When on a call using the speaker phone option, the screen locks ( per the time set in display settings...for me that would be 2 minutes) so if you have to read an email or text or enter any numbers from the dialer, you have to unlock the phone first! Anyone A) also having this issue and B) know of any fix? Thanks
It's been reported as a bug although we kinda had to drag em kicking and screaming to admitting it wasn't right before they added it to the bug list. That said it is not a priority bug (their words) so we may have to wait awhile for a fix. I've got double tap set to wake and then have to unlock, seems crazy but I haven't found anything better yet. I'll be watching this one.

thanks a ton for the reply. Oneplus customer service/tech support made it seem that nothing was asmiss and so its somewhat relieving to know that the lock IS actually a bug. The solution they came up with: change the screen lock time to 30 minutes!!!!:laugh:
My response to that was A) im not keeping my screen on for 30 minutes at a clip and B) who in the world these days spends 30 minutes yakking on the phone??

I'm curious, because I'm new to this phone and smartphones/pocket pcs period, but is this phone quite buggy, or is it due to things I've added. I find that frequently if I do two things at once and it has to think too hard that title bars and such disappear and get stuck and I have to restart it to fix it. This affect seems to multiply if you happen to try to close the slider while it's busy thinking. Last night I got a call while writing an email and closed the slider to answer. By the time the call screen came up, it had already rang 4 times and gone to voicemail, and in the end, it was all messed up again and needed a reboot.
Maybe this is common to these phones, I've just never had one so I dunno. I'm sure the lack of memory plays a major part in how slow it runs when it has to do two things at once.

Not having enough free ram can wreak havoc on the device. I've gotta say though that this has been one of the least buggy phones that I have dealt with. On average, how much free ram do you have? Anything less than about 14mb seems to send things to slow-ville for me

Ever since installing X-Button and being more careful, I try to stay around 15mb. It doesn't seem like a memory issue though. It just seems like often programs wont open, close, or generally operate correctly, sometimes leaving artifacts of itself that can't be removed all over the screen forcing a reboot. Perhaps it's just something to get used to with a Pocket PC, it's not horrible, but every so often it gets a little annoying. I was just curious if it was perhaps caused by software I had installed, or if it was just normal to have issues every so often.
I too am finding it does that. Especially when moving from Portrait to landscape mode. Some times the old portrait screen will lock up and over lay the landscape screen. I just go in and stop some running programs.
But I've discovered an issue I can't seem to easily fix. Twice now the phone has shut off completely. Both times I have been asleep when this happened so I can't say what causes it. I don't have it set to go to sleep (at least I don't think so!) so I don't know what the issue is. Today I went to sleep about 6 hours and when I woke phone was completely off. Had to do a soft reset to start it. Power button wouldn't work at all. Then when it did finally come up it showed no new text or no new voice mail messages. I had new messages on both that were delivered after I fell asleep. Any ideas? Suggestions? I do have the slider/launcher program but neither were running when I went to bed today. The only app I kept running was call firewall. All others were closed out in running programs before I went to bed. Currently my memory is Storage free 29.39MB and Program free 21.12MB. At 1pm my battery was 70% and it is currently at 40%.
I have found that that problem happens only when blue tooth is on. I have started making sure that the bluetooth is off when not in use.

Anyone else getting click drift with the dell? It sometimes drifts by 10 minds Really annoying when your alarm is set for 6:10. The other day I was setting of for the train home looked at my phone to see how quick I had to walk and it told me I was late and had just missed it. When I got to the station I hadn't at all the click had drifted 10 mins....freaky

