Best After market turbo charger? - Moto G5 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi all,
My original turbo charger died after I man handled it.
I'm looking for a good turbo charger (not the original one coz it costs ₹1200/-) on Flipkart as a sale is going on currently.
Any recommendations from long term users?
Thanks.

I would say don't use Turbo Charger, fast charger generally degrades the battery life. If your stock charger is not working then you should buy a 5V 2A aftermarket charger which will work fine. Flipkart SmartBuy 2A Fast Charger will do the job, I'm using this charger right now.

Buy any fast charger that supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 i.e the same technology used in Moto turbo chargers.

Well, to preserve battery life expectancy, I've ordered a Sony 2.1A charger from Flipkart for 250/- (on offer though)

Okay.
But you will definitely miss the fast charging.

I don't know about Flipkart, but Aukey Quick Chargers have always worked well for me... Remember, Turbo Charge is just Quick Charge without the Qualcomm licensing fee.

Yeah, totally but it's already a 1.5 year old device, got it as soon as it came out. So I'd better off preserve the life span of this original battery. I charge the phone over night however.

Like I said, I don't know anything about Flipkart but here is an Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/AUKEY-Charger-Samsung-Qualcomm-Certified/dp/B018RR30TK
I have several of these... Once at work, one at home, one in my overnight bugout bag, and one in my computer bag, plus I think my kids have a couple as well, you get the idea.
The work on anything, Pixel, Samsung, LG, Moto, whatever (except OnePlus and a couple others), but they support Quick/Turbo charging on anything that supports Qualcomm Quick Charge or Moto Turbo Charge (it is literally the same thing, provided at the chip level of the Snapdragon processor).

[Q] Will the qualcomm quick charge 2.0 works..?

Hi guys,
I think I'm going to buy a moto x play, can anyone of you confirm or deny that quick charge 2.0 will work..? I'm asking this because I can get a quick charge 2.0 charger for about 10 Euros, 13 Euros less than a motorola turbo charger. I've looked into qualcomm's site, but moto x play isn't on the list of devices that support quick charge 2.0.

How much time its takes to charge through quick charger.
Yes I'm a bit new to this idea of the Quick Charge thing. How does this work? It obviously must be supported by the chipset, which I guess in this case (XT1562) it is. But then do you need a special USB Cable or Wall Adapter? Thanks guys!

Using the same with 1 port. Charges very fast only the device gets very warm when charging.
Takes about 1h 30m from low to full battery.

I m using TRONSMART turbo charger and it takes around 90 min to full charge from 6% battery..
I'm using an Aukey single port Quick Charge 3.0 charger https://www.amazon.co.uk/Quick-Charge-3-0-USB-Charger/dp/B01A42R46G/ no point buying a 2.0 charger when you might as well get a 3.0 one for around the same money and future proof yourself a little bit.
Works a treat and charges the phone very quickly indeed (albeit at 2.0 speeds) no special lead required, just any good quality one will do.
Quickcharge works fine with cm13,maximum current up to 2.45A

Mine works with variety of QC2.0 chargers
Note 7 one (with retail package)
Anker
Tronsmart.
I have charged mine with my brothers stock nexus 6p charger and it charges pretty fast. Havent timed them or anything but its definitely as fast as the stock v20 one. Only problem is if its safe or not since there is that whole debate about Qualcomm's QC 3 not being compliant with the USB Type-C charging standard.

I use standard USB brick with 2A/10W capacity. Phone accepts ~1600mAh during primary stage which is reasonable given device specs. A full charge can usually be achieved in under 3 hours.

Yeah some people got 10w charger. I am just wondering what if i use turbo charger. I spoke to customer care they said it will. I found same news on Reddit pages, they are getting good backup of 6hrs. Is that a turbo charger of yours?. If not what's difference in Amps between normal charger band turbo charger?

Skip the overpriced turbo charger which will not yield better performance on this device. Fastest uptake is around 1600mAh which is well within reach of any reasonable 10W charger. A few higher end devices support Quick/Turbo charging (including the G4/G4 Plus) which allows the battery to briefly accept a higher charge rate for a quick 15 min boost (say from 60-80%). Otherwise they perform the same as standard chargers. Score one for the marketing department if you buy in for G4 Play which technically has the hardware to handle turbo charging; however, by all accounts (and my observations) it is not enabled by Motorola...likely due to the run-of-the-mill battery in this device.

I've used the turbo charger that came with the moto g turbo and it charges noticeably faster(also gets hotter).
The battery once fully charged lasted the same amount of time for me with both the stock and the turbo charger, so no problems there.

Can i use a quallacom quick charge charger rated at [email protected] (i guess what turbo power gives is 9v at 1.67A)
P.s both give charging current of nearly 2500ma in ampere app,my original moto charger is not wrking and i am out of warranty
Yes I use my samsung charger (9v 2amp) on my G4 all the time shows as turbo charger when plugged in.
Yes, you can use a QC 1.0, 2.0, or 3.0 charger with this phone... although I would HIGHLY recommend only using a QC 3.0 charger if possible, it is much better at delivering variable power needed for quick charging and controlling temperatures in the battery. When you use a QC 1.0 or 2.0 charger, the phone has to step down to that version, which will still charge faster than a "standard" charger, but it will increase battery temperatures while charging significantly which over extended use can reduce the overall life and capacity of the battery.

