Hi guys,
I've got a weird issue that seems to be happening only with my girlfriend when she calls me and/or I call her, but mostly when she calls me. Sometimes she will call me and I pick up and I can hear her but she can't hear me. It seems to be only her that is experiencing this, and I'm not hitting the mute key or putting her on hold accidentally or anything of the sort... if I call her back immediately then everything is fine... just wondering if anyone else is experiencing something similar/has a solution?
Thanks in advance!
happens to me on occasion as well
same. i just usually redial.
known issue .. change gf
I have exactly the same intermittent issue when I dial home and speak to my wife - every so often I can hear her and she is unable to hear me.
Hasn't happened with other numbers?
I was very pissed off when that happened to me couple of times..
I'm not sure, but after that i was looking for the "audio settings" and one of the switches was set to 0,.. not sure if that was the case but i hope it was.
Will play some more with that once i get my second nexus
I had the problem where they couldn't hear me, called two numbers to confirm, did a reboot and haven't seen it again.
Lmao! Classic!

surprised to see this. Anyone had it since receiving the OTA update (which I STILL have not received)?

Ha ha ha... she does have an iPhone... hmmm you may be on to something J/K... but yeah I'm hoping maybe the OTA will fix it... I hope
I am having this issue to when I call my mom who is on Verizon, and a few other friends. For me it happens randomly in the call, nothing gets muted or put on hold, I can hear them, but they can't hear me, so it usually ends up in them hanging up cause they thought I hanged up lol. This issue is still present after the OTA update, but I haven't tried it on a custom ROM yet.
ive had this issue w/tmobile in general. ive been using unlocked phones in the past, however. dont know if that makes a difference...used phones like the iphone and htc touch hd. i usually have to redial and its fine but once in a while it will happen. i have the nexus 1 w/stock rom. no OTA update yet.
Hmmmm... I've used unlocked phones on T-Mo's network as well, but this is the first time I've had this problem in areas with 2+ bars of reception... interesting.
I bought Nexus1 a week ago.. Ive been playing with it for a while like other people do.
Adding new apps multitouch new radio and other ..
Today morning i received a call from a friend the phone was ringing and I Could hear what he was saying WHILE IT WAS RINGING... I tried to call the phone again and again.. but it works Sometimes..Mostly from Land lines and Nokia phones.. tried from blackberry also works..
Now is it my provider? or the phone i just dont get it.. scared to turn off the phone to loose this feature..
my provider Etisalat UAE
I and my friend have received the phones same day. He is having the exact behaviour you are describing, he can hear what the caller talks before he actually answer the call. It's wierd **** man. Mine is not showing any sign of this issue. Same carrier. Maybe his phone is traced?

I had an old school Sanyo flip phone that had "call screening" feature.
When th ephone would ring you would press a side button instead of flipping it open, and you could hear what the other person was saying. Kind of like the mute feature. You could hear them but they couldnt hear you.
I was gonna start a post on this 2. I only had it happen a few times, but yeah, I could hear them talkin thru the speaker. Soo, it's not a provider issue, I'm on Centennial Wireless
You are on centennial wireless gsm?. In which country
nice... now its a phone or provider? i just don't get it.. i never seen such a thing on other devices..
I think its carrier related. I had that happen to me on an old old old Nokia phone on att. A glitch of the GSM system? Only happened once.

Hi,
I have just witnessed the wierdest problem yet on ANY phone I have EVER owned.
The problem is as follows:
While someone is calling, I will suddenly start hearing the person calling me on the loud speaker of the phone WHILE its still ringing and the person on the other end HAVE NO IDEA that I can hear him !!!!!!!!
So I start hearing the ringtone AND the person on the other end both at the same time !!!!.
It happens randomly and it happens without any interferance from me.
The phone is using the Stock ERE27 with superboot and root.
I have no clue as to what could even cause this, or how its possible. If anyone has ANY idea........PLEASE let me know!.
Wow, is this consistent?
I'd say it might be a provider issue actually.. I may be wrong, but I think that unless provider sends a "connect" command that would start transfering the voice over to your phone, your N1 wouldn't be able to make you hear him/her.
Just thinking out loud. Maybe worth calling their support or going on their forums to see if other people have same problem and if it's specific to N1 or that provider.
I never had that problem with any of the phones (AT&T US)

