WARNING Dont use latest twrp-3.2.1-0-s2.img - LeEco Le 2 Guides, News, & Discussion

Alright I have a brand new LE 2 x526. Ran twrp-3.2.1-0-s2.img recovery and format data on user to remove that password thing.
reboot to bootloader and great no more password requirement. Next step is to do a twrp backup.
Just to make sure I rebooted to make sure everything is working. Guess what, it hangs on bootup on the logo.
I found out that twrp-3.2.1-0-s2.img has a bug (its writes the wrong partition size: see below)
Anyway. I used twrp-3.0.2-0-s2.imgto do the format data and everything works again.
Just want to write this just in case someone use this buggy twrp version.

Just figured this out with the help of another post on a separate thread.
It seems that the latest twrp for x526 (v 3.2.1.0) has a bug such that when you format the data partition - it writes a wrong partition size.
This causes the boot loop with the stock ROM (other custom ROMs seems to be happy living with the error).
An associated side effect of the wrong partition size is that you wont be able to encrypt your phone on the custom ROM (the encryption process simply causes the phone to reboot without doing anything).
To resolve this, downgrade twrp to v 3.0.2. Then format cache/system/data.
Then mount the phone to your PC (enable MTP) and copy the stock ROM of your choice.
You need to update the "updater-script" and comment out the version check - and then you can install the stock ROM using twrp.
This worked for me.
Hope it works for you as well.
PS: Once you install the stock ROM, the data partition gets encrypted and first boot takes a lot of time.
Be patient and also know that twrp will no longer be able to decrypt your data partition (I think either twrp is broken OR the stock ROM uses some other default password to encrypt the data partition and hence decryption fails. I have tried using my screen lock PIN and it doesn't work and "default_password" does not work either.
All the best.

Open the update.zip file on your PC and navigate to META-INF/com/google/android.
You will find a file by the name updater-script.
Use your favourite text editor to open this file and then find the following line:
get_device_compatible("le_s2_ww") == "OK" || abort("This package is for "le_s2_ww" devices; this is a "" + getprop("ro.product.device") + "".");
Insert a # at the beginning of the line to get the installer to ignore the version mismatch and you should be good to go.
It should now look like this:
#get_device_compatible("le_s2_ww") == "OK" || abort("This package is for "le_s2_ww" devices; this is a "" + getprop("ro.product.device") + "".");
Now save this file and update the zip file / create a zip file again and then proceed with the installation as usual.

CWM 5.5.0.4 for Gtab--NVFLASH only (BETA from team DRH)