Should get my Streak later today so will let you know how it fairs in this regard!
It's a bug/hardware fault.
if you pull out the power cable from the device it'll randomly add 15 minutes onto the time.
Other effects may include, setting the vibrate on and sending the device into a fit.
plus it may kill the vibrate mode as well so that the device doesn't vibrate until you receive a phone call.
the only solution I've found for the above problems is that you have to turn the power off before you unplug the phone.
I'm not sure if this is a permanent fix but I'm trying it for the next few days to see if it works, else the phone is going back.
Mine has gained time once before, it is set to 'get time updates from cell'.
I think the cell may have been putting out a duff time because never seen this problem with internet time, or auto-update time off settings.
Not experienced the streak doing any of the weird vibro fit you describe either.
Maybe seperate issues?
Same here with both Streak's regardless what settings I use. Not very handy since I always use the alarm app. Design flaw....
Yep, same here
Initially I thought it was to do with the fact that I had not set it to "internet time" (or whatever it is called). I was set on "O2 time" (or whatever it is called)
However whichever one it is on, I have seen this problem. Alythough saying that... have only noticed it twice and I have had my Streak since "O2 Day1"
Whether this happens more than I notice it does, and it corrects itself (?) I don't know.
I'm surprised I haven't seen a thread on here about reception issues. My 3G goes in and out , from 4 bars to 1 and even zero bars at times while the phone is staying in the exact spot. does anyone thing this is a hardware or software issue?
The lock screen totally lags. it's almost ridiculous I have about 4 frames for the entire animation of it sliding left to right
I can't figure out a way to make the SMS limit per conversation over 1000. The phone keeps deleting my texts =( Is there a way around this I'm missing ...?
Love the phone it just seems like there's a few REALLY silly stupid problems with it .
Edit:
My voice search just will not search my contacts... I noticed it will only find contacts which are synced with Google, however even though i have my options to sync my contacts. i still only have 5/173 of my contacts synced.
For some silly reason there is ONE person ( that i know of) who's facebook profile was not downloaded into my phonebook . I only care for the picture ID .. but it's odd every one else (whom i know of) was downloaded other than him, spoke to him there's nothing special about his profile.
Edit 2:
Has anyone noticed a clicking sound which sometimes happens whenever the camera is opened? It sounds as if something near the camera is physically clicking
any other droid 2 owners have these problems?
You're totally right about the 3G going in and out. I'm in my basement and when I'm on a call, it actually drops. Last night I called my g/f back from my house phone, and the bars jumped from 1 back to 4. Sometimes I get that 1X instead of 3G.
The phone totally has potential, I just hope a root comes out soon and we have a lot of room to play with. I came off the Motorola Cliq to the Droid 2 and honestly, even with my Cliq rooted, it seems way superior to the quality I'm getting on the Droid 2.
Let alone that the service provider is Verizon, the service should be the best... The only good thing I can say about the phone is that I'm able to watch flash videos off the web, and the new games coming out are actually playable without lag. Other than that, Tethering without root is like having PDAnet on my phone. I use EasyTether right now and it's not much faster that PDAnet. I also hope when root drops, j_r0dd from modmymobile gets his hands on it, I missed my white on black theme and I prefer the Droid X bootanimation on my start up.
have you tried the manual update to 2.2.20? I experienced the signal bug having my reception drop to 1x while it was 3g a minute before and the phone wasn't moved, but after i did the manual update to 2.2.20 by going to system -> software update i haven't seen it since.
With the unlock screen, I at first noticed lag but after reading motorolas recommendations on how a smartphone is like a computer and it should be shut off / rebooted occasionally, i did shut down a couple times and the phone is very smooth now and the unlock animation is perfect.
try shutting down the phone and unplugging the battery for a little and then put the battery back in and let it boot up. I believe the phone uses some kind of cache system that loads up frequently used items on startup, maybe that is why its smooth now.

The update did nothing for me =/... I've rebooted countless times, still nothing , the next thing that really aggravates is the text message limit... smart phones are supposed to have practically unlimited sms/phone book storage. I still can't find a way around it .
Biggest problems are the reception issues, considering it's most probably a hardware issue and no update will fix it=(

I don't know what to say, it was laggy when i first got the phone and after a few shutdowns and restarts over a couple days and a shutdown battery pull for 10 minutes and a reboot and its been perfect ever since. seems like you don't know what your doing.
Bull****. The slider to answer calls is smooth. The lockscreen is not and rebooting it does not fix it. Post a video so I can believe you. I even reset the phone and it didn't help.

