LCD/Digitizer replacement vs swapping motherboards - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an old N910F with a broken lcd digitizer that I am wanting to repair. I had rooted, flashed and tailored it to my liking. It took me a very long time to find this particular model (it has more developer support) as the majority of models in New Zealand are N910U.
Living here also makes it an expensive place to source replacement parts, to the point where I can buy great condition used Galaxy Note 4's for less than the replacement digitizers being sold here (which are likely just bought from ebay or aliexpress anyway).
My thought was that the best way for me to go about repairing my old N910F would be to buy a good condition 2nd hand Note 4 (that has never had a screen replacement and thus has a genuine lcd) and simply swap my N910F motherboard and various parts into the 2nd hand Note 4.
I've done this before with my girlfriends Samsung S4 with no issue and found it easier than when I repaired her S4 by swapping the digitizers, and I avoided having touch screen sensitivity issues.
But I am wanting to double check I shouldn't have any issues here with a motherboard swap from my N910F into a N910U chassis and screen.
My only thought would be that maybe there is a slight difference between the two (snapdragon vs exynos) but I am unsure and would really prefer to keep my N910F hence posting here.

Awaiting a new lcd and digitizer from china :)

I know it's probably going to be £50 badly spent but i just bought a samsung nx1100 smart camera and got the galaxy tab 2 7" free, the screen is pretty crappy compared to my broken nexus so I have bought a screen and digitizer from ebay..
Any tips/do's/dont's i should know about when replacing the screen or is it straight forward due to it being both parts?
Cheers guys/girls

[Q] Galaxy S4 i337m switch digitizer with a clone?

I've ordered a used Galaxy S4 on Ebay and received a cheap clone that i'd never used has my own device. It's one from Mediatek and i was wondering if i can at least use it's lcd/digitizer with a legit S4 i337m because i have one with the screen broken so i would at least not be losing everything on this? If not i'll just ask for a full refund and send it back to the seller.
no you cant the flex cables wont even be the same and i mean flex clabes as they are two different cables when the original s4 only uses one that connects to the logic board. the digitizer es integrated into the lcd screen and the flex is connected directly to the lcd screen on the back. It would have been alot better if you would have bought an lcd display for you model. and if you dont know how to take it apart you could buy one with the bezel for your model number. They sold me an lcd screen for 400 pesos and i replaced the glass using uv glue and it works perfect. and was a cheap fix. maybe you have a friend with a dead logic board and working screen or cracked glass where the lcd digitizer still work you should ask around may be cheaper with money on hand

It depends on if the clone uses a digitizer with the same connections, but most likely not. You could open them up and check if the frames and connections are the same, but each model S4 has the digitizer connections in a slightly different place

[Q] Swap logic board

I have a Verizon Note 3, and I broke the gorilla glass Then I broke the digitizer/OLED assembly "fixing" the broken glass
While new OLED assemblies are ~ $200 (used less), I found a whole phone (also Verizon Note 3) for $225. I'm picking it up tomorrow, but I imagine it'll be with OTAs and hard (impossible as far as I know) to root (mine was rooted and running great). Could I put my logic board in the working phone? Would that basically give me my old rooted firmware and even storage with a working screen?
Am I missing something? It seems easy enough (especially compared to removing the broken glass glued to the digitizer), but I didn't want to screw up (again).
Thanks!
fairly straight forward swap. use plastic tools and try not to damage the components on the motherboard. follow a disassembly guide. (not ifixit).

I found a nice set of tools for smartphones on ebay - cost was about $15 from memory and I got everything I've needed so far.
Nothing needs forcing - if it seems like it does, stop and think...
But then given what you've already tried, I guess you know this...

[Q] Question doing full glass and LCD replacement on ATT S4

I purchased a replacement LCD and glass + housing for my broken s4.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JB0YX58?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00
I went to work disconnecting the old connectors, MB and parts. When i was done the old phone and new phone looked exactly the same, except the old one was shattered. i installed all the parts and snapped it together, and it would seem i was done.
When i booted it up there is no display on the screen, although led lights turn on and i feel the vibration. No sound, and no picture on the screen. but i think the phone is on although when i make a call to it i could not tell if it was ringing. I feel the vibration kick in when i hit the down volume a few times.
Any help be greatly appreciated!
I`ve done glass screens on more Samsung galaxy phones than I can count, but not an LCD as the digitizer is not connected to the glass and does not need to be replaced unless it is also damaged. I can offer this, however (and hope it helps); I did an LG G Pro a while back, and their digitizers are built into the glass (therefore connected to the MB). It was an AT&T specific device, and the replacement glass was a universal replacement. The fit was perfect, but because the digitizer ID didn`t match what the processor was expecting it wouldn`t come on. The drivers aren`t compatible. I later learned that many AT&T devices have similar trouble with aftermarket parts. I have since repaired that same LG several times (not the most durable device I`ve owned) with AT&T compatible products and it`s been fine. If you`re just replacing broken glass, you can do it without replacing the LCD. It`s a time consuming PITA but once you`ve done it once it`s pretty swift from there on.
Again, it may not be the problem, but hoping my experiences will help.

Looking for a new Digitizer that is NOT a bad quality one

Hey,
I'm looking for a new Digitizer, I live in the UK so can't be buying stuff from America because postage is a joke
Most of the ones I've found online are poor quality ones that have no curved edge or bad led light area (a big clear circle) or only have support for 1, 3, 5, 6 multi touch points when it should be 10
Any recommendations?
Thanks

Are you referring to the glass on the front of the phone? The glass on front is basically a screen a protector. I believe the digitizer is beneath the LCD.
Even if he is referring to the digitizer or the whole assembly, to find original parts is really hard, leftovers from authorized lg repair centers sometimes end up on ebay/online shops but u need to have a good eye, plus they cost more from refurbished or counterfeit/compatible parts (pricing is not the only thing u must check). There are shops in the UK claiming that they have original lcd's/digitizers maybe they sell grade b lg parts maybe the real deal, so its easier to deal with them, a simple Google search will lead you to them so if the part u buy its not up to your standards u can return it. In the end even from China u can find screens which are really close to the original have the curved edges and support 10 finger touch but they might have other imperfections. So if you want the exact same screen which ur phone had from the factory ur best bet is UK shops or pay an lg service center... I won't name shops here but it's really easy to find them after all there are not many in UK that carry this parts for the specific device...
The glass is not the digitizer, or am I wrong? I have always assumed that the glass cover on the Nexus 5 and Nexus 4 were like the Samsung phones.

The digitizer is the layer between the glass and the lcd
