After installing Magisk I removed a bunch of Google apps, re-installed Magisk within Magisk manager, and after pressing reboot it is now completely dead. No recovery, no Fastboot, no signs of life at all.
Am I completely boned? Or is there a method I'm missing to fix it?
I guess nobody gonna help, you out like my question...nobody answer...so here is the best i can try to help you...try download stock fastboot rom on guide/new/discussion section...and then try hold volume up and volume down same time then power button to get in fastboot mode after that plug in your computer and peform fastboot stock rom

I completed bootloader unlock and then root, booted the phone and took the OTA. After the OTA I went into Magisk and installed to partition B and rebooted. My phone was dead also, I tried all 3 buttons holding them. I just saw your message and made sure I held volume up then down and then held the power button. Got into fastboot, thanks for the help. I had already submitted for a replacement since I only had the phone 2 days but you just saved me some hassle.

soooo try vol down and power for 30 sec connect to power with just vol down pressed
Same thing actually just happened to me after installing AdAway from the F-Droid store. I applied the hosts file blocking and tapped "Reboot", then the phone wouldn't turn on. I popped it on the charger for about 10 minutes, then held the power button and it turned back on just fine. The battery was at 40%, so it didn't need to be charged, but that seemed to work.

Okay so I seem to have run into a little problem I was planning on updating cleanrom up to 1.2.5 but was on cwm. I had managed to switch over successfully to twrp 2.2.0. I went ahead and used goo manager to download the updated zip of 2.2.1 and tried flashing it thru twrp. Now I am stuck in google bootloop and cant get into recovery or more importantly bootloader. I have been trying last 30mins to hold power and both volume buttons but it either keeps rebooting back to the google screen or not doing anything at all just have to repress to to turn it off but it will turn back on automatically. I tried hooking it up to my usb and labtop but it looks like it wont even recognize it. I just fully charged it so I am good for now just a little worried cant get out of this mess.
I ran into a problem like that with clockwork recovery it kept on rebooting in recovery but I could still go into download mode I was at work away from my computer so I had no choice but to keep trying that three button magic until it finally restored a backup I had on my external card.just keep on trying to pull the battery then try to go into recovery. You might 've gotten a bad download

problem is I cant get into recovery. or the green screen to get to bootloader. It just completely stuck in a bootloop on the google screen mocking me... I am really contemplating opening it up and taking out battery but is that a good idea? Or is there anything else I can do?
so I pulled off the back cover but really dont want o disconnect the battery might mess something up but I cannot get the device to shut off.
disconnecting the battery does nothing it shuts it off and keeps it off but when I connect it to the charger the battery symbol pops up for a second and then goes completely blank. I went ahead and tried again to boot into bootloader pressing power vol up + down and all combinations of power vol -, power vol +
power turbo press vol +/- but no luck still in google screen.
If you're in a bootloop you need to connect your Nexus 7 to a computer. Then you will be able to access recovery via the Power button and volume buttons.
is it going to make a difference that everytime i try to reboot it just the black google screen? I have tried it connected to the wall charger and connected usb to the labtop but nothing.

It's supposed to do that when you're trying to go to recovery from bootloader without the USB cable plugged into a computer, may need to have the drivers installed on said computer. It's an issue with the nexus 7 bootloader and every one of them does it. What your experiencing is perfectly normal if you tried to go to recovery from bootloader with the bolume buttons and then got the google screen bootloop.
If it doesn't work when you plug it in and try, then try unplugging it, manually rebooting with it plugged in first, or vice versa
Update: I can get on Team Viewer and remotely reboot you into recovery through the PC if you want, or at least give it my best shot.
ok so i disconnected battery and have the device off. I should then try connecting it to the pc and try booting up holding down all buttons?

Have you installed the right drivers on the computer you're using, for ADB and the device drivers, when you unlocked and rooted?
Answer to your question is yes try that. But I wouldn't be disconnecting and reconnecting it, I can't recommend that and then learn tomorrow that static zapped something important.
yea I am getting nothing by connecting to pc. I have all the drivers adb and fastboot installed when I rooted and unlocked couple weeks back but it looks like device is not being recognized or read at all by the pc.
connecting to the pc holding the volume + button gets it recognized for a second and tries to install a driver apx but unsuccessfully.
I am not making any progress whatsoever kinda sucks starting the weekend like this. I have gone thru some bad stuff with my atrix but nothing like this were I cant even access my bootloader boot into recovery or even fastboot. Should I try and get it to just stay off and see if overnight it works its own magic? Hate going to sleep witht his on my mind but I think with a clear mind in the morning something good will happen.
I can get it to stay off by holding both vol+ and vol- but trying to turn it off with just the power button just keeps it turning back on/off...
so I slepted on it thru the night let the tablet rest but went back this morning and I still cant get into bootloader or recovery. Is there anything I can do?
Has anyone else had this problem where they cant boot into recovery or bootloader? It's like the power button and vol keys are unresponsive even though they still work to turn on the device.
are you sure that you flashed the right recovery? but you should still be able to get the bootloader. are you pressing power + volume down(volume down, not both volume buttons. i noticed you wrote both volume buttons) to get into the bootloader?
I think I chose the right recovery the first version downloaded thru goo manager but it was the 2.2.0 version. I had the option on the of downloading the 2.2.1 zip or the .img but i downloaded the .img to just to flash with the current version of twrp that was working. There have been times were I have not been able to get into recovery on my atrix or htc but I've always been able to get into the bootloader this is the first time I've been locked out of my device kind of got me scared its not even a month old. So you say to get into bootloader you dont have to hold down both volume buttons? I will try again to power back up using the volume down and power button at same time... Wish me luck

