Can someone tell me the default SM-G950A (Preferred Network Type) I have AT&T.
Settings like:
GSM auto (PRL)
LTE/UTMS auto (PRL)
TD-SCDMA/GSM
etc....
Thanks!

I live in the United Kingdom and often would like to use my Xperia in GSM mode to conserve battery life. But which is the correct mode to choose?
When i go into the phones settings/band it offers me
GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(2100+900) but also offers me
GSM(1900+850+UMTS(1900+850)
Which is the correct one for me in the Uk ?
i think that you would use the first one you listed since umts850 is an american 3g band used by at&t
If you just want 2g, set "Select your network type" to "GSM".
There is no need to change "Select your GSM/UMTS band" from "Auto", but if you insist it's "GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(2100+900)"
thanks for that info...much appreciated.
this is for the T-Mobile USA people.
Please help me understand what my settings should be? i was WCDMA Preferred and dont know exactly what GSM auto (prl) and all those other once do. I live in Texas and plan to travel so i want to make sure i get the best network while on the road. In my home i get HSPDA and 3G icons. Does anyone have a list of what everything is and does for what carrier?
what is the difference between GSM auto (prl) and GSM/CDMA auto (prl)?
i would like to add a note that i am worried about when traveling and leaving t-mobile 3g what will happen? will i just lose network if switching to gsm auto prl? this is why i am asking of incase i am totally out of t-mobile, will running gsm/wcdma auto prl allow me to use other networks?
i honestly would not mind if i had to switch between options when on the road and when in the city if i must.
Its set to gsm/cdma auto prl? Also it will not set wcdma only... Anyone confirm? I could swear my old n1 was set to wcdma preffered, which this wont set to either... Wierd, anyone else?
You have to go to *#*#197328640#*#* to lock the phone on WCDMA 1700 IV. It's under Debug and Network Lock

Your not using it for T-mobile ?
I locked mine to gsm auto PRL
and yes the n1 was wcdma preferred and my battery suffered from it.
Quick question on this, I have really bad gsm service at where I live. Can I change the prl settings to cdma only to get better reception? is there any data or voice roaming by doing this?

I tried messing around with the options in the *#*#4636#*#* keypad menu to help improve battery life, I read that changing options under "phone info" in the "set preferred network type" can help that regard, but I wanna change it back to the default. Anyone know what it is? Here is what I can choose:
- WCDMA preferred
- GSM only
- WCDMA only
- GSM auto (PRL)
- CDMA auto (PRL)
- CDMA only
- EvDo only
- GSM/CDMA auto (PRL)
- Unknown
I think it's the one that's bolded but I could be wrong. If anyone that hasn't manipulated these settings could enter the command in their keypad and tell me what they have, or their opinions about these settings I'd really appreciate it.
Default is WCDMA preferred.
so does anyone know which options to use?
ie for different countries and different regions..
on my HD2 it is "WCDMA preferred"
gsm auto (PRL)
If you choose gsm auto (prl) it will still use all networks but have less data drops and use less battery.
Anyone can teach me how to select 3G or 2G network in wildfire?
The system asked me to choose 2G/3G during my upgrade to Froyo but now i can't find where to select it.
Settings/wireless & networks/mobile networks/network mode
Can also use the power control widget to switch between them.
I only found WCDMA & GSM. I didn't found 3G or 2G setting?
GSM = 2G
WCDMA = 3G
GSM/WCDMA auto (automatic changes) recommended
ok thanks...a lot
