Has anyone else had this problem? Doesn't matter what app I'm using, whether it's video streaming or games, the volume will drop to really low levels and return to normal every now and then.
If I'm reading or using any app without sound i can hear a notification every 30 seconds. It sounds like a clap. That's when the sound cuts out.

Does anybody else notice a high pitch noise during the browser changing pages, like the noise you get from an old crt tv...or is it just my spidey hearing...
Have notice that sound to.
It comes from time to time, not always in the browser. Can be on homescreen/appdrawer

I hear it as well
its really high frequency not many can hear it.....
I've heard it as well. It might be related to the display and the color transitions on each pixel. Either way I dont see it getting fixed so I would practice the art of "tuning it out"....also wildly successful with loud children and parents..
This is WIDE-spread audio defect in the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10 units. Might be a hardware defect unfortunately. I personally believe ALL units are defective since I have yet too see one without this defect.
Search "Samsung Galaxy Tab 10 Tablet widespread audio defect" on youtube and you will see a video of this defect.
I already exchanged it once and the replacement is the same.
This is an audio playback issue. For example, when you touch an icon or launch an app the tablet plays the Audible Selection sound ("tap/click" sound). After the sound plays the unit emits a high frequency whine from the speakers for a few seconds until the hardware amplifier is powered off by the system. Lowering the volume all the way on the tablet does not stop the noise. The strange thing is when using headphones the high pitch noise stops.
Its EXTREMELY annoying when you're in a quiet room since it happens every time you make a selection on the tablet.
I spend an hour trying to figure out if there was a way around it and almost decided to return my unit and ditch this model completely until I found that disabling Audible Selection in the Sound settings disables the "tap/click" selection sound when you touch the screen. This removes most of the situations where you get this noise from the speakers although it still DOES occur often when playing music or videos. Remember though with Audible Selection disabled you get no tap/click sounds when you use the keyboard or when selecting apps or buttons.
Edit: Im now convinced that this noise occurs when the audio amp is powered on but has no audio to play. For example the Audible Selection "tap/click" sound plays, once played the audio amp is still powered on for a few seconds and with no audio to process it emits this high pitched noise for some reason. You can notice this occasionally when playing other audio and videos w/ audio. For example, I launch a video which has delayed audio, the high pitched noise occurs until the audio starts to play.
Someone needs to fix this as its unacceptable IMO.
that's a teribble sound and lasts 2-3 seconds every click?

Yup, every single click lol. Its ridiculous and it drove me crazy.
I cant imagine how samsung engineers designed it like this and thought to themselves "Yes, this is good...." Its ridiculous and blows my mind how they can find something like this acceptable.
So I have a bit of a problem with Spotify:
When I use any equalizer app (like DSP or even the stock sound effect app) the sound goes weird whenever I fast forward or even play any track.
I have no idea how to describe the noise it makes, but I guess it's a bit like this; it goes absolutely insanely loud for about 0.5-1 sec. (to the point where you think you might go deaf) and then back to normal. You might think that's a very short time but imagine hearing that every couple of minutes in the morning. Agony!
It's fine when I turn the equalizer off but since I mostly listen to music on the bus, I can't hear the music very well without increasing the volume to the point where it just sounds awful.
Can anyone with Spotify Premium tell me if they have the same issues?
Thanks.

I'm using Spotify + the stock sound effects app and does not experience any of your problems, even if I try maxing the volume. Have you tried with a different pair of headphones?
Yep, this happens even after changing headphones.
It seems like a Spotify issue, since everything works fine with Play Music, Poweramp etc.

Well the Spotify-app isn't exactly perfect, so it is likely to be that.
- Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling?
- What are you listening to? I can try listening to the same thing and see if that has got anything to do with it.
Yeah, uninstalled but still nothing.
I listen to house, dubstep, hiphop, hardstyle.

I just tried skipping forward in a song and just noticed the same issue, wow. I guess I just didn't notice it before when trying.
But it only happens when I'm using an equalizer, and the same thing happens for me, the volumes seems to go up to max for about 0.5 seconds and then goes down to your set preference.

i have some like that in my HH, after i change rom to KK 4.4.2. it annoying noise.
but i still dont have an answer for that case right now
Whenever I play music or a video from Vine or IG. The sounds is ridiculously low on vibrate but if I change the profile to Sound it becomes louder. The same goes for when it's on silent but not much,
I have the volume to max on every sound profile but idk what's wrong.
Anyone else having this issue?

bump.still having this issue with sound volume..anyone else having this issue
Hello all,
Very happy with the Note 3 so far, which is no mean feat since I came from an S4.
I have however found an issue which could end up being very annoying. I use my phone for listening to music through a headphone amp and a set of UE Triple-Fi, so I'm sensitive to potential issues. I've found that when the phone is idle (no music playing, no other apps using the sound subsystem) there is a constant and very clear hiss. If I press the volume rocker down for example, it "thumps" and goes quiet for a few seconds, then the hiss returns. Similarly, if I start playing some music (Spotify or Google Music for example) again it thumps and goes as quiet as as I can hear.
Just to make it absolutely clear:
1) there's no hiss when a sound is playing, just when the phone is not outputting anything sound-wise.
2) when going from no sound to an app starting to play a sound, there's a clear, audible click/thump.
So from all the above it doesn't sound (ahem...) like a DAC SNR issue for example, just potentially a software bug. Has anyone else noticed this, are there any fixes?
Thanks!

Yepp, same problem here...and I hate it. I haven´t found a solution yet. The N2 I had before didn´t suffer of this backgroundnoise.
Thanks for replying, at least I know it's not me going crazy! Can anyone else reproduce this, or is it just us? If it's not everyone then we've got faulty devices, at least that has a solution. Thanks!

My laptop does this.
Set the brightness to full. (and turn off auto brightness.)
Also try disabling any battery-savers.
Nope, this doesn't cause it. The problem is there all the time, no matter what battery options I use.

And changing the brightness to full also has no effect? (That was the main cause on several devices.)
If not, I suspect something else is running in the background. Since it briefly stops when you press the volume keys, it is unlikely to be caused by dust in the headset port. So it has to be an app causing this.
It's still there after the latest updates. I think I might actually take a trip to a Samsung store or just an EE store and see if another Note 3 has the same problem, at least then I know if it's a general issue or if mine's faulty. To be honest, I'm starting to get a bit annoyed with it now just because of this.

Anybody else have a problem where you are listening to an MP3 (in my case through BT in car) and you do ANYTHING on the phone and the volume drops a couple of notches?
I use Car Home Ultra and there is even a setting to bump media volume to max when you run it, which it does.
Then, when I change albums or take a call or anything, it drops two steps.
Very strange and annoying as hell.
Wow, 60 views and no one has anything to say?

I don't really know why that happens? I think its a precaution to where its not on full volume when you do those things so it doesn't blow the speakers.