I've had my Droid 2 since the release day, my first Verizon phone. I have to agree with the lock screen lag, but I have noticed something interesting with the reception issues. I'm new to verizon so I don't know if this happens with other verizon android phones but when I first wake the phone up from sleep I have one to no bars then 5-10 seconds later I usually have 4-5 bars. It seems as if the cdma radio/software goes into a type of power save mode durring sleep to save on battery power. If this is the case I can imagine the issue could be something to do the the power save mode hanging when the system wakes up, also power save mode could be a little too sensitive.
Now my inferences are completely unfounded in any knowledge other than my observations, and some basic knowledge of porting android to my old Att Tilt. If there is someone out there who knows more please correct me as I would love to stand corrected.

Yup same here, the slider to answer calls is fine. I've come to a conclusion its just a buggy OS moto prepared quickly. Let's hope for a real update soon.

My 3G as of now seems to have fixed itself this morning . Has this happened for anyone else ?
after doing the 2.20 update my signal problems were all fixed and the phone works increible!!!
yes there is a little clicking sound when you go to the camera. If you look into the camera lends as you open the camera app you can see it sorta move a tiny bit so there might be some protectivething over the camera lens somewhere inside there but that is just a guess.

your asking for a lot right now. I'm not 100% sure what yours looks like but my animation at first was choppy. I noticed it the first couple times I used my phone. However after a few shutdowns and battery pulls the lock screen seems to be pretty smooth and it follows my finger with no lag.
I have also removed all the Motorola widgets from my home screens, not sure if that had something to do with it.
The 2.2.0 update did nothing whatsoever to fix my signal issues. Still getting wide variations in coverage and signal (1bar 1x RTT to 1 bar 3g to 3-4 bars 3g all from the same spot in multiple areas)
Have you tried using another launcher like launcher pro, it fixed the lag with my unlock screen, I think the blur uses up too much memory.
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App
The update did nothing to fix my signal issues. I don't have a problem with lag except in the gallery.
I called customer server to complain about the reception problems. The rep I talked to said Verizon is aware of the reception problems, but they aren't sure if it's the phone or the network.
He said there are other people in my area complaining of reception problems that don't have the Droid 2. He also mentioned something about areas that were mostly Alltel that are having problems. He did something on his end that is suppose to block some kind of signal having to do with Alltel and had me run the PRL update again, he said it could take up to 2 days for me to notice a difference if that was the problem.
I was also told to log each dropped call by dialing ### send.
I noticed something odd, yesterday I did a factory reset, after rooting. When I started to set everthing up I turned off the battery manager in settings, and since then it appears if all my reception issues have disappeared.
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App
Is that something you can configure after a factory reset without root?
Yeah, if you go to settings, battery manager, battery mode, and set it to performance. Let me know if you notice anything different.

Ah, I've always been running mine in performance mode. Did a factory reset last night and still nothing. This is really getting frustrating.

3G only shows and lights up if data transfer is occurring or if you have no 1X signal. The signal bars jump because the radio is not always transferring data (over 3G) and therefore you see it grab the signal (0-1 bars) then get full signal (3-4 bars depending on coverage of course) and once finished, bye bye.
This saves you battery. It is truly a SMARTphone. It also keeps bandwidth available to those also using a Motorola D2 and wondering the same thing.

I noticed this as well. Could be too much going on since you just turned your screen back on and apps are trying to update for you. Kind of like how you quickly pull your pants back up as your g/f is walking in the door and you act like nothing happened, but you were totally going to town.

If there isn't a setting in the Text Messaging application then no. Possible solutions are to look for an app or keep hanging around here.

the phone has a mechanical shutter. hence the amazing pictures. it IS physically clicking. it's pretty sweet.
I think i discovered a huge issue with the new firmware. When i have a second line calling me the screen does not wake up allowing me to switch to the second call. In the past, when a second call comes in the proximity sensor would wake the screen and allow me to take or reject the call. Now i cant even see who is calling. Since i use the phone for business, this is a big, big issue. Anyone else experience this?
Can anyone please check this for me please by calling their voicemail and then dialing their own cell # from another phone please. Thanks
you're right. phone does not wake up but you can push the power button wake it up.
I tested.
When the phone beeps to tell me a have another call i take phone away from my head and proximity censor takes a little longer..like 5 sec before screen comes on.
But mine doesn't stay off like yours...tested 5 times