Nope, its not consistent, it happens out of the blue and randomly. But it does happen quiet often........say around once every 2 days or so. I thought it could be provider related as well, but I have been using the same sim card for many years and I never had anything like this......chances are that this started happening from the provider around the same time i started using my N1 are quiet slim........it will have to be one hell of a coincidence.
I have 2 other friends with N1s and they are using the same telecom provider as myself, but they have no such issues :S

I had this problem alot with my old panasonic gd60 phone in Jamaica on the DIGICEL network. I figured it was cross talking interferance until I started hearing things I shouldn't

Old sim cards can cause problems. At least in the greater than 1-2 year range or so with tmobile and with 3g being added to the network lately. Get a new sim card in store and see how that helps... it shouldn't hurt anything.

That's actually kinda cool, I wish my phone did that.
That's bloody weird :S
well, I would rather find out why or how is this happening before I start changing sims. Because the timming of the problem is too close to ignore ! It only started happening like 2 weeks after I started using N1.
This happened to me last night for the first time. No other phone did this and i used the same sim. My sim is not old.
Finally !! Someone else ! So im not alone.......and this is looking more and more like a manufacturing problem with the N1s......and I would say this a major screw up!
I have the same problem as well, first only with 1 person but at the moment i can hear everybody before accepting. I dont have a problem with it, its good if they say something bad about you.
wow that's a weird bug! we just found a weird bug on the palm pre, where when you are on a call and someone else calls in with call waiting. if the current active call hangs up, the palm pre automatically answers the incoming call waiting call seemlessly so you dont know the difference! yet the phone still shows the original caller ID, and the call time counter still continues for the original call.
kinda a serious bug in a way, lets say you dont wanna answer that person's call, but the pre does it anyway.
It's happened to me on an old Nokia...(6 years ago) on Cingular. I think it's got something to do with the carrier and the simcard security. When it happened to me, it happened the other way. I was calling and I could hear the conversation before they picked up.
Does anyone know where I should be looking to find any clue as to whats happening in background thats causing this malfunction ? I would like to try and re-create the issue other phones.....but I will need to find out first if its software or hardware related.
Basically what im asking is........where do I look (log files and stuff like that) to give me hints ?
I'd like to see how to enable that feature!!! I wanna see what some folks say before I answer their calls!!!
This used to happen to me when I first bought the nokia 6600. When I got an incoming call, I usually press the silence button, hold the phone to my ear, and then pressed answer. But before I could press answer, I could hear the people on the other end, *****ing about me, calling to sell credit card, etc etc.. (lol)
I thought it was the phone, but few other people got the same issue.. with different phones.
it was eventually rectified by the carrier. (As I did nothing to the phone and all was back to normal)
So No one has any bright ideas to solving this mystery ? From the posts so far, it seems like a device issue more than a telecom issue......
lol. it happened to me once.
i have experienced this so many times well mostly with a very old sony phone. like the pervoius post mentioned, u change the volume while ur phone is ringing before answering the call. u put the phone on ur ears and boom.
i enjoyed it when i had that phone. always hearing ppl talking **** about you without them knowing is power: p
anyways my nexus one did it. stock not rooted not unlocked. using it in oman
Hey guys,
So, like most others out there, I've always had my in call volume set to max which was just about enough for me to hear the other side of the call. Today, I called up my network provider to ask them about a crackle that the people I called told me they could hear periodically. The rep told me she would 'reset my network connection' to fix the issue.
After everything was done, I just assumed it was done and let it be.
Few hours later, I got a call from my parents. Answered it, and it was so loud my ear almost fell off!! I'm not joking... I had to reduce the in call volume all the way down to the 1st level, and then I could hear at a comfortable level.
I've tried quite a few calls since then, and I have to say, this is now one of the loudest phones I've ever used!
Check if it works for you guys too... maybe its just an issue with your network provider
Anyway, one less complaint from me about my awesome X10

Could this be why I've never had a problem with the call volume...?
Certainly makes a lot of sense, although it's a strange problem.
Basically, I'm replying so this gets bumped back to the top.
It depends on people I talk with. For example, when I talk with my mom, everyone in the room hears what she says and I have to keep the phone few centineters from my ear, because it's too loud. But sometimes I can't hear her so clearly and volume changes constantly from low to high and then back to low.
When I talk to other people, I have to shout WHAT?! after each sentence and the person I talk with says he hears noises just like walkie talkie.
I hope your solution will help. By the way, how do you reset a network operator ?
Settings > Call Settings > Network Operators, then reselect your network.