THIS IS NOT CWM FLASHABLE. YOU MUST USE NVFLASH
Edit: It has come to my attention that the CWM is 5.5.0.2. This error has since been corrected. Sorry folks. I'm an idiot.
Hey, i hope this doesn't bother anyone but i compilied and easy zip for NVFLAshing the new CWM.
Thanks Fosser, Team DRH, and the BishopofTechnology (all of whoms work this is, i just put it in one place)
Included is the NVflashable info, the drivers for APX, and the new version of CWM.
Do this @ your own risk, i'm not responsible for any problems (i did test it three times, with each version of CWM, if that counts for anything)
Step 1) Get into APX mode (power + Vol-) [the screen will go black. that's what you want
Here's what the Bish says:
Step 2) Connect the GTab to the PC via the USB cable.
if your PC loads the USB driver and connects to the GTab, SKIP to the “Using NVFlash” section.
if the WINDOWS PC fails to load the driver, just click through Start/Control Panel/Device Manager and find “APX” listed in the devices with a yellow “!” (exclamation point) on the icon.
Select the APX item and find the “Update Driver” button and click it.
When it asks where to search, choose the “local computer” manual selection choice and tell it to Browse to the "Flash USB Drivers".
If you go back to Device Manager after the Windows install has completed, it will show the nVidia USB drivers near the top of the USB device list.
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Step 3) Run the "nvflash_gtablet.bat"
A CMD prompt will pop up, let it do it's thing (don't stop or unplug during). Give it about a minute or until the CMD prompt disappears. You will the get a message that says "Entering NvFlash recovery mode / Nv3p Server"
At this point is should be okay to restart your tab. I'm running Flashback and had no problems staring up.
If you want to check the new CWM, hold the power + Vol+ when restarting and it should put you into recovery.
CONGRATS! You have the new recovery in preparation for ICS.
Once again, none of this is my work--i just put it into a convenient place.
Thanks again to all the Devs and enthusiasts. You make the Gtab worth having!
Edit 1:
Here is the MD5 check: 3DD468C48A3515E6E5A1C1236FF5068E
Edit 2:
The update recovery is with the normal sized Recovery.
Edit 3: 1) It seems this version partitions the external sd card when you choose to partition sd card. 2) choose zip from internal sdcard seems to use the internal memory 3) "FORMAT SDCARD" will FORMAT MICROSD CARD! YOU WERE WARNED
Alright. Download tested and verified. this is deff 5.5.0.4!
sorry again folks
Anyone that is interested in installing this via CWM, I created a CWM flashable verison from fosser2's download. Here is a link to the "normal font" version http://dl.dropbox.com/u/36150173/CWMR5504_recovery.zip. If you want the "big font" version, all you have to do is open the zip, delete the recovery.img, rename the Team DRM/fosser2/plastikman supplied version to recovery.zip & then add it to the zip.
I have installed this on 2 of my gTabs (one gTab Comb v3.3, the other CCCv8) and did not had any issue installing it this way.
Just a few notes on this version; it does give you the ability to flash from both the internal sd & external sd but uses a different naming convention though..."sdcard" is the name used for the external microsd slot and "internal sd" is what we would normally call sdcard. This version also appears to have fixed the "reboot recovery" bootloop bug of cwm3.0.2.8 (or aleast bypassed it)...when I selected "reboot recovery" it did the same as "reboot system now" (as I was doing this I crossed my fingers hoping it wasn't going to bootloop me...yea..no bootloop).
CWMR is touch capable. You scroll/select in 3 different ways...you can either use the capacitive buttons (which have been remapped to...Search is "select", Home is "scroll up", Menu is "Scroll down" and Back is "back"), you can also use the on screen touch controls (back, up, down & return), or you can also swipe up and down to scroll up/down and swipe sideway to select.

PS:
WARNING: This is the beta6 release. The op page over in the Slatedroid gTablet Laboaratory says that selecting repartition will only repartition the EXTERNAL SD. Two users have reported magic value mismatch after repartioning with this version. plastikman, who created it says he is looking into it.
So u can install from the older cwm that's in flashback like any other zip?

why does it only boot into CWM mod now? it would boot normally when i was on CWM 3.x.x.x
Yes but beware of repartition bug

Yes you can. I installed on both mine from CWM 3.0.2.8.
Please note the warning I put on my previous post! It probably isn't a good ides to "repartition" with this version until plastikman finds the bug. If you need to repartition (which shouldn't be very oftern) you can always flash the old CWM (or stock recovery) via this version. The recoveries are so small that I keep a copy of each on the tablet just in case.

You don't need to unzip it but it does need to be a vailid zip.
Yes, the download is OK from dropbox. I just redownloaded it to my PC & tested the archive. No erors found.
I also put it on mediafire...try this link http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?qg3n084hfu783i2 & see if it's any different for you.

It shouldn't (and didn't for me). Are you sure you didn't select accidentally hit "reboot recovery" instead of "reboot system now" (since you were still in CWM3.0.2.8 untill you reboot)? If you did accidentally hit reboot recovery then it would have put you in a CWM bootloop.
There are 2 ways I've used to fixed a CWM bootloop (yes I've accidentally hit reboot recovery too)..one was is to use nvflash to format partition 7 (MSC) and the other way is to use CWM to flash stock recovery and then install CWM3.0.2.8 (for b/l1.2) via stock recovery. Formatting MSC is the fastest, but most people I suggest these fixes to choose to do the stock recovery route. If you want detailed instruction for either, let me know.

Great work and thanks for putting in one spot. I'll probably wait till a ICS ROM is released with but must say that this is a great first step till we get it. Cant wait for 10" of ICS....my cappy luvs ICS...

