Buddy have you checked XDA portal and this device section ? The guy who posted this first (check the date ) is the one who will get the credit. While your intentions may be noble (about informing everybody of this workaround) posting a new thread about the same thing/duplicity is not helping it and it may seem like you are not giving credit where it's due.

You can ask me to delete the post on the grounds of similar post being published in this community, making it double posts. But u can't ask me to give credit to someone who I'm not even aware of.

Now you are the one jumping about. Did I say that you got the idea from his post? Read my post carefully, especially the intention part. I have neither visited those 100s of sites you mention nor do I intend to for the simple reason that XDA is place where usually things happen first and for the best as can be seen in this case itself.
It is your fault that you are unaware of the original thread posted on XDA itself and that too in this device section + being featured on XDA Portal. Ignorance in this case is not bliss. And you should be smart enough to atleast edit the post for giving credits if not deleting it altogether. Rather you seem hell bent on not even acknowledging it, let alone take corrective action. To each, his own I guess...

It's my fault if I'm unaware of whatever thread/forum/post that you are following? And I'm ignorant for not following the same feed that you follow? You reply on my thread and dictate me to credit someone that you have been following! You are being so adamant on making me acknowledge someone that I didn't even get any ideas from!
Dude Relax, waste your time on the other sites go around forcefully insisting people to credit someone as per your liking. If they don't oblige then be insulting to them and call out names(may be ignorant). :good:
I don't mind deleting this post on the basis of it being a similar post to someone else (thus making mine a duplicate) and so to avoid double postings. But don't play the blame game and insult others.

Umm.. The senior editor of XDA has given credits to the guy so its suffice to say that it's a general rule at Xda and in comparison your post/thread doesn't even count.
Regarding your rhetorical/condescending question - There is this nice saying "monkey see monkey do".
Is that adequate enough for you!!
The rant comes after reading all your posts in the thread.

MJ wasn't the one who invented the moonwalk, he was the one who popularized it. Do you know the person who should be actually credited for the moonwalk? Or is it that you are 'ignorant' because you are 'unaware' about it, or perhaps didn't follow other guy.

There is nothing wrong with being helpful. But it is how you help. When you help in this kind of a situation it only confirms in a persons mind that all they need to do is ask!! And on this forum that wrong. Here the forum rules cleary state to search first. They are outlined in great detail. So giving answers on redunt threads started like these only goes to encourage that kind of behaviour. Did you think that if goofeyass had the cab then he must have gotten it somewhere as well?? @Curious George: Every single post I have seen of yours in the past few days seems to be *****ing about new threads etc. Why? It's been going on for ages and it's not going to stop, especially with such a crude attitude to it, so why bother annoying people? It might increase your post count but it's incredibly annoying for everyone!
Let the mods do their job.
GEORGE! A great way to control a forum is to let the moderators do they job. If disagreed the topic would be locked, or better: deleted. The forum rules clearly state: Only post here if you are a developer/resource etc... If you go hard into the rules then you just broke them as well. Until a moderator speaks we should be nice. I'm sure you are nice as well but you just dont sound like that. A good community way of saying what you just did is:
"Here is your file. Next time, please take the time to search thus NOT spamming the forum with useless threads."
And see: now even I broke the forum rule ;P
Part from this: The forum search function here sux bigtime and its a bottleneck to this great place. Atleast, I think we both can agree to that.
Moderators: Shall you just lock this nonsense?
some people take the internet too serious

This is quoted from the developer of SetCPU and his thread:
ROM developers: I became aware of a number of devs who are now bundling this version of SetCPU with ROMs. For now, do not include SetCPU with your ROM. If it is in your ROM, please remove it. I'm probably going to find out a solution to this but barely anyone is giving (enough) credit or mentioning that it's also in the Market, and on top of that, they are putting their own donate links in there (the worst offenders do not give credit at all). Most devs are putting the APK in /system/app making purchasing (donating!) and upgrading SetCPU difficult, and rendering the one time donate link useless. That's a kick in the face to me. No dev has bothered to ask me for permission. It's really irritating me - SetCPU has been a huge effort, it's older than most of your ROMs (look at the date of this topic, look at how many times it's been updated - this isn't even the full changelog), and I would like people to at least read this thread.
I appreciate the work you're doing, but link to this thread instead. It is free here.

well I believe you should post this through the entire site as many of the dev’s have moved on to other phones I did read the notice about 3 weeks ago, it was posted, Hopefully others will follow your request even if they are just upgrading an existing rom or a new one from scratch.
Yeah, this is a very good app. .. I had no promblem getting the paid version after useing it compared to the overclock widget
Thread moved to General.
I removed from my rom before it came out of testing phase. I actually prefer overclock widget but that's a different convo

If u look in the market it is a paid app. On xda he gives it out for free but respectfully asks that since its a paid app he shares here for free then he would like people to be directed to his page to get it. Makes sense to me. There is a lot of info on his page and u find out who made it and how to use it.
First off, this is another bad call by mods toi move this to a general section when out of respect for the developer of the app, it was posted in he development section since it is directly affecting ROMs that are being made.
I agree it should be sitewide but that's not my business.
In response to you, chfields, I really hope you're not directing that response to me personally. I am not the one who made the original post. I made this post so the guys here who make ROMs can respect a man's wishes. Simple as that.
cbarlan: you're absolutely correct. Devs here, as well as anywhere else, should be respectful enough to post a guide on how to use it or whatever, or at least post a simple link and not include the application, per the app dev's request.
Guys, it's a respect issue mainly. I aint stirring the **** pot, aint trying to make anyone upset, and I don't think this information will get the proper attention it deserves being shoved off into a non-related sub-forum when this information directly affects the development of any ROMs that use this app.

