Hey guys!
After few days trying to fix the problem on my Nexus 6P, I still can't make it run properly so I decide to create a new thread asking you guys and this is my last hope for it. I had been using stock android 6.0.1 until I decided to upgrade to OTA 7.1.1 because I hate the notification on the statusbar. My phone worked fine, everything was OK on 6.0.1. After upgrading to android 7.1.1, my phone couldn't get any mobile signal. It still can detect the simcard, the sim toolkit app still shows but I can't use the network. Everything else works properly just like before upgrading. I tried to flash stock 7.1.2 n2g47o image from google; some custom roms like chroma, pure nexus, ressurection remix, flyme, ... and also tried to select automatic band but it is still the same. When I select automatic or any other band, it shows "select [band] unsuccessful". The service state shows "radio off" and I can't turn it back on in *#*#4636#*#*. Please help me! Thank you guys a lot.

Try the flash all bat with stock rom and then relock your boot loader

Are you with verizon, 7.1.1 has images for verizon only and except, may flashing one of those will fix your issue and use the flash all bat to wipe completely your phone.

Thank you guys and sorry for not saying, I flashed both 7.1.1 (NUF26N, Mar 2017, Verizon Only) and 7.1.2 (N2G47O, May 2017) with flash-all.bat follow the instruction here https://developers.google.com/android/images but it remains the same. I read on Nexus Community that Google developers released images that fix signal problems from Feb 2017. I'm downloading this 7.1.1 (NMF26F, Dec 2016. All carriers except Verizon) and will give it a try even when it was released on Dec 2016.

Hope you will fix it, if you got no success may you try flashing back to 6.0.0
Edit: check you imei, I will hope for you it doesn't show 0, then may you're f****d without a backup of your efs partition.

The guide has the re-lock part so I'm 100% sure I tried to re-lock the bootloader. Not only the Google guide but on other topics on xda and Nexus Community someone re-locked the bootloader and they fixed the problem. Therefor, I followed them to re-lock but still no service

I guess you flashed the backup, apn reset? Or flashing lineage?
Edit: take a look here, maybe deleting via fastboot and restoring with twrp will help

Sadly this problem ends up to hardware on other threads, hoping not for you

I lost the network right after I upgraded my phone through OTA ;( I flashed stock firmware right after that so I guess it's not come from EFS partition. I backed up all things with TWRP after I had finished the flash-all.bat process. I'm checking out the thread, maybe there's a way out?
Yesterday I brought my phone to Huawei service center in my country but they don't officially sell the Nexus 6P in my country so they didn't take the phone because they don't have anything to fix its problem.
I would try, seems that you got nothing to loose
I'm having the same problem.
I've tried everything you did and when I select automatic bands in 4636 it does successfully, but still no signal.
Also, when I search for network in the mobile settings it always error.
I noticed that my GPS also stopped working. I only can use apps like Maps if I'm connected to a Wi-Fi.
Since the GPS stopped working this makes me believe it's an antenna problem.
If I selected WDCMA Only my network goes to Global instead of what I've selected.
I have the xt1511 (US Nexus Version), but since Nexus is always unlocked I know it isn't a CDMA/GSM trouble.
My wife's 6P started doing this about a month ago where she would randomly lose service for a minute. Today she lost it completely and it seems like there is an issue internally with the radio. I've tried multiple sim cards, factory resets, flashing the latest factory image, trying an old radio version etc. It seems like there has to be some kind of defect. I would hang on to the phone just in case there ends up being a class action lawsuit. Her phone is exactly one year and one month old.
Im frustrated...
I bought my nexus 6p six months ago from a guy on ebay. I love the phone really, but one month later i had the battery problem, and i said well, it could happen, i bought a battery and changed it.
and yesterday, i lost signal. its dead. i tried everything in the forums, i locked it, got it back to stock. and nothing...
Now what?, we dont know if its a hardware problem or is it a software one.
Should I take it to a service center in the us? I have no warranty.
Update 06-12-17: so i kept readying and I saw someone solved the issue installing a factory image from febuary. I did it flashed it, then went into recovery and made factory reset. and it worked!!!! signal is backkkk! im soo happy!!!
Update 2 06-12-17: yeah i was happy, and soo i was going back to normal, i installed twrp, and root, phone boot up and again bye bye signal.
Update 06-14-17: Turns out that since I got to Colombia a month ago, this country has like a national IMEI list. Since I didn't subscribe my device the carrier blowies my phone and that why I had no service... Soo this ends my journey with the no service problem. They fixed it

