I have a Sprint S8 that I took over T-Mobile. It works great in the USA, but when I go to Canada, it won't connect to any towers but it will find all signals from Rogers, Telus, etc. Talking with support, they said that since it's a Sprint S8 originally, it won't work internationally. I thought that all S8 internal components were the same? Trying to find a way to make this work, and I'm not sure if that's their way to avoid the issue and there is maybe a software fix I can do to make this work.

Ok so now that Dell has the DVP for AT&T, will anyone here be working to change their T-Mobile device to work on AT&T? From what I understand it's just a firmware difference that allows the radio to work on the other frequencies. Consequently the same frequencies of UMTS that Bell and Telus run in Canada. It's great that Dell has decided to move to AT&T as well but unfortunately we can't get the unlocked versions shipped up here directly from Dell.
If someone wants to make some coin, buy a bunch of unlocked AT&T compatible DVP's and sell them to Canadians to work on Bell and Telus. Unfortunately I'm one of those suckers that didn't realize that UMTS 3G ran on 5 different frequencies and bought a T-Mobile one before the AT&T version was available.
I'm basically looking to try and get this one I already have to work, but if it's not possible, I'm willing to trade and/or buy an AT&T one.
Anyone have ideas? Do you think that the May 18th (tentative) firmware release will be able to be hacked to unlock all the frequencies on the radio? I hate to make such a long post but basically I'm grasping at life-lines here. My iPhone is a POS and I'm desperate for an awesome, non-android phone.
You my friend and I are in the same boat. I lucked out and Mobilicity shows up just before I ordered the phone. I like you have the t-mobile phone.
So far however the phone only works on rogers (and subsidiaries) and mobilicy. But as mobilicity is brand new i'm having a hard time staying connected and after paying almost 600 for the phone i'm kinda getting annoyed at the fact it barely stays connected to the 3G, though I have no issues with wifi.
Otherwise the phone is fantastic (with the no "explorer" exception) and with unlimited data through mobilicity, when it's good it's really good.
Lucky for you. Unfortunately I live in Alberta and the only carriers we have here are Bell, Telus, and Rogers. And the only coverage worth mentioning is worth Bell and Telus. So I'm a little SOL. If someone from the states is willing to trade an unlock AT&T version for a brand new (used for a couple hours) T-Mobile version, I'll pay shipping. I don't care. I just want a working phone.
Apologies if this has been covered, or if this is the wrong place to post--I've searched and have been unsuccessful in finding an answer so I figured I'd ask myself.
Is the G935FD (Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Duo dual sim) variant fully compatible with AT&T? That is, will it work with enough LTE bands such that I should expect fast enough data throughput? I know that it wont be able to access all AT&T LTE bands, but for practical purposes, will this phone work? It seems to be selling relatively cheaply on eBay, so before pulling the trigger I figured I would just double check that it will work. I don't care so much about having multiple sim cards, I mostly just want a cheap(er) phone.
I'm fairly convinced that the G935F will work based on a few other threads I came across on XDA and Reddit. Just looking for confirmation that the G935FD works and works well. Anyone have experience to share here?

I have two international G935F's, one G935FD and one G935F, both on AT&T. Also an AT&T S6. I haven't had any issue with LTE. All give comparable speedtest results and all are using LTE Band 2 in my area (SF Bay area). I think they may be missing Band 30 but I don't know where that is used. The app LTE Discovery will show what band you are using. Things that don't work on the international phones for me are AT&T HDVoice (VoLTE) and AT&T Video calling. I also believe that if AT&T ever offers Voice over WiFi, that won't work either. These weren't issues for me. I was not expecting Samsung Pay to work but was surprised that it worked on the G935FD. Further investigation revealed that it was the CSC and image. I was able to download different images and got it working on the G935F as well. There's a thread on Samsung Pay on Int'l phones that discusses this if it matters to you. I think when you buy an international phone (G935F/FD) you don't know what CSC you'll get. I don't think the seller can tell without going thru setup and running a utility (I used Phone Info) to reveal the CSC/image. Everything else seems to work the same as the AT&T-branded versions.
I purchased a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge g935p. It was a Sprint unlocked phone. I am using it with cricket on AT&T.
When I was at the Cricket store they acted like that because the phone had been a Sprint phone I might have a problem. Everything seems to be working okay. But I have just a few more days and I could still return the phone. I was wondering is there any reason to change to the exact same phone that had been he was with AT&T.? Will it make any difference as far as calls, MMS, or SMS? I realize some of the apps are different. I am only concerned with differences in performance as far as calls and texting. Would there be any?
Sprint and at&t use different network technology, sprint uses cdma, at&t use gsm. Once upon a time phones sometimes get designed with hardware support for either network type but not both. Some phones hardware for example the exynos s7 edge varient does not have cdma hardware support.
The service people and sales people get trained hard to know that 99.95% of handsets on one network wont work on another.
To answer specifically your question, it should work fine all the s7 edges in the usa use the snapdragon chip which can easilly support both network types if unlocked

They suggested that I buy an S8 to give their network the proper test. But if I do not like the service coverage, I understand their S8 would not work properly on the Verizon network if I were to switch back. So, I would like to know if I purchased an S8 from Verizon would it work well on the Tmobile network. Also, if I purchased an unlocked S8 from Samsung would it work well on both Tmobile and Verizon.
Please give me your advise.

Some "unlocked " phones are gsm only and Verizon is cdma(I think the s8 and plus have all bands though not 100%sure). Make sure it's compatible 1st. I setup Verizon s5s and s6s for people on T-Mobile before besides the sim card isn't from Verizon message when you 1st boot up they worked fine for them. Make sure apns are correct and don't use Verizon message app you'll be ok to try network.

If you truly want the S8 no matter which service you end up with, get the unlocked us version (like at Best buy) it should be both GSM and CDMA.

An unlocked version from Samsung.com should serve you better on both of your carriers. I have an unlocked S8, purchased from Samsung and I use it with T-Mobile.

I am thinking to buy one, but I was previously burnt on Nextbit Robin being not able to get data service in Canada. Robin could see voice and SMS, and latched on local Canadian carriers fine (Bell, and another one I forgot its name), just no data. Rumor says the manufacturer did not certify this device with any carriers outside of USA.
I want to make sure that this Pro3 can get data in Canada. I am on T-Mobile.
FYI, regular OEM devices such as V20, S3, S4, S7, Moto G4 Play all worked fine in Canada.
I'd appreciate if anyone can share their experience with this phone in Canada. Thanks,
T-mobile is a US carrier not Canadaian, but nonetheless Le pro 3 will work as it has AWS.
I know for a fact cause I'm on Freedommobile that also uses AWS for 3g data and it works fine, LTE is another matter.
I think all Pro 3 HK variants only have 1700/2100 LTE, not 3G. Should work with all carriers in Canada AFAIK, though I'm not sure about Freedom.
