Text messages using default tone instead. Bug? - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

I have a different tone set for text messages, but the tone played is the one set for general notifications. I'm not using the stock app but Google Messages. I figured out you can change it in settings of Messages, but it's weird that the system setting doesn't work.
Is anyone else having the same issue?

Sound notification problem

I posted this in the other sub thread but got no response so I thought I'd try here. I recently installed the palm threaded sms app. I love using this for text msging except for the fact that I get no sound or vibration when I recieve a new txt. I have checked the settings in the sound notifications and everything there has sound applied to it. Any help would be great. I want to continue using this program but won't be able to if I can't tell when I get a sms msg.
you should have a separate entry in the notifications list showing Text Message (Palm) or similar. You need to set this to the sound/vibrate you want. The only problem I've found is that none of the usual profile managers that allow you to switch between quiet/loud/normal/vibrate and such will change this notification as they are all hard-wired for the standard notification name only.
There is one for text msgs but no matter what I put there it doesn't give any kind of notification.
Edit: Found the one you were talking about I guess I just overlooked it testing it out now.

Email / SMS Notification Tone

Hello,
Is there a way of having a different tone for a new SMS and a different tone for a new Email recieved?
At the moment, all notifications sound the same, so you cannot distiguish between new email, sms etc, without looking at the phone.
Cheers,
Go to the relevant app e.g. gmail and then click menu and then change the notification sound to whatever you want...
You can set the sms sound in the sms settings, not for emails though so I guess emails use the default notification sound.
In Gmail menu > more > select ringtone
and you can change what appears in the list by creating folders for the notifications, then moving the sounds there
Problem with the phone is you can't have different tones for different people which is annoying.
You can have different ringtones for different contacts....

ability to customize message tones

Is there a way to create a custom tone for when a specific person messages you?
Try downloading Handcent from Market. It's free. Just remember to change the notification settings on the default messaging app or else you'll get two notifications everytime (which gets very annoying). Good Luck!

messages tone

hey guys,
my girlfriend has a slide and she changed her messaging ringtone. but now, whenever she receives a text message it makes the sound she changed it to, then a second notification sound goes off after it.
It might be asking the obvious, but has your gf installed any other app (handcent, chompsms, smspopup, etc.) that might give a secondary notification?

SMS ringtone vs default notification sound

Hey guys I have a bit of a bug since I converted my T-Mobile 6T to the international version.
With the T-MOBILE version I had the two sounds different from each other and when I received a text message vs Emails, I got the ringtones that I defaulted to. But with the international version when I receive a text message I seem to only get the notification sound and not my SMS ringtone that I have it set at. But if the messaging app is opened at the time it does default to my set SMS ringtone.
It's an annoying bug cuz when my phone is set down and I receive a text message I can't differentiate if it's a email or a text message.
Anyone with this issue?

I had an issue, after converting, restoring OnePlus Backup, I still had to re-assign my ringtones before they worked right.
I'm experiencing this as well. Converted to international ROM (beta) and that's when it started. It seems to be a pervasive, longstanding issue the more I look into it.
