I'm seeing people having to jump through some hoops at Verizon to get incoming SMS/MMS up and running on the 6T, and I use Xfinity Mobile (don't judge me; it's half the price, but uses Verizon's network!). My fear is that Comcast customer service being the literal worst in the world, no one there is going to know what "CDMA-less" means. Furthermore, I don't expect them to be willing to help me given that BYOD is currently for iPhones only. That said, I'm using an Essential PH-1 with no issues, so I'm hopeful I can get the 6T working. My unlocked 8/128 is waiting for me to pick up after work, so I guess I'll find out tonight, but I wanted to see if anyone's given it a go yet with Xfinity.
I'll post an update after I try tonight. I'm not thrilled about the likelihood of the restocking fee, but I'm really excited about this phone, so I'm willing to take that shot...
EDIT:
As a test, I threw my Essential PH-1 into just LTE mode and was able to receive a text and a picture message, so it may be that Xfinity Mobile already operates on the CDMA-less protocol on Verizon's network.

On the Essential PH-1? No. But I expected that. Everything works perfectly in Global mode with Advanced LTE turned on.
I only put it in LTE only mode to test the incoming SMS/MMS.

Yeah... No dice on Xfinity. On the phone right now trying to work up the chain and explain to them what I actually need. Up to Teir 3 now.
Tier 3 was actually pretty helpful, but I'm still not getting messages right now.. The feature that needs to be *removed* is called "Premium Message Block", apparently. I'm waiting on her to call me back to check in on me so we can move forward...

Please continue to update your progress and what, if anything, was able to get things working. I ordered my 6t as soon as I could after seeing that it had Verizon certification. However, I'm extremely disappointed that my 6t does not work with xfinity mobile. So frustrating for something that should work and doesn't. Are you able to get data to work? My data does not work. Right now I get incoming and outgoing phone calls (including VoLTE), outgoing texts, but no data and no text reception

She's going to do more research and get back to me. I'm just happy she's willing to help me out even though they don't do Android BYOD.
Data's working fine for me. The only issue I have is SMS/MMS incoming. And the only real issue I have with that is that I need that for 2FA. Right now, in order to get the phone set up, I put my SIM back in my Essential phone to get the codes. It's clunky, and in the process of that, I goofed up my settings in my Essential phone, so now I can't make calls on it. Again. lol So I've got one phone that does everything but get SMS/MMS, and one that does everything but make and receive phone calls. :sad trombone:

Well that's frustrating. I don't understand why my data doesn't work. Has all of your troubleshooting been over the phone with xfinity? Did you have to call a special number to get the level of support that you're receiving?

I started with chat, but that guy was completely clueless. I then called the normal support number, and Tier 1 pushed me straight to Tier 3 after I explained that I knew exactly what I needed. Alice (Tier 3) knew exactly what I was talking about as soon as I said CDMA-less, told me what they call it in their system, made the change, and told me she'd call back in a bit to make sure it worked. When it didn't, she said she needed to do some research, and she'd call me back. That they're not outright dismissing it as "No BYOD!" is promising, but I'm concerned that her fix didn't work when she had such high confidence.

Yep. I started off with "I'm going to preface this with I know you don't support BYOD with unlocked Android phones, and that's exactly what I'm trying to do with a OnePlus 6T." lol She appreciated me being upfront and once I explained the backstory with this phone on the Verizon network and said I needed CDMA-less provisioning, she knew just what I was looking for.

I apparently fat fingered my address when I ordered so ill be picking it up tomorrow. Hopefully you get it working otherwise I may just return it if they cant fix it.
Still haven't heard anything back. I remembered that I had an old Google Voice number that I haven't used in forever, so I've switched my 2FA stuff over to that, and told the whole 3 people I still SMS with to message me using other apps, so I'm minimally effected at this point, but I'm not going to give up. Hoping that one of us can get this working, as the phone is perfect in every other aspect.

What model is your phone? Mine is 8GB/256. I went to the verizon BYOD site and entered my IMEI. It said my phone wasn't compatible. It seems that some IMEIs are compatible. I wonder if this is why my data isn't working. Or maybe it has nothing to do with it. Who knows?

