Question of restoring OREO to NOUGAT - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Hello, I have a question, for restoring backup through TWRP. I have made a backup of NOUGAT on TWRP just before updating my phone to OREO. I'm now on latest Galaxy s8 firmware CRI5 running ALEXIS 5.7 ROM. I'm interested to restore my NOUGAT backup just to test it out again. Will it work to restore my old backup which would also downgrade the android version, or is it not possible after almost half a year has passed ?. Thanks for your time in advance.

Thanks, maybe you as well know, that if I will make backup on this TWRP (new version), I could restore this backup beeing on older version (NOUGAT) so I could get back to OREO any time?

Well, I tried going back, and everything restoring gone fine without any errors, only problem was that my phone gone in a bootloop, it just kept showing my old NOUGAT ROM booting animation for ever, so I had to go back to OREO. I don't know what exactly went wrong, maybe if I would have flashed any NOUGAT rom after restore it would have worked, however i didn't try doing that. Sad day.

What version of H2OS did you use before upgrading to CM14? Sounds like you were running a version of H2OS that was using the old bootloader, in that case you will have to downgrade the bootloader, after which you cannot go back to CM14 instead.

Stock Eui?

Is their anyway to revert back to stock eui rom? Either 18s or 19s?
I just want to go back to straight out of the rom for the Le pro 3 Us variant x727 currently on Cm.13
I had a backup on twrp but it went missing is no longer available.
Does anyone have stock rom download or a twrp backup they would share with me?
Currently have root amd twrp and know my way around things so no need for stepa by steps help. Just need a way to revert back.

Download stock recovery, then reboot to recovery, then use the Update system.
I have the stock recovery file that you can flash, if you wont find it.

Is this Chinese version or for USA 727 version? Le Eco has not released the USA 727 full software.

Really. THat's interesting
Yes it is. But I just didnt want to go through the hassle of re root and unrooting eui. I rather just dual boot between eui and cm13

Just use Rootswitch, much easier and you can toggle on the fly.

How did that go? If you got it working, do you mind if I ask how so I can do it as well?
Well first of all ot worked flawlessly. I have a stock eui backup 20's and a custom slim rom. Long story short.
Boot into twrp
Select your stock backup
Flash everything, Data, System, Boot
Clear dalvik/cache
Reboot system
Takes about a good 10 minutes to fully boot up
If you look in other threads their is a couple backups of the stock 20's that you can use.

[twrp_backup] [B360] [KIW-L22 ONLY] STOCK RECOVERY BACKUP

are you on twrp??? wanna go back to emui for some reason??cant waste data or time to restore the entire lollipop firmware then again update??
then, this is the right place, i , for most of the time , will use emui for the latest volte update, with twrp and root, but if i have to test something, then its a big head ache to me to do
restore entire system of lollipop backup, then again updating to mm for custom roms..
seems like bit of a double work???
then recently , i just pulled my b360 recvery only by manually booting twrp
and im sharing it with you..
DOWNLOAD
B360_STOCK_RECOVERY
INSTRUCTIONS:
download the zip
do EXTRAT FILES HERE (IMPORTANT)
and coppy extracted recovery folder into twrp/backups/
boot into twrp
select restore menu
restore recovery
reboot recovery
noow, you should see stock recovery
ps: i have tested it while i was on b360, and it should work well with any custom rom
hit thanks if this helped you

Please understand what I said, it is a stock recovery, not any Rom,, it's a recovery just like twrp but you cannot do backup and restore anything..
No, you cannot restore any backups after performing the steps provided by me..
Please read the entire op, I mentioned to use this if you want to revert back to stock,
And this cannot be used with any other custom roms

power off
then hold vol+ , vol- , power button at the same time untill you see a honor logo

Guys im kinda newbie. But before installing the custom roms i took a backup of all the partitions (mm rom), so my question is can i just use twrp to restore those instead of flashing mm ( still in cm 14.1 )

Yes you can restore the backup you have made using TWRP and you will see the same setup and data of MM as you left it.
Flashing will make your device just as new like out of the box.

Yes by doing so you are downgrading the OS.
You didn't flashed the soak test, right? As you stated that you made a backup of MM so I think you flashed the CM14.1 from the MM. So if you didn't flashed the soak test then you're good to go without any issue.

I am also new to this device so not much sure but for a safe side you should downgrade by flashing stock firmware via adb. And as far as I read and watched the videos on youtube there is not any issue to downgrade to MM if you have unlocked bootloader.
As being an XDA user we always know the risks. Good luck.

I have always used latest available firmware on my S8.
Maybe you need doing a factory reset /wipe data. Backup everything important before.
Good luck!
