Bricked Galaxy S8 USB JIG? - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Hello! Long story short I've tried to flash TWRP from Linux with a Windows VM using ODIN and ended up with a "hard-soft" bricked phone. Hard-soft because on the phone is just a brick with a fancy screen that displays only the logo. No recovery, no download mode, no $lsusb recognition by the PC. I'm hoping to be able to boot in download mode using a diy USB JIG that I am willing to create. Only small problem: I can't find any schematic or any guidance for the type-C connector. Does anybody know if the JIG method is still present, if so, where should I connect the resistor to? Also, if you have any suggestions on how I can bring my phone back, I would appreciate the help. Symptoms are as followed: The phone turns on, displays the Samsung logo and from there is an infinite bootloop. The key combos for recovery and download mode are not working. Can't even force reboot the phone. At this point I have opened up the device and removed the battery connector, reconnected the battery after ~12h and still the same problem. Also, there is no charging interface when I plug the phone into the charger. Now it's just a fancy brick. PS: It's the exynos version. Thank you!
EDIT: The volume rocker wasn't working. After securing the motherboard better the I was able to recover from download mode.

[Q] I'm SO LOST PLEASE HELP!

I own an LG G2, i recently got this phone yesterday from a person on craiglist. Don't worry i didn't pay him i gave him my older phone i dont use anymore. SO This phone is practically stuck in Firmware Update (As i read that post) , i spent about a day and half figuring it out and what happens is that.
I CAN get into recovery its TWRP v2.7.0.0 by Turning off the phone first and then Holding Vol UP, Power, Vol Down at the same time until the LG Logo comes up and then i am still holding them down, and it says Recovery Mode please wait and bam TWRP.
But heres the problem i can't mount my OTG and i can't ADB Sideload. So what do i do from here?? this guy rooted this phone and soft bricked it i think? and he wiped the phone but i also did when i had the chance and wiped it completly via recovery.
The only way i got into "Download Mode" / "Firmware Update" was to take the back cover off and unscrew a few screws on the side and unclip the battery for a few seconds and then plugged it back in and then I held the VOl UP button and plugged my USB into the phone and the other end is in my PC. My phone says "Download Mode please wait" and then prompted with the Firmware Update screen. BUT my pc doesnt detect the phone whatso ever and i've already installed drivers and etc from this forum ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476 ) its the 2015 method that i downloaded.
so what do i have to do, i havent tried using different usb cables, the port seems fine to be plugged in since in TWRP it says 84+ so i meant its charging right? help me out guys idk what else to do or flash or anything.

I think the methods leave out that you need to change your phone to com port 41 on device manager > ports in order to be detected. Then you need to unplug it and reconnect to computer when the program shows waiting for device, with the phone in download mode already.
Also, to get to recovery you hold vol down and power, when the LG logo comes up release power and hold it again until the reset screen comes up.
To get to download mode you turn the phone off then hold up while plugging the USB cord in with it connected to pc... This launches download mode.

Well you see man , I cant change anything in Device Manager since my phone isn't being detected. It didn't install drivers fully fully since my phone isnt recognized. Even in TWRP or "Download Mode/ Firmware Update" Nothing happens no drivers installing or anything even but it does boot it up to that point....and its just normal boot up i see the LG logo and my led goes from green to blueish in a smooth transition and it doesnt stop until i turn it off. The method i got into recovery is holding all those buttons down its not a problem for me to get into it. I also have another problem it doesn't seem to want to mount my usb otg by samsung.
what do i do
So i tried the otg route but I can't mount it. I have everything connected and once I go into recovery to mount usb-otg, nothing happens.
I just need some way to get a ROM.zip in my phone
Computer does not recognize my phone.
Stuck at LG logo unless I enter recovery.
Sideload doesnt work.
OTG doesnt work.
I've tried at least 4 different guides with no luck.
Why don't you manually install drivers from online?
ive tried

ive tried that already and it doesnt list anything from the LG folder.
I realized the phone will say start the adb sideload feature. so, when i put the "abd sideload file.zip" command on my pc i just wait a few minutes and it says daemon not running on port 5037 and then start successfuly and then error :device not found.
it can seem to reognize my device wether its in recovery, or download mode or fastboot mode.
Try again in other pc that has never been conected to an LG Phone before. It can perfectly be a conflict with drivers installed in the OS.
I've tried man
AFter i cleaned the usb port in one of the chats or forums, i waited a day ovbiously without turning on the phone and cleaned the usb port with alchohal and a q tip and i plugged my phone into my computer and my PC detected something but it only says "Unknown Device" everytime no matter what pc i use it says that. nothing else. but before that none of my pcs would detect theirs a phone plugged in at all.

Windows Doesn't see SM-S820L no matter which computer/usb cable/port I use

I still need help with recovering data off my phone but that's not what this thread is about.
This thread is about the immediate problem I'm facing which is, well exactly what you read in the thread title.
I've tried cleaning the contacts with compressed air, a brand new paint brush to pick out any debris, plugging into different ports, different cables, no usb hubs, restarting phone, restarting computer.
I need to mention that this phone will not boot normally, or into recovery, I can't even get the phone to go into download mode by holding down the buttons. Tried it innumerable times. It will only go into download mode if I turn it on, leave it plugged into the computer or charger for a couple minutes, and SOMETIMES the screen will blink and then proceed to enter download/Odin mode and not sure if it matters but qualcom secure boot is enabled.
I have never tried any rooting, custom recovery, this thing is stock. The thread title said it all, please help.
P.S. I'm willing to build/try a Linux computer if you think it's going to see my device better than Windows, but I am not experienced with Linux, and I think odin is windows only, but heimdall could work?