8/128 here. I wouldn't trust that IMEI checker. Lots of people with phones that work get that same error there. It seems to be a crapshoot for accuracy.

I've been giving your data issue some thought, since you're the only person I've heard with it (I've been keeping up with the Verizon threads in case I find something that helps). Did you monkey around with the settings in Phone app using the dialer code? And You're set to 2G/3G/4G in the regular settings with Mobile data turned on?

So I've had the G1 since it came out and have been having no problems with it until this week. When my girlfriend and I txt or call eachother it won't work. I have no problems contacting other people. She also has the G1 and she has the same problem too.
First when I txt and try to send the red pending message thing stays on the txt for a long time and then it gives me an error. I have full signal and have 3g. She has the same problem too.
When I try to call her it goes straight to her voicemail and vise versa.
We also tried using IM but the same problem happens and our conversations always get dropped. This has been really pissing us off because we have been using T-mobile together for 4 years now. WTF!?
Are others of you having the same problem when conversating with other G1 owners?
Thanks
Its a sign telling you that you should break up with your GF.
First thing first have you tried restarting your phone by taking the battery out.(you would be suprised how many people don't do this and 80% of the time it fixes the issue.)
Second if you have a long thread of text with her(over 150) try deleting that.
Third if that doesn't work then do a hard reset on each others phones. You won't loose your contacts, the will show up again once you log back in. Try texting and calling each other on fresh phones. If it works start re installing your apps one at a time and texting each other between each one. It could be an app as well blocking you guys.
Still having issues looks like a call to T-mobile tech support is in your future and possibly a warranty exchange.
dont why is that, but deleting some sms messages would help a lot. try those issues from above poster. good luck & dont give up w/your gf
If it's happening on both phones, it sounds like it might be a network issue? Contact T-Mo.
Thanks for your help guys, I'm not a newbie with phones so I did all what's mentioned above.
Took out battery, reseted both phones, hard reseted both phones, installed apps one at a time and we still have that problem. We both delete the threads before they reach 100 so that can't be it.
The problem usually happens at night, I'm going to call T-mobile tomorrow and see if we can get an answer.
Thanks again

Are you two on separate accounts with T-Mo? If on same account, do you both have a separate dataplan for each G1? I'm just grabbing at straws here, but the way it only malfunctions when you two contact each other seems to suggest it's got something to do with your G1 plan(s)/service(s).

Yes we have a family plan with the unlimited text and data.
I just checked out my account on My T-mobile and they didn't recognize my phone. I tried to change my myfaves but that didn't work so the site is down. It could be that T-mobile is having some sort of issue.

As I understand it, each G1 must have its own dataplan, even if you are sharing the same voice plan (i.e. family plan). Perhaps the sales rep who set up your G1s didn't know this and only added one dataplan? When you communicate between your two G1s it would appear to T-Mo's network as the same data customer trying to call/sms itself. Hence the screwiness?
Just a theory.

I understand where you're coming from but we have the same voice plan with two separate data/text services.
When we try to call it takes several attempts for it to go through but most of the time our calls are dropped within a minute. Text works most of the time.

Ahh. Still, it definitely seems to be a T-Mobile issue. I would suggest bringing both phones into a T-Mo store and having them take a look at that and maybe your account as well. If any of the sales reps there has a G1, try calling it.

One problem i have seen a couple of times, when i have 3g turned on, I cant call out send or receive text messages, and only seems to happen in certain areas of my town. If i disable 3g everything works fine. My roomate has the same issue with his G1 in the same areas of town as well.
Update:
Both of our phones seem to be working fine today. I still don't know what it was though. If it happens again then I'm definitely going to a T-mobile store.
Thanks guys

offhand, have you reported that to t-mobile? thats the only way things will ever get fixed, if you havn't. Call drop/similar issues are taken seriously by tmobile and they will send a tech to check it out (though you may be unaware). If the tech can recreate your trouble, it will be fixed.
Update:
Both of our phones are fixed! I called T-mobile and they said that problem has happened before, our sim cards needed to be changed so we can be able to use the 3g.
We both went to the T-mobile store today and got them replaced with no problem and now everything is perfect.

