Hello,
I am having trouble with the Google Camera app on Nexus 6P running Lineage 15.1.
The google camera app was always very good when i was running stock. But with Lineage my HDR+ will just not work. what results in poor image quality in low light conditions.
I searched google for a solution to this and tried a few APK installers of google camera ports in the hope of fixing this.
But when i try to install the APK file it asks me if i want to 'update' the current Google camera version or cancel.
When i cancel, obviously nothing will happen so i hit update. But this fails too. With an error that just says 'App not installed'.
It's probably an easy thing to fix but i cannot seem to find the right help.
I'm pretty sure you need some gapps in order for camera to work. So that's something to check.
You are probably not able to install due to different signatures, which means you the apk you downloaded isn't signed by Google or Camera you have isn't signed by Google(which I doubt)
Try to uninstall it( if it's a system app, then just disable it) and install again(enable)
In case with pre-installed camera it will delete all the updates, so check if it works in that state. If it does - then it's the problem with a new version. Maybe you tried to update to version that isn't meant for Nexus series and is meant for Pixels only. So don't try to manually update it downloading apk. Let it update through play store.
Try this camera if nothing of it helped
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ne...d-camera-nx-v4-google-camera-zsl-hdr-t3494435
If it doesn't work and your camera isn't installed as a system app, delete it, then try this camera https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...-camera-hdr-60fps-video-t3658552/post77437875
But be careful with settings, you can break it easily, in that case just clear data for this camera

Well, it's a gapps package that included the camera in it. I flashed it right after the linage rom. So yeah it shows as system app.

Solved my problem. Tnx! I just disabled the 'system' app version.
Install v5.1, GAPPS come with latest version that don't process HDR. Newer versions don't process HDR at all for some reason at least on 5X (probably to prevent us from using pixel goodies in gcam).

Hi,
I can't seem to install Google's new uploaded camera. It seems many people have this problem as well (at least in the Nexus 4 section which is my device as well).
The error I got was "package file was not signed correctly...". That was when I had the photosphere camera so I deleted it's .apk and .sh files. After that I got the error "application already exists". Deleting the AOSP camera doesn't seem to help as well.
Any suggestions?
P.S this seems to be a custom rom problem, for example Slimkat users had this problem as well and the developers had to release some fix for it.
flashing the PA new google camera addon module, does not permit to upgrade / install the google camera from play store, it says that is not possible because of a wrong signature, then if i remove with root file explorer from /system/app and i try to install from market it says that application is already present, do someone know how to solve that? i'm on OmniROM
Solved...
Install apk from here:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/04/16/breaking-google-releases-stock-camera-app-to-the-play-store/
Worked for me without having to delete anything.
yes but the apk let you install mat it's not connected to google play store so if any upgrade exit you won't be able to installa automatically
Yep that is a problem... But you can just install the new apk again when it's updated that's all.
Is the still no solution for the problem? I'm experiencing it as well on my Nexus 4 running PA 4.4 rom
Use modular gapps
I am having zuk z2 plus and I recently installed a custom ROM (pixel experience 8.1.0). On first istallion the Google moded camera seams to be working fine but after a factory reset ,I again tried to install but the camera is not installing (" app not installed").so please help me out
My 6p was stock rooted using the "old" method with modified boot image (i.e. not systemless). I manually flashed the 6.0.1 update and apply superSU 2.62 (i.e. systemless root). The youtube app worked after the first boot, but when I rebooted the 6p the youtube app no longer works -- I kept getting "Please check your network connection". I uninstalled the app, clear app data/cache but to no avail. I even reflashed 6.0.1; again, the youtube app worked in the first boot, but no afterwards.
I've been on wifi all the time, and I could watch youtube from my browser by going to m.youtube.com (and use adobe flash).
Everything else works after the 6.0.1 update. I really don't want to have to do a factory reset. Please help!
try flashing an older version of youtube
Or, is it because two different root processes were used? Thought I read in another thread that causes issues????

Thanks. I tried that but it didn't work ("App not installed"). In fact I tried to install an old version in multiple ways:
* just install it from ES file explorer
* freeze the current one first using TB and then install
* put a copy of the old one in /data/app/com.google.android.youtube-1 and then install
* put a copy of the old one in /system/app/Youtube and then install
Same error message.

