Plz guys help to find good Rom for my S4 and without problems
Every rom is great, just try them and read a little in the threads to find the one that fits you
I prefer that you should stick to stock-based Roms because they are more stable than AOSP, MIUI, etc. Every Rom has their sets of issues just as us humans, we are not perfect. We have to overlook acceptable problems such as occasional and minimal lags or delays, but not the significant problems such as wifi connectivity, bluetooth problems, cellular data/signal problem, FCs, quick battery drain, extreme overheating, and etc.
So there is this stock-based rom that I use, called Imperium Rom v.12 by Slim80 http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-develop/rom-imperium-ll-v1-0-t3046889 It is the most stable Rom I have ever used as of now and I like to make my S4 committed to it, not commiting adultery with other roms anymore. Don't limit yourself by flashing an AOSP-based rom. The reason is the bugs that come with these AOSP roms and limited features compared to what I have been using now. Perhaps S4 is really meant to stick with its roots, not in the roots of others. So I suggest that you stick with a Touchwiz-based rom because of the premium features that AOSP doesn't have such as the amazing camera features, multi-window, great keyboard, and many more. Let the S4 grow in its roots.
I hope I could have helped you decide.
Note: This will be time-consuming, all of the flashing, organizing, and many other things. This can make us forget and ignore the existing human relationship we have now with families, friend, and the people around us and most importantly , the relationship we have with our Creator. Time is short. So I hope this android development thing will not interfere with the real priorities we have now for it had scrambled mine. So best wishes in Jesus' name.
Dirty Unicorn 9.8 or CM 12.1 SnapShot
For me i prefer Imperium Rom V12... Im also using albe95 note5 rom but still nothing compares with the original modified stockrom.. no lags, no bugs, smooth.. and the coolness whenever i play games.. especially when i play nba2k16, the temperature of my fone never changes..
PhoeniX Rom v11.6
I use PheoniX Rom (v11.6). And I think this is the best rom you can found at this moment for the galaxy s4. I am a flashaholic, so I tried every (TouchWiz) rom I could found here. But always come back to PhoeniX Rom. It is full of features, so that xposed is no more necessary (for me). The Battery life is also very good for our old device and everything is running smooth and fast. I use imperium Kernel and never had any issue with this awesome rom.

Touchwiz Based Roms :
[ROM] Albe95 S6 FULL PORT 4.7 [S6/Edge FEATURE PORT]
CM Based ROMS: Dirty Unicorn 9.8 or CM 12.1 SnapShot
But this isn'^t the correct section.
Request Move please.
Albe95 Note 5 port and Imperium 12 are best that i have come upon.

Thx
For me i prefer Echoe ROM v5.0 wiht kernel echoe v5.7 ..stable for me
Indeed Imperium is one of the best tw ll based custom roms. But the only thing I don't understand is why Samsung themed lollipop so bright, although we all know that amoled screens have a better battery life with dark pixels. This question really bugs me.

Can Imperium (and Albe for that matter) be made to be dark all the way, ie how 4.4 was?

It's simple: they don't care
Sammy lollipop firmware is way below kk in terms of battery life. Also has more bugs, lag, etc
Edit: I think this thread should be moved into right section...
I found stock to be great but front camera works horrible on all of them. Aosp and cm roms give you better quality images and most likely better battery life too
its either Stock 5.0.1 (which is what i am on) or Imperium rom

You must be high or something.. everyone knows that AOSP based roms have terrible camera apps and horrible image quality.. Samsung camera app is way better.. and this is the only reason I can't stick to AOSP.. besides it gets boring after a while!
omega rom... period !!!
Simple Question. Got Nuclearom on my phone and am quite happy with it. But I am thinking of switching to DarkRom, Candy or AOSPX. What were you experiences, which performed best etc?
For the g model dark ROM does a good job with the Los thread modem, no call bug, viper works and the delta updates are a great feature too. Battery life is good too.
No lags !!!

Nuclea. all of the others had performance problems not even fixable with a custom kernel. Some (Lineage, RR) had terrible GPU handling when I used them, but that was like 5 or 6 months ago, so maybe they ironed that out. Thing is, radioactive kernel has a very nicely tweaked governor (when it doesn't break your touchscreen, that is )
I'd say you should backup your current install on an SD card if you want to try something else, because you might as well want to go back. Most other custom ROMs are carbon copies of each other for some reason. For instance, RR looks like AICP, Nuclea like those but with less tweaks... and the difference is mostly the maintainer and the name (usually even the 'goal' of the ROM is the same, to "provide with the best tweakability and functionality while keeping performance best" or something on the lines).