My screen does come on eventually about 5 seconds. Before it used to be instant. Hitting the power button doesn't wake the phone like the other user mentioned. Do u guys think a factory reset will help. I am reluctant to take the plunge cause its such a pain in the neck to reinstall everything.
I have the same issue as well. I tested 3 times and the issue existed every time. I tried to unlock the phone with power button but it wouldn't unlock it (maybe lag?) because after I pressed power button 4 times, THEN it lit up for a moment but by that time, the waiting call already ended.
I'm surprised more people aren't bothered with this serious issue.
Got the same issues, updated via ODIN, argh that's gonna be fun.
Interesting...it would be great if you guys contacted Samsung via email/other method to let them know about the issue. Hopefully they can fix this bug.

I would love to contact them, just not sure where/how. Even if they do fix it, it will only come with another bug fix OTA or Froyo whichever comes first. Given Samsung's track record, this will probably take a while. To me personally, this is an earth shaterring issue since i use the phone exclusively for business being on multiple lines often. Its so bad for me that if it isnt fixed by the time the new mytouch HD comes out, I will have to dump the vibrant even though i love it so much. Me missing calls far outweighs the "love" for this handset.
Its been a few days now since many of us have gotten the update and I am surprised so few of us have not reported this. Has anyone been able to come up with a temporary fix or a replacement dialer to alleviate the horrible issue??

I just got the firmware today and I'd be willing to go back. I missed three calls today because of it. Now what do I do?
Hello all,
I'm guessing this is a long shot, but I know this group will be much more tech savvy than I am and can hopefully point me in the right direction.
I'm being electronically stalked on 2 Pixel 4 phones-- one is used for work, the other is personal. I'm at an absolute loss as to how it's happening. I've gone to the police and they said because it's Android, there are many ways it could be happening, but they can't find out how.
Here are some of the symptoms:
-when I unlock/wake the screen, apps will be open that I am not using, or menus I don't know how to access will be up, for example in Gmail
-phone overheats often/excessive battery drain
-sleeping phone will suddenly wake, background is gone and replaced with a black screen, date and unlock option still present, then it disappears
-stock phone dialer: tapping on the favorites/recents/contacts/voicemail buttons always causes a weird notification when I go from contacts to voicemail. One phone always shows a 'syncing voicemail' popup in the top tray; the other phone shows a missed call notification, and clearly I'm not missing any calls. It happens every time I move between screens.
-At times, recent calls screen shows a missed call. If I tap on it, it never unbolds-- always shows as new
-when phone is locked, using another phone's camera shows that the selfie cam is flashing red like it's in use... Maybe this is normal but it doesn't always happen so I'm not sure why?
-biggest issue is the Now Playing feature: it will show songs on screen and in the Now Playing history that have never been played in my environment. I've actually watched it happen where a song flashes up on the phone and nowhere around me is any song playing. The songs are creepy and yes, lyrically they're meaningful... At times they're love songs, other times threatening. I do know who is doing this, I just don't know how, and I've contacted Google support for help with this. They've provided steps to try to fix the Now Playing issue and nothing helps.
I have heard about malware apps being able to hide behind a partition? So when one phone began with these behaviors I bought another Pixel 4 and got a new email and phone number for it and did not share the number with anyone other than a trusted family member... And yet the stalker found it and is doing the same types of things. I have no idea how.
If anyone has any ideas... Beyond changing my Google password, setting up 2 step verification, or getting a new phone, all of which I've done... I'm looking to find a way to catch who is doing this. I've heard of cloning phones... Does it sounds like that's the issue and if so how would I know? There are a ton of other symptoms I can share... At times I can't place or receive calls or texts at all for hours... NFC appears to have been used... Weird menu overlay that look like fake menus pop up... Website access is restricted... I can go on and on.
Any thoughts on what to do to try to document this and catch who's doing it would be so very appreciated. Thanks in advance.
