Recently upgraded to a Galaxy S5 and was able to flash Lineage OS 15.1 and a GApps package with no problem. But what I found is that every time Lineage OS updates I get a spam of notifications saying something along the lines of "[app name] won't work without google play services, which aren't currently installed". Is there any way to remedy this or do I just need to re-flash GApps every time I update?

UNLESS asked to do so, PLEASE don't PM me regarding support. Sent using The ClaRetoX Forum App on my SM-G900T device.
you should always specify the exact model device you are talking about, which os builds, which gapps package, and sequence of how you are flashing.
works just fine on my sm-g900t with all so far through LOS 15.1 2018-11-12 and opengapps nano 2018-11-13, and i typically would install LOS weekly with maybe monthly gapps since that is auto-updating through play store anyway.
for thoroughness, as i recall when i was flashing the rom updates (making sure to get the current twrp 3.2.3.0) i'm preter sure there were some scripts that autorun to preserve stuff like opengapps and magisk.
and anyway, i'm probably switching to monthly for LOS and maybe quarterly for gapps, since i'd rather just get the security rollups and reduce wearing out the internal flash storage faster.

Hi,
I couldn't find any thread relating to my current issue with Lenovo Zuk Z1 (running on LOS 14.1, release Mar.21, 2017). After installing the first official LOS 14.1 everything was pretty good (except the 2nd Sim slot bug) until I tried updating Los from update section which gone into TWRP loop. Somehow restored with QFIL but the firmware that was available, a COS 12.1 Preview version . So flashed LoS 14.1 official 2nd release one more time and after booting the fingerprint lock option was gone. The button is working for all the functions which are triggered by pressing the button. No touch based functionalities.
Need help/suggestions.
P.S: Tried removing credentials, not worked in this case.
me too having the same problem.

Just resolved yesterday. Flashed unofficial Los 14.1 where fingerprint worked previously, rebooted then reflashed the Official Los 14.1. fingerprint is back. I think people with similar issue can either flash the zui firmware where fingerprint worked and then flash los, afresh. Thanks for replying.[emoji18]

Check this link ...30.1.2017 file. Before Lineage team released the Official version I used this unofficial one which worked fine. Only thing that neither the unofficial nor the Official version addressed is the Sim2 slot for calls.

Yes, Wipe dalvik, cache, syestem and data... don't wipe internal storage. I use TWRP recovery. Flash Los unofficial. Don't need to flash Gapps first. Reboot.
Do a quick setup. Fingerprint option should come. Then copy the Official Los file and Gapps (Arm 7.1) into your internal storage and go to recovery repeat the entire process of wiping and flashing los, only with official version this time. Flash Gapps (stock version will be good)
U will find a loads of articles on how to flash a custom rom on xda forum or search on YouTube. I can't post any external link yet. Sorry for that.

So I found out today that LineageOS 15.1 has started rolling out builds to some devices. Here's a link to the article and which devices are first in line! The shamu isn't on the list, but will hopefully be coming soon!

It's not an unofficial build of LineageOS. It's just some stuff he managed to compile from my sources. I'd rather not use it as NFC is horribly broken.

Oh man I'm sorry, I wasn't aware of that. I just flashed it yesterday poked around a bit and went back to screw'd. I just wanted to see if it was close to the release notes. It was a build from a few days ago. Its the one named unofficial. Lineage.15.1 on afh ..can't wait for your build though

@Elektroschmock Is there any place where we can track the development progress of LOS 15.1 for the Nexus 6? I know that there's the LOS Gerrit, but for those of us who don't really know what work needs put in to porting Android to an officially-unsupported device, it isn't very revealing.
And of course, thanks for all the time and hard work you put in to keeping our shamus alive!
Hi,
Installed Lineage 15.1 Beta 3 with open GApps Arm /8.1 /Stock.
1. Dialer there is no Graphic when somebody calls, no way to pick up or hang down the phone.
For the workaround I used is , the ON, OFF button and volume control to operate the phone.
2. Lock screen when playing Music is freezing.
workaround, turned off Musik Visualisierung.
thats so far all.
Thanks for All the work.

For #1 make sure you have the phone app set as the default Settings>Apps>Configure Apps>Phone App (might be slightly different for 8.1)

15.1 is on the shamu nighties now.
Is there root available to 15.1? Thanks!
There is a Howto on lineageroms but I found that coming from a rooted 14.1, SuperSU from the Playstore does the trick much easier.
The 14.1 addonsu definitely did not work for me.

First off, hats off to the LineageOS devs for this ROM. Everything works, but there are some bugs
1. The call history is perpetually empty, it does not keep track of call history (at least on my device)
2. The wifi gets selective about apps with internet access when I am connected for long enough, whatsapp and other IM apps stop working and require a restart.
3. The bluetooth as well has some issues. Bluetooth audio works perfectly as well as bluetooth LE but file transfers (at least for me) require a restart.
This is what I did about the twrp password problem. I used a mixture of ideas from the kind people here. Hooked N6 to my laptop with adb functional in developer settings. I had all the files in a folder on the laptop desktop. Booted to recovery. I did a full wipe including storage. I formatted data like many suggested. This is an important next step. Reboot recovery to verify the password is not required. I did and password request was gone. My phone storage now showed on my PC with twrp booted. I created a download folder on my phone and transferred Lineage 15,
Gapps, and magisk. Rebooted recovery one more time to verify password was gone and files were available. Installed all and rebooted system and all is well. Thanks everyone for the guidance.
Think were April Screwed.... No 15.1 LOS Update as of 4/9
April Screwed!
Guess the crappy April Fools joke goes a step further, apparently they did even bother with the Vendor key for the image they uploaded as a joke and I suspect there will be no official LOS 15.1 support for the Nexus 6. I was hoping to see a weekly update with at least that fixed, the fact that I don't makes me wonder if we are abandoned by LOS.
P.S. Ya that TWRP password crap and the encryption breakage was total BS as well.

