[Q] Auto connect as media device and wifi switcher

Is there any way to get this phone to automatically connect as a media device when I plug it into a PC?
Also, is there an app or mod that can turn off my PIN lock when connected to trusted wifi networks or bluetooth devices?
I know there's bluetooth and wifi unlocker but it's not compatible with the note 3 as far as I know.
I know tasker can probably do it, but I just can't wrap my head around that app. None of the profiles/settings I make ever do anything.

Freedompop Hotspot

Hi guys,
I have a carjoying unit with a rk3188
I currently have a freedompop phone giving wifi access to my head unit based on when it's charging using tasker and putting it in airplane mode otherwise. This works great and gives me about 15-20 days without turning my car on before the phone will die.
However, if I were to want to eliminate the need for an extra phone sitting in my car, which freedompop dongle will work with the device?
I specifically want a hands-off approach where I don't have to worry about battery levels. So, having the unit power on and off with the car is needed.
Is there a freedompop device that is compatible with the usb ports on the android head units? OBD II would be preferable, but I doubt freedompop is going to have those anytime soon.

Hi, I use a straightalk hotspot. It is solely for wifi access to the HU. It is plugged directly to the usb so it gets power whenever truck is on. It doesn't broadcast SSID for security, runs WPA/2 , set for short range and powers off when wireless stops requesting after 30 minutes. I control the access by selecting wifi on or off so to save on data usage. I got 4Gigs for 2 months for $40.
I would recommend selecting one of the freedompop hotspot, and adding it to your freedompop acct. It should work nicely.

Smart Unlock with trusted devices

I'm trying to get my S8 to unlock when near trusted devices on Bluetooth.
I have paired the phone with an Android tablet (Sam S2), with a Win10 laptop, and with a Win10 PC with BT dongle.
But the phone doesn't connect automatically when I bring it near to any of these devices, so it doesn't unlock. Both the phone and the other devices are set to be visible, so what am I doing wrong?
I use the phone in the car, and it connects automatically for handsfree there.

Reboot the watch from my phone?

I've got two smart watches, one is a standard watch. The other is a medical device I wear under a shirt.
Is anyone aware of a way to restart the medical wear device via my phone either with an app, Tasker or any other way?
I'd have to target the right watch, but honestly if it was a general reboot both connected devices. That's not the end of the world.
Thanks in advance, this has had me scratching my head for a while. If it's through a console, how would I get Tasker to open/type/run via a task?

Best way to hotspot to the headunit

Hi everyone.
A few months ago I got a custom android unit to fit my car (Ford Falcon 2013). I'm new to the Android Headunit scene and I am not sure the best way to get my hotspot from my phone to my headunit. I'm also not sure what software my headunit is running, hoping someone can help me figure that out. I've seen terms like MTCB and pumkpin but not sure what mine is, since its a small company in Melbourne AU.
I can setup a wifi hotspot from my phone in tasker when the bluetooth connects, but was hoping there was another way so that the battery doesn't drain.
I have tried bluetooth hotspot but that doesn't seem to work as the headunit doesn't use the normal android bluetooth settings, it uses its own thing, im not sure.
USB hotspot also doesnt seem to work as it just triggers Headunit Reloaded (AA).
The other thing I was thinking was getting a cheap data plan just for the headunit, but i'm not sure if the 4G USBs will be compatible with the headunit? Never tried one on an android device before.
Worst case I can just setup a wifi hotspot through tasker, but hoping someone will have some insights for me.
Thanks in advance!
I struggled with this a bit myself when I first got an android head unit. Basically, Bluetooth or USB tethering don't work without using a third party app like PDAnet, which wasn't as seamless as I liked. Using a USB hotspot wouldn't allow you to use it directly via the USB, you'll have to connect to the hotspot over wifi as well.
It was cheaper to for me to just add more data to my cell phone plan and just hotspot through that, then getting a dedicated hotspot for the car with its own plan. Now the question is why is your phone draining while your tethering? Are you not plugging it into the USB ports on the head unit itself? The ports on the head unit don't provide enough power to charge the phone while tethering so I just use a regular cigarette lighter to charge the phone while tethering
You can try using nfc chip or sticker (on the phone holder for example)
Personally what i did is to buy a regular cell plan (all inclusive, was cheaper then "data" plan) with 2 sim cards (one for the headunit and one for my ipad)
Comnected a 4g wifi usb stick and using it wirelessly (i wish my mtce system could identify the stick as a modem) but it does the job and i can save my personal data plan by using the cars wifi