Feel you man, Tried Carbon and RR before Nuclea and got disappointed, very slow and buggy in comparison. But DarkPixel looks promising and people are reporting good speeds and more/better features.
Is someone around here who tested DarkPixel with Radioactive Kernel? Or did some other kernel perform better? Or might it even be the best to stick with the Kernel of the ROM? So many options, so few differences :/

No, not necessary, the kernel that comes with rom does perform absolutely fine in my eyes. Only modded a bit with kernel auditor, read ahead, no big changes. Viper aroma 2.94 and lawnchair as launcher, just using the black ui, no substratum. The rom is smooth, lagfree and not overloaded with features. For smooth browsing I use the chromium swe
here from xda. Magisk 14 with unified hosts just work fine.
No saftey pass issue.
This are all personal choices of course, but it gives me a good performance.
Overall I find there's very little differences between all the lineage based roms. I use aokp with llama kernel but I may switch again if I can bothered. I use war mod too.
Used all of those ROMs for some time and finally settled with DarkRom. It is stable, fast, got its own color engine, so I replaced substratum with daily issues and never ending updates. Delta updates is another plus. I "customized" it by adding viper4android, Omniswitch and Phonograph music player and that's it. I play with the kernel, but return to the built in one, which is unbeatable smooth.
Hey to all of you Kind enough to take the time out and read this, as we ALL know XDA has been a Community for Android enthusiast from all over the world, I am one of you... I am hoping to get some Honest Feed Back for you Guys that are more incline about the OnePlus 5, so here I go, I just got a GREAT DEAL on my OnePlus 5, its the A5000, i dont know if theirs different model number for thr OP5, i do know the the OP3 & 3T has different Model #'s Cause I had that device as well, So I am Hoping you Guys can Tell Me which " 1 " of these Custom Roms is Best for Stability, Faster Internet, and Data speeds, Pretty much FAST in General, Plus decent in Battery Life as well. Im Looking to Stay as stock as Possible as well with the Original OOS. I am Hoping I can get some Help Here, will Truly Appreciate some Honest Feed Back, Thanks In Advance, and God Bless...
TBH all OOS based or the major ones(freedom os , xXx, Experience os) i have tried have been the almost the same offering battery speed and smoothness in general close to stock .Stock/Official OOS is optimized enough already that been said some kernels do help like i felt the phone a tad snappier with blu_spark and the battery to last a tad longer with Franco and with the new addition of ATK tweaks just flashing that might help you a bit in both aspects of performance and battery. Although I haven't tried flashing the atk tweak so i will inform you how much of an improvement is there.
Now trying the major oos roms i could say - xXx gives the most tweakablity compared to any oos roms and up-to-date tweaks so if you want fast updates on tweaks like modded youtube, Magisk and additions like google camera and dialer i would say go with xXx
Freedom os i guess i thought was a bit more performance based yet like a said difference is not noticeable
both oos roms offer debloating
Now if you want the same performance but stock os i would recommend trying pure fusion it provides stock os with oos camera
Freedom OS and use franco kernel. His improvements on everything about the stock experience is way better. The man even reduced power consumption with the display. So without his kernel the display eats more juice just being on. Its better to just install a stock based rom and use a kernel that sits in the background. Just install his kernel and forget it and roll with each new Freedom OS update.

You really need to do some reading on what a ROM/Kernel will and will not do for you. Data speeds, internet will be the same- Excluding any abnormal errors with a bad rom build.
Furthermore, *not necessarily*, but the faster you want things to go, it's likely that you may take a battery hit of trying to go faster than the device wants to..
Lastly, your question is akin to asking "What is THE best car out there for me?" Nobody on this planet knows but you. YOU need to test them. First take the car out for a spin, see what YOU like. Then get people's opinions. If you like it, then like it. Some people love the Honda Pilot. Other people like Chevy Camaro. Neither are bad cars inherently. Just different strokes for different folks.
ROMS are much of the same way. I personally recommend you try Freedom OS and XXX for the OOS based ROMS.
For custom based... I recommend trying Pure Fusion ROM + Flash Kernel, Paranoid Android Unofficial, Resurrection Remix Official (You NEED flash kernel or Bluspark, otherwise in my experience it's been quite laggy)
Why do you think you need to flash a custom ROM the minute you turn on your phone? The best setup I have found for speed and stability is stock OOS rooted with Magisk, using Blu Spark kernel with speed lane enabled. I tried both xXx No Limits and Freedom ROM which are OOS based. They are both terrible. The absolute only reason people don't realize that they are ROMs that are actually worse than stock OOS is because they are also people who flashed a custom ROM as soon as they got their phones and are simply assuming the custom ROM is superior to stock OOS which they never bothered to use in the first place. xXx No Limits is not only much more buggy than stock OOS but it is also slower. Freedom ROM was overly debloated by the dev who removed some system apps/processes from stock OOS that should not have been removed. Some apps that auto load automatically on stock OOS will not boot up with Freedom ROM no matter what you do. Other apps behave differently on stock OOS and Freedom OOS--ongoing notifications and status bar icons are missing when the apps are used in Freedom--things like that. Unless you plan on using an AOSP or LOS ROM there is no reason to flash a custom ROM. You are much better off staying on stock OOS and using a custom kernel made for stock OOS.

^ this. Finally someone speaking sense. Only thing I disagree with is custom kernels. Stock oxygen os kernel gives significantly better battery than the rest (except simplegx, which is stock with some tweaked governors).
If you want to make big improvements to battery life, figure out what you have for wakelocks and fix them. Also, get rid of Facebook and FB messenger app. These days a kernel won't magically since poor battery life due to wakelocks.
People here talking about XXX and freedom being "custom roms" when they're nothing more than stock oos wrapped in an aroma installer ?