Is your phone a H1511 or 1512? You didn't mention it explicitly but you may have changed the LTE bands using a hidden menu. Apparently this is a known bug with the hidden menu itself. Several people have had luck flashing an older version of Chroma and switching the band back to Auto. There is a link to the ROM for the 6P in this Nexus Help Forum. If you never used this menu before, you may just be able to access the menu and try setting to Auto first before flashing the ROM. You should get a confirmation that AUTO mode is selected. You also didn't explicitly mention whether the phone worked properly for a while AFTER your battery repair, OR was a direct result of your repair... which could mean it was damaged.

its the 1511 version. Yes the phone worked perfectly after the repair. I was in the US, and three weeks ago I came to colombia. Suddenly it stoped working a couple of days again. I tried the chroma rom. Selected the Auto band. but it did nothing, rebooted and everything but didnt work.
Earlier today i installed a older factory image and it work, i thought it was solved, then i flashed twrp, rooted and lost service again... tried the factory images again and nothing...

Well, I've just checked your latest update today.
What did you do to include your device in this national list? And how did you find out about this list? I need to check if Brazil has it as well. Do you still have signal without problem?
Thanks.

Hi
I have a Huawei ascend G7 purchased in the UK from “Carphone warehouse” who seem to have been the only UK supplier of this model
The model is G7-L01
Android 4.4.4
EMUI 3.0
Custom version CUSTC432D001
My problem is a few banking apps I rely on have now stopped working as their updated versions insist on android 5 or higher
There has never been an OTA update for this phone since I purchased It
The only official ROMS listed on their website I can find seem to be for the G7-L11
I contacted Huawei support who confirmed that the particular model and custom version I have has no official updates newer than I am currently running and there no planned updates for it.
What are my options for getting this phone upgraded ? if possible I’d like to go with a stock ROM. could I use one from another region ?
Although I’ve had lots of phones in the past that I’ve put custom ROMS on I’ve always tried to keep this phone as stock because the same banking apps I rely on wouldn’t work properly on my last phone because they detected it had been rooted.
Searching these forums I’ve found a few guides but nothing for the particular custom version I have. I don’t know if this matters ? I don’t want to risk bricking it with an incompatible ROM
Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer
OK this is weird.
3+ years of no OTA updates. I enquire with Huawei and am told there are none and it is out of support.
Less than a week later and I'm being offered an OTA update.
Staggering coincidence ?
Only thing is it is reporting that I should download and do an SD card update instead of an OTA update as it is detecting that my device has been "modified".
I seem to recall I unlocked it a long time ago to try and root it but the root was unsuccessful.
Update is Android 5.1
EMUI 3.1
G7-L01C432B350CUSTC43D002
I just need to find it somewhere :-/

Hi,
I also got this update notification on Saturday night. I have had this phone for 2 years now and never got a OTA notification until 2 days ago. The phone was working great, good battery life after 2 years and good performance. I use it mainly for youtube, whatsapp, some browsing, music, and calling.
Well, decided that updating to 5.1 would be a good idea but it hasnt. I cannot make any calls (phone disconnects and connects constantly to the mobile network, so every 2 seconds the "only emergency calls" message pops up and doesnt let me make calls). Same for receiving calls, when someone calls me it rings for 2 seconds and then it appears that call has been hung up, then it rings again, 2 seconds and hang up again... the constants connections and disconnections are drainning my battery (from 100% to 7% in 1.5 hours). Contacts didnt work and also messages either. As you go into one of them, it kicks you out of the list to the main screen. Of course this issue affects Data Mobile; I cannot use my phone internet unless its by Wifi.
Going into airplane mode stopped drainning problem plus contacts and messages are working now, but as soon as you turn airplane mode off you wont be able to go into contacts or messages/signal problems back.
Nothing of this happened when I had 4.4.4 version, so its clearly a software issue. Im gonna try doing a hard reset/factory defaults, since I could backup my contacts. And if this doesnt solve the problem, I think the best idea would be custom ROM/go back to 4.4.4.
This is a good phone, if good software is installed on it. It can last some more years.
@g7l01
Hi. I had exactly the same problems on my moms Ascend G7. She updated that OTA and mobile network got constantly shut off and on again. I solved it by doing a backup by Huawei HiSuite over PC. And then reflashed version 340 again manually (instructions at Huawei-Blog). Mobile networks are working again after flash but phone is still not working 100% correct. She gets randomly her mic muted in most calls, or recently her "back" button in navbar disappeared today...?
I'll either downgrade to 4.4.4 version or try lineage os soon.

