I have tried so many gcam ports so far but none of them seems to be stable enough it will eventually hang or get stuck after taking some shots continuously. Sometimes it will lag if I move around the phone and crash, sometimes it crashes right after opening. Then it will get stuck after clicking a picture and the entire os will hang for a few seconds and crash the camera app.
*during all the experiments with the ports I found out that the gcams based on version 5.1.018 are usable but not stable except the original google camera apk that I downloaded from apkmirror but it doesn't have portrait mode
I have tried (arnova's v7, v8, v8.1, v8.3b, cstark27's v3.6, v3.8, v4.1) and few other.
*CAN ANYONE SUGGEST A DECENT GCAM PORT?*
Try scrubber version.
I'm on Nokia 6.1 Plus, and arnova's v8.3b is working flawlessly.

Just after the post I found a working version ported from pixel 3 for Oreo devices ported from Mi8 so far I can remember that worked smooth but just after a day got the Pie update and it stopped working. No worries found another one from arnova's that is for OP6 and it's working flawlessly on Nokia 6.1 running on Pie. Thanks for the response though. Link below, try if you want to

Just reporting in that a modified Camera NX, which ports the Pixel 2's portrait mode, is working on my Le Max 2 running the Lineage OS 14.1 (23rd Dec nightly). I have the stock LOS cam and another GCam also installed.
It has been modified to work on nougat devices. Link to the original comment and apk is here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75044279&postcount=2251
Portrait mode looks amazing. Works only on the back camera though. I didn't make any modifications to the app. It worked right out of the box.
Video recording doesn't work.
For me it fully works on AICP 13.1 (Oreo 8.1). Portait mode is awesome.

That's nice! With Oreo it's working on both, the front and back cameras.
We need to keep tabs on development for Nougat ROM's. Only thing missing is the portrait mode on the front and ARcore+ARstickers support (not 100% sure about this).
I'm really hesitant to switch to an Oreo ROM right now because of stability issues.
For Nougat. Tested on Omni 7.1.2...

Not the front camera though. Right?
On acip 13.1 build 030118 it's a little bugg, frontcam portrait mode works but I have a green overlay on the pictures... Any solution for this?
Wich config do u use for it?
I can confirm the green tint problem in nougat too (LOS 14.1).
The file I'm using is called GCam5.1.018-Arnova8G2-V1.3-Front-HDR+.APK

Ok, I admit I did not check front camera (as I never use it) and on AICP 13.1 there is some problem with green tint and stability of the app.
The rear camera is ok, the bokeh looks nice.
I use this version: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=889964283620775729

Yeah, I'm using that on ACIP Oreo and there is a definite green tint on the front camera portrait pics. Shame, as they are very good otherwise but the only thing you can do to make them usable is apply a B&W filter. Back camera works well.
I have tried most of these Google Camera Portrait apks and always when I try it take a portrait picture the app always renders is as a HDR photo, is there any fix and is anyone else getting the same problem, I have tried AICP 8.1 and Nougat ROMS but I am having no luck at all.

I also have green tint on main/rear camera and can't solve the problem for over a month.
All OREOs more or less with all Gcam mods + EUI6.0 have green tint.
Only Android 6.0.1 and Mokee 7.1.2 take pictures without green tint.
GoogleCamera-Pixel3Mod-Arnova8G2-V3.apk has no green tinting... ?

Thank you dude for your attention to non mi5 users... Much much appretiated... We've noticed that portrait mode doesn't work on our device.... I'm personally running PureFusion OS 8.0 with latest app version which is 1.5beta...
Sent from my HTC 10 using XDA Labs
Thank you @Arnova8G2 so much for responding to Thread that is Not Mi5 actually HTC 10 have good Hardware and we wonder why the Gcam doesnt work so good like in Other devices.
For me the only Version that work on Android Nougat Sense Based ROM is Arnova 1.2 based on 5.18 Gcam this is the best build so far only the Front Camera doesnt work crashesh on this build and the Slow Motion but this is not important
I hope we to have just one one Build that will be able to work smooth without crashesh to use the Google Camera potential
for Portrait Mode and all other stuffs for now are just Dreams for HTC 10
Is there anyone with working portrait mode?? (htc 10 Android 7.0)
@Arnova8G2
I found a Gcam port that WORK Superb on Nougat 7.0 Sense HTC 10 ROMs.
Everything is super no laggs at all the front facing camera is working too with HDR+ the Back as well. Auto no config settings all is auto.
The Camera UHD 1080 720 everything work perfectly fine and smooth!
RAW is working too.
The only thing that is not working but is there is the Portrait just gives me a black screen.
The App is using Huawei Marker so we can have this as a base because its seems superb fast camera.
Tonight will upload it when i come back home.
This that will make this apk BEST port of the Gcam for HTC 10 is
to adjust the JPG quality to 100%
and if posible to try fixing the Portrait mode!

after opening the gcam instantly out gcam in recent ,
dont clear the recent,
(wait 30 sec to 1 min )
reopen gcam from recent.
this worked for me
I have checked 6.1 from cstark27 but front camera works bad - I mean, usually if there is at least a little greenery in the background, gcam make whole picture green.
I wanted check also 6.2 and 6.2 version, but it seems like, it cant be installed
try out different gcams
Arnova's Advanced 1.7 works fine for me
Gcam_6.1.021_Advanced_V1.7.190716.1800
xtrme's Xcam works as well
MGC_6_1_021_xcam6_beta11
Every 6.1 versions have front cam issue, you should have 5.1 version for selfies
Hi,
I've just installed Lineageos 18.1 on my OnePlus 6T.
One killer-feature I used to play with, was the portrait mode in the camera function provided by Oneplus ROM.
I can't find it in Lineageos, not the camera but the portrait mode.
Did I miss something ?
Thanks
Maybe an answer for myself: reinstall camera app from original OnePlus OS.
Looks like working.
Deeper testing progress.
I'm actually surprised it works? Most people use GCam.
Personally on the 6T and 18.1 I'm using GCam_7.3.018_Urnyx05-v2.4.apk
Links from Celsoazevedo.com
There are several XMLs there for the 6T you can try. Personally I'm using, urnyx-7.3.018-v1.4.xml
Actually my daughter has a 5T with OxygenOS and send me the OnePlus Cam apk.
Once installed, it works but seems a bit... don't know what word to use, "not good as on OOS" (slow, blury, crashes sometimes).
I've also installed Gcam but with Play store (4.4. 020).
Is your version safe and stable?

All the phones I've known to get the OP Camera to work on Custom roms also needed the libraries associated with the camera and gallery. Most people don't bother anymore because GCam works as good or better. With caveat of GCam does require Gapps to be installed to function typically.
That is the site many people here on XDA use. I've been using it for a very long time, and use it across multiple devices to find GCam versions and XML files. Those various developers usually have XDA threads here as well. You'll find links back to their threads on that site (It just hosts their builds).
I just suggested that as a starting point, as I believe everything is functioning in that version? It's the one I've been using.
Many thanks for your feedback and advises.
I've installed app and xml from website you've mentioned. Looks working perfectly fine (some lag for portrait mode but not annoying).
Keep digging in the app.
Thanks again !!!

Delay? Granted, I have an 8T in front of me at the moment and not a 6T, I can test later on a 6T.. However have you tried turning HDR Enhanced to just On. Don't be afraid to try various versions or XMLs (just remember which one works best). That was just the one that I've been using. You may find one that works better. Also note I know even Urnyx05 has newer versions. Typically once I find a version that works for me I'll stick with it.
That's the good and bad thing about GCam, tons of options and things to play with.