I have had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the creation of this app, but I follow this guy on Deviant Art, he is constantly coming up with useful things for windows, I had a look today and I found this and though people may find this useful:
WinADB: A Frontend for “adb” Command for Google Android Mobile Phones
This quote is taken from: HERE
If you have a Google Android mobile phone, you might be already knowing about "adb" command which is used to flash mobile phones, installing applications, copying files, etc.
This command is provided using a command-line and doesn't have any GUI.
Our friend "Solo-Dev" @ DA has created a frontend for this command so that you can take all advantages of "adb" command easily and quickly.
"WinADB" is a frontend for "adb" command used for Google Android mobile phones. All the required files you will need are included in the ZIP file. It also includes the required usb drivers for your PC.

@Mystic,
I agree with Thatruth here, I don't think memin meant anything bad, just posted with emphasis that the post shouldn't have had in the first place. I edited his comment (removed the caps) and deleted your post so that this thread can get back on topic. Please guys, keep it that way... there is no reason to be fighting over something like this.

While alternatives are always welcome, you nearly hijacked Mystic's thread here. Next time, if you need to share something, please do it in your own thread. You will not be flamed as long as you post in the right section

This thinking seems to be common on XDA from what I can tell and it seems flawed. Lets say for example someone is searching for ADB interface apps or by name for either of these apps it would greatly be helpful to read this post and see there is a better option available and that the general opinion is one app may be better then the other. If we can't respond to a thread with facts or opinions you end up seriously crippling the information sharing ability and quality of information on this site.
Sorry to carry this on further in this thread but I really think this is something for you to consider changing your mind about and maybe others who have posted might feel the same way.
The case.....
I want a extra option on the tread with the ability to agree with some one.
I read the most post, on my phone with the XDA app.
And i find it hard to read stuff that is relevant for me to read.
Imagine how hard it must be for a dev to find relevant post........
There are a large number of users who post "+1, +100000, +1!!!!!" replies with no bearing on the thread. I'm thought of adding an "Agree" button would alleviate that.
That you could see that also (like the thanks button).
Something like this: The following (numbers) user are agree with this post.
I hope that it will help.
My hope with this poll is to see how many people wanted this.
So the question is:
Do you think this is a good idea (the agree button) to put this on the site?
Thanks in advance
PS if you don't think this is a good idea, please let me know why....
+1
It would surely help avoid the threads getting messy. Also it would be great without a "5 agree" limit like the "5 thanks" limit a day.
I agree to this post as right now i'm using the "thanks" button for that unless i have further on topic info.
definitely a valid option let´s hope mods see that. already voted
u can have agree/disagree (though this can lead to trolls/spammers screwing up credibility of the post)
i think this is a valid concern and we should have an "Agree" button...
Yeah.. "disagree" will just make more trolling.
Nice idea ...

+1000000
If there was an "Agree" button, I'd push it right now and I wouldn't be making this post.
xda forums really need to limit non-contributing posts. Almost every single thread here is a total mess.
sure, now if someone wants to contact vbulletin and have them rewrite their software, then redistribute it, then xda could implement it.
I love when people have very brilliant ideas.

I agree guys !
This is something like the like/dislike on facebook, linkedin and whatnot.
It would possibly require some recoding on vBulletin. Don't see that it would be "too hard" (and I may be completely wrong), but take a minute to ponder what the utility of "n" agrees/don't agree on post in threads with liek 5000 posts.
What about putting in an agree/don't agree or like/dislike PER THREAD -
Another possibility would be to replicate the "thanks" funcionality for "agrees" - the functionality is already there (Each post already mentions users which have thanked another FOR A GIVEN post) just a new "agree" variable/counter and use pretty much existing code.
Then again I may be off my rocker. Haven't touched PHP in several years, nor vBulletin. FYI there are some threads on this/similar functionality in the vBulletin forum: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=241011&highlight=like/dislike

Only a Like/Agree would be okay. We don't want negative things here You should also know that XDA runs on vB3 and not vB4.
Mod edit.
I watched this video on YouTube and I want to share this video with you guys. It has a lot of useful information, however, it is 44 minutes long, so get comfortable before you watch it.

This is another very long video with a lot of good information about the N20 Ultra, however, it is 58 minutes long. So you might want some popcorn to go along with it.

You could have posted a summary or TLDW for those who would rather not sit through a video and would rather read instead.....

You should stop expecting people to do things for you to make your life easier. Come out of your entitlement and do it yourself if you want to help.
OP Thanks for sharing.

This is a forum, not Reddit. We don't just dump off video links and tell people to go watch it if they want to know what's in the video. Please stop enabling laziness. Thread reported....

Its never too late to educate yourself, see This LINK - something you can learn today about this being a forum and Reddit being ..............
You can report it as much as you want. Looks like you do not understand English, based on the forum rules this is appropriate. Since you did not understand the first time, you kind of reinforced what i said to be appropriate by reporting the thread, you are entitled. Come out of it. Also learn to read, the topic does say whats inside the video and there is a brief about why the OP was sharing. Another thing is if you see the context of the rule, that external copy paste is to avoid copying other people's work, how else will you share a video link (SMH). This sort of information sharing is perfectly fine lets see what the mods think.. @android-incredible i am with you on this.
Greetings to all. Just wanted to drop in to please ask everyone to stop criticizing the OP, and each other. Either report the issue that your not happy with, or just ignore it. The XDA Moderator Staff would be grateful if we didn't have any "vigilante" moderators on the forums. I have added a description to both of the posts in question, so please let this be the end of it. Thank you for your cooperation, and a pleasant day to all.