You do not need a USIM for tmobile. The sim he had may have been too old, but i have not changed my sim for at least 2-3 years and i can swap my sim into any phone i choose. ATT requires a USIM i believe, but tmobile service will work with either... can anyone actually chime in that has an offical t-mo USIM?

Oh! Didn't know that. I had T-Mo years ago, but have been with AT&T for the past two years due to a promotional pricing.
Anyone ever used a Sprint Touch on the Verizon network? My XV6900 just died, so I bought the Sprint version as a replacement, since I got a good deal on it, and it has WiFi - maybe I can make it work on Verizon since it is the same hardware technology (CDMA). I have done this in the past with a Touch Pro from Sprint on VZW, so giving this a try.
Has anyone done it yet? Would I still use the cOkE 2.41 unlocker, or do I need to use the Sprint unlocker? Any other info, etc.?

Wifi? On a Vogue? How?
On to your question... technically speaking, it is very much doable. The only problem is to find a Sprint rep that will be willing to add the ESN of a Sprint phone to a Verizon network (they tend to not like doing this). A lot of sweet talking is involved and you may end up not getting what you want, but it is worth a shot anyways.
Now, back to your Wifi-enabled Vogue.... What?!?!?

Dang it...the GSM version has WiFi (T-Mobile, ATT, etc.) but not the CDMA versions....

Bummer! I was under the impression that it was just the Verizon version that removed WiFi, but Sprint still had it. Grr....so now the only benefit I will get (if I get this to work), is that it will be black instead of white, lol. Oh well, it's already paid for and shipped.

Phone rep, or in-store rep? I was able to get this done over the phone with level 2 tech support reps, but I did have to call in a few times to get someone to add the ESN from the Sprint phone into the VZW Database.
Do you think I will have an easier time by going in to the store? Or should I just try multiple times with the over-the-phone reps.

The problem with the store is that they have a bunch of phones that the have to sell. Your phone is in the way of that sale, so more than likely, you will have a tougher time (unless you know whoever works at the store you are going to)
I would go for the phone option...
OK, so I got the Sprint touch...went thru all the unlocking steps using the 2.31 COKE unlocker that I did on my original Verizon touch, and even though I used the DCD Verizon Carrier cab, it still shows "Sprint" as the service provider.
How do I provision this for Verizon? I was able to get a Sprint Touch Pro working on Verizon a year ago....so should be able to do it on a Sprint Touch.
Great....I think I may have bricked this thing, but let me tell youw hat I did and what the screen shows, and you tell me how I can get out of it...
It is a Sprint Touch, and I was trying to get it to think it was a Verizon touch so I had the idea of flashing it to the stock Verizon ROM to get it into initial shipped VZW state, but in order to do that I have to relock it to the Coke 0.40 SPL, which I did, then I flashed the VWZ ROM from this thread (supposed to work with the 0.40 spl)...
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/htc-vogue-upgrades/19071-stock-rom-links-cdma-touch.html#post191607
But now it just stays at the startup screen displaying "HTC Touch" and never advances into Windows Mobile. Now what? I can go into the bootloader and flash a ROM, but do not want to try anything else until I get advice.
OK, so I managed to get it back to the Sprint Stock ROM state...
What exact steps do I need to take, and in what order to get this thing to think it is a XV6900 (Verizon Touch)
It is the exact same hardware as the VZW version. I am very familiar with flashing and how to unlock, but what files/steps exactly do I need to do?
Status update...
I got the Sprint Touch provisioned for Verizon by manually updating the PRL with the latest Verizon Nationwide PRL from the Corolada PRL page...

