I do believe the original poster was asking about rounded corners throughout the UI, not icon shapes. Though I may have missed what was in his deleted post. Besides apps like Roundify, some substratum themes do okay with rounding corners also. I suppose he could try those, too.

No, I don't think it does. Not enough to matter anyway. Of course ultra bling type themes might not help much. I'd rather have a little drain than blinding white apps.

Well, apps for a start, and keyboards. Have you used Layers? I don't think Layers can change the boot animation, but I could be wrong about that. In terms of ease of use, CM probably comes out on top, it's a lot more user-friendly. Where Layers really excels is the amount of choice you have; there can be multiple options for each element. Anyway, we're kinda hijacking this thread now, but can you explain to me exactly what it is that the cm theme engine can theme that Layers can't?

Yes used both plenty. Cm can theme the same apps in the same way layers does, but sure what you're referring to there? I will give you that you can piece apart themes easier in layers (at the expense of a user friendly experience). Cmte can change styles where layers cannot touch them. This allows for the larger element changes that you'll find in some cm themes and why many layers just seem to change colors. They both have their advantages but cm absolutely can touch more elements than layers.

Yes it can theme apps and keyboards and has always been able to do so. Styles is a folder inside an apk that controls various visual elements. Cmte can alter this, layers cannot.

Ah yeah that's true. It is very well implemented, I'll give it that much. The one thing stopping me from using it is the fact that you need to be on a CM (or CM based) ROM to use it. I just don't see the sense in that on this device when you can get all of the same features in ROMs based on the official firmware (read: stable), but without all of the bugs that come with CM. One thing I really miss from CM though is the System Profiles feature, that's awesome.
I had a Moto X Pure and was running a rooted version of the stock ROM..... I installed Layer's manager and the layer of my choice (Dark Stock) and it worked.
I tried this with my Axon 7, the Layers manager installed fine and ran, but I couldn't find any of my installed themes to apply? Is there a setting that needs changed in a ROM in order to be able to change the theme, or are we just not there yet?

First of all, Layers has been deprecated and Substratum has taken it's place. Although it does have legacy support for Layers still. And secondarily, (maybe a silly question, but I'm just going on the way you've worded your question) did you download the theme(s) you want to try from the play store? And then there's also a good chance, even though android now has (some) native support for RRO themeing, that some things like the ui and dialer etc will not themes as the commits are not there from ZTE.

I seen there was a new name with "Layer's" being secondary in some of the descriptions? A lot can change in a month, because I was using "Layer's" just last month on my Moto X Pure and had no idea it was going away.
Yes, I did download the theme I wanted from the PlayStore (Dark Stock).
I may try it again since I've done a few more things to it....And I realize that not everything is "theme-able", mainly looking for just a few things, like the notification cards in the pull down and my settings menu.
But the fact I was still using the Layers Manager was probably the issue. I just installed the Substratum manager and it worked, at least for the notification cards. The settings menu wasn't completely themed, so I un-theme'd it.
This is all I really wanted! My PlayStore is also themed, the rest is left alone.

I normally don't theme the calendar or Google Photos, because I've had issues with the apps after they update - so I leave them alone.
No, not familiar with TBO? Is that "Total Black Out" or "Team Black Out"? If so, I have seen those.....But I like the more dark gray, or dark gray-blue themes as opposed to total black.

That's great news. I'm thinking maybe with that, Nova Launcher and TBO theme able apps for Google I may just be able to live with the factory ui for a while until we can get something more aosp once I get mine. I normally don't do Xposed with a custom ROM, but Xposed is great at modding a stock ROM....So, yes I installed Xposed for just a couple small things (using GravityBox):
1) Round battery icon
2) Center clock
3) More music volume steps (30)
I also used emoji switcher and have "Emoji One" emoji's.

Oh man, this is pretty much all I need to get me by until some actual development starts up. That is if we ever get sources or AOSP type ports. Only thing I worry about with ports is full functionality of all the features this phone has and oft times battery life can take a hit due to lack of full optimization. Thank you.

From looking at the Substratum page, it seems like it has two modes -- one with root and one without. Is that accurate? It'd be nice to have themeability while still staying stock.

How has everybody's experience been with Substratum and apps? I love the theming capability, but keep on having certain apps force close. This is my first attempt with Substratum so I am sure I am doing something wrong, but not quite sure where to look. I have ensured that apps are all updated, and I choose the correct version on theme application, but I still end up with certain apps crashing. For example, I was using swift black (very nice btw) and Google photos and facebook messenger would force close. Is it best to only theme system stuff and leave apps alone? Or is swift black to blame? Or am I doing something wrong like I suspect?
It depends greatly on the themers, but can be easily broken by an app update. Themers like de Jan, Niklas Schnettler, Jeremy Beck, I could go on... Are very thorough and quick about updating themes. One approach is to Apply all the Overlays, as I'm sure you've done, but if an app crashes, just go back into Substratum and reapply the specific app overlay. If this doesn't help (oh, and reboot) then remove, uninstall or disable that specific app overlay. I'd say I probably have a an 80% success rate on all Overlays working perfectly on a given theme. (I have maybe 15 apps over and above stock) You could also just not theme apps, and only system and the base stock apps. It will still be gorgeous...
Try these: Outline, Mono, (anything from DeJan or Kohlewrrk) Spectrum, Aligned)

Anyone know a theme that centers clock that currently works
I want to be able to theme my phone without rooting, and sure, the 1.99 for Andromeda is no big deal. However, a lot of other themes (like Archangel's navbar app) are paid as well, so I'd be spending more in addition to paying first to be able to theme. Are there any other themes with transparent navbars, or just any other way so that I wouldn't be spending more on top of the first price?
Currently this no longer works with 8.1 Beta until the code is updated by the developer..

Just so you guys realize, a nav bar without any pixels (total black) will actually leave a burn-in of that exact size. In order to limit that, you need to fill it with some color other than red (red pixels don't wear).

The fastest is Havoc followed by AEX extended.Dot is a nice rom.The key to these oreo roms running fast are the kernels and the two I use will benchmark 4000-5000+on antutu over stock kernels and you won't find them here on xda.

Thanks. How does screen dimming work on Pie? I always found the darkest to be too bright at night, and on Oreo the official screen dimming apps didn't work anymore because they didn't have the permission to draw over Android UI like notifications. So now I'm using an Xposed module that does the trick but, as far as I know, there is no Xposed for Pie.