Never heard of that -- could you give me a reference? (I'm not disagreeing with you; I just want to learn more about it).
When I upgrade from 6 to 6.0.1. I reflashed everthing except userdata and recovery; in particular I had to reroot my 6p. I assume that would have erased the old root processes? (this is a question)
Please help me get back youtube!

uninstall all updates to the youtube app. then, flash clear youtube 10.43 LP-MM - from here http://teamblackedout.com/Transparent/ . I flashed it using TWRP, it installs as a system app, replacing your stock youtube app. so if you want to keep the stock youtube app make a backup or know how to pull the stock gapp from the stock factory images.
my youtube didn't work earlier, this is what i did and now it's all working right again
Edit: important that it's the MM version (marshmallow) if you grab it from that link

Thanks! Question: How would I uninstall all updates to my current youtube app?
On my older devices, under Settings>Apps>Manage Apps there is indeed a button for "Uninstall updates", but I can't find that on my 6p (or even my KitKat or Lollipop devices). I probably missed it; please help!

Yea I noticed that was weird. You can do it by hitting the uninstall button in Google play. It'll ask "do you want to uninstall updates"
Or from that system app menu you mentioned, you can select De activate app and it'll ask you if you want to uninstall updates

Thanks, but there is a new problem: On my 6p I don't even have the option to uninstall the youtube app!
I just notice that, according to TB, my phone only has one version of the youtube app; maybe that's why I can't uninstall updates? What would happen if I just flash the zip directly without uninstalling all updates?

if TiBu doesn't say "updated" then you just have the stock system youtube. i flashed the team blackout zip right over that system version and it fixed my problem. if you're problem is the same as mine, it should work.

The zip did remove the youtube system app. I then rebooted and successfully installed an older version of youtube. However, this older version (10.11.55) still gives me the "Check your network connection" error, and according to xprivacy this older version got installed as a system app!
When I first fired up the newer installed, older youtube I got a spinning circle on the screen. It seemed to try to log into my account and couldn't; maybe that's the network connection problem it refers to? BUT: (1) the play store works, (2) I've never logged into youtube (account blocked by xprivacy), (3) when I remove all xprivacy restriction the app still didn't work, (4) when I tried to manually sign into youtube it did not recognize my account!
I'm really confused. Suggestions and comments are most welcome!

10.11 may be too old a version. I just know 10.43 worked for me. i'd try that one if i were you
edit: if you flashed the 10.43 zip already, then installed 10.11 over it, you'd just need to uninstall updates to youtube and try to run the system version (which should be the 10.43 you flashed). also, try wiping YouTube app data in TiBu

I installed a 64bit 10.43 youtube apk, but that didn't work either. So I uninstalled it from TB, but the youtube icon still showed up in the application tray even through the app not longer worked when I clicked on it. Instead of using the cleaning zip I used instead the root explorer option in ES file explorer to remove this left-over youtube apk. Reboot, youtube now was really gone from the app tray. Then I reinstalled the 10.43 apk, and wa la, it worked even after multiple reboots!
I don't exactly know what happens; I'm just glad that it works THANKS!
Installed modded Play Store (through Lucky Patcher), install succeeded but Play Store would say not connected to the internet when launched, installed different versions of modded play store gave me the same result, gave up on modded Play Store and uninstalled it though Lucky Patcher and tried installing multiple versions from apkmirror, same thing, app installs, then tells me not connected to the internet when opened, so I thought Google Play Services was at fault, so I uninstalled both it and the Play Store through Titanium Backup, and even though I no longer have either installed, Play Store icon was still on the homescreen (won't launch though), did the Nougat update thinking it would overwrite the system partition and fix the issue, still the same.
Have though about flashing gapps, but thought it was too risky to install on non-AOSP, so now I don't know where to go from here, Help Please?
of course. Just download it via browser
Playstore ( unmodded ) : http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-store/google-play-store-7-3-07-k-all-0-pr-139935798-release/
Latest Play Service for x64 @480 DPI : http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-services/google-play-services-10-0-84-release/google-play-services-10-0-84-448-137749526-android-apk-download/
These are the right versions, no clue which you tried.
If youre on CM or the error still remains , download OpenGAPPS by any mirror and let it download the full AROMA package for x64. Flash the zip via twrp and select both missing apps. Watch your steps here, it asks you which to install and which to remove. For me the Aroma Control is a big buggy. You have to play with the volume rockers and the power button to go through the setup.
By the Way : I recommend to follow Google INC there to get the latest beta versions pre playreleased
For the future...
I would not recommend messing with Google apps and Lucky Patcher. This app can really mess up your accounts.
I also don't think it is allowed to discuss any Lucky Patcher related issues on these forums since large parts of "activities" that this app is used for are not completely legal.
The so-called modded APK from theirs can't be installed as it lacks a certificate. However if you achieve perfection after signing the APK and using their "second" method the following message persists:
Code:
Authentication is required. You need to sign into your Google Account.
reference:i63.tinypic.com 2ex1ug7.png
I used one x86 ver of Phonesky, it could do well with Play Store WITHIN ONLY A FEW MINUTES. Then it showed "Service stops. " The modded APK looks promising, there must be some other tricks to bypass the Google Serivce check.
I'm running Lineage 17.1 Nightly without GAAPs. And the AOSP camera is terrible. Every photo comes out blurry.
I tried installing Gcam V.2.2.1 from Arnova8G2 and OOS camera apks from mirror apk but nothing works. After install I get the same problem, "Camera Keeps Stopping".
Does anyone know of a work around for this. I can't get any camera apk working, (other than the stock pre-installed AOSP camera)
You can't just use the OOS Camera. You need a bunch of other libraries and such to make the OOS camera work.
Once I find a GCam that everything works on I tend to just stick with it. On 17.1 I'm using, 7.2_GCam_Urnyx05-v2.1.apk.
Look here, download GCam from here. (I would start by trying 2.1 since it works for me.)
Other versions are here if you want to try them.
Next to the 2.1 download click the configs link, scroll down to OnePlus 6/6T. These are XML files, I would download the first one natural / noiseless. You can try others later if you want. In internal storage of your device create a folder called GCam, inside that folder create one called Configs7. Place that XML that you just downloaded (oneplus6t-more-naturally-and-noiselessly-v2.xml) inside Configs7.
Now when you open the camera double tap the black area near the button that takes a picture, and select that XML.