What does the recovery do when you don't have a microSD card in the slot. The /etc/recovery.fstab file is setup to fall back to using the internal SD card like CWM-4.0.1.5 is. Does it work on the internal SD card if no external one is present?

That procedure only works as a side effect. Simpler to wipe MSC directly. See post #3 of this thread.
Stash that zip file on you SD card, and if you accidentally select "Reboot recovery", just "flash" it to fix the always boots-to-recovery problem.
Just installed using CWM recovey and all is well. Just to test I took out my external sd card and when I went to update from sdcard it showed the content of the internal. So I am guessing that if one would decided to partition there internal sdcard they might need to pull there external out first. Then boot up recovery for there updates.

Just can't keep up with you raj...why did it take you 2 months to come up with the flashable msc format? Just kidding. I got the format msc from that very thread back in October. Everyone I've run into that is in a CWM loop I've given them the option of formating msc (via nvflash) or flashing stock recovery/then CWM. In every case they have always chosen to flash stock recovery & then flash 3028 (probably because most of the people I help are pretty new to the gTab). I think now they will choose the format via flash method. Thanks for the tip.
Just a question though. Exactly what is the CWM kernel writing to MSC to cause the loop? I assume it is the bootloader that checks for the rocker switch position & some mysterious bit on MSC to determine which kernel to load (but I'm just guessing). But if that is correct then why does flashing stock recovery, doing a normal boot & then flashing CWM fix the problem too (so I'm guessing I am wrong about my guess)? In any case can you explain why it works that way?

When ahead and changed back. When trying to downgrade to a 2.2 rom ended up with a mix match error on boot up. Looked good for what it is. Expecially liked the touch option on it, but it needs some work.

There are a couple of problems that I noticed with this version of CWM, and which might be responsible for your problems.
1. Roebeet's gtablet.cfg file which almost everybody uses to nvflash back to the 1.2 stock ROM has a bug in the system.img size calculation:
Code:
$ [B]fgrep size= roebeet.cfg[/B]
size=3145728
size=131072
size=2097152
size=131072
size=4194304
size=16777216
size=33554432
size=16777216
size=16777216
size=[B]259715200[/B]
size=0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
The second last line is the size of the "system" partition and it is misaligned. Every other partition is correctly rounded up to end at the gTablet's NAND flash erase size (128K). Compare with bekit's gtablet.cfg:
Code:
$ [B]fgrep size= bekit.cfg[/B]
size=3145728
size=131072
size=2097152
size=131072
size=4194304
size=16777216
size=33554432
size=16777216
size=16777216
size=[B]209715200[/B]
size=0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Here all the partitions--including the last which uses the remaining available space--are rounded up to a 128K boundary. Looks like roebeet just added 50M to bekit's system.img size without rounding it up. The correct value should've been (using roebeet's system.img size as NUM):
Code:
$ [B]( NUM=$((259715200)); echo $(( (NUM + ((1<<17)-1)) & ~((1<<17)-1) )) )
[/B]259784704
--which brings us to problem no. 2:
2. The CWM-5.5.0.4 Beta 6 has a "cmdline" file containing NAND flash partition sizes which overrides the user's partition sizes read from the Partition Table. This is fine if the sizes are the same, but, a bad idea otherwise. In this CWM, the cmdline file sets "system" to be what we calculated above (259784704) but, which disagrees with the size in the PT (259715200).
Use the zip file in the attachment to empty the cmdline file out. This will cause the partition sizes to be read from the PT on the NAND flash.
My recommendation is that:
1. Users nvflash to 1.2 using either
a) the attached gtablet.cfg which has all the partitions correctly ending at 128K boundaries or
b) bekit's original gtablet.cfg. (This option is what I recommend. The "cache" partition is used for OTA updates and if it is much smaller than the "system" partition--like in roebeet's gtablet.cfg, then, depending on the size of the image, automatic updates might fail.)
2. Install the new CWM-5.5.0.4 Beta 6, and then immediately flash the attached zip file to empty out the cmdline file.

I looked at this sometime back and its complicated. I'll make a post on this later this weekend after I've looked at VS's newly posted 1.2 kernel patch.