Once I did that I unlocked with CoKe 2.31 and flash to a custom 6.5 WM rom. It now no longer says "Sprint PCS" but it says "Preferred System" and has the Roaming triangle at the top.
I assume it is because it is an older PRL combined with the fact that I still have the Sprint PRI and ERI, so how do I update those two manually?
When I dial *228 and press option 1, it says "unable to validate phone, call verizon" which just means they are not done adding the HEX to the DB.
I still need help on how to manually update my ERI and PRI. Thanks

Status update...
I got the Sprint Touch provisioned for Verizon by manually updating the PRL with the latest Verizon Nationwide PRL from the Corolada PRL page...

Until they add the device's ESN into their DB (and link it to your account), you will not be able to use the device on VZW. It isn't just a matter of setting parameters in the phone, they have to do stuff on their end as well, and this is where it gets complicated as they are not exactly willing to do this...

Understood. I have had them add a Sprint HTC smartphone once before, so I am hoping this time will be no different. I still would like to know how I can manually update the PRI and ERI. I do not want a Frankenstein/hybrid phone...I want to have the same exact files and configuration I had on my (now dead) XV6900
-edit-
I also need to know how to move the ESN from my old phone to new phone - DO NOT TELL ME THIS IS ILLEGAL. I own both phones, thus I own the ESN. The old phone is dead, and this phone is replacing it, thus the ESN will only be used by me, and I am not selling either phone, ever. When the Sprint version dies I will just throw it away like the old one.
Proof that I own both and I am not wanting to "clone" the ESN for illegal purposes...

Alright, fine! So I can't rip the tag off the mattress even though I own it. Yeah yeah...disregard the ESN question.
My objective is to get this as close to 100% like a XV6900 as possible. If I do not need to clone the ESN to do that, then great. Back to my original question: How do I update the ERI and PRI? Also, where do I get the latest Verizon ERI and PRI files?
I have CDMA Workshop open and running and it can read from my phone. Where do I go from here?
ugghh.. I had this document that i typed up while trying to reactivate my phone going back to stock rom a really long time ago and i can't find it!! maybe its on my other computer, but i think it included how to change the esn and stuff

I have a brand spanking new account with US Cellular, and a brand spanking new S5. My wife has a brand new S3. My son, the S4 mini. Any text that we send between us that is over 60 characters long gets split. If it is over 200 characters long, it gets split into six separate pieces and the pieces do not all arrive at the recipient phone in the correct order. I have tried factory resets, I have used stock messaging, and GO SMS Pro. Samsung has told me after a two hour conversation to go to US Cellular and have them fix it. The people at US Cellular tell me they have never heard of such a problem and they have no idea how to fix it. It is hard to read texts when they come in six randomly ordered pieces. For further reference, this has been happening since day one(about 5-6 weeks). I am at a total loss, and since I send/receive close to 250 texts a day just with those two people, this is a bit of a problem. I am running stock on all phones, and have no plans to root. We have been using GO SMS Pro as our default messaging app since it was first released, and have had service with three other cell phone providers and have never had this problem before. Please help.

use another SMS app
for example use Google Hangouts or pre-installed one and check if problem remains...
i don't think this is a problem with firmware or network !!! it might be your SMS app

1- Does this problem happen only with your phone? Or also with your wife's phone and son's phone?
2- Do you have another phone AND/OR another SIM card from the same carrier OR from another carrier? If you do have, please swap the phone AND/OR the SIM card to eliminate the problem.
Ok, to answer the questions posed, as I mentioned in the original post, this occurs on all three phones on my account, on both the stock messaging app, and on Go SMS Pro, which is what we all use by default. I have not tried it with hangouts, as I disabled that app within minutes of getting the phone in the first place. To answer the other question, sim-swapping is not an option that I have access to.
as an addendum to the above, when I did the factory reset, I tested the texting before I installed a single app on the phone and it still had the same problem. I then ran my restore, and added all my accounts and the problem persisted.

again, sim swapping is not an option that I have access to.
Don't know why that is an option you cannot access, while you have a problem.
In this case you should complain with your service provider. It is the network problem.
AS I HAVE STATED IN THE ORIGINAL POST, both Samsung and US Cellular have failed to find a solution to this problem, I have tried the sim swapping thing with a friend, and as long as my sim is being used, the problem persists regardless of handset. I even took it to a friend in the wireless center at my local walmart, and no solution is found. All the settings in my messaging apps, both native and third party, have the split setting turned off, I have tried turning that setting on and back off to no avail. Then only way I have been able to send or recieve a text whole from someone on my account is to force it to be an mms instead of an sms, and I don't know how to make it do that all the time.

