Hey,
I recently noticed that when I have the horizontal mode (eg watching movies on YT) I can not move the movie slider. The same is how I turn on the screen rotation, the buttons at the bottom do not work. The buttons operate from the middle of the screen. In the vertical mode, of course, those places where they do not work when in horizontal mode, they work. What could be the reason? I had one-handed operation - nothing changed after uninstalling. A strange situation ...

Ok everybody, grab your phone and TURN IT UPSIDE DOWN. notice how easy it is to use the joystick/thumb navigation button. in fact, this works nicely for any bar-style phone or device. the screen remains visible next to your palm and thumb. this is such an obvious idea once you think of it. I once wanted to patent this. but somebody already had a similar idea. please, if you use this idea, try to give me credit. call it the Bessler upside down phone or something. anyway, can someone make a program that will flip my screen upside down? wm5 only has two landscapes and a portrait. Thanks
wow...
here there's a program that flips the screen upside down when you click on it multiple times. only problem is the buttons don't switch direction.

And here's one that rotates 180 degrees in one go:

There's three readily identifyable problems with holding the device up side down, though.
1. I'm not sure how ergonomic it really is. I've attached pictures of me holding the device up side down, and upright. You'll notice that in the first up side down picture, my thumb is relaxed, but as a result obscures the screen. To make it not obscure the screen, I actually have to bend my thumb which, other than eventually inducing pain, leaves you with less control as you're navigating with the top of the side of your thumb. Maybe I'm holding it entirely wrong though
2. The buttons issue. 'nuff said. This probably a programmatical error, though - must me some manner of telling the operating system that you rotated the screen, and that the buttons should follow suit.
3. ClearType. ClearType assumes the ordering of your LCD is RGB. If you rotate the screen, the ordering is BGR - but ClearType still assumes RGB. The result is that your screen becomes very difficult to read when using ClearType. The solution here is to disable ClearType, but who would want to do that? %) Images of what this looks like are attached as well. Note that I actually had to cheat the images, because if you rotate the 'up side down' wrong order screenshot back to normal, the ordering becomes RGB again and it looks fine. You can try it for yourself to make sure my screenshot isn't bogus, though
Lifted up my locked phone when i got a text notification and the sceen went into landscape mode (I lifted it in that orientation). Half the screen was corrupted. i turned the phone into portrait orientation and the screen adjusted (no corruption) then I went back to landscape and the screen changed again, this time with not ocorruption. I unlocked it in landscape and the Today screen appeard in portrait. Sent myself a text to see if this was repetable and it's not. May have been a gliche in BSB Tweaks or something but it was an "interesting" moment.
Does anyone know of a too, (that actually works) that auto-switched the Today screen? I still miss not having a rotatable home screen.
Sorry my post may go against the rules of this forum by not talking about Windows Phone 7 Series or porting Android to HD2
Regards
As everyone know WP7 has a feature which rotate screen as phone is rotated. In my phone it always work, almost 90% of time it is in "vertical" mode, when I rotate phone it switches to "horizontal", but I have seen issues few times:
1. when phone lays steady on flat surface (like table), when I unlock phone it is sometime switched to "horizontal", even when it was in "vertical" when I had put it on table,
2. when I am talking to sb with this phone, and phone is hold vertical, when I want to end call, the "end call" button is vertical, but options below changed to horizontal.
Of course every time phone switches back to vertical mode after 3-5s but it looks strange and annoying.
Has anyone else this problem?
I have check sensor calibration in MFG menu and it looks ok, at every flat surface I got reading 0 at both axis with small random noise (below 1).
Elektryk I've got the same problem but I don't care about it
same problem here... really annoying :S

The screen is rotating sometimes with the phone flat on table or sometimes holding it in my hand in portrait mode
It doesn't happen all the time but sometimes it does

It's pretty normal for a phone to switch to landscape mode while on a table, tables are virtually never perfectly flat. So that's that. But if the device gets stuck in landscape mode while you're holding it out I portrait mode, and you need to switch auto-rotation off and on in order to fix it, that's a bug that a few people have noticed worth this device (including new). The only fix so far is to toggle the auto-rotation.
You need to calibrate it.

I am not sure yet. On other devices I knew how to, on this one I have only seen it on the maps. You have to tilt it doing the 8 shape until it says calibrated.

This happen because your phone was on landscape mode before you lay it flat on the table. And because launcher doesn't rotate to landscape, you thought that your phone is in portrait mode until you got into the settings.
Hello,
the E-Ink display is perfect for a navigation program, if I drive a motorbike, but there are many problems. Maybe it is already solved by other users.
If I start it as E-Ink-App, the display is only in Portrait mode, but my holder is horizontal.
If I start it with Yota Mirror, the display is going to Energy Saving after a short time. It is not possible, to switch it on again, while driving.
Does anybody know, how to use a navigation program in Landscape mode on the E-Ink display?

I have changed the holder for the yotaphone to vertical now.