There is an official thread and it is officially supported. Look in the original Android development section of the nexus 6 forum
Does anyone know how can i login to google after the latest lineageos (official) update?
i didnt even install magisk first cause i wanted to access my google account,
but then again i cant even access it normally.
i am using G900I (kltedv)
What exactly is the problem? Why can you not log into Google? I am using 15.1 KLTEDV and mine works fine.
The problem should be with the GAPPS, was there no error during install(dirty/clean), cos this happens only in serious cases, mostly people get the recurring Play Services error msg, if any.

I would just reflash gapps - Personally I always use the nano gapps as its the smallest whilst giving full functionality
If the problem persists clear the data of all google apps - eg google play services
Hi all,
Sorry, I never know whether I should post this kind of thing in the General section or Troubleshooting...
I'm looking for up-to-date advice. What, in your opinion, is the most stable and smooth custom rom available. I'm looking for something as recent as possible, preferably Nougat +, but could be MM if necessary.
The phone is going to be used by my mother-in-law so doesn't need any fancy customization, just reliability and performance.
Thanks!! :good:

Thanks for that. I presume I can find that rom on xda?
--------------
Is it this Lineage rom?:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-z1-compact/development/rom-t3657384
Yup thats it
I used munjenis los 14.1 and switched to AICP 13.1 Oreo. It has up to date patches and is in my opinion currently the best up to date rom. Camera is also fine for me.
hi all! i tried oreo yesterday and all of google (esp. play store & play services) didn't work. tried older versions via apk but no success. without play store makes no sense. anyone an idea why it works for jho55 but not for me (d5503)? and jho55, why did you switch; only for newer version or other reasons? could you give me d/l link to the exact aicp rom u used? at aicp rom it says that there is an issue with oreo on z1c and video recording; does that work on your device? thx&greets, volkbaad
EDIT: found out myself now that i need gapps, too in order to take benefit of google. i work a lot on pc's but up to now not on android, esp. custom roms. it's a bit confusing at first sight; but i'm learning...
It is very important that you follow the instructions posted in the thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/so...development/rom-aicp-13-1-o8-1-amami-t3755554
I am using the rom because I want to have the newest security updates, a fresh android, root access(adblock, firewall). Video recording is working for me.

IT WORKS!!!
At first try I used GApps "super" (14.5.81; 900 MB) and guess I didn't clear all cache and data. This obviously ended up in a mess with old Google Play files and new OS. Second time I cleared system, data, cache and dalvik cache before flashing new ROM, rebooted into normal OS and back into (TWRP) recovery before I flashed GApps "micro" (14.8.xx; 300 MB). "Super" and "mini" had some apps which were unfunctional; and if included in package you cannot uninstall and manually reinstall them, so smaller GApps version is safer.
This time the new install became functional w/o any problem. There was even no need to search and installe older version of GApps, as reported elsewhere.
Maybe this is helpful for other Z1C owners. In the thread mentioned above seemingly not every necessary detail is mentioned.
I think the instructions are pretty straight forward from there it says "How to flash:".
I'm not decided yet. For me it's either AICP 13.1 (oreo) or 115ek's LineageOS 15.1 (Oreo). Both are very stable and suitable for every day useage. And they are maintained in regards to security updates
Pro AICP: some really nice features and add-ons (e.g. theming, nice recent apps solutions, extended phone settings and customizations etc.). Together with some optimzing apps (LSpeed, SysConfigPatcher) battery consumption is ok
Pro LOS 15.1: in my opinion a tad faster and and more efficient in reagrds to battery consumption; rather reduced, but I kind of like that
munjeni's LOS version is great (had that running for over a year) but a bit aged now
I've had LOS 14.1 installed for a while and it seems pretty good, however it seems to have some significant bugs. The big one is that Google Duo doesn't work properly- the mic doesn't work so calls are pointless. Dues anyone else have this problem? Or can anyone give me a ROM where Duo definitely works?
Mic volume in general is pretty quiet.
Duplicate: DELETED
I have the Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G930T which runs android 8.0 with the firmware G930TUVS8CRL1. I believe I have found the right root files and tools, and now I just need a custom rom. I really like to try Lineage, and I have downloaded version 14.1, but it says it is for Android v 7, and I like to try Lineage version 15.1. I found the Jenkins site for Lineage, but I do not see an option for searching. I need help either making sure that version 14.1 of Lineage works fine after I root the phone, or how do I get a custom rom that works with my handset's software please.
I am also open to other ROMs. Please give me suggestions.
Also, does anyone know which version of twrp I will need?
Last but not least, Lineage instructions asked me to check the CPU architecture on my phone with an app, but I could not find the icon for CPU. Instead the apps says I have a Qualcomm snapdragon Kryo, which Wikipedia says it is Arm64. I need this to download the right version of GAPPS.
I just realized I posted to the incorrect group, would someone please move this to the T-Mobile Q&A please? I have looked, and do not see an option for doing this.
Thanks