Thanks to rajeevp!!
Plastikman verified rajeevvp was correct and has issued an updated CWMR. Here it is in a flashable format http://dl.dropbox.com/u/36150173/CWMR5504_recovery.zip. He switched from using pershoot's kernel (which required the command line) to using the stock kernel. I tested the new version to install a rom, do a factory data reset, a wipe cache, a wipe dalvik & a fix permissions. All worked normally. Give it a try. I also corrected the links in my previous posts to point to the updated version.

Thank you. This worked well for me, since I was not inclined to do the nvflash thing. I was able to boot back into my Beasty+Clemsyn rom without incident. Tested by rebooting again and was able to boot into the rom with no issues.

... and in the process also brought back the always-reboots-into-recovery problem, right? Whereas with the pershoot kernel "Reboot Recovery" would just reboot the tablet into the ROM?
BTW, the pershoot kernel doesn't need a cmdline file: craigacgomez's CWM-4.0.1.5 too has a pershoot kernel and its cmdline file is empty. As I mentioned before: if the cmdline file is empty, then the bootloader will construct a cmd line for the kernel.
to install the cwm recovery do I simply transfer the zip to the internal sdcard and flash zip from sdcard as if it were a rom?

unable to install OTA2 WE

I'm not able to install the new OTA2. A factory reset didn't fix it. I read the CWM DEV thread and updated my "old" CWM to the newest version for my Tablet (ventana64_recovery.img) (WE)
Trying to install the new OTA2 update it stops and Trying to install the OTA via the CWM i got although an Error (like before):
Installing update...
assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "Indigo" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "Indigo"
E:Error in /sdcard/ThinkPatTablet_A310_02_0039_0086_WE.zip

Installation aborted.
I read in an other Forum that perhaps the CWM and Voodoo RootKeeper in combination could cause some Problem, but I have no idea to solve it.
Is there a way to uninstall the CWM, install the OTA and reinstall the CWM ?
Did someone managed to install the OTA2 with CWM installed
Thanks

i had the same problem. solved it by restoring the original Recovery.
- you have to have superuser rights
- you should have a backup of the stock recovery in /system named recovery-from-boot.p
- put the file from the zip to /system/etc and do the following via adb:
Code:
$ su
# dd if=/system/recovery-from-boot.p of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p1
- do a reboot and try to install the OTA2 update.
for me it worked like a charm. hope for you too.
That didn't work for me. Now I can't get into Recovery-Mode. Can someone post the stock recovery?
which tablet version do you have? i can only give you the 16 gb Wifi only version. didn't you check to have /system/recovery-from-boot.p file? maybe it is called different at your tablet?
edit: attached stock recovery for 16gb wifi only model.
Yeah I tried it. I copied your command. I have the 64GB 3G model. The file /system/recovery-from-boot.p is only 343918 bytes big. Is this alright?
I tried Quick Reboot App and the Volume-Toggle, which always worked for me. Couldn't get into recovery.
Could it be the install-recovery is the wrong one? (I really should make backups before doing stuff like install CWR )
EDIT: I checked the new OTA-zip. There is a new recovery-image and a new install-recovery.sh in there. I think I'll try these? Or do you think it's a bad idea?
the file in /system should be all right. When you fully copied my commands then you should know that the $ and the # are already in your window.
but if you have some new files take them and do the following (now you really can copy the commands )!
-put your 2 files to the destinated place and hit the following code into your command tool :
Code:
adb shell
su
dd if=/system/recovery-from-boot.p of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p1
Hi,
I have the same problem as Noneus. After done your step, now I cannot get in to recovery mode anymore. I tried both, copy your file even copy from now OTA.zip to the destination. Anyway to solve it?

Yep, this has been possible for quite some time. If you go into the install menu you'll see a button in the bottom-right that says "install images", click that, navigate to the vendor file, then you'll be prompted to choose which partition to install it to (obviously you want to select vendor). You might find my guide handy:

I think you only used the wrong "Install" button, like Heisenberg said.
If you dont use the "Install image" button you dont see the file (because vendor is .img file).
I have installed TWRP 3.1.0-0 and it is still showing select partitions screen and only available options are boot and recovery.

