Hi All,
I stumbled across this as I am currently not in the US to test this out. Could someone see if this actually works? It supposedly enables the LTE band 4 on this phone even though specs say that there's not LTE on it. I was hoping it would be there as it has the same hardware as the N9005.
According to the Service Mode on the N9002, you can enable VZW LTE Band 4. I believe T-Mobile also uses this band for their LTE. I enabled it for me, but I am currently in an area that I can't test it. I posted screenshots of the Service Mode, and a video capture going into the menu.
How to enter service mode:
1. At phone dialer, dial *#0011#.
2. At the service mode, hit the menu key, and select back. It looks like it did nothing, but go to the next step.
3. Hit the menu key again and select "Key Input" and type "Q". It looks like it did nothing, but go to the next step.
4. Hit the menu key again and select "Key Input" and type "0000" (zeros).
5. Wait until you see "Main Menu"
6. Select [3] LTE
7. Select [2] LTE RF
8. Select [1] VZW LTE B4 on/off
9. Select B4 Enable(). It should now have an asterik in the parenthesis.
10. Reboot phone.
Here's a screen capture on how to enable it.

If anyone can confirm this works, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks.

I tried this on the N9002; Dual Sim variant.
If you have a different version, this might be better for you as I didn't have a custom kernel for mine.

I just ran the process and my phone rebooted without problems (N9005). Now, I just have to get an LTE sim card for a network that runs on those bands (I'll try to do it on this weekend and confirm if it worked).

We have the same phone, sorry I didn't mention that. I'm running a custom rom, witch I guess is only an advantage... But you enabled lte band 4 and in Sweden my carrier has band 3. I checked the other "how to" but it seems a little bit complicated and I'm a little bit worried about messing things up.

It should be fine. I've done it a couple of times and it rebooted fine and connected to the area cell signals, just the area i'm currently in doesn't have any LTE.

Thanks

I tried here in mexico. Telcel ,Movistar, and Nextel both use band 4 for LTE. Did not connect, only H+, but also there is no menu option to switch to lte only wcdma and gsm.

I don't have a way to try it right now(my n9002 is at a repair shop atm), but would you mind trying this? the article says to modify the /data/property/ persist.radio.lteon file to "true" and “LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)” should show up as a selection of network preference. Can you let me know what your results are when you try it?
//smokeys.wordpress.com/2014/04/06/how-to-enable-lte4g-on-samsung-galaxy-note-3-sm-n9005/
Sorry for the long wait, wife had phone. The file was already set to true. No lte option in Network Mode menu.
Thanks for trying. I realized that my bootloader is locked so I can't flash a permissive kernel. I think that would've been able to do it I think... oh well
My SM-N9005 was crahed 4G/LTE when i test that... even if I disable, my 4G not working now
How I can deblock that ?

OT
I try this and I still have only 3G/H+ on n9002.
Probably Samsung does not include LTE Modem
Poslato sa pisaće mašine Note 3 dual sim
............ ¯\_(ツ )_/¯.............
I did all your steps. But in RRC (Service mode, main page) i'm still see "RRC: IDLE, Band5" and i don't connect to band4. I checked and that band is activated.
Why?
This thread is for those who feel brave enough to venture into this settings menu. No, that isnt a challenge, its a warning. Even if you follow these instructions down to the letter, I am not responsible for anything you do to your phone. THIS MENU CONTAINS STUFF THAT CAN HARD BRICK YOUR PHONE!!!!
That being said, heres the reason for this thread. Some of us have ventured into the sim unlocking of our devices for a myriad of reasons. Some of us are planning on using the device on a network that uses LTE bands that Sprint doesnt. That being the case, there are some LTE bands that are disabled by sprint but the phone is still physically capable of connecting to. In order to enable all LTE bands that the phone is physically capable of, you can do the following.
from the dialer, dial
*#0011#
hit the upper right menu button, select key input, and type a capital Q, then ok. then menu again, key input type in 4 zeros "0000" and hit ok. Menu again and hit the back selection, menu again and hit the back selection. It can take up to 30 seconds for it to give you the next menu and you may need to repeat that process, but once the menu is up, make the following selections.
UE SETTING & INFO
SETTING
PROTOCOL
NAS
NETWORK CONTROL
BAND SELECTION
LTE BAND PREFERENCE
LTE ALL
if the LTE band youre trying to use isnt in the list above "LTE ALL", then the phone isnt physically capable of that LTE band, and if you absolutely NEED that missing band, youre going to be best served by getting a different phone made for a carrier that uses said band as its not possible to add LTE bands that the phones physical radios arent capable of connecting to.
Has anyone figured out the hidden service menu with the dialer code? I'm coming from an LG G4 and like to pop in and see what band I'm on. Just curious if someone has figured this out on the Axon 7 yet.
Same. *#*#4636#*#*
Does that give you the band info? I don't have the phone yet. Should be here Wednesday. The G4 is 277634#*#. I get an error with the g4 in phone info with the one you suggested.
Do not see band info on there, sry.
Bummer. Thanks for checking.
To address the OP's question, use signal check pro or lte discovery to figure out what band it's using. The latter seems to give details when signal check doesn't.
================================================
I was going to start a new thread, but this is sort of in line with this.
First, some of the codes here work:
https://cdmatool.ladesk.com/702910-How-to-enable-Diag-mode-for-ZTE-smartphones
Without a sprint sim, not sure if this works, but
##786#
##3424#
The 3424 requires an msl code to make any changes. Normally on an unlocked device it's just 000000, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.
Anyone have any idea what zte uses for a default unlock code? One of the changes that can be made (at least for sprint) is controlling which lte bands the device uses. Band 41 (2500 mhz) is really weak around here. Would be nice to lock it out entirely. Need the msl/spc code though.
Also, how is diag mode (not debug, diag) enabled on this device?
Hello,
I am trying to check how i can have the phone force all bands and not just LTE only. My phone after i unlocked it works great on t-mobile, However, i have to always go back
and change the radio to TDSCDMA/GSM/WCDMA etc so i can get LTE and voice. It defaults to LTE only. Anyone know how to clear this or force on one band ?
Thanks

if you are rooted download http injector and select radios option from dropdown menu select auto/ all bands option
Verizon variant is not rootable.
On my old Samsung phone I could enter service menu and switch bands. I have tried to enter service menu on the Essential using *+#000000#, but I get "Connection problem or invalid MMI code". What am I missing?
Does anyone know how to switch bands on this phone, and make it stick? I'm tired of being assigned a crappy band with low signal at inappropriate times.

Yes, I have done that one. It is not the true service menu, but the test screen, where you can choose between CDMA, LTE, UMTS, etc. but that's not quite what I'm looking for. It won't stop the phone switching to a low performing frequency channel. I want to be able to switch to say band 4 or 5 or 66 and have the switch stick, disabling band 17 and 2. But thanks for the reply. The original *+#000000#, is close, but I'm missing something. Still looking.