That is only true for when the device is not in use (i.e., when in standby).
But what about when you're using it? Wakelocks are not a thing anymore.
So how will you improve battery life during usage?
Answer: With a custom kernel.
You can underclock the CPU/GPU, change some other parameters and get more battery life.
Sure, you sacrifice some performance, but the OnePlus 5 has plenty of horsepower under the hood, it won't bog down that easily.
I've been pretty frustrated lately, this stock touchwiz ui is so full on crappy bloatware that it consumes 70% of my ram, even though the full ram is only at 1.67GB, whatever rom I try either the nfc doesn't work or the phone stays very hot and drains the battery quickly!
Can anyone help out on a good rom my S5 G900I?
Help is greatly appreciated.
TIA!

I wouldn't look too much at numbers like RAM and cpu speed. I always ask myself: does it lag? how long does it last? . S5 seems to do ok with those questions even with stock ROM IMHO. Root + right apps/ mods and debloat should boost that even more.
Custom ROMs are always better of course. our G900I unfortunately misses out on the main development scene on XDA with 900F being the global version. Many of these ROMs actually run pretty well on 900I (my fav being phoenix ROM) but as you said the problem with these is that NFC don't work.
There was really only one ROM that I have tried that has been fully functional: Xtrestolite (touchwiz based) is excellent and light while having all features. The only con is that it is a lollipop ROM and few mods. especially theming i found lacking.
In theory omega ROM (touchwiz based) should be good too, but I've never tried. The old lollipop version supports 900I.
Alliance ROM (touchwiz based) looks good too in theory. I could never get it working well with the theming though... but never spent too much time with it. Alot of the mods seemed to rely on a cloud/data base that has been taken down.
Ressurection remix I found great. Every thing works fine. Battery to me is about the same. Its fast. Plenty of mods, theming and features. It is AOSP based. After a fair bit of use, I realised 2 things that differed: 1. camera sucks more 2. can't video call through the calling app. Everything else is just as good or better i reckon. Substratum themes = awesome. I'm currently on RR 5.8.5. It is Nougat 7.1.x . There is also an oreo version of RR but there are no custom kernels for oreo AOSP roms for our device so I'm sticking to nougat for now.
If any further questions or help required, ask away.
edit - there is a smartpack kernel for G900I/ kltedv oreo. However NFC doesnt seem to be working on it and I found oreo RR lacking in performance, stability and features compared with the Nougat versions. It is only in beta, so hopefully this will be ironed out in the near future.

LineageOS is officially supported for your device with android 7.1 Nougat. I dont have that specific model but ive never had problems with that os on my s5.
I am just telling my experience, all the Dev's are best, they are the ones who let me explore more in around android and it's versions.
I used custom roms on k5 plus 3gb for 2 years i think.
It was like first few months i used the original rom and then i voided the warranty with custom roms as i saw more possibility and newer versions of android coming better than what i had. I kept exploring every part of the phone, and whatever softwares i could use and get more from this phone. Few roms lasted around 4-5 months. I love the nougat roms still, there is a Android Q rom already here, amazing. It was a good experience, until this last few months i started to have battery drain faster when i would use the hotspot feature or use bluetooth for headsets, and gps was like the most battery drainer. I kept changing roms and seeing what would give more bettery life while using, the sleep/screenoff state uses like no energy and then opposite happen if i use in full brightness outside and gps
Then
today i just tried to see the stock rom backup is working or not, it did, and now i realise that the most stable rom is the stock rom that comes from lenovo. The battery life is just way better than any other roms (+1hour than what you get in current Oreo and pie roms), the performance is back, Dolby Atmos is back and works, the inbuilt vr works.
The apps which were quite heavy lagged in animations in custom roms, stock does it smoothly, and i didn't need to get a small gapps package for performance this time, stock has like most gapps i think and it's smooth.
New stuff like play protect, assistant, well-being, etc are now available for this old lollipop rom as well, most of the features in the future versions are now available to use with simple downloads and a few majisk modules, without harming performance.
i am not sure how secure the rom/os it self is with old security patches. But yeah original rom got to be top 5 in best rom/os available for this device in terms of overall usability in daily life.
Tell me what your experience has been, i will use the stock lenovo again now for sometime. And might get back to custom".:good:

Yes there are some minor issues & bugs but over all satisfactory experience.
Personally I will always stick with this ROM over Lenovo stock 5.1
Thanks.

Yep aosp 10 feels good.... I will use it when it gets a bit more updates
AOSP 10 has got another build. I guess the last possible build since Dev may be moving out of Vibe K5 Plus platform.
I have just upgraded to the new build & it's stable enough.
Yes although performance can't be called butter smooth but it's better than previous build & most of the phone features that I may need in daily usage are working fine.
Standby time is good but SoT is on lower side, but I can't blame the ROM, it's my battery which is very old & worn out by now.
Thanks. :fingers-crossed:
The best rom with extended battery life was AOSP extended. i used it for 2 years with Dolby atmos mode and it worked flawlessly. Stock rom eats up battery too fast.