Reflash TWRP and see if you can install to Vendor partition. Also, post a screenshot of this. TWRP supports native screenshots (hold power and volume down).

and somewhere else I find...
As most of you will be interested in running backups and installs, below is a quick list of how that’s doable.
Backing up
“adb shell twrp backup SDBOM” does your standard backups. You can add a foldername at the end of the command if you want to place the backup in a non-standard location. The TWRP backup command switches are:
-S = System
-D = Data
-C = Cache
-R = Recovery
-1 = special partition 1
-2 = special partition 2
-3 = special partition 3
-B = Boot
-A = Android secure
-E = SD-Ext
-O = use compression
-M = do not create MD5
-foldername is optional and is just the final folder in the full TWRP path
Restoring
“adb shell twrp restore <foldername> <switches>” Foldername is the folder that contains the backup you want to restore, and the switches correspond with the ones in the above section. If you don’t supply a switch, it’s assumed that you’re wanting all data restored.
But this doesn't help me...
this has to be possible i just hav yet to find any doc or other article with the proper syntax

It is Fat32?

I don't have access to a Linux machine, but I could format it in my phone?
I'll try that. and will post any updates.
UPDATE:
Formatted it in Android, still same error
UPDATE 2:
Tried a different USB stick, same error.
The USB sticks I am using are:
amazon.com/SanDisk-Cruzer-Orbit-Drive-SDCZ58-032G-B35/dp/B00BPHTH4C
and
amazon.com/SanDisk-Ultra-Flair-Performance-SDCZ73-064G-G46/dp/B015CH1NAQ/
Remove /system/addon-d in twrp ?
Will my phone work properly after doing that?
UPDATE:
Renamed it to addon-dee in my prefered Filemanager (ES) and it's backing up now.
(thank god I decided to use a USB3 stick this time)
UPDATE 2:
Phone backed up and now is working fine! thanks.
I was having the same error until I updated TWRP to the unofficial 3.0.2-3
I have this problem and l have 17g free space in my internal storage but receive error 255 and i don't find addon in my storage plz help me for fixing this error

Should be under /system/ . Are you rooted? I don't know if you can see that part of system if you're not rooted.
My device is rooted but this file isn't there.

It's not always the same file. Look at your log to see which file/dir is problematic.
SOLVED createTarFork() process ended with ERROR=255
SOLUTION
This solution worked on my Zenfone 3, running lineage Android 7.1.2.
I tried many other things, like flashing different versions of TWRP, deleting the recovery directory, renaming files and all the like.
You may deselect compression, change the TWRP-date / time : nothing works !
You need an PC / Notebook with adb installed.
- start your phone in recovery-mode (TWRP)
- connect to PC and get the recovery.log with following adb command
adb pull /tmp/recovery.log
You will find a copy of the file recovery.log in the directory, from which you started the command
- open an editor or choose your favourite file viewer to open recover.log
- search for the last entry of the word "Error"
- in the line before that, the recovery.log states the name of the file that causes the problem
(in my case it was /system/addon.d)
- disconnect phone from PC.
- restart your phone in "normal" restart (do NOT boot to recovery mode)
- use a root file browser (I used ES-explorer with root enabled) and navigate to that directory/file
- delete the file (which I did not do - I tried some other steps)
- restart phone
This took 3-4 minutes, but I did not delete the file addon.d right away. Instead, I did this:
step 1
navigated to /system/addon.d and copied addon.d to SD-card
step 2
in /system/ , I renamed addon.d "addon_BU.d".
This was successful. In /system/ , the only file visible was now "addon_BU.d"
step 3
tried to create a directory named addon.d inside /system/ because my recovery.log said quote\ ... system/addon.d (not a directory) ... \unquote
FAILED. The directory could not be created by ES-explorer
step 4
copied my backup file addon.d from SD-card back into its original location /system/.
This, I though, would work just fine, because I had renamed the original addon.d to addon_BU.d.
So after restoring addon.d , the only thing left to do would be delte addon_BU.d.
ES-explorer reported no error, but - surprise - there was no file "addon.d" present in /system/
The only file still there was "addon_BU.d"
well, let's go to
step 5
rename addon_BU.d back to it's original name "addon.d" using ES-explorer
FAILED.
addon_BU.d could not be renamed - this file really was screwed up big time !!!
I ended up with no addon.d - so I could have deleted it right away istead of starting my trial with step 1 ...
step 6
Anyway. Shut dowm my phone.
Rebooted my phone normally (not to recovery mode !!!)
This took considerably longer than normal - my heart rate had began to increase slightly if not to say I began to feel like a squirrel on red bull...
After roughly 3 minutes, I had a successful reboot to my OS (lineage Android 7.1.2)
step 7
Reboot again, this time to recovery mode (=TWRP)
and: backups work again.
Don't ask me why this worked and if it will work for you, but hey, give it a triy and let me know...

