Oreo and Bluetooth - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've tried some of Oreo builds for klte and all of them have the same problem - randomly disconnecting bluetooth devices.
I've tried 2 Pie build as well and this problem still occurs.
Is there any Oreo or Pie build not affected by this BT bug?

I'm affected by this too. I've not yet found any ROMs which are ok. I've tried nougat roms: lineage, resurrection remix, crdroid, havoc.
I have my mi band 2 (Bluetooth low energy device) connected constantly and my headphones connected most of the time. What happens for me is that Bluetooth actually crashes and is temporarily unavailable, causing client devices connections to drop.

I have the same problem. Usually it is with my 2005 car and I thought perhaps it was the fact that an old bluetooth standard not being compatible. I was wrong.

Strange bluetooth problem after upgrading to 6.0

Hello,
Where my bluetooth previously worked on Android 5.0, ever since upgrading my i9505 to 6, Bluetooth does seem to connect, but calls still go though the speaker and I cannot change it to Bluetooth mode (my car, however, sees it). And when hanging up the phone, the phone will say "Hanging Up" yet still stay connected for what seems to be an indefinite amount of time - or until I restart the phone. Needless to say, callers on the other end cannot hear me. And, when playing music, the car's head unit does show that it's playing but again, music comes through the phone's speaker only.
Any advice? I've already tried flashing AOSP 6.0 and Kushan CM 13.0 and it's the same thing on both.
Thanks.

Simple
6.0 Rom bugs.
Wait until they are fixed
They all are based on the same code. So if one roms has it they all have it.
Keep in mind that MM is brand new so you just have to be patient for it to be fixed.

In a strange coincidence, I had all sorts of trouble on my i9505 with Bluetooth on 5 but is mostly resolved on 6 (CM 13 official).

same here, but now i have new one's like connecting my mi band at all :/
I also had problems with BT with the CM13 Official Nightlies, and also with the Resurrection Remix.
But I now use the JDCTeam 6.0.1 ROM, and I don't have BT issues, I only use my BT in car, but I can send and receive phone calls, and also stream my music via BT.
Furthermore, almost everyone complains about the no sound with the calling issues.
I also had those issues back to the official CM13 and the RR 6.0.1 versions.
For me, this ROM is really good, you would maybe give it a try.
I use an old bootloader, the FNB8, but it seems to work pretty fine.

Any ROM/KERNEL/RADIO/Combo that will guarantee stable WiFi and Bluetooth?

I've been using Nexus 4 for 4 years now and only last year I began to need bluetooth in it for BT Keyboard and a mouse. That's when I discovered problems with this phone.
Using bluetooth and Wifi at the same time was impossible - WiFi would disconnect and I'd have to reconnect it manually each time - so I used a WiFi watchdog-reconnecter app for that, but still it was really annoying and caused few seconds internet outage each minute.
Then few months ago I've started using a smartwatch with smart notifications via bluetooth - and Nexus had problems with pairing and then with keeping the connection with the watch - it would randomly disconnect or I'd have to reboot the phone to try and connect the watch again. Watch automatically scans for the phone and tries to autoconnect to it - but Nexus is so terrible at it. I've tested the watch with other smartphones and none had these issues - all was flawless.
These problems all occured for me on all ROMs I've used with Android 4.4+ and I've tried stocks, EuphoriaOS, Chroma, PureNexus and now DirtyUnicorns. If I remember well, I had better bluetooth times with Chroma, but that I'll have to test again to make sure.
So guys here are my questions:
1. Do you know if Nexus 4 WiFi/Bluetooth problems were ever finally solved with a patch?
2. If you can relate your position to mine (using a smartwatch or something else that needs to reconnect to the phone automatically) then do you have these problems? If not, which ROM are you using and which kernel?
3. I've read that kernels don't matter in bluetooth and that it's mostly ROM based issue? Is that true, or maybe a specific kernel helps for these problems?
I'm using bluetooth to play music.
In the past I've had issues with audio cutting out over bluetooth on the official firmware. At some point it got fixed but I cannot remember when exactly.
Right now I am using PureNexus 6.0.1-20160311 and the audio problems came back.
That's all I can say but I did have a reliable ROM in the past.
Edit : I just installed the latest CM13 snapshot (2016-04-29) with Hellspawn r12 and Bluetooth audio stopped skipping.
I'm on the Resurrection Remix ROM, with no problems but I only use Bluetooth for the occasional file transfer.

