Just wondering how to install the 7.1 update with root and a unlocked bootloader? When it starts to install it gets stuck about a quarter of the way thru.
Wait for the developer image. the ota is suppose to be able to install even with root which started with 6.3 but if it wont install I would just wait for the developers image

Hey what's up happy thanksgiving I'm trying to update my nexus to the latest version lollipop I'm currently on 4.4.4 I have my boot loader unlocked but I'm not rooted is there a way to rush the update to my phone without rooting
Yeah dude it's called adb sideload update and you don't need to be rooted to do it (or probably even unlocked, but you are anyway, doesn't matter).
You can get the link to the nexus 7 OTA zip from the second sticky in the general section.
Then either google "how to adb sideload update" or see what I wrote here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-7/general/lollipop-ota-update-via-adb-data-t2941175 if you didn't install a custom recovery or never rooted and messed with your system folder, you can skip the part about flashing stock 4.4.4 system and recovery.
I always like to have the latest stable updates from google.
If I root my MXP, will I be loosing these updates and should depend only on custom ROMs?
Yes you won't get any updates...so why do you want to root ,if you want a stable phone?
Some custom ROM's are stable .
Using the marshmallux 2.0 myself, with better performance then the original android 6.
there is a root method called systemless root.with this supersu (systemless) you can receive OTA normally and then from another app,you can install this update and then also this app will re-root your phone.
If you root you can stil get the ota updates mate!!!!!!!! just download the ota file whenever you get the update then unroot your device from the supersu itself and flash the update!!!!! i have a rooted x play and when i get any updates i unroot and then install the ota and the again root my device ...... as simple as that
http://www.howtogeek.com/249162/what-is-systemless-root-on-android-and-why-is-it-better/ even more easy!
Hloo guys i want to know that if i install twrp recovery, thn will i get official OTA updates or i have roll back to stock recovery....
The safest would be to receive the ota and then root if the custom recovery has support for the ota installed as it changes a lot of things.
From the twrp faq:
Installing official updates usually removes root and replaces your custom recovery with a copy of a stock recovery. Most of the time the best way to get a new update onto your device is to simply wait a couple of days for ROM makers for your device to come up with ROMs that are based on the new update that you can safely and easily install.

Hi,
I'm using HTC ONE M9+, today finally HTC released 6.0 Update for M9+,my hpne downloading update without any problem when i click to Install Now it says Rebooting and after reboot TWRP Kicks in and does nothing. Is there any way to disable TWRP to install this new update ?
Flash back the corresponding "stock" recovery.
You must also have an unmodified system to apply the OTA successfully.
i've flashed "recovery_verified.img__TW_1.90.709.3" now TWRp disabled but during update (at %23) it says OTA failed, my OTA is TW, according to error message i need europe's OTA which i couldn't find on internet
i actually have the same issue i have tried copying the ota and tried flashing through adb but it shows that error executing updater binary zip file and errror flashing the device
im running L 5.0.1 and want to update to m 6.0.1 through ota
i have unlocked bootloader but s-on .how to flash the otp? thanks in advance
MIracles happen! Is there anyone that have already made the update and can tell if the sense it's still there or if HTC have removed everything like in the HTC 10?
i think i can update my phone to 6.0 if i can find Europe OTA, i've searched everywhere but i couldn't find it
even i have downloaded the update but cant install as i have system partition modified...i ve searched for a ruu or stock rom but couldnt find anywhere...however i do have the Indian OTA update.
did anyone managed to install 6.0 update yet ?
Hey guys,
My G5+, which is running NPN25.137-83, rooted with Magisk, TWRP, Xposed just prompted me for an OTA update.
I'm guessing if i try to update i'll (best case scenario) break something, worst case brick my phone.
I'm running Aug2017 security patch.
This OTA update says it includes Security updates till Nov2017 + Stability improvements.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

Do not apply the update, it will end up failing as you have TWRP installed, but every time you restart your phone, it will boot to TWRP and then you'll have to reboot from TWRP to bootloader and then system. Anyways, I recommend waiting until the OP of the TWRP flashable stock thread updates the links with that update and then flash the update via TWRP. Make sure you go into developer options and turn off automatic updates. You can also use an app to freeze Motorola update service if you don't want to be notified about the update.

Per the TWRP flashable stock thread guide, I downloaded the OTA and shared the zip there
Thanks @jeffsga88! I will disable automatic updates to avoid any accidents.
