Is there anyone who can tell me how to fix my internal storage problem? I am currently on crdroid 8.1 ROM but it just showing me 9.5 GB of current internal storage in every file manager but it shows 13.55 GB of internal storage in settings. I am not able to find the missing 3 GB. Someone please help me!
Ps - sorry for bad English.
Really I just filled 7 GB and 2gb free total 9 GB but why file manager just showing 11 GB of internal storage? And what the heck is settings showing?

Likely not a "bug". Device has 16GB of addressable (writeable) storage but not all of that is available for your use. Typically 10-11GB is set aside for user data including apps; rest is reserved for the rom and other system files, bootloader, kernel, modems, etc.

Likely reflects the total space used in the system + data partitions.

Hi Guys,
I have a Defy Plus with DFP-231 Asian Retail version ROM. I had some memory cleaning widget which shows that my applications could use a total of 350 MB memory.....
I thought that the D+ came with 2 GB internal memory so I could load upto ~2GB of games(apps) running. ...:crying:
With all this confusion...
My Question is : What is the Difference between The RAM and ROM and Why is my widget showing only 350 MB usable for apps???
Kindly correct me If I'm wrong in my assumptions.
Cheers,
Vic
do not confuse ram with rom. rom is the storage which stores installed apps and system files, its like the hdd in a pc, and it keeps its content when powered down.
ram is a temporary storage from where apps run, and it clears after a power-down. (memory in a pc)
the defy has 2gb built-in storage (rom), from which 1.2 is usable for apps, and it has 512MB ram (around 470-480 usable).
you probably have a lot of apps installed, thats why the widget shows only 350mb remaining.
Thank you for clearing this

Hi,
Thank you very much for clearing this.. So does that mean when I install apps to my phone instead of SD card they get installed in RAM and not ROM????
Cheers,
Vic

umm, no. they get installed in rOm, thats the permanent storage, ram is temporary. although there are solutions to install apps to sdcard. (app2sd, data2sd)

Usable for Apps means memory that can be used to store apps permanently.. It is the available ROM on your device. As stated before the 2GB memory is shared by OS & Apps.
RAM (512 MB on defy+) is temporary and is cleared on reboot and other activities.
Hello everybody, i have a i9500 phone, with crash rom installed..
Here is the question,
In the storage section,
All Storage is 8,8
Apps are 2.9 GB
Photos, videos are 125 MB
Audio is 496 KB
Downloads is 114 MB
And the others are 44 and 70
But it says usable storage is 1,09
As you see, usable storage should be at least 4-5 gb,
Why is it like this and what should I do?
Tried flashing other roms like cm11 and phoenix, but no help.
Wiping data doesn't help either.
What should I do?

U can go check in settings -> more -> storage -> misc and see there can b thumbnail files with 100s mb of size u can delete that. Its not going to harm your real photos. Plus if u hv a backup there like Titanium or nandroid u can delete that too to increase space
If none works
Thn there is always external SD

Did you guys solve this?
Anyone know how to fix this?
I was on custom rom, I had this problem. Now i'm back to stock but still 2 GB missing.
Solution
Alright finally fixed it. With ES file explorer I went to mnt > shell > 0 > Android > obb. Apparently, there were 2 game files that should've been deleted but for some reason they were there.
So yeah whatever it is, it can be found with root file explorers and can be deleted, you just gotta search.
Worth noting: if you've ever made a backup via recovery (cwm), it will eat up a good 3-4gb.

Yes but it would be seen in the storage info under miscellaneous category. The problem here was that some of the memory was missing without any info as to what's using it.

No, it doesn't show up on misc. Titanium backup will be listed, but not if you backed up using recovery. The back up I'm referring to is of the phone in its entirety which can be between 3-6gb.
Missing space?
Currently on omega v41 (lollipop)
Under system settings, storage, it shows me:
Used space: 6.35gb
When I click on that though, it shows me:
Apps: 1.81gb
Pictures/videos: 409mb
Audio:60kb
Downloads: 61mb
By my counting that's about 4gb of space missing... any idea?
download disk usage from play and it will tell you. great little app. I just recovered 7.5 gb of useless junk from my phone memory.
My internal storage max space was 16 GB.
In custom ROM cm13 it shows 10Gb as max and cm 13 ROM uses 300 mb.
How to get my 16gb internal storage space

Download Disk Info from play store and study your phones partitions. You can set an expert view to see them all.

Is this your first phone?
This is how it works. Don't worry about it. You don't want to mess with your partitions, unless you want a bricked phone.

You can't. You never had the full 16 GB.
From the 16 GB, the user only gets 8-9 GB to use for apps, music, photos etc.

If I got 8 - 9 gb of storage, then why phone is showing that 7 gb free of 8gb but only 5 gb data on storage including all folders on device.

Actually that ~9.1GB is the "correct storage". Yes, you only have that much space available for your data in your internal storage. It happens for a couple of reasons. First is that the device doesn't actually have 16GB, but a bit less, since the calculation of storage is in bits, and 8 bits == 1 byte. Your phone has 16,000,000,000 bytes, but actually 16GB is 17,179,869,184 bytes, as you can see, you have almost 1GB less than you actually should. Now to the real problem. The partitioning of the device.
Samsung allocates a lot, I really mean A LOT of memory to system. So from that ~15GB you had left, you have ~1.1GB allocated to system, ~2GB allocated to cache (which IMHO is stupid, since it never even got to 500MB in my phone and most real cache data is stored in data partition), that gives us ~12GB left, then there are some other partitions which I don't recall myself now that will occupy those other 12GB, leaving only 9.1GB left to your actual usage.
Hope I didn't mess up any part up there haha.
All the best,
~Lord

I don't exactly understand what your issue is, but this should definitely shed some light on the S4 partition sizes.
