So this is the situation:
I purchased a V20 on ebay, an H918 model. I am on virgin mobile in Canada, though. I would love to be able to use wifi calling, but would need the software component from a Canadiàn G6, (H873) or any of the models that Virgin accepts on wifi system. ( LG Q Stylo+, X Power 3, LG G6/G7 ThinQ, ).
Anybody care to suggest a possible solution?
Thanks in advance!
All you guuys are freaking awesome!
Kevin
You can try flashing the H915 system image, since it is the Canadian model V20. Do NOT flash anything else from the H915 or you won't be making any calls since your phone will be a brick.

does your lg g6 h873 have wifi calling through virgin mobile ?

Can I flash LG G6 t-mobile to AT&T without root? Got the phone for free.. That's why and I am on AT&T
no.
you would need root.. but if you flash any non-tmo bootloader/modem stuff onto the tmo version it will brick the phone.
tmobile g6 bootstack is different than all other G6 devices. and if you flash tmo boostack onto a non-tmo g6 it'll brick the phone.
all of the other non-tmobile G6 variants have a similar bootstack and could technically be shared as long as the anti-rollback fuse settings matched.
There goes my dream for visual voicemail for AT&T on t-mobile phone
Is the phone unlocked to work with an AT&T SIM? if so, just download the att VVM app in the play store. Did that on my unlocked dual SIM phone.
In G5 we can flash G5 puer rico H820pr on to G5 ATT H820. So G6 we can do the same?
I need Band 66 (LTE) with my Canadian provider (Freedom Mobile). Both the H918 (T-Mobile) and the H915 (Freedom Mobile) have Band 66. With my new unlocked LG V20 (T-Mobile) version running on my Canadian Freedom Mobile LTE version, all works well, with the exception of no LTE. I have done many searches and come up confused as to which way to do this. Can I use just LG UP and flash the H915 firmware over the H918 and expect all to be well with working LTE on my LG V20? Has LG Flash Tool been replaced with a newer LGUP? I'm just spinning in a forest of confusion here. Any direction would be appreciated. Thx
Wow..... 3 days have passed and no answers to my question. Have I stumped the experts?

It is never recommended to flash a firmware not meant to be for your phone. Chances are that you will brick your phone if you do. Probably that's why no one is answering because it has been said many times in different ways. And almost no one likes to be the guinea pig. Nevertheless, if you do try it with LG UP, let everybody know about your results :good:
The H918 doesn't support as many frequencies as the H910 / H915 (the H910 and H915 are the exact same phone). That could be a limitation of the radio firmware, and if it doesn't soft brick your phone, could be fixed by flashing the H915 KDZ.
Now the good news there is a KDZ for the H918, so, if you soft brick your phone -- viola -- flash the H918 KDZ and you are back to where you are.
Just a heads up though, download mode is *ALMOST* impossible to blow up, but almost is not the same as impossible. I personally have never managed to destroy download mode on an LG phone (and I have deliberately tried on several older phones - G2, G3, G4, just to see if I could recover if it happened).
However, that isn't to say that it is completely impossible (the dreaded 9008 error). Example for LG G3: https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/general/guide-fix-hard-brick-recovery-guide-t3132359
But, as you can see, even that can be fixed as long as you: 1 - have a KDZ, 2 - are willing to tear apart your phone.
Please post your results if you decide to go through with it

The only LG Phone that I own and remember was The E980 Optimus G Pro “the unbrickable” and thanks to att to ruin a outstanding phone simply not get the promo and the attention of the same sh** of Samsung S4 for this time.
After 2 months passing from my original post, I'm still at the end of a dark tunnel...... and no BAND 66 working on my T-Mobile H918 running on the Canadian carrier........... Freedom Mobile . Has anybody had any success running a TM (H918) on Freedom Mobile and get LTE (Band 66)?
You can't since the kdz for freedom mobile is not out yet

I have been looking at the FCC documents, and I seems H918 is the same hardware as the H910PR.
You can also see there that H910 and H915 are the same, as mentioned above.
I would not try to cross-flash firmware from different phones at least, if I where to do it at all.
Edit: The H918 has a unique oem configured key in the qfprom. Meaning flashing any bootloader not specific to the H918 will hard-brick your phone, at this point that is equivalent to a completely broken and useless phone.
if we can get the KDZ file maybe can get the modem
Any luck on this in the past month, or same situation still?
Freedom have had band 66 allowed to be used only on handsets sold by them, probably by white listing IMEIs. Now that they have iPhone, this might change, but my knowledge is limited.
I want to install custom Rom on LG V20. Which carrier should I get it from, T-Mobile, Att, Sprint, Verizon? Thanks.
You should get the US996 unlocked version. It will work on all the carriers plus you can unlock the bootloader on LG's website. All the others you will need to use Dirty Santa to unlock unless they have newer firmware which cannot unlock yet. You can get the US996 fairly cheap. Just make sure it is the US996 unlocked not the US996 US Cellular version.
Is there a way to tell if a phone is the US Cellular version or the actual unlocked version?
Already got burned once buying a US996 from ebay that was labelled as factory unlocked but it was actually a US Cellular.
I'm hoping there/s something on the sticker under the battery that will have the answers but nothing obvious from what I can see.
Does the US996 model support all TMobile bands including band 12 and VoLTE, wifi calling? Thanks.

Hello fellas, I have the LG V20 AT&T phone and I want to be able to use the sim of any network carrier of my choosing and I’ve been told that it's next to impossible to unlock AT&T phones unless you have the stock locked Rom and if I will flash unlocked Rom the phone will be sim free. Would that be correct If that is correct, my question is: Does anyone have unlocked Rom from this phone? At this moment when I insert different carrier sim the phone ask for 8 digit sim network unlock put code. any guide for it or someone with the knowledge to do it or someone pointing towards the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

From my understanding, and at least on Tmobile, you have to ask the carrier for the sim unlock code. Your phone has to be paid off if you bought the phone through the carrier. This is independent of the rom used. Check this out: https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/#/

Since you are being prompted for a actual unlock code.you do infact have at&t and NOT t mobile device with their garbage unlock app and process.simply look for a unlock code for a "lg v20 h910" or "lg v20 at&t unlock "on ebay.all the other cell unlock sites are a rip off. Codes are pretty cheap like 2 bux or so.now if you had a t mobile device you would have had to jump through a lot of hoops to get it unlocked.luckily you dont.

To unlock an LG V20 (lgv20) on AT&T (att) without another network sim:
Dial *#06# on your device to find your IMEI
Get your unlock pin from att.com/deviceunlock
Dial or paste: 2945#*910#
A menu will popup. Choose network lock. Enter the unlock code AT&T gave you.
The phone will restart and be unlocked.
So I got to the unlock screen by entering:
2945#*910#
The 910 is the model number. My phone's Settings > System > About > Hardware Info lists my phone as an LG-H910
So if you're on another network, chances are you could use your model number to get through.
Guys please share what's your experience so far if you have on At&t US, what works or doesn't work, etc,
1. Tmo h872
2. Canadian h873
3. I have seen people talking about flashing h871 to or with h873 fw. Why, what is the pro's/con's?
