Fastboot mode not working? - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Hey all! Got a quick question for ya. So the key combo to enter fastboot mode is volume up and power right? It won't work for me and I'm not sure why. When I press volume down, recovery mode works just fine, but trying volume up boots OxygenOS normally. Using advanced reboot from developer options can put my device into fastboot mode, but key combo won't work. Suggestions? Thanks guys!

adb reboot bootloader
Edit: I just tested it out on my TMobile variant.
Power + vol down (this is the typical button combo)
It then asks for my pin. Then asks for language. Then its the recovery mode. Asks to wipe, clear cache, or boot into fastboot.

That's exactly how mine works! Volume down takes me into recovery, which has an option to reboot to fastboot mode, and that WORKS! But holding volume UP for fastboot mode boots the device normally. Weird. Maybe that's just how these phones work? Recovery first, THEN fastboot? Idk, I'm puzzled here.
EDIT: Might be worth mentioning I bought mine from OnePlus directly. The 256GB storage model.

Found the answer:
To boot directly into fastboot mode, it's vol+ AND vol- and the power button.
All three buttons.

Can you get to the bootloader screen so you can use fastboot? If so try flashing the TWRP recovery, it's a great recovery.

I can press the power button and both volumes and it gets me to download mode... from there, every option i try just gets me back to recovery. when i press start, it sends me to recovery. when i press shut down and then turn it on - recovery. when i press restart bootloader, it still takes me to recovery afterwards. wtf happened here man? never seen this before.

If you can at least get to download/fastboot mode, either get the stock recovery.img file or extract the recovery.img file from a custom_recover.zip, such as CMW or TWRP and place it in the directory where you have the fastboot util on your Windows PC, plug in the device into your Windows PC. Then type the folowing in a Windows Command prompt(without the quotes): "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img". Once that finishes then try rebooting back to recovery.
If you that doesn't work you may have a damaged bootloader, you can try extracting the bootloader(bootloader-manta-mantalj12.img) from the stock ROM and flashing it with the following command: "fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-manta-mantalj12.img" then you can type: "fastboot reboot-bootloader" to reboot directly to the bootloader.

This happened to me yesterday.
Step 1 - hold down the power+volume up+volume down
Step 2 - plug up USB cable and use fastboot to flash the "touch" recovery version. Usebthe method as before, you might need to point your machine to the "naked driver" in dev section to get windows to see the fastboot device driver.
Step 3 - once you are in touch recovery you can just use the touchscreen instead of power button

You can just "adb reboot" from any computer with working adb and drivers.
This needs to not be flashed by default from Rom Manager until they get it taken care of. Twrp and cwm touch work just fine.

Seriously. Can we please sticky a thread or something that says CWM isn't stable on the nexus 10 yet. It would save a lot of people a lot of trouble.
I had the same issue get rid of crappy cwm and flash twrp, flash it by downloading the 1.3 nexus 10 rootkit selecting option 6 i believe with your n10 connected to your pc, it will fix your issue

I was able to fix it by re-flashing CW touch. thanks guys!

[Q] Can't go through boot animation in any rom

Hey guys, I had Lollipop 5.0 and I did stock rom flash in Nexus Root Toolkit to install 5.0.1, everything went smoothly and it started to boot, I waited for more than 20 minutes. Then I decided to do it again and it was really hard to get into fastboot, I had to disconnect the battery and try for some more time. When I finnaly get into fastboot mode I have tried reinstalling 5.0.1, installing 5.0, 4.4.4 and even Cyanogen's last nightly. With any of those I had no luck as it is stuck with boot animation.
Some googling told me about people who did fastboot oem lock and it booted up, just tried that with no luck also.
One very important thing, when I get into fastboot mode, I can only select Start in the device itself, clicking volume up or down doesn't give me any other option.
Edit: I even downgraded Nexus Root Toolkit from 1.9.9 to 1.8.2 thinking it was the problem, no luck. And tried to install Lollipop manually a couple of times. And the problem trying to get into fastboot mode keeps happening.
Thank you all in advance
And now that I tried to lock the bootloader I can't unlock it again because when I go to fastboot mode I can only press start, pressing the volume keys doesn't do anything. What can I do to unlock the bootloader ? I think I'm stuck in here because I can't do anything else without it unlocked.
Edit: It didn't work to boot the system also
I really need some help here
so your volume down key is working when you're entering bootloader mode, but after "fastboot oem unlock" command you can't choose "YES" with the same volume down key ?