yea, only power button and the volume down button.
quick question before I connect the battery does it make a difference whether or not I have it plugged in charging or connected to the PC while trying to boot into bootloader?
I dont know what happened but I rebooted my phone today and it booted into fastboot.. I cannot in any way get it to boot normally. The buttons are not being held down and I have tried to pull the battery.. I dont get it, anyone else have this issue and fixed it have an idea??
Was it stock (including recovery) or modified?
I would try to fastboot the TWRP over and then boot into that (Power & Vol+). But then... I seldom run stock.

No, it wasn't stock and I dont know what happened.. I was running the latest CM13 and rebooted this morning and it freezes up with the ASUS logo and saying "Fastboot Mode!!!" at the top... I've tried flashing twrp via fastboot but not getting anything.. I need a copy of the stock firmware with the boot system and recovery image in it but I'm having a hard time finding it.

I too had this issue. Tried lot of key combinations. Didn't work. My solution was to connect to PC and run
fastboot continue
Then it booted normally. Everything stock.
Hope this helps.

Phones boots into fastboot mode in two situations
1. Pressing vol up and power button simultaneously for rebooting
2. Your phone doesn't have recovery AND any OS installed
I guess your vol up button is constantly in pressed state.
Second situation cannot occur unless you wipe your system and recovery manually. So you are in the first situation
Your phone's vol up button is constantly in pressed state or electrically shorted may be due to water entering the case
Solution: You will have to open your phone's case and clean the area near the volume button. I guess you had opened the case/body and didn't fit it properly.

Hello,
I have a similar problem. My phone is turned off and on the fastboot mode screen. Normal keys with volume keys, recovery mode, open, restart, even if I try to reboot on this screen opens. I tried to connect and format the computer, but I do not install all the drivers and files, but computers do not see my phone. Can you find me a solution?

Hello guys, been a while, but I got myself into trouble. For a while I had rooted the phone but one time I rebooted and it supposedly no longer had root. Today I got a notification that magisk updated, so I decided to try it. I booted into recovery and tried to flash. Nothing happened. I tried wiping davlik cache and tried again. What ended up happening instead was that the phone was unresponsive. I attempted to reboot, but instead I got stuck in a bootloop.
I realize the most effective way to get out of it is to flash the firmware via Odin, but since I didn't make a backup I want to avoid that if possible. The problem is that other than the soft reboot (power + volume down) I cannot power off the phone to access recovery mode! I've searched and searched, but have only found ways to soft reset, which doesn't help me access recovery mode.
Is there a way to power off the phone while stuck in a bootloop? Or, alternatively, is there a way to boot into recovery while in a bootloop?
It's so frustrating to not be able to something as simple as a battery pull since the phone is sealed. Is there a way to replicate that to be able to power it off?
Any help would be appreciated.
Hold the power button for 10 seconds.

Hold Vol down and power for soft reboot. As soon as the screen goes off to reboot quickly switch to recovery combo (bixby + up + power) it should boot to recovery

What if Vol down and power don't work, adb, fastboot and device manager don't see it, any other combinations tried too, wait for full discharge don't option. Help plz
Did you manage to get out of this?
Im really scared i bricked my phone now. Everything was working fine but after i did a normal reboot it suddenly would not start up.
Screen is black and the only way i can get a response from the phone is the soft restart (vol down + power).
I need to get into recovery somehow so i can restore my nandroid backup but vol up + bixby + power doesnt work (i assume the phone is on and frozen or something?)
I managed to fix my phone. After leaving it for 24 hours the battery was fully drained. After charging again i could boot to twrp and restore my nandroid backup.
Hello all,
Earlier i had ran the battery down to 0% and plugged my phone in to charge. after 10 mins i came back to the phone and I could see the bootloader warning screen;
The Boot loader is unlocked and software integrity cannot be guaranteed..... etc...
No button on the device seems to do anything and device isnt showing under ADB or Fastboot.
Any ideas other than let the device run out of battery?
Rom: OOS
Recovery: TWRP
Kernel: Stock
Root: Magisk
Yeah, that happened to me too, that's why I don't charge the phone turned off
Press the power + vol up buttons till the screen turns off once it does stop pressing them and it should boot up
It's a Magisk bug for what it's worth. Unplug the phone, hold all three buttons and it will vibrate and reboot after a few seconds. Once you see the boot logo, plug it back in and it should finish booting and also be charging.
This happened to me too. I was really worried as I waited over 20 hours for it to drain the battery. All i had to do was to hold volume Up+power button for about 15 seconds.