Hi, thank you for a fix but this is an 10 month old thread. The issue was with TWRP 3.0.2-2. Along with an EFS issue that plagued TWRP 3.0.1-2, both issues have long since been resolved.
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
simple and working solution :
by @yannick818
"looks like it's an error with parallel apps oder multiple users. since i do not use something like that, i just removed this user with the android terminal emulator:
su
pm remove-user 999
everything was fine after that"
I could resolve my nandroid /data backup error on my EMUI 8.0 Mediapad M5 device with those following steps:
1 - Use a correct TWRP implementation
TWRP need to access the uncyphered partition /data.
There no possibility to backup it, if TWRP does not implement deciphering user data partition.
2 - Remove all users except user 0 (the administrator)
You can verify that there is no unwanted users, looking at directory /data/user : the only subdirectory should be "0".
To remove the others users :
Remove the PrivateSpace if you have one (Settings > Security & Privacy > PrivateSpace, and tap on the garbage can).
Remove all the secondary users (Settings > Users & accounts > users, and tap on each users to delete them). Keep just the main administrator user.
On EMUI, remove all twins applications (Settings > Apps & Notifications > App Twin, and disable all twin apps).
On OxygenOS, remove all parallel apps (Settings > Apps > Parallel Apps, and disable all parallel apps).
On MIUI, remove all dual apps (Settings > Dual Apps, and disable all dual apps)
On others devices ... you must find all parameters that create those unwanted users.
If you are not able to get the correct settings to suppress those users, in last resort you can try this command : "pm remove-user user-no. (For example "pm remove-user 999").
3 - Do not forget to protect your backups by a password
This would be stupid to cipher your /data partition and keep backups of this partition unprotected.
These steps fixed the nandroid backup problem for /data partition on my Huawei Mediapad M5 device.
I post on this forum because I hope that this will be helpful for others devices owners.