I solved it too! In my case I backed up my contacts to the micro SD card and did factory wipe/reset from the recovery menu (by restarting and pressing vol+ + power). I had all my data in my micro SD card so there wasnt any need to backup or anything. After doing this factory reset everything is working fine: phone signal, calls, contacts, messages, battery life, etc. I installed back the few apps I had and now everything fine, even performance is good! same as in 4.4.4. Im gonna stick with lollipop for a while, If I find any issue itll be time for a custom ROM or downgrade to 4.4.4
Cheers:good:
Hey you know how to to root g7l01
I considered posting on the main question thread, but I am requesting a comprehensive response and therefore feel a standalone post was warranted.
I am on my third PH-1 and am now scared of touching it. I need your help.
Here is my background: I received my first PH-1 in October 2018; I used it stock with a Verizon sim card and had no intention of rooting it or doing anything custom. A nice solid phone. Then, at the start of November, it rebooted and the digitizer froze out of nowhere. I knew that it had recently ran a System Update to Pie that had been prompted (apparently an OTA update). I got it to unfreeze via Safe Mode. Then it soon rebooted again out of nowhere and the digitizer froze a second time; completely unresponsive. I did another couple reboots and it unfroze, then froze a third and final time that evening. I thought it was my fault; that some app I loaded from the store killed the phone. I contacted essential support; I erased the phone via the factory reset, but the digitizer did not respond. Essential warranty replaced the phone.
I received my second phone at the end of November. I did not check what version or anything and like a good user, I ran the prompted System Update (to Pie) and reduced the number of apps I installed to the bare minimum. At the end of that week, the digitizer on this new second phone ceased working immediately after a reboot. I got it to come back two more times (again), but it eventually froze just like the first one. Essential support explained that this may be due to not having the correct kernel updated on my phone prior to accepting the OTA update. Essential warranty replaced the second phone.
I now hold in my hands the third Essential phone.
It is 7.1.1, Kernel 4.4.21-perf+
System Update keeps prompting me to download and install PPR1.181005.099
I am technically proficient, however am new to rooting and updating Essential phone firmware.
As I understand it, I need to get to the latest kernel version before I can update the Android version, as updating to the latest Android would again disable the digitizer.
How do I do that?
I have done the following so far:
Read through this guide: https://mata.readthedocs.io/en/latest/
Read through this firmware dump post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/essential-phone/development/stock-7-1-1-nmj20d-t3701681
Own a Windows 10 machine
Purchased a non-stock USB C cable - Monoprice Essentials USB Type C to USB-A 2.0 Cable - 480Mbps, 3A, 26AWG, Black, 0.5m (1.6ft) #27932 https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=27932
Installed Essential-PH1-WindowsDrivers.exe
Unpacked platform-tools_r28.0.1-windows.zip
Charged my phone
Activated developer options
Enabled OEM Unlocking
Disabled automatic updates (system and apps)
I am completely lost as to what my next step(s) need to be and I truly would appreciate being walked through this. At worst, I just want to disable the prompt to run a System Update and then survive like a Neanderthal on Nougat.
Can someone please help. Thank you.
Of note, I actually fear for new, non technical, PH-1 owners who, upon receiving phones during the window I also received mine, have had their digitizers fail. So far, I feel alone as the only one with this problem.
I am also prompted to update Essential Services and Essential Resources from Google Play Store, but I am hesitant to do so.
This is the thing.. Unless you want to root your phone and or flash custom roms? Don't do anything but take the friggin OTA. Period, The second you unlock your bootloader and start messing with stuff it becomes your brick and not Essential's problem. That's my two cents bud.

I got my ph1 (halo grey) in Sep 2018, from Amazon during sale period, it came with 7.1.1 installed, I immediately took all updates (incl Essential ones from Play store) & am now on Android 9 build you list above & dec security patch. No problems with digitizer, but I've not rooted this phone or unlocked BL, as yet. No problems with digitizer. This doesn't seem like a common problem (not that I've read all the older posts) so maybe it is due to some other mod or app on your phone, though not sure what kernal my phone come with, now its 4.4.162-perf+