@mods, perhaps you can merge this thread with https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/help/oneplus-6t-stucked-unlocked-bootloader-t3874178
Guys, do you have any problem using the hw buttons to boot in recovery/bootloader? I tried everytime, but the only way I could boot in there was with the advanced reboot option.
To ROMRACER: Thank you. You helped very much. It works.
not a magisk bug. answered here

I can turn off the phone using the power button and volume up, but after rebooting again, still can't get passed the boot loader warning... any solutions?
I was in this position today.
I'd kept the charger attached whilst going into TWRP to do a NANDROID backup, when I rebooted was stuck at he bootloader warning. None of the suggested solutions above worked for me having tried them several times, each time I got the phone to reboot was again stuck at the warning.
I could get into fastboot, (but from there any method to boot came to the warning again), so connected to the pc and reflashed TWRP image and could then boot into recovery, from there reflashed Magisk and was finally able reboot normally.
Hope this might help someone else.

I am still pretty new to Android and modding so be gentle..............
Should have know better. Flashed the latest Omega Kernel on my 6T while watching the kiddos practice for an upcoming belt test. I know I don't mulit task!
Flashed the Android 10 version on my Android 9 phone. Realized what I did when it would go past the bootloader unlocked warning. Eventually it went to the qualcomm dump mode then rebooted.
Now I can't get it to do anything. It is stuck on that screen. Power button does nothing. My theory is if I can get into recovery I can just flash the correct previous version of Omega that is on the phone.....but without a working power button I am stuck. Computer does not even see the phone when I plug it in.
What now?
Many thanks in advance.
Use the MSM Tool method to un brick your phone. Look for the forum in the Roms, Kernels... Section.
You're going to loose all data.
I will get over losing my data. I don't have a windows machine at the house. I will have to go to our shop to use that horrible OS. Thanks for the intel.
You can fix this issue in minutes without requiring to run MSM Tool or lose any data. I faced a similar issue myself few days ago and got it running back again by doing the follows:
Boot your device into fastboot mode, download the latest boot.img (stock or any other kernel) and TWRP and type these in command line:
1) Fastboot flash boot.img
2) Fastboot boot twrp.img
3) Your device will boot into TWRP Recovery, so flash TWRP installer zip so it sticks.
4) Reboot to recovery again and flash Magisk or Full Rom OTA.
You should be fine then.

Is your power button broken by any chance?
If it isn't, then hold volume up + power button for a few minutes and it will reboot to Fastboot screen.
Edit: Also try volume down + power button if volume up does nothing. Make sure you hold either of the combination for a few minutes until you get a haptic feedback. Google "Boot OnePlus 6T into Fastboot mode" and follow the instructions there. Once in Fastboot, follow what I wrote in my previous reply.

Holding the power button does nothing.
Power + down volume does nothing.
Discovered power + up button WILL turn the phone off. It also just brings it back to the "bootloader unlocked" warning page. It won't bring it to fastboot mode.
Makes sense as recovery is now part of the boot.img instead of a partition. I am assuming fastboot is also part of the boot.img. If that is the case there is no way to get into fastboot with an Android 10 kernel on my Android 9 phone. ..... I think

Turns out holding all 3 buttons did the trick....in a weird FUBAR kind of way.
1st time it popped into fastboot. Figured what the hell, tried to reboot, nope.
2nd time just booted back to the warning screen.....okay, freaked out again.
Got back into fastboot, flashed twrp, rebooted to the warning screen. SH*T!
Got back to fastboot, flashed twrp, damn thing booted into the os as if nothing had ever happened.
Held my breath, downloaded the correct kernel, rebooted to recovery, flashed, rebooted system. Everything is good.
Guess the a/b partition maybe?
Anyway, problem solved, headache over, NO DATA LOST.
Thank you everyone!

That would be my guess. It should just switch to the functional slot if the other isn't (properly) booting but I've experienced this system to behave quite erratically. I presume these are childhood diseases of a relatively new Android partitioning system.
Back in the 'old' system all you should've done was boot to recovery (which couldn't be corrupted by the OS!) and dirty flash either a working kernel or the original (stock) ROM that includes the kernel.
Anyway, glad you retained all your data! Thanks for updating the title and OP with a solved tag