Both 3 devices has 1 thing in common your gmail id . Try changing your gmail for ones.there is nothing else to explain.the only thing that i can think of is your gmail is in all 3 devices thats how this issue is spread .because they do save the data of your app on google server. So g.ard reset the device and a new gmail id to begin with.

First response, I have already tried swapping sims with other handsets, I have even stated previously that I have done this. Second response, your logic is flawed, because you assume I am using the same account. That is not the case. Each phone belongs to a different person, thus each phone has a separate gmail account, and these accounts are not, nor have they ever been, linked in any way. Thank you for the suggestion though. Myself, my wife, and my son, all use our own set of accounts for everything that is online. It is more secure that way.

And, again, as I have already mentioned, I spent HOURS on the phone with the carrier trying to figure it out. They don't have a clue....so....not to be rude, but telling me that the problem is with the network is not helpful in any way.

Believe or not, there is a big chance that it is the problem with the network (SMSC I mean).
I'm working in the mobile network operator and we sometime faced with the same problem.
Don't tell HOURS because that does NOT mean anything. You should ask your mobile operator.
because you have the same problem on different handsets.
You can put your sim into another dump phone (non-smartphone) to make sure.

What does that even mean? I have mentioned more than once now that I have already spent quite a bit of time talking to both Samsung and US Cellular about this, with no resolution reached, so telling me to go back to them and do it again is an exercise in futility.
Sadly, I don't have access to any US Cellular feature phones. Everyone I know on the same network all use smartphones, but I will ask around and see if anyone has one.
Pardon my asking, but what is SMSC?

Hi all,
My 6p that used to work great on verizon can now no longer make or receive voice calls, even though 4G data works!
I have been using my 6p on a verizon prepaid plan for months, and it has worked flawlessly. I popped a sim into an S4 to activate, then put the sim in the 6p, and everything worked great.
I recently went out of the US for a week. Verizon prepaid doesn't work at all in Europe, so I bought a tourist SIM with some data to be able to use my phone while traveling. Again, this worked great.
When I got home, I put my old verizon sim back in my 6p, expecting to go right back to where I left off. The problem is that can't make or receive any voice calls on the 6p. Whenever I try to make a call, I get a verizon message asking me to enter the 10-digit number again. Incoming calls are going right to voicemail. SMS works fine though, and 4G LTE works fine -- just no voice.
Verizon tech support is no help. They say that if I use the device on anything other than verizon's network, it has been flashed and will never work again fully on the verizon network, which is obviously BS.
I have tried putting the sim card back in an old S4, and voice calls work fine there, so I know it's something with the 6P.
Any ideas on a setting that I might need to change on the 6P to make it work again? The Vodaphone person took my phone for a second and may have made a change or two that I didn't see to the settings? :/
Any help is appreciated! I use this phone for work, and if I can't get this resolved soon then I guess I'll just have to switch to tmobile ASAP.

Thats where your problems at. At the bottom mine says LTE/CDMA auto prl does yours say the same? If not you need to change it. If that doesn't help you can hit the 3 dot menu on the top right and click on band 6. It's possible your network band was changed. I had this problem after mistakenly changing mine to USA band.
I actually went to verizon and got a new sim and still no luck. Verizon is crazy. I'm about to just switch carriers.

I changed it to LTE/CDMA, but it couldn't find any service at all under that option.
On the three dot menu, weirdly I only have US, Cellular 800, PCS, and Class 10 (800mhz secondary), but no class 6.