What is?
I don't think you understand, there is no charger specifically for the SD625 or any other chipset... this is merely Qualcomm's Quick Charge technology, but Moto/Lenovo didn't want to pay the licensing/royalty or whatever else to call it that, so they call it TurboPower. I have a Qualcomm QC 2.0 adapter here at my desk and if I connect it, it clearly says "TurboPower Connected".

Again, I don't understand what you mean. The SD625 support Quick Charge 3.0, but the charger supplied with the device is a QC 2.0 compliant adapter that is labeled "TurboPower", at least in the US. If I connect a Samsung GS7 to the Moto charger, it shows Fast Charging as well.
I am not trying to be argumentative, but I don't understand what are you trying to say here.

According to reputable reviews, it's Quick Charge 3.0:
https://www.androidcentral.com/moto-g5-plus
https://www.androidheadlines.com/2017/03/moto-g5-plus-android-smartphone-review.html
However, "officially" according to Lenovo, it supports Quick Charge 2.0 but even when asked directly they do not state that it does or does not support 3.0.
I have a USB diagnostic device but I don't know if that will tell me the answer, since I don't own a 3.0 capable charger currently.

Ok, using "highly" and "much better" here might have been a bit overkill... From 1.0 to 2.0 the difference is huge, from 2.0 to 3.0 not so much, especially on a device like this that isn't drawing a ton of current consistently.
Is a 3.0 charger better for the longevity of the battery, and thus the device, over the long term? Yes. Is it significant enough to pay the extra over a 2.0 charger? That's your call... After a year or so of consistent use it might not even make a significant difference in battery life, it may add a month ot two to the longevity of the phone over it's lifespan, no one can say for sure because each case is unique.
My chargers, except car chargers, far out last my phones, I've had the same charger on my nightstand for 4-5 years now (seriously, it's from a Blackberry Playbook) so it's an investment...
I don't understand the issue here... A good QC 3.0 charger is a few bucks more than a 2.0 charger, and if you look you can get one for $10-$12, so is two or three dollars worth worrying about this?
If you are just concerned about what is best for the battery, never use a quick charger at all...

That is my charger at work... If you have a QC 2.0 charger, don't bother getting a new one. If you are buying one, get a 3.0 one.
I know this thread is a little dated and I'm a late comer to this thread, but I just bought the g5 plus on a black friday deal at best buy $300 down to $225, US xt1678 variant, 64gb storage and 4gb ram, I jsut could not resist it for that price, and....it was actually cheaper than the 32gb storage 2gb ram variant which was listed at $229
Anyways on to my question, this is for acejavelin. You said your qc 2.0 worked and came up as showing turbo charging (not just normal charging)? I hope I am reading this correctly. Also is this one of those Qualcomm® Quick Charge 2.0 chargers, that's what I was looking at buying for my car and was curious if it worked. Just checking to make sure I'm reading the thread correctly.
I recently just bought a 2.1 fast charge lighter plugin, but guess what, it doesn't turbocharge only normal charge. I tried with the cord that came with the phone, as well as 2 other cords and still only normal charge for each one.
Now with my wall charger (the provided turbocharger that came with the g5 plus) in the house, all 3 cords work and show as turbocharge as long as I am using the provided moto turbo charge wall charger.
I also was curious and tried an old samsung charger that I used on I think it was the s4, last samsung I owned lol. With my nexus 5x which has USB-C worked wonderfully with it, but sadly turbo charge does not work so well with the samsung wall charger, because it does not show as turbo charge, but only normal charge on the g5 plus.

Does any other charger fast charge the 6T?

I was just about to go pick up a 6t but then I realized the charger is proprietary... so does that mean that none of the other fast chargers on the market can charge it quickly? That's kind of a pain in the a..
I haven't found it conclusively stated like that but can somebody clarify?
I have a tablet charger for my old Shield; it charges the 6T pretty fast. Not quite as fast as the official charger but faster than a regular small charge block.
Don't let charging blocks stop you from buying it. It is a beast, with great battery life, and it soaks up the juice quickly.

Ugh you dont get it LOL. We have had QC compat phones for years. I have at least 6 different wall chargers, QC chargers in all 3 cars, QC battery packs for each of us not to mention the cables.
By the time I am done replacing what I need I may as well buy a Pixel 3 for the price diff.

Quick charge 3.0 doesn't work for me with 6t. It charges at max 1.5A and takes significatly longer to charged compared to Dash charge. You'll have to purchase dash charger and cable for your car, if you really want fast charging.
I rarely use the fast charge. I prefer the SLOW charge. Now, I DO use fast charge maybe once a month for a quick 1/2 fill up
if I know I'm going to be away from an outlet a while.

Ok I get what you are saying, but battery life on 6T is so high that say 20 minutes of suboptimal charge from your existing QC charger will probably give the 6T the same usage time as that 20 minutes of optimally charging a Pixel.

No there is no quick charging other than OnePlus's. QC Fast Charge standards don't work, and the device will only charge at 5V speeds.
