Hi
Can any one tell me which device is faster
HTC Desire Z or HTC Desire HD
and if want one of them which one you will take
Desire HD has 1 ghz and Desire Z/Vision have 800 mhz soooo figure it out on ur own
Sent from my HTC Espresso, that is apperantly a failing device using the XDA App
the desire hd is the fastest android phone now. the desire z might be faster than the current nexus and desire due to the newer design even though clock speed is slower.
the z is an underclocked hd
that should be all the info u need
Well actually Desire HD is running with a MSM8255, and Z with a MSM7230. Both 45nm, so power usage should be considerably down from last gen, but I haven't seen any real benchmarks to compare the chips yet. We can probably assume HD will be faster in every regard; that's what it's supposed to be. (I'm still getting a Z! )
i wouldnt count on it being faster in every regard, different resolution remember, higher=more stress on graphics. they prob about the same if anything
My opinion : Desire Z is faster .. and do you know why?
So..

So Desire Z have:
CPU on 800MHz .. but not problem go to 1GHz = Same as Desire HD
GPU 2 x better then Desire HD GPU = +1 to Desire Z
45nm technology - Desire HD have 65nm technology = +1 to Desire Z
So in SoC category is Desire Z better then Desire HD.

You are wrong, MiTMaNeK; both MSM8255 and MSM7230 are 2nd gen chipsets. I can't post a link but look it up on qualcomm's site.
They're the same except for clock speed.

Great summary, one m ore question:
Normal Desire has Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 1 GHz processor and Desire HD QSD8255 cpu, which means it is newer?
So maybe Desire HD has 45nm die shrink and better GPU like Desire Z?
Mine question is, does Desire Z has faster GPU than normal Desire(I am planing to move to Desire Z, I simply love it's keyboard) and does it uses less power than normal Desire(45nm vs 65nm ?)
Having looked at the various spec sheets out there (including the list of devices using the MSM8255 and the MSM7230) it looks like the HD and Z both have a 2nd gen 45nm based CPU both with the same adreno 205 GPU. Its essentially a tie between the two I would summise since one device's pros outweigh the other's cons and vice versa.
Personnaly Im not bothered about having an 8MP camera since I would prefer a hardware qwerty keyboard, the two devices are both good however I prefer the Z.
The only difference, according to qualcomms website, is the additional 3D acceleration bits in the Z (highlighted in bold), which is encouraging

Ok, and normal Desire has 65nm CPU and old GPU?
And about the camera, I don't need 8MP at all, pics are only bigger with more MP(and has more noise) I would prefer 5MP cam with less noise.

I posted a reply on this yesterday evening, but I guess it went lost in the downtime. I made a nice quote with information, but now I'm too lazy to do it again.
You are making the mistake of thinking the DHD has a first generation snapdragon (the QSD8255, wich doesn't excist, actually it's the QSD8250). This is not true, it has the second generation Scorpion (MSM8255) as well as the Desire Z has. Only difference is speed it's running on.
So basically, the Desire HD is (on paper) faster then the Desire Z. The question ofcourse is how the extra 200 MHz wil turn out in extra performance.
Found Quadrant scores on Desire HD and Desire Z on smartphonebenchmarks.com
Desire HD Quadrant score 1974
Desire Z(HTC G2/Desire Z) Quadrant score 1499

and what does this number say?
I see the oc'd Desire gets around 1880 and a custom rom galaxy S gets 2250
but does that mean it's fast?
I think I read about 8255 that it has more L2 cache than 7xxx series ... but any ways both are A8 Gen so I just wait for A9 tegra

That wikipedia link is not correct: it puts the Desire HD & Z in the 1st gen row.
This is the correct link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snapdragon_(processor) (dunno why it does that )
It does show that they both use the Adreno 205 GPU, which makes them nearly as fast (but not faster) as the Galaxy S GPU (Adreno 205 => expected 3x the speed of Adreno 200/N1/Desire).
Guys,
Actually i agree with mrvanx. A game running 3D needs acceleration engines for OpenGL. Here the Desire HD is not high performance GPU, but desire Z is
"High-performance GPU - up to 41M triangles/sec and 245M 3D pixels/sec and dedicated 3D/2D acceleration engines for Open GLES 2.0 and Open VG 1.1 acceleration"
Its pretty upset tho, prefer a touch screen 4.3" to play ps1 + android! sigh..
The Desire HD should be the quicker device, but the Desire Z is the sexier device, and is definatly the one im spending my hard earned on.
DHD will be faster than the "Z" because of 200mhz more + 256mb more for multitasking, The "Z" will be more off a battery efficient device, with a little bigger battery, smaller screen + slower processor. i'm waiting for the reviews on both devices to make a decision, can't make up my mind!!

I think the thing that really decides for people, is the screen and the keyboard... If you want a bigger screen, then you go for the desire hd. If you want the keyboard, then the desire z... If you want both, then tough luck... hehe. But, I personally am going for the z, because I need the keyboard... And, after being used to the touch pro 2, I think that I will be pleased with the z anyway hehe

Anyway, these devices look triffic - check the battery on the Nexus 6 - Outstanding!

I also wanted the nexus 6 but my money does not allow me to ? so for me nexus 9!
Finally
I waited so long for this been rocking this galxy s3 all year waiting for the nexus 6.. I cant wait to have it in my hands...
Nexus 6 is pretty much heavy at 180g when Nexus 5 is 130g. Motorola Phones are usually heavy. For instance, Moto E is around 150g when it is a 4.3" device. I like the build quality of motorola phones though since the motorola L6.

AMOLED. That's a shame. So will burn eventually if I use it in a car for GPS (static screen elements, high brightness, high temperatures)
Specs directly from MOTO's site.
Qi wireless charging enabled! I wasn't excited about a 6 inch phone, but they've got some if the things I've been looking for, battery life (potentially) & Qi wireless charging. Plus the phone can be purchased directly from MOTO.

Nope, it's 32-bit since it uses Snapdragon 805. I would not worry about it though, it is a beastly SoC
It says the phone is water resistant
what is the difference between buying from play store and moto webiste?
Surprisingly no. The 805 is 32 bit. However, there's no apps that will take advantage of 64 bit in the mobile world. I expect that to change, but not for a while.
This is gonna be the best smartphone of the year