It sounds to me like your radio bands were modified. You can try flashing your radio again in fast boot or install a custom ROM like chroma that has a lot of extra bands to choose from. A while back I saw a thread in this section where someone had made a zip you can flash for this same problem also.
I had a similar problem with Sprint. Text and data worked fine but no calls. Might be a CDMA related problem.
Mine was caused by me changing the band the "USA" in the phone info (*#*#4636#*#*) menu. I had no way of getting it back because whatever ROM I flashed I never had the "Auto" band option. The Vodafone guy may have changed your phone's banding to Europe and for some reason it's a pain to change it back. I ended up complaining to Google and they allowed me to RMA the device.
However, I saw this thread later which may help fix your problem. Flash the ROM from that thread and go to the info menu and click "Auto".
Good luck.
Edit: Found another thread here describing the same or similar problem and the above fix worked.

I started having the same problem today, with my wife's 6P and my daughters 5X, it turns out the HD Voice feature from Verizon was my problem, since that was the only thing I had modify before they lost phone call capabilities, I went back to the Verizon website and under "My Products and Apps" you are able to disable or remove that feature, I then rebooted each phone and they are able to make calls again. Hope this helps someone.
Sorry to bump an old thread... I've run into this exact same issue. I've tried the rom in the post above - had lots of errors of services stopping but eventually managed to set it to automatic... nothing helped. I tried another purenexus 6.0 rom and while that works better as far as rom goes, it still doesn't let me place voice data calls.
The only thing that halfway works is enabling HD voice - and VoLTE on the phone. This means I can make phones when and where I have LTE but still nothing over the normal cellular voice network.
Anyone find any way of fixing this?
Hello all,
*** So far this is not working on Pie. It seems as though Sprint has found a way to keep the app from loading, but it is still on the device. I am working on a solution, but at this time, if you have not done the mod yet, do not update to Pie. If you have already done the mod and then update to Pie, hotspot will still work, but as of now there is no way into the lte settings apk. Again, I am working on a fix. Stay tuned.
As many of you already know, vndnguen is no longer offering the free version of his app, Shortcut Master Lite. I already purchased the full version to give my support and if you use the app, I suggest you do the same.
One very frequent use of Shortcut Master (Lite) was to access the LTE APN settings to unlock Unlimited Hotspot, or enter/remove proxy settings to avoid throttling or block ads. $5.49 seems a bit steep for simply unlocking a feature already built into the phone, so I have written my own app. This app is in no way based off of Shortcut Master, but some of the functionality of that app was the inspiration for this one. Shortcut Master does so much more than what this app does and is well worth the price so please support vndnguen.
I call it OpenIT. It is a simple app (less than 150 lines of java) that allows users to directly access the LTE APN settings at the push of a button. It also can pull up the dial pad to enter carrier reset codes or data codes. It was built using Android Studio and it is my first "real" application. It is kind of ugly. There isn't much functionality aside from what has been mentioned, and it may well become obsolete quickly if Sprint patches this ability.
Its purpose is to negate the need for an app like Shortcut Master and allow users who know what they are doing and even those who need help to figure out how to unlock some extra features of their phone.
How to Use this App:
It consists of 4 main buttons.
OPEN PHONE opens the dial pad. This is just to prevent users from having to go home and then open the dial pad. I haven't been able to get it to dial the ##27263# for a carrier brand reset, but if someone knows how, PM me! $5 bounty sound good?
DONATE NOW allows users to "donate" to me via PayPal. I am actually running it as a purchase so PayPal can take their cut and I don't get in trouble for being a fake nonprofit. This feature will be replaced by a Google Play in-app purchase if I release the app to the Play Store. For now, the button opens a link to my blog where I have embedded PayPal's checkout feature, but if someone knows how to make that more direct so you aren't bouncing around a 3rd party site (even though it is my own and uses https), please PM me.
OPEN LTE SETTINGS opens the hidden LTE Menu via com.test.LTEfunctionality.LTEFunctionalityTest and is where many changes can be made.
OPEN INSTRUCTION VIDEO opens a YouTube video where I describe the Shortcut Master Lite way of getting Hotspot working. This will be replaced by an app-specific video in a near future release.
Once you have done what you need to do, you can uninstall the app. You may reinstall it if you ever update your profile or PRL and/or your hotspot stops working.