All my keys are working just fine, I can easily boot into bootloader (I was doing Power + Volume Down when I should push Power + Volume Down + Volume UP) but when I get into bootloader/fastboot (I don't know which one is the proper name) I can't do anything but press the Power button, meaning that I can only choose START. When I do the fastboot oem unlock command I can't press Volume UP or Down to choose Yes.
I followed this tutorial (http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/tutorial-how-to-unbrick-n4-t2347060) with no luck aswell, I finnaly got into the system, but I can't unlock the bootloader because of the Volume keys problem. I also noticed that even when I'm into the system from that tutorial, which is Jelly Bean btw I still can't use the volume keys.
Basically, phone only recognises volume keys when it's off and I press to go into bootloader or download mode.

Axon 7 G Bricked

I've managed somehow to brick my phone. Booting stops at "Decription Unsuccessful" screen. Reset phone will not work. Cannot access recovery. ADB says phone unauthorised. Any assistance greatly appreciated.
Are you able to get into EDL-Mode with pressed Power and Volume Down-Button?
Boot into TWRP recovery. Select "wipe". There, you should find a button to change partition system. Change the data system partition type from f2fs to ext4. Your phone should now boot succesfully.

Shutdown phone, press and hold power and vol- button until you see the ftm screen. Then you can send reboot edl over adb.

Thanks. I was able to access FTM and send reboot over ADB. That action leads to black screen and no led.

You could now use the Axontool for instance and flashing "Fastboot, then (re)flashing roms, TWRP, et cetera. If you're able to connect via adb (to reboot the device), you should be able to follow the guides in this forum.

[SOLVED] Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime cannot boot to TWRP

I have a Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime/Pro and my problem is that I cannot boot into recovery using the Power+Volume Up method. When I do so, my phone gets stuck at the Mi boot logo. However, I can boot into recovery when I hold Power+Volume Down (I enter fastboot mode), then I connect my phone to my PC and I use the commands:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
fastboot boot twrp.img
I don't know if it's normal that my phone restarts automatically and boots into recovery when I hit enter with the last command.
I want to be able to get into recovery using the Power+Volume Up technique. Also, I heard that if I hold the Volume Up key when I reboot from fastboot will open a window with an option to disable stock recovery replacement. This also doesn't work and gets me to the stuck screen with the Mi boot logo.
Is there anything I can do to open TWRP using the Power+Volume Up method?

Switch off the phone and wait for 10sec. After that hold together Volume Up + Volume Down + Power and wait (i guess 5-15sec) until you see recovery.

Hello,
thanks for your response. I don't know if you actually read my post, but my phone reboots after the command
Code:
fastboot boot twrp.img
and then it directly boots into TWRP. So getting into TWRP isn't that much of a problem here. I wanted to get into recovery without a PC and without using any of these commands.
Also, please try to describe the procedure more precisely next time because typing out just one command that isn't even surrounded in
Code:
quotes...
Thank you.

Hello,
thank you for your answer. One thing I forgot to mention is that I use a custom OS too (MoKee ROM) with Android 6.0.1. Although this has an option for 'Advanced reboot' where you can reboot to recovery, this option always got me to the Mi boot logo and stays stuck there.
Also, I already fixed this problem by holding Power+Volume Up+Volume Down at the same time.
Best regards,
DJsushi

but when I connect the charger In switch off condition my phone is charging but not any ADB devices found in PC.
Obviously! it works only when you are switched on and the phone has USB debugging on! so, if your volume down is not working (which works on every ROM, unless it is physically damaged) you should switch on and then connect your phone to PC and switch USB debugging on in developer options and then use ADB commands!
I hope your stock ROM is not rooted?