*UPDATED**UNLOCK TOOL (4-2019) for ALL Versions of BLU R1-HD

BLU R1-HD bootloader unlock script tool, and TWRP install tool.
Download is a zip file, unpack it to somewhere you will remember. Run the dirty-cow-tool.bat // mtk-su-tool.bat
The included files and folders are set to hidden, in effort to keep them safe from accidental delete.
Must have adb+fastboot + drivers installed and setup prior to using tool
Easiest method to install adb + fastboot on windows is with "15 second adb + fastboot install TOOL"
LINK==>ADB+FASTBOOT
It is for windows
In linux :
"sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb"
"sudo apt-get install android-tools-fastboot" Some fastboot commands were missing when i used this one ie "fastboot flashing get_unlock_ability"
"sudo apt-get install fastboot" worked better when I tried. ( i used that command as a check before doing the unlock, so it was needed only for that check)
Using Tool
On Windows?
Unzip the downloaded file to a new folder, open new
folder and click on "dirty-cow-tool.bat". // "mtk-su-tool.bat"
Do the steps in order (1-2-3-4) to be unlocked, then
Step (5) to get to second page where step (1) is root
The rest is optional
On Linux?
Unzip downloaded file to new folder folder .
Open folder. Then open R1-Linux-tool-v2 folder
Open terminal from that folder and type
" . R1-HD-TOOL.sh "
Same order of steps (1,2,3,4) step (5) for extra
Steps (1 on second menu) for superSU root.
Second menu steps (2,3,4,5,6,7,8) are optional.
**Linux Note**
The tool uses "fastboot flashing get_unlock_ability" as one of the methods to check before doing the unlock.
The version of fastboot that installed with "apt-get install android-tools-fastboot" did not recognize
this command. But "apt-get install fastboot" updated some version and then the command was recognized.
******OTHER NOTES****
--- this has been mentioned in the general thread and the modified v17 thread, but It has come up again so I wanted to make note of it.----
--- The newest blu versions (V7.4.2 and V17) Have made changes to "toolbox" and this effects things like "adaway" and "titanium backup"
--- The suggested fix is to install busy-box. I have had success with the version from play store, some prefer to use f-droid version. Either one will do. Install it and open the app. From in the app you need to do an install.
CHANGE LOG
V1:. Initial release : removed
V2:. : fixed typos preventing proper function
V3:.: switch file verification to md5 check instead of "ls-l" comparison.
V4: current version: add extras page, add SU flash, de-bloat script, Added Fm Radio, Added pre-loader roll back
V5: Fixed wrong loop "goto" line that made preloader rollback do "MTK_BLU Debloat v2" instead
V6: Added manual pause to script for mods that need recovery (Extra's 5) . Added redundent recovery flash command .
Few reports of recovery "not Sticking" and needed to run the flash commands manually one by one. Maybe the redundent
flash will make it survive. If still having problem with recovery "staying install" try manually flashing
here is link to the steps needed. FLASH RECOVERY
V7 Improved logs Added line to make batch run as sub-process so if error occurs , will not close
V7.1 : Updated the fm radio install zip and include the needed selinux mode changer app
V8: fixed dependency of needing to be unzipped to location w/o spaces in name. (when used from location with spaces, tool used to fail to push needed files).
.. added more time to allow dirtycow to "spawn" its root shell. Recent testing has shown sometimes it takes longer than the 60 seconds allowed in the script. Now it is looped 3 times.
V9 Added full path to abd push lines for recovery flash files. included fastboot.exe file to address some version issue where user s version would not output text file I coded into script for a verification ( included file is called by script, no need to do anything different with it)
V10: Moved zip file to included folder to help preserve locations when unpacked, added device check before running tool; So tool not used on wrong device, Rearranged order of operations on extra's page. (recovery installed options) Push files while in android before rebooting to recovery( should improve reliability for multiple reports of not automatically installing options for some)
******I have received some reports that some devices are reporting "ro.build.product =R1_HD and not "BLU_R1_HD" like mine, so the added device check is blocking tool from starting If this happens to you , you can make edit to the .bat file like below.
Change this line
Code:
:next_check
find "BLU_R1_HD" "%~dp0workingproduct.txt"
To this
Code:
:next_check
find "R1_HD" "%~dp0workingproduct.txt"
it is line #23
V11: Updated device model verification lines

Items planed to be addressed in next release:
--Add few more file integrity checks to the extra's page
--Add copy log to clipboard option so it is easier to post log entry if needed-------*********----already-_added to github copy of batch file
--Add a verification step that checks what recovery is installed( to prevent trying to do steps on extra's page with stock recovery)
--Possibly move to a "fastboot boot recovery" instead of "adb reboot recovery" for the same reason as above
--Add wget or similar to the extra's items so initial "TOOL" size is smaller (not that 40-50MB is big, but to some it may be )
--Add additional "selinux mode changer apk" for fm radio install rather than just the note that says it needs to be found.

Works great on OEM 6.6, thanks for the tool!
So I got the one-click-root.sh done, maybe. Can some linux users go over it, make sure I didn't do anything stupid? I don't exactly have a device to check it with atm, and I am not pro with scripting, barely novice, so it is a pretty basic conversion of the batch file. Still, it might work . Just would like a few eyes on first.
https://github.com/theredbaron1834/Scripts/blob/master/one-click-root.sh
Also, I looked at dirty-cow-tool.bat. However, wow, more an advanced batch file, and I am not sure what the first half does, so not sure how to convert . However, it seems if anyone does get it, the eqiv of goto for linux is funtions. simple cheatsheet:
Code:
function stuff {
echo "this stuff is run via the function"
{
stuff #goes to stuff and runs function

thank you for your input.
As far as the begining of the batch, It is adding a few folders to the "path" variable so help ensure the "adb push" commands find the files it is trying to push. Then it sets some folder "flags" to hidden so that the files the batch needs don't get accidentally moved or changed. Then the large section with mostly "echo" that is to set up the "simulated" G.U.I.
The lines of just "::::::::::" are simply used to help with reading the batch file. i use them to seperate functions. They are not needed.
The lines with only 2 "::" are standard windows comment / remark line entries
The lines with 1 ":" are the beginning line of the loop/ function == the line that "goto *" searches for