Android boot loop on Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo (i9060)

Hey!
New to XDA but a complete fan of the help and guides you guys provide.
So, I acquired an i9060 smartphone and successfully installed CM 11 without the help of my laptop since the usb cable through Odin never worked for me (driver issues on Win10?).
Unfortunately, my phone entered an Android boot loop. And now with a lot of attempt I can't even enter CWM or even charge my smart phone, as it always reboots while trying to charge the battery (it's always drained) or gets stuck during logo before accessing CWM.
I tried to install Samsung drivers, Kies, ABD, Odin to restore the firmware but... nothing seems to recognise this Samsung device. Does anyone had the same problems I'm having now? Any suggestions?
You might try another USB cable, USB port, or even another computer. Without Odin, you're not going to be able to fix this since recovery is no longer available.

Tried on 3 laptops but the problem persists. Never thought of changing my usb cable though. I'll give it a shot
Btw, is there anyway to use an external SD card to force a factory reset?

Have you considered the possibility that your power button is sticking? Not the part that you touch but the hardware switch behind it?
Do you have USB debugging enabled?
Are you using the stock cable or at least a USB cable with the same number of pins/pinouts?

Phone not recognized in Fastboot / Download

Three days ago, my phone went off by itself and I had a hard time starting again, it was just loading the bootanimation, I tried to reinstall the ROM, but it did not go into TWRP, although the message Recovery appears on the screen, I insisted and after several attempts, I got into the recovery, formatted everything and I installed the AICP ROM again, and I had to restart,my phone freezes in the LeEco bootloader, then again I insisted until the ROM finally started, but soon realized that it was taking too long to start (30 minutes waiting and nothing).
So I rebooted again, and from then on, I can not go into any mode anymore, trying to access the TWRP, the phone only stays on the Recovery screen until reboot after 2 minutes, when letting the phone try to start the ROM, it only stays on the LeEco screen and restart after 2 minutes, when entering Fastboot, it enters the screen in Fastboot mode, but is not recognized by the computer, not even as unknown device, the same for Download mode.
Is there anything I can try?
Doesn't seem like a a fried motherboard. In my experience, If you fried the CPU, you would still be able to access Fastboot, if you fried the GPU part of the chip, or if the LCD has failed you would feel vibrations..
Do you thin it is possible that you accidentally put the phone into EDL mode? It can sometimes be hard to get out of, and it will give you similar issues.
To leave EDL press and hold volume down and power for 1 minute or longer.
Try this
Install the All in One tool and use it to update your android and fastboot drivers. Afterwards see if the computer recognises the phone port connection by going to Control Panel>System> Device Manager* ( Even though, you may not see the drive, you will maybe still see unknown device or te port)
Maybe a Brick?
If it does not see the phone or show a unknown USB device with port 9008
Try placing the phone into EDL mode by pressing and holding the Vol Up (+) and Vol Down (-) together while simultaneously connecting the phone by USB cable to the computer. Do you see the port or phone now? If you see port 9008 you possibly are bricked, follow the steps on my unbricking thread., if you can not get back to TWRP, or fastboot, and the phone keeps a charge. Then I would think that you are definitely bricked.
Other possible issues
The issue could be the battery. Have you tried using other USB C Cables? If you can use a different usb cable let it charge for a couple of hours then see if you can get into TWRP again . If you can enter fastboot mode try reflashing TWRP, you can use the All in One tool for this.

Thanks for answering. I've tried everything.
But I can not see the smartphone when connected. USB drivers are properly installed (I used to recover other LeEco x651, x526 and x520 devices)
I left it restarting for more than hours holding the power button and volume down, no results.
The device does not appear in the Windows device manager in any way, not even as Unknown or 9008 port.
I tried several usb cables.
There is no communication with TWRP or ROM installed and neither with the computer, even though I enter into fastboot / 9008 mode. Only LeEco / recovery logo and Fastboot screen.
I think my main memory is damaged or something.

Well that sucks, if you feel like sending to the phone to China for repair, you can find several shops that are offering to repair any damaged Leeco for $10 and an average cost of $30 for resoldering. On the TaoBao website, use Chrome for translation. Some of their ads mention overseas repair
If it's memory it would be an easy fix for them.
If you don't want to fix it, I highly recommend the Mi8 if it's within your budget, its a perfect phone and you can find them for close to $300. My brother has a Redmi note 6 Pro which is also really nice. He paid $190.
Good Luck.

Semi-bricked S8 Active can't get to Download Mode - any usbjig for USB-C?

( Not sure where to post this question, and a search didn't provide any answers, sorry if it's been answered somewhere here... )
Is there a usbjig for USB-C? I have a Samsung S8 Active SM-G892A that's kinda-bricked. An ODIN flash failed and the phone now shows a blue screen with message "An error has occurred while updating the device software". The usual button sequence to get into Download Mode works as far as the warning screen, but Volume Up takes it right to the above message. And the phone can't be turned off, so the battery is discharged. When I plug it into the charger, I get the above message. I have tried all the usual key press sequences.
ODIN can't connect to the USB. But interestingly, FRP Hijacker could (but didn't help), so the USB is alive for comms. Don't know why ODIN couldn't talk to it. I also tried Smart Switch PC, same problem. Reinstalling the Samsung USB drivers doesn't help.
I'd try a usbjig to get into download mode, but can only find micro-USB versions and the phone has USB-C. Do USB-C phones not respond to the usbjig method? If they do, where can I get one? Or how to make one? Can anyone here help? The phone makes a lousy paperweight.
Please and thank you.
Can anyone help with this? USBJIG for USB-C? Do adapters work for entering download mode on USB-C phones? Thank you.
