The phone responds very unreliable when I say "ok google" . sometimes I have to speak very loud and up to 5 times until it responds.
Same problem.....
I've seen this complaint on the internet but I think my unit works good enough

The same problem
Yesterday I bought the phone and by mistake when inserting sim card press on the microphone, I hope this is not my problem.

Is anyone having a problem where their HD2 is calling the last person you've contacted?
I've been having this problem for a little while now, whenever I plug in my headphones with mic it seems to think I've pressed the action button on them and it starts dialing.
This is not only relevant to headphones with mics, or headphones at all.. because this seems to be happening with my brother as well, except he never uses headphones
I feel that maybe the static build-up, from the friction while having the phone in the pocket, reaches the headphone port sending a pulse, where the phone interprets it as an action.
Mine does it all the time. When the headphones are plugged in it ques up voice dial and calls the last contact as well. It has done this with the default HTC music app and with pocket music and slacker radio. It is so friggin annoying.
is there a way to disable it? it's a little annoying.
Not that I know of. I think it may be a bug in the os of the phone. At first I thought it may be the cookies home tab app i was running but after a while of not using it and running the phone just like it came outta the box it did it again. It doesnt always do it though. It seems almost random. But I really dont know either. maybe it could be a app that we have installed that might be causing it. i wish someone here knew what it is that is causing this. BTW i am using a launch phone. it was one i bought the day it launched. it even has a slightly pinkish hue compared to my friends who bought his 3 months later than me. i will ask him if he has experienced any of the random last contact calling while hooked up to head phones.
Om so I talked to my friend and he said his phone does it too. I am using headphones that did not come with the phone. Could that be why?

No it's a weird bug in the phone, sometimes when you plug in the headphones and spin the jack it does the "action button" which means music or redial or starts the MSVC
It's not exactly a software bug. It is more of a hardware problem. It may have to do with the headphone that you are using. Usually with a headset, there is button to make the phone dial or hang-up. That button is missing in a regular stereo headphone. When the headphone is plugged in, it can inadvertently be sensed by the phone as though the dial button has been pressed. There might be a way to deactivate this function in software. Maybe someone who knows how can chime in.
like you said... it's a hardware problem... I searched for a solution... because for some reason my father's phone keeps re-dialing by itself... AND HE DOESN'T USE HEADPHONES! Stupid phone...
The problem happens to me from time to time... once it kept doing it every 3 seconds, it would play music.
One of my friend's Galaxy S2 started doing something weird after the second day of using it. Whenever we have the wired headset (samsung provided) connected to the phone and we initiate a call from the phone, the phone's speakerphone function gets turned on automatically and all the conversation sound comes through the phone's speaker instead of the headset..which is not right at all. This happens even if we try doing voice dialling. How does it do this and is there a way to stop this?
see the inserion pattern of headset....may be its plug not inserted completely......
same problem i have faced when i bought it.....then i inserted fully....its fixed now...
may be urs will i hope...

well that was the first thing i checked because i know with these samsungs you gotta force that headset jack quite hard in to the click..its definitely not that..its clicked in..but the problem still exists unfortunately..and this friend of mine is going nuts over it because its all good on my galaxy s2
On calls I get popping sounds. a few times the pops have been so loud I almost dropped.
The microphone is also really low. people can't hear me I use to be able (Gnexus) to set the phone down and talk with it on the computer table next to me but now they can't hear me.

Standard 'is this a hardware problem?' test:
1. If you are on a custom ROM, flash completely back to stock and retest.
2. If you are already on stock, backup all your data and factory reset. Even better, completely wipe the phone and re-install stock and retest.
3. If the issue still occurs, the issue is most likely with the hardware. If the issue no longer occurs, then it was a software problem.
4. If I understand this reply correctly, you have already received a replacement device and the issue still occurs. In this case, you happen to be very unlucky.
As for the Nexus 4 in general, I can only speak anecdotally. I don't have the issue on the seven Nexus 4 devices I've tested: two of my own, three from coworkers/friends who also own the device, and two test devices.

Since the issue only happens during Skype calls and not while using the standard calling function, I would blame this issue on VOIP quality: either your latency is high, Skype is having quality issues, or some combination of the two. I have issues with Skype call quality on both my phone and my PC, and the issues are largely to do with Skype throttling the call bandwidth.
what about my mic issue the sounds very low. is there a way to change the gain on the microphone? I always use my phone by calling 1 of my friends I'm placing the phone beside my desk as I speak with them they can't hear me with this new phone they were able to perfectly hear me with the galaxy Nexus.

No advice?
Occasionally my mic goes on mute when I receive \ make a call. I have just updated to 5.1.1
There is no pattern and I have tried everything.
I have seen elsewhere that other handsets are suffering from this bug. Has anyone else had it and can offer a fix
It's the worst when using skype with earphones. Doesn't even work

i tought i was the only one, even when i answer a normal phone call it mutes itself "fixing it" by taping the speakerphone icon :L

Exactly! Also reboot fixes the issue but after some time it starts muting again. Happens only on outgoing calls for me. On incoming calls microphone works.
So the only solution is factory reset? Maybe new .570 firmware build will fix the problem...
I think you guys should also take about your issue in talk.sonymobile.com
I made a thread there called "Skype issue on 5.1.1" in the Z3 Compact section. Sony needs to see this.

I'm also having the same Issue and realize that the real problem relies on Google app. If you disable the "OK Google" recognition on any screen the mic will work as it is..

After much testing of features and apps i have got the problem down to either OK Google from any screen or Sony Smart Connect.
It is only when 1 of those features are enabled, does the mic mute sporadically.
There is no pattern and therefore can be absolutely certain. My instinct us Sony Smart Connect.
Can you guys try a skype call using earphones? It really doesn't work. I have smart connect and google app disabled anyway. The mic just refuses to work

Have you tried disabled and forced stop. Then reboot.

Tried it. Still doesn't work on skype on 5.1.1. With OK Google disabled and with Google app itself disabled

Nexus 4 same Problem. Only reason why I abandoned it and bought the z3c. Thought it was an hardware issue. Loved the device. Hrrgh.
Right now the z3c is in for repair. Display coming of and using the Nexus 4 again.
Following even more testing. I am convinced the problem is in Sony smart connect. disable and remove it.
Been working OK for a couple of days. Must reboot once deleted the app.
Note that some other apps have the same issue like Vidyo Desktop.
Trying to freeze off smar t connect, finger crossed
I have Mi Airdots S and to summon the Google Assistant, you double-tap the button on either headphone . If the screen is on and unlocked, everything works as expected. But if the screen is off and you want to talk to the Assistant while the phone is in your pocket (which would be a normal scenario when using headphones), all I get is a notification on the lock screen saying that you can use the Assistant with headphones while the phone is locked.
I've tried using a different pair of wireless headphones, and the result is the same. What I notice is that the microphone activates, but the phone does not receive its input. Which leads me to conclude it is not the fault of the Airdots, but this phone or MIUI 12. I've tried playing with all possible GA and phone settings, but to no avail.
Your help is appreciated.

Thanks for the answer, but that is not the issue I'm having. I don't need to wake up the phone by saying "ok google", I just want it to respond properly when I call for the Assistant using the double-tap on the headphone button.
Any other ideas?
