Bought an amazon echo dot the other day in a sale, its good but wondering if there is a way to change the OS to google assistant?
I find that the echo is just a little to undeveloped compared to the google one.

What you mean with "changing os"
On the echo is android 5.1 installed.
How and why would you like to change it?

Change OS from Alexa to Google Assistant. Can I override the Amazon Alexa and make it a Google Device?

No. But take a look at this:
https://alexamods.com/guide-install-google-assistant-alexa-skill/
Google search took 5 seconds....

I guess the overall query is whether u can wipe the current OS in the echo device and run a custom speech assistant on it

Google assistant "My Day" Feature

I saw an article today on Android Central which explained various features of Assistant on Pixel phones.
I couldn't find "My Day" feature in 6P. Anyone knows if that feature is pixel exclusive?

Feature is there on mine...after hitting the three dots > settings I have a "My Day" card that I can click to change settings just like the article indicates. Running latest PN w/ Assistant enabled via the "Get Assistant - Root" app on the play store.
I am using the same Get Assistant Method on 7.1.1. Can it be region specific ?
Mine shows just below my account name.

Is it possible to use Alexa without owning an Echo Dot?

Hi,
I have a Fire HD 8, and wanted to try Alexa, which came automatically as an update to my device. However, I cannot select any skills or do anything useful with this app. So I was wondering:
is it possible at all to use the Alexa app if you only have a Fire HD8, but no Echo or Ech Dot device? And if yes, how?

I have an Echo, and this Fire HD8 6th edition, running 5.3.2.1, with Alexa home button app working! Use the Alexa app, that is part of the build to add a skill and try it! I'm sure others want to know if it works.
Yes - no stand-alone device needed
Everything is controlled from the Alexa app on your tablet. From settings (within the alexa account), you can create & manage your personal user account for such as location for weather, add skills, etc.
My HD8 (7th generation) came with it built-in, I believe older versions got it thru a system update.

Autovoice and Google Now - It looks like your AutoVoice account is not yet linked

I am on a Galaxy S8 and Android 7.0.
Following this guidance, http://lifehacker.com/how-to-create-custom-voice-commands-with-tasker-and-aut-1282209195, I installed Tasker and AutoVoice. Google app already installed. I enabled Autovoice accessibility service and AutoVoice Google Now integration.
OK Google is enabled on all screens.
However, when I say "OK Google, use Autovoice" Google consistantly comes back with "It looks like your AutoVoice account is not linked yet." How do I do this?
When I run AutoVoice Testing with my trigger words, they work. I have another 6.0 Android device where all this (Tasker, Autovoice, Google Now) works seamlessly.
Is there some other step required for S8 / Android 7.0 go get AutoVoice integrated with Google Now?

There is a difference between using the Google now voice search and using Google assistant. The running service is for Google now. The screenshot you posted is of Google assistant, in which you have to be apart of the Google + community for the app in order for it to work.
If you're just looking for basic usage, use Google now voicesearch and not Google assistant

Thank you very much! This is the first clue I've been handed to the source of my problem. You are right. On my px5 head unit, there are no settings for Google Assistant. On my S8, there are. However, I don't know why they are there, or how to disable Google Assistant without disabling OK Google. When I disable GA and speak "OK Google", it immediately asks me to turn GA back on to respond. Do you know how I can resolve this? Again, thanks!

Never mind. I found it: https://android.gadgethacks.com/how...ndroid-device-switch-back-google-now-0174676/
Problem is, don't have root on Galaxy S8. Google REALLY needs to give us the option for something like this instead of forcing it down our throats whether we like it or not!!!

You should be able to do it with a shortcut. I use Nova launcher and just use the voice search shortcut and it uses Google now. Or if you have a Google search bar on your screen with the mic in it, that should default to Google voice search and not assistant

No problem man. I use tasker, autovoice, and autoremote religiously haha. Too much home automation and laziness not to utilize them. You should look into the natural language it can now use. Takes a while to understand and set up, but after that, it's much better than regular recognize

I'm having fun, and pulling my hair out, just trying to get this going right now. At least twice this week I was in my car (head unit not installed yet) and really wanted to send time sensitive messages on my s8 using Google Voice. I don't text and drive, religiously. But being able to say "google voice text so-and-so" would have been quite useful.
One last, final question: I've been learning tasker/autovoice on a rooted px5. Just got this galaxy s8 and, of course, it's not rooted. Looks like I shell commands a lot in my profiles, particularly "input keyword" and "input text".
So, if I want to send %avcommnofilter as response to app, do you recommend autoinput for that?

FINALLY! This is how you link AutoVoice (or any 3rd party app) to Google Assistant: https://productforums.google.com/d/msg/websearch/HwJUpkrHPr4/xIJACIlEAwAJ
So, you have to say "OK, Google, ask Autovoice to...." followed by your AutoVoice command. Still wish I could just say "OK, Google" then command, but this will do for now.

Alexa to Google Assistant?

Is there a way to change the voice remote to trigger Google Assistant instead of Alexa?

I did this:
alexa-google-search
https://github.com/tartanguru/alexa-google-search
Not exactly what you want but does get Echo to search Google.
THIS SKILL IS NO LONGER BEING DEVELOPED/SUPPORTED AS IT AS BEEN SUPERCEEDED BY MY NEW SKILL WHICH UTILISES THE GOOGLE ASSISTANT API:- https://github.com/tartanguru/alexa-assistant

Fire HD 8 - 10th Gen - 2020 Release - Notifications Issues

Hi all,
I recently purchased a Fire HD 8 10th Gen and utilized Fire Toolbox to remove some of the Amazon bloat as well as install Google Play services. I've done some research on the forums in an effort to find a solution for Google Play installed apps to successfully generate a notification, but have not been successful.
I've tried disabling the battery optimization on Google services as well as the apps I am looking to see notifications from. Any other recommendations?
Bump
Ive scoured everywhere on the internet for a solution , did not find one, please anyone help us. I really need to see my discord notifications!

Thanks. I scoured the internet for a solution to make notifications work for Play Store apps on my Fire HD 8 (2018) as well, and didn't find one.
Happy to hear about Floatify ... but just a little too late. Amazon just did a forced update of Fire OS on my tablet to version 7.3.1.6, which apparently is based on Android 9 instead of Android 7 (shocking, I've never known Amazon to do an Android base version update on a specific tablet generation in the past). And unfortunately Floatify says "not compatible with Android Oreo (8) or Android Pie (9)".

You must have disabled this Amazon's stubborn OTA updates that can't stop it:
Code:
adb shell pm disable-user com.amazon.device.software.ota
adb shell pm disable-user com.amazon.device.software.ota.override
adb shell pm disable-user com.amazon.kindle.otter.oobe.forced.ota
adb shell pm disable-user com.amazon.settings.systemupdates
I also have a Fire HD 8 (2018 model) but I have disabled an OTA updates using ADB and NoRoot Firewall (VPN firewall) to staying on Fire OS 6.3.0.1 and it's not rooted.

I did disable OS updates with the Toolbox when I first got the tablet, but apparently it didn't take, and the tablet has continued getting forced updates from Amazon.
In any case, the reason why I needed notifications from Google Play apps is so that Tasker can read them. I don't care about the visual appearance. I'm not sure Floatify would have addressed that issue.

You'll never get the full GPS notification experience on an Amazon device w/o a custom ROM. FireOS does not support the underlying framework to allow complete installation of Play Services. Hacks such Floatify are incomplete bandaids that appeal to a narrow audience. Don't get drawn in ...
so are we just doomed to never having discord or any type of notifications? notifications use to work on my old kindle fire!