Thank you so much! I did followed everything you said, but I still have the same problem. The app force closes before I get the chance to add the config. I tried enabling all of the permissions from "app info" along with allowing it to "modify system settings". But it still force closes

Just out of curiosity, Does installing WebView fix it? ? (You can uninstall it if it doesn't).
Im trying to think of what might be different since this works for me. Some apps require webview and will crash immediately if you dont have it. The LOS browser should work for this, but I've found for many apps it doesn't. There is a a library that is required for WebView on some ROMs (like Omni), but Ive never needed it on LOS.

Sorry for the late reply. I installed webview, but that didn't change anything.
It's also worth noting that after flashing Lineage, I lost my TWRP recovery. I then flashed Magisk through Lineage's supplied recovery.
I wish there was a simple solution for this. I came from OmniRom and Omni had the stock OOS camera and it was great! But without GAAPS installed, Omni is way too glitchy for my liking. That's the only reason why I'm using Lineage, to avoid random app force closures....guess I didn't avoid it entirely with the camera issue

Wait.... Several things in there. So did you use the MicroG version of Omni then? As Omni can use Gapps if you use the regular build of Omni? Next did you just flash LOS straight over Omni? This maybe giving you issues. Also that GCam folder must be in place otherwise it won't work, you did that step right? As for recovery, yes, you have to flash TWRP after LOS to keep TWRP.
I have a Lineage Install Guide here. The second post has the cliff notes version if you want. However the long version does have some extra stuff in it, like passing safety net and such.

Yes, I tried the micro-g version on Omni...twice. I haven't tested the standard version yet. When I flashed Omni, however, I didn't flash it over OOS. It was a clean flash.
I did not flash Lineage over anything either.
Yes I have that GCam folder in my internal storage, as instructed.
Appreciate the info, I'll check out your install guide!
Edit: Worth mentioning that when I used Omni. Both times, there was a broken google search bar at the top of the app home screen page. Couldn't get rid of widget, use it, nor move it. It was stuck in place, and no longer said "Google". It was an entirely blank search bar.
Hi
Like Google Play, is there an updater that updates app from APKmirror or others automatic?
There are but I would suggest aurora which uses Google play without an account
Forgot to mention, it can also be apps that are not on Google Play.
Ex for me is: Disney+, have to find it on apkmirror (or others), has disappeared from my Google Play....
Ofcourse other apps also, that is not on google play.
Disney + is still on Google play Maybe not for your country or something but aurora uses anonymity to show you everything on the Play store
Something happens after a reset of my Shield. So can't find it anymore.
I will try aurora, tried it now on my phone, looks great.
New to this, so 1 question: Is it possible to make update and install. Now I had to hit install/upgrade for each of the apps?
And maybe run in the background and update apps?
With root yes that will auto update
Thanks for the answer.
Haven't read or tried that in years. Maybe I'll check for the Shield, my phone is brand new so I'll have to think about that.
Is it still the hassel of USB, program and much code on the laptop, if I could ask?
Now it's just using a modified boot file. An oversimplified explanation is to just enable oem unlock, reset to factory settings, extract the boot file, magisk modifies it, put it back in the phone and boom you're rooted
Thanks, will try to find the howto for my Shield and maybe my phone.