It is supposed to. It is the same base codes used from original script, and that one was confirmed to work. I Do not have first hand use of V7.4.2 so it is only confirmed through other users.
The dirty-cow being used has been patched by google in Dec but blu has not rolled out the patch. So there is no reason for it not to work.
edit:
I have the linux version ready.
-the first step, (ADB Push) is ready. including md5 file checks
-step 2 is ready= running dirty-cow with md5 check before final writing to mmcblk device
-step 3 is ready unlocking bootloader = including check if unlock is done, but need to fix the "unlock_adility" check
I can make to file to compare and grep the line needed, but cannot "sed" the extra information or do a > < comparison
-step 4 is ready .--flash twrp
Finished 90% of tool.
still need to tweek the log feature.
I ran tests on the lop back to menu and test ran
1. push files for dirty-cow and md5 check . then made push fail to verify the check method was valid ==pass
2. run dirty cow commands and md5 verification on resulting file. ==pass
3.unlock bootloader --- I ran it (needed to fake the already unlocked check) it works == pass
4 . flash twrp --installed both version i have, both install fine ===pass
5 extra menus -- ran . install su-----debloat---rebloat--- add fm radio--- preloader roll back =====all pass
(bootloader roll back needs manual intervention to re-enter fastboot during the boot loop that is unavoidable)
6. instruction ====not written yet
7. exit yes it closes == pass
8. logs --- needs completeing
I just loaded this on my OTA updated 7.4.2 device. I would note that the batch file does not actually create the /sdcard/Download folder so you might need to go into the terminal and actually create this on your sdcard... also worth noting that this batch file **requires** an sd card in the device to do any of the loads in the "5" menu.

no it does not.
the /sdcard is the internal memory and the Download folder is already there.
you might be having issues but the folder is already part of normal system

Fair enough, my restore didn't have /sdcard/Download and I made an assumption that /sdcard was my mounted card. Thanks for the insight.
OOPS
found typo on V4 of tool. batch files sets variables for "return", from loop functions. And two returns were set to same label9, so if you had tried to do extra's menu option #8. "ROLL Back Preloader" , instead it was running option # 5. " MTK_BLU Debloat v2"
fixed and still reading and re-reading to search for errors.
This looks bad.
The reason I put together this tool was I felt it was important to make a way to minimize the problems usually associated with android modifications. By making "typo's" a thing of the past, and I found them in my own script.
re-posted V5 combined with linux V2--

Ok. After you have completed upto twrp install. You can do the options on #5. It is all programed and automatic. What is does is put zip files onto the phone and reboots phone into recovery, then recovery installs them.

I get up to the recovery installation, but then I can not access such recovery on the phone, If I turn it on with power+vol up, it takes me to the default factory recovery by blu.
And If I try to the super su step with the phone on, it resets it, and get it to the screen with the dead android, while the script just shows the ADB DETECTED message.
In case it's needed, my R1 HD is running on

You missed a step in the process.
As tool finishes the recovery install it comes to a "pause" in the script, you need to hold the volume up button on phone "before" pressing button on pc keyboard to continue.
If phone does a normal reboot at this point then the system will replace the newly installed recovery with the stock one.
Giving you the situation you have now.
This step I cannot control, you must press volume button on phone to get the boot menu, and directly boot into recovery to ensure that the install sticks.

When tool says Hold button , keep it held. Then continue the script. Phone should reboot to the boot menu. Then let go of volume
Some phones do not accept the fastboot reboot command, on those phones need to hold power to shut off. Then volume and power together to come on, release power when screen come on