Bugs:
None known yet, but probably a lot. It has only been tested via the Android emulator and on my Note 9 so if you have another device, I cannot guarantee if it will work at all or if it will scale properly. As I said it is my first "real" android app, so report report REPORT! That said, it should work on most Sprint phones and will not make any changes other than those you make outside the app, so it should be safe for use.
I will update this section with any known bugs.
Permissions:
NONE
There shouldn't be any. If it asks for any permissions aside from Google Play warning about loading a non-Play Store App, please let me know.
Payment:
This app is 100% free and 100% ad free. It will only be supported by donations. I may, in the future, make a paid version with added functionality or add functionality via in-app purchases, but only if it is something I think is worth actual money. I won't put built-in features of your phone behind a paywall. That would make me just as greedy as Sprint. Any donations are hugely appreciated and will be put directly towards coffee/beer to fuel future development.
You can also donate via PayPal right from the XDA site. Look just below my avatar and click the "Donate to Me" button. Pay whatever it is worth to you.
If you cannot afford a donation or don't want to donate, a thanks on this post is always appreciated!
Disclaimer:
Yes, we live in the age where this is required due to people's own ignorance. What you do to your phone (or Sprint/Samsung's if you lease) is 100% your own responsibility. I will work with you if you need support, but you will receive no compensation for any damages done to your phone, relationships, family, global thermonuclear war, etc., etc.
Download:
Yes, I made you read all the way to the bottom to get the download. Sorry. It is important that you know what you are doing with this app. The download is attached to this post for free and a Pro version with a bit better UI and faster updates is available in the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nickelghandi.openit
Change Log:
Version 1.0 - Initial release
Version 1.0.1 Changed help video to one more suited to this specific app
Does this do any good if you can start the hotspot already? I have unlimited data but a 10gb limit per line for hotspot, but if that could be bypassed...

You would first have to drop the hotspot from your plan and then do this...

Someone did comment on my YouTube video a while back saying that they had only 10GB and this enabled them to not be throttled and use 20+ GB. I cannot confirm that is true, but you can do the mod and test it. If you decide to do that, please report back!
Is this confirmed to work on the SM-N960UZBASPR Snapdragon 845?

It should work on any Galaxy Note 8 or Note 9 using the Sprint network with Sprint carrier customization.

I just found out that the model numbers beginning with SM-N960U are unlocked models. The ones ordered through Sprint that are locked begin with SPHN960U. Will this work on these?

Again, if it is on Sprint, it should work. Get the free version of the app. If it opens the LTE settings when you click the button, then it will work. If the app, instead, crashes, then it won't work because you don't have the LTE Settings application. It definitely won't mess anything up by trying. My app doesn't install or add anything. It only gives you the ability to make changes.

The reason this information is vital to me is I have been with Sprint since 2006 and am on an original grandfathered "truly unlimited" account. My current device is a Sprint LG-LS993. I do not pay $30/mth for hotspot. I currently use PDAnet 5.10.4 to tether internet to my laptop via bluetooth and USB when I want to share internet with a Virtualbox VM. It works well enough to download not very large files, watch movies every once in a while and stay connected 24/7 with Youtube, email, etc... I have 1 day left in this billing cycle and I am at 95.1129/Unlimited GB of Data for this month. My data usage is never an issue. My income is not bigtime rolling so I have to thoroughly research how a device that my carrier provides me with is going to function with a tethering solution, as apposed to one I purchase outright for $1000 that is unlocked because I can't afford to. I order it through Sprint, get the hardware for $10, and pay $35/ month to own it. When an unlocked model number is SM-N960U and one locked down by Sprint is SPHN960UBLK I feel a need to know for sure that tethering solutions function on a particular variant.
Back in the old days most Sprint devices were rootable. I started out with a HTC EVO 4G rooted. Went to an LGG2 rooted, followed by a Note 4 rooted and hotspot was achievable. At that point all bootloaders became seriously locked down. So root was not an option for my Note 7, S7, S7 Edge and my current LGG6, but PDAnet has been. The difference between actual hotspot and PDAnet is with hotspot I can PING, but not with PDAnet. This is the difference between a large successful download and a corrupt one. The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was the best device I have had. Mine was one of those manufactured in China and was not an exploder. The ones with a country of origin like Vietnam or Korea, those were the dangerous ones. I would probably still be using my Note 7 today had Samsung not recalled all of them. Thank goodness for promotions though. The consolation of that whole fiasco was the free 256 GB microSD on the first device and then the free VR Gear on the replacement. Shattered the screen on my S7 Edge so went to the LGG6 due to a free 48" flat screen TV on that promotion. That was the only reason I went from Samsung to LG. I miss SideSync and other Samsung only things.
So I'm ready for the move back to Samsung and could really utilize an actual "hotspot" connection. I just need to make damn sure your solution will work on the SPHN960UBLK variant before I make my move. Android forever.
Love the work you've been doing. Thank you for understanding for my need for particular details.

