gadget they own being turned into a cheesy invasive marketing vehicle. All that desperate bloatware and "personalization" settings turn what could be a beautiful product into something obnoxious.
Shame. I guess I'm done with Samung.

These devices have signed bootloader they cannot be hacked if you dad was such a good programmer he would've told you the they use Sha 256 encryption 3 keys and totally unhackable by modern day PC's. Not currently. There are people working on it so maybe in the future.
That's incorrect, there are Custom ROM'S and Root available for S10 Snapdragon however it needs to be Latin America or Hong Kong variant. Can't be done on any US devices.

Or is there a range of firmwares i can check for to make sure i will be able to root it when i get home? i def want to be able to root my new phone but last time when i got my new s8 ans s9 the firmwares were pre updated and i was unable to root either of them. Thanks in advance for any help!
None of the US models can currently be rooted and as far as I'm aware the international models aren't compatible with Sprint since it's a CDMA carrier.
If root is important to you then you should probably look at purchasing a different phone.

That's why you shouldn't buy an US version. I'm from Germany and I'll never buy a mobile phone from there anymore. Especially not from Samsung. My actually galaxy s10+ is from Hong Kong. Waited 2 weeks for it. Snapdragon 855 instead of exynos. Bootloader unlocked, rooted.
Just check if baseband frequencies are supported. There is a cool app out there called spectify. Check it out

Hello All,
TO be crystal clear, this is for HK\China\Taiwan version of the device. Snapdragon bootloader unlockable.

Following all the other guides, unlock bootloader etc. you extract the boot image, change to tar, patch it with magisk, flash in Odin via AP, boot immediately in recovery, factory reset, and voila, boot up and you are good to go.
