On another forum, someone posted that the OnePlus 6T is getting security updates faster than Google's Pixel 3. Saying the 6t is on November patch, and the Pixel 3 still not updated yet. Is that true ?
This is true the global 6t has the November security update in the OxygenOS 9.0.4 update that was just released.

Does the T-Mobile phone have this November update ?
Negative, they're on record saying they need more validation time for the Tmo updates. Nor would I say the updates are faster anyways; ahead once is hardly a trend and the Pixel devices have been significantly more timely than OnePlus over the recent years.

Nope,& the T-Mobile version will continue to lag behind the unlocked model:
Steps Forward: OnePlus 6T and T-Mobile Partnership
Will the OnePlus 6Ts available through T-Mobile receive software updates at the same time as the Global versions?
OnePlus and T-Mobile are partnering to bring all the great future feature enhancements and fixes to both sets of devices in a timely manner as possible. Due to the additional level of certification required by T-Mobile on all software releases, there may be a slight offset but we are working diligently to minimize this period in all instances.
What kind of timeframe we're talking about here is anyone's guess,as carriers seldom,if ever, give ETA's on any sort of updates,YAYYYYYYYY! :silly:

I'm a little confused. Has the update been halted world wide or just in China?
They're only going to release it for the Note 7.

I heard the Galaxy S3 would be getting it before us too.
New to Verizon?
You must be new to Verizon. They are notoriously slow for releasing updates. They have very little incentive to care about updates since a phone that doesn't get updates or doesn't have the most recent update might push a customer to just buy a new phone that does have it. Coincidentally, they usually wait to push the updates until right after the latest flagship phone release. So don't expect to get Nougat (besides the beta which is easy to install, works great but disables Gear VR) anytime soon, most likely April after the S8 comes out.
New models will be out with the updates about the time Verizon allows us to have an update to the S7. Same every year.
Sometime between February and September, I'd say ?

I've had my H990N since about February, and I haven't received an software update since I first started using the phone. My security patch level is from February 1, 2017 and every time I check for an update, I receive a message saying that I'm using the latest software version for the current OS.
Any ideas why the H990N isn't receiving any updates? Is there a way to switch to an official ROM for another region?
I love the phone, but am irritated how I haven't received any updates since February.
Lg sucks with respect to releasing updates. 7.1.1 is expected by end of this month or next month.

Awesome... just in time for the Android O release.
Just received an update today. It was released Sept. 11, 2017, but I only got it today. It was for Android 7.0 security patch level Sept. 1, 2017. Go figure. At this rate, I might not receive Android 8.0 for another couple of years.
After the new update the VoWiFi is working even in airplane mode just in time before I pull the trigger on note 8 may be S9 then
Hi all,
I'm considering buying a used V20 for ~$150 for my teenage sister-in-law. That said, I have absolutely no experience with the phone. I've read plenty of reviews but those were all from when the phone was released. Would anybody mind giving me the down-low on update support and expectations with official LG firmware? I don't want to give her a rooted phone (mostly because I don't want to provide tech support for it).
Would I be wise to buy this for her at this price or should I look elsewhere, perhaps at a Moto G5 Plus or one of the newer budget phones coming out this spring? I'm probably looking for this to be a 2-3 year phone for her, even if security updates only last another 1-2 years.
Thanks!
This phone will not get security updates for another 2 years -- MAYBE a year, no matter the model.
It is a great phone if you root it, but you said you don't want to do that. The only way you are going to get really good battery life is either get a bigger battery (and deal with the bulge), or root it

Dude, the next security patches for our V20 will be available on late May. Or June. Or July at worst. What are you talking about. XD :silly:
And is May or June over a year away? Did I fall into some alternate dimension? It is close enough so let's call this April. This phone will not receive any more updates after April 2019. How do I know this -- history. LG just doesn't change.
-- Brian
Anyway, LG (or pretty much any manufacturer nowadays) has a record of releasing 2 major updates for its flagship devices. Since it came out with Nougat, I guess it should receive P next year (because LG )
Not much idea about security patches though, might last around 2-3 years. Then again, the amount of security patches you receive heavily depends on the variant you have. US carrier variants seem to be getting patches recently, while on the other hand, my unlocked US996 is still stuck on December 2016 patch (while my Galaxy Note 4 is on August 2017), and the lastest one is Dec 2017.......

I seriously don't know whether you are being sarcastic or not, really
The V20 will probably receive Oreo in May anyway, which is why I said that.
Although I can agree that LG is terrible when it comes to patches. I mean, from 2016 to 2017, I've only seen a single patches for my US996, which is Dec 2017, A.K.A the one I am downloading right now. Since mine is stuck on Dec 2016 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If you think this phone is getting P you have not owned very many LG devices. The V10 got Nougat because a big stink was made, but it was a crap build, riddled with bugs.
The V10 was released on Oct. 2015 with Lollipop. Marshmallow was released on Oct. 5 2015. Most models got their update to MM on or around April 2016. Finally (after much community outrage) they released Nougat for some models in July 2017. BARELY two years of support.
The V20 was released on Sept. 6 2016 with Nougat. Oreo was released on Aug. 21 2017. Finally some V20 models will get Oreo around April 2018.
So let me get this straight, you really think that LG is going to give this phone three years of support and supply Android P?!? LOL
-- Brian
It Is going to get P probably(every flagship gets two major updates).
Although, I do agree that the amount of time they need to release it is just.. well, I should behave.
Then again, I am coming from Nexus line..

Huawei will deliver its GPU Turbo tech to older phones, from flagship to mid-range

you'll notice Mate 9 is slated for September (yea I'll believe it when I see it)
But, yanno, if it happens, it'll be a good free boost - hell maybe they'll stick in Oreo 8.1 or higher too ad we lose the pesky screen dimming thing & have PROPER WORKING BLUETOOTH AGAIN! who knows
Yes, fingers crossed
LOL probably will be blocked for the USA version though, considering how the U.S. government treated them this spring
Nice info thx, this phone was a great investment.
I can see that it's already out for 2 regions C185B380 and C636B377 on Firmware Finder. Surely other regions will follow within a month time. Add another of course for firmware to be approved for installation.
I thought we're only going to see security updates from here on out
Android Pie It will arrive soon
I own the S10+ unlocked SM-G975U1 how come there was no March update for it?
February is the latest. Samsung is a little slower on the USA unlocked variants...

Welcome to Samsung world! This is their flagship and they are already a late month. My Tmo Note8 still sits waiting for Pie while other phones are already playing with Android Q. If you want timely updates, never ever buy as Samsung phone. Look at their horrible update history which is 10 years old by now and it speaks for itself. Buy a Pixel phone instead and every 1st Monday of the month, you can expect an update as timely as clockwork. Samsung makes great hardware but don't expect software anything. It'll come when it does. And it will always be behind schedule.

I tried to recover my S10+(G975F/DS) from crushing on flashing Vendor.img through odin by flashing orignal firmware ASBA and then upgraded from OTA to ASCA, so try a clean recovery in odin

Disagree, my unlocked generic G9750 is on March update (and security patch) already
My unlocked SM-G975U1 still hasn't received the Match update. I think is mostly European versions of the phone that have received it now