On mine its different, settings / wireless controls / mobile networks / network operarors.
My signal went completely dead for about 20 secs and has returned at full strength and stayed that way since. I don't normally get full signal at home.
Iv yet to try in call volume but thanks very much.
This should be made sticky
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Well, I replaced my old SIM card last week an USIM, and they ofc had to transfer my number, data plan, etc (could be comparable to a network settings reset, whatever that means exactly) and the in-call volume is the same, so I wouldn't put this as a sticky thread

If any one from India try it, please post here.

Well I'm not sure this does the same thing, but the rep told me that sometimes there's a hiccup in their system, so she 'reset the connection to the network' which involved me powering down the phone and removing the battery, while she did something at her end. Again, not sure if its the same thing.
To give you an idea of how loud it is now, at the highest level of in call volume, i can almost use it as a speakerphone

Does this work for anyone else?
Can confirm it still works when I'm at work....
Called Airtel Customer care India and said the same thing and asked them to reset my network connection.
She said she dont know how to reset it. I asked her to contact her superior and let me know. She put me on hold and after a few mins call was cut.
May be I am unlucky

I'm gonna call Rogers tonight about this, I assumed this whole time a lot of the volume issues were network related (since people on good networks in Scandinavia and Japan haven't had any problems) but just didn't know Rogers could do something about it. Thanks for sharing this tip, hopefully it works for me too!

Well I did the technical support live chat thing... coz I assumed they would tell me to power down my phone, which they did.
I don't have another phone so I had to do that. You could try calling from your landline I guess
Just tried it out. Didn't work.
Hi Bongd - What did you try?? manually reselecting your network, or calling you network operator and getting them to reset the network for you?
I tried calling them before and they said it's just like that :|

sounds like you might have got lucky cause Im not seeing other people getting the same results. Too bad, the call volume has to be one of the biggest flaws with this phone....
Interesting.. on orange uk my signal has gone to full bars and will not go down no matter what?? but I cant get 3G signal?? I will reboot the phone.
However I did notice a slight increase in call volume, not a great deal but a slight increase.. will edit after reboot.
edit: rebooted phone, 3G signal returned.. & I am pretty certain that the earpiece volume is slightly louder, so I think re-selecting your network and a possible reboot afterward does improve sound from earpiece!
Try this out folks & post your feedback, thanks to original poster Still the sound is not as loud as other devices so SE still need to somehow increase this through 2.1 when it is released.
Hi,
Sometimes when I'm talking, my friends tell me that my voice goes quiet and muffled, my friend notices this sometimes when i'm talking, and it can happen anytime the voice from me just goes all quiet and muffled.
Anybody experienced this with the HD2 or know a fix?
I've tried to upgrade firmware to latest but nothing.
Thanks.
It's called Laryngitis. it'll go away in 2 weeks. This isn't a health forum though
No, but it sounds like a microphone issue. I haven't experienced this though, so it may be a hardware issue.

I've got a similar issue, but I'm not sure if it's the same one..
About 15 minutes into a call. It almost sounds like the reception is about to cut out, then it goes back normal, then it starts repeating that cycle every two seconds or so until i get so frustrated that I just hang up. Doesnt seem to make a difference when I call again.
I've also tried updating ROMs and Radios a few times, but it doesnt seem to help. I'm now back on Duttys Hybrid V6 WWE and have upgraded to the 2.15 radio...
Haven't been able to figure out what it could be... but it's pretty frustrating now.. First HTC was a Diamond that died in 3 months and now this HD2 is giving me the ****s... lol (never mind me.. i'm just venting! )