I understand your need, however I do not think you understand how this app works. I mean no offense by that either. I don't expect everyone to know everything about application programming and even I am really new to the game.
I have also been with Sprint for a very long time. Like before I was even born, my parents used their phone cards at payphones. My first cell phone was a Sprint phone. We are on the same plan. Everything Data Family 1500 or something. Unlimited mobile to mobile, unlimited texts, unlimited unthrottled data, 1500 minutes. Also, Sprint is actually pretty good about their 13 day return policy. If you get the phone, get the app, and it then doesn't work after a few tries, then you can return it. My app makes no modifications to the phone itself and the process is completely reversible. I am 100% confident that my app will work. BUT!...
My app likely will not work forever. There have been many methods for unlocking unlimited Hotspot and Sprint has patched them all. In time, it is likely that my method too will be patched in a software update to the phone. Companies like Sprint don't like customers getting things for free when they can coerce them into paying for it. Even if it is a feature of the phone and not a right that Sprint has to take, it is still something to consider. They can patch the method I use, and while I and others will work to find a new one, we might not. They can also terminate your service because it does violate the contract that you signed. They cannot charge you because you are not using a service that is their own, but they can absolutely shut off your service.
I would hate to see you get it and it work perfectly and then in 3 months or even 2 weeks get an update disguised as a security update or worse, need an update due to a security vulnerability and Sprint wrap a patch for my app into it. Then you would be stuck, likely with no help until myself or someone else discovers a new way to get around it.
35 gigs
I normally have a 10gb limit and got a notification stating that I was approaching 50gb of data. when I checked my data use in the app i used 35 gb of hotspot tethering... . i dont recommend people do that because they can terminate services but i can confirm that this allowed me to bybass the 10gb limit
##27263#/##77746#/##777468# ('brand' number for Sprint?) do nothing for me on a Pixel 2 with Android 9.0 build PPR1.180610.011. Are there any alternative codes to activate the LTE program?

That is because you have a Pixel 2 and not a Samsung device. Sprint doesn't sell the Pixel and so does not have the carrier customization that Samsung or other models would have. You likely don't have Sprint visual voicemail or other apps specific to Sprint either.
Your settings are likely governed by your basic APN settings, or somewhere else on the phone. I thought pretty much all Google phones had the hotspot enabled by default?

Oh, sorry, didn't notice the forum, I was clicking any random search hit that seemed like it would help!
And unfortunately Android 8.1 completely borked native hotspot for the Pixel 2/XL - odd, because I had a Pixel 1 acting as my home's hotspot, and it lost no hotspot functionality after 8.1.

Any plans on adding more features from Shortcut Master like Provison? Just asking becuse I noticed that Shortcut Master doesn't work on 8.1 Oreo.

I can definitely look into that. Do you mind pointing me to the file used in Shortcut master? As in what do/did you type to get to the Provision activity?
It would be awesome if you could make one for verizon!
Not that it is a big deal, but I still have to toggle data off, hotspot on, data on. Anything that I'm doing wrong here? Thanks for developing the app!

That shouldn't happen. I usually make sure that I have WiFi turned off before turning on hot spot though. That might be something to try.