Bluetooth issue i9505

Dear forum,
really looking for some help with the bluetooth connection and/or some pointers into the right direction.
Before anyone asks, yes I have searched the forum(s) and googled days in a row, tried several builds and found a lot of bluetooth questions/issues but not this specific issue nor a solution.
Have a S4 i9505 which has a perfect bluetooth connection with my Renault Carminat system using the stock rom. As I had other issues with the stock rom, I rooted and upgraded the phone to Optimized LineageOS 14.1 (7.1.2). When pairing the phone to the car, it all works fine (it doesn't disconnect - which is a commonly reported issue). media streaming works fine, the car audio system also responds to the phone (and vice versa), contacts are imported etc. The big issue is however that there is no sound (nor receiving nor sending) when a call is received and/or intitiated.
In my quest to resolve this issue I let the dealer upgrade the firmware of the car audio system, tried with at least two different (but similar) S4 i9505 phones on custom roms, tried several other custom builds (from CM12 to CM14), tried an older but also the latest modem/BL for my region (XXSPQA1), tried some nightly builds but in all cases the exact same issue remains. Only when I go back to the stock rom, I have again a perfect bluetooth connection. A S5 (with stock Android 6) can connect to my system without issues as well.
So my thoughts are that the issue lies within custom roms as even a custom rom based on the same Android version as stock rom doesn't work properly.
Any thoughts what I can do more? Is it possible to copy the BT files from the stock rom and copy it to the custom rom? Any ideas? If it can help to post certain logs I will absolutely do so. Phone is on stock rom again now.
Thank you for your support!
I have exactly the same issue on my I9505, every time i connect to bluetooth (previous car, new car bluetooth speaker calling seems to work , but ther is no sound (only the end of call beep. and also, after disabling bluetooth, the sound is still not working ... i have to reboot my mobile to be able to call again. i hope this issue can be resolved
( when connecting to a bluetooth device for playing media blutooth works )
Same here. I hear a distortion sound when a call is made though. Worked fine with 5.X and broken in 8.0 and 8.1. I tried various modems as well. I even changed codecs in the developer options and didn't find one that worked. i9505

bluetooth issues after oreo update

Hi,
After updating to oreo (clean flash) i have issues connecting to my car bluetooth (vw tiguan). it keeps disconnecting every 5 sec. randomly (very rare) it works without pb.
i tried changing bluetooth codec (sbc, aptx, aptxhd), or avrcp version (1.4, 1.5, 1.6) the pb still remains
any help? suggestion? or a way to post logs?
With Nougat it never happened
Thanks
Similar issue here. I have a fully clean flash of OOS5.0 (because I douched my storage the first time) and bluetooth seems fine sometimes, and other times it's totally borked. I listened to 2 hours of podcasts without issue, then it just constantly disconnected/reconnected. I tried rebooting, unpairing, changing codecs...same issue. Next day, it's totally fine again.
My seat Leon my 16 discover pro does mostly not connected automatically on Oreo.
Tried cleanflash of oreo, no change.
Back to 7.1.1 everything fine.
My case is similar but slightly different. My car is an old one (Seat leon from 2005) which Bluetooth connection is used only for phone calls. This seems to be working fine.
However I'm using an add-on to connect multimedia through Bluetooth to the radio, and this add-on is not working fine with my Oreo OP5.
So I guess the problem for the other reported issues should be related to the multimedia connection instead of the phone one.
Absolutely
Phone calls are working fine
On my VW Golf VII not connected automatically on Oreo. Works fine before. Clean Install... donĀ“t help.
I must switch BT off and on and then connect to my car.
Oneplus 5 is my first Oneplus. And from beginn problems with BT. After some updates works fine. Now the same after Oreo.
Same here with parrot handsfree. Nougat was OK....
Same here with 2017 Audi A4. Bluetooth do not connect automatically.
Works fine with nougat before.
I use the app 'Bluetooth auto connect' to force OP5 to connect to Audi, when I turn on the screen. (little work around).
The OP3T from my wife (also with oreo) connect fine to my audi.
Gesendet von meinem ONEPLUS A5000 mit Tapatalk
I have switched off 'media audio' in Bluetooth Settings of OP5 and Bluetooth connect without any problem with my Audi. (tested it two times)
Will continue testing.....
Gesendet von meinem ONEPLUS A5000 mit Tapatalk
Switch of Car for <10 minutes and try and also only off for 10 seconds
I also thought this helps, next day not working....
For the last few days it has been working fine in my car (2016 BMW 340i), but in my wife's car (2015 BMW 328i) with the same media interface, it actually CRASHES the entire car's system and iDrive does a full reboot. Never seen that before with any device.
Anyone tried open beta 3 ?
My OP5 connects to the Anker SoundSync handsfree, calls and media are OK just as before, the only thing that have gone with the stable official Oreo update are the bluetooth control buttons.
Any idea would be appreciated

Copy the Bluetooth file from Nougat to the backup from Oreo
Restore Oreo Backup
Thats all.
Attached the Nougat Bluetooth

Android 8 and 9, problems with Chevy Mylink

Hi Folks
I have a strange problem with my Samsung note 4's. When I pair to my Chevy Mylink in my 2017 Silverado 1500, the pairing works, my phone shows it is paired as both Media and Phone device, but if I try to initiate a call from my truck, it says there are no phones connected. The media stream works and I can play music through the trucks system from the phone. But incoming calls go into limbo and I can not place calls from the truck hands free.
The behavior is identical with two different Galaxy Note 4 W8's. I have tried, Lineage OS 15.1, Lineage OS 16, RR 6.1.0, RR 7.0.1. It seems like any Lineage OS based, android 8 or 9 rom behaves this way. I have not experienced any other bluetooth issues with any of my many other bluetooth devices and these roms.
I flashed the Marshmellow based Note4UXEdge_V10 rom and it behaves correctly when logging into the Truck's MyLink system. I can make and receive calls as expected.
Has anyone seen this behavior or anything similar? Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
