[Q] G900S outside Korea

Hi,
i bought an unlocked galaxy S5 SM-G900S (SK telecom), 32 Gb..
It's a wonderful phone but it seems that it is half locked:
cannot update OTA if no korean sim card is in the phone.
my phone always thinks that it's roaming.. i always have 2 clocks (home and local).
in the call settings, there is no call forward or divert.
no way to make a 3 way call (conference call) as the "merge" button isn't there. I can only swap calls.
i can live with everything mentioned above except the conference call lacking; it is very very important to my work.
i tried to flash the international firmware G900F but it kept failing; when i flashed the G900S firmware it went very smoothly.
my question:
anyone else with this problem? any developer has any idea about what should be done.
what bothers me i may need to sell the only 32gb version available (as far as i know) just for one setting.

Just checked it out with the new firmware... appreciable performance improvement, however no conference ability as of yet. I tried to flash some custom roms, however the recovery image is just not getting uploaded.
So still stuck with everything as it was before..

Update - Just got the clockwork update for this model :
Download from here, choose the right blue button to download.

After you download the clockwork mod - do the following :
(1) Download the XtreStoLite v.1.1.3 ROM
- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2732110
(2) Ensure that you have the ROM on an external sd card and that you have put that inside your device
(3) Install the clockwork recovery via Odin 3.7 version
(4) Power down after above step
(5) Press the Volume UP + HOME + Power button to start in the recovery mode
(6) Wipe the data clean
(7) Install the ROM from the SD card - this will be interactive and self explanatory ( choose the 900L model )
(8) Restart and everything will be in the format you want... AND OF COURSE MERGE IS BACK

I plan to buy this in India. Would the phone still show in roaming? After flashing the custom firmware ?

After flashing the ROM everything comes back to normal. I had a Vodafone connection(this is showing up and not the HTMPL or some weird connection) and everything is working fine including the 3G and Roaming. The roaming problem was occurring only with the Korean firmware. After applying the ROM, your model will show as 900L and not 900S. The L model basically works like any normal phone in India.
Faced only two problems so far :
(1) Kies does not sync. So ensure that you have an application like Superbackup for your contacts and what-not.
(2) The OK-google now talk functionality on the home screen goes away. You can get this back by installing the google launcher, but I like the touchwiz UI a bit better, so decided to do away with it.
Rest everything is good and the speed has also increased.
PS - Considering you are getting a 30 % discount on the korean phone based on the indian price(I took it a month back at 22 % Dis.), its totally worth it. You might spend a day cracking the phone, but then 30% savings is more than enough to make up for it.

Hai Bunty, Just one question.
After installing L rom, have you tried installing any other L roms or KLTE roms like Slim Rom or AOKP or Carbon rom
I'm getting my S model phone next week and never wanted to end up having only few roms.

I have the same phone , and I ask this because I don't know so much about this **** : If I change the ROM , i can reach the download mode and service mode in english ? because right now is in koreean , and btw i can go in download mode . Hi,
You should be able to access everything even before changing the ROM. I only changed the ROM as I wanted the conference call facility. If you are fine without that I would suggest to just change the language in the first screen of the boot up and then use the standard ROM that Samsung provides. You will be getting kies updates everytime samsung makes the new ROM available.

do you know how i change the language ? because when i push the power+vol down+ home i can go in the download mode , i have some koreean think , and I don't know how to change . Thank you for the help .

Cant get to download mode it goes in some mode and all options are in korean its not recovery mode either

I created this thread with the sole aim of helping the owners of the Japanese SAMSUNG GALAXY ALPHA SC-03E NTT DOCOMO to install the latest version of Android (LOLLIPOP) on their devices without much hassle. All updates will be provided in the future.
REQUIREMENTS
1. A properly functioning SAMSUNG GALAXY ALPHA SC-03E NTT DOCOMO. We don’t want to receive any feedback from users with faulty phones.
2. FULLY CHARGED BATTERY. This is to prevent the phone from going off in the flashing process
3. A CUSTOM RECOVERY installed.
If you don’t have one download Sc03e-KK-KBC-CWM-v6.0.5.1_r2-recovery and install with Odin with same
a. Hold the Power Button + Volume Down + Home at the same time. Your phone will enter Download Mode.
b. Now connect your phone to the PC via USB cable whiles Odin is opened.
c. Now in Odin click the PDA button and open the Rom that you downloaded earlier.
d. Make sure F.Reset time and Auto reboot are all ticked
e. Now click Start button and wait for it to display PASS at the top left corner. Your Phone might restart a few times.
f. If you have an NK2 rom go check this thread on how to root it.
NOTE: If you have an older CWM installed, update to this one.
THINGS TO DOWNLOAD
1. ANDROID LOLLIPOP ROM 5.1 http://site.kbc-brick.org/samsung/sc03e/sc03e_rom_cm12-1]CM12.1 UNOFFICIAL[/URL]
2. GOOGLE APP ...
INSTALLING THE LOLLIPOP ROM
1. Copy the downloaded files and place them in the phone memory or SD card(recommended)
2. BACKUP your current OS in the recovery menu so that you can restore it if you encounter any problems in the flashing process.
3. To Enter the recovery menu, turn off your phone completely. PRESS and HOLD the POWER button + Volume UP + HOME button at the same time . When DOCOMO is displayed leave the power button and still keep holding the other buttons.
4. In recovery, use volume buttons to navigate and Power to select. Now go to wipe data/factory reset and wipe data, then wipe cache partition , then go to advanced and wipe Dalvic cache.
5. When all is done go to install zip and install the cm-12.1-2015xxxx-UNOFFICIAL-sc03e.zip first.
6. When done install the GAPPS package.
NOTE: IF YOU HAVE CWM 6.0.4.7 THE GAPPS PACKAGE WONT INSTALL.
7. Now go back and wipe data , cache partition and Dalvic cache again then reboot. Upon exiting CWM you will be asked to fix your root binaries... say yes!
8. Your phone will boot into Android L with a Cyanogen boot animation.
9. Set up you phone and make sure to update all your Google apps and viola! :good:
NOTE: You will have to enable root in developer options.. enable it by tapping build number several times

bug report:
The folder displays nothing.
I put 2 icons on the screen together to create a folder. When I open the folder, There's nothing.
When I move the folder to another place. The icons in ther folder are visible once. When I opened twice, the icons are still invisible.

Thanks for your great job! That's really unbelievable that I can use the newest lollipop on my old sc03e. Everything seems to work perfectly except the sound when make a call. I know my listening is not good enough, but the effect of call is not as good as the original system. Could you please make some more efforts to improve this?

My device will lost the data access of mobile network(GSM edge), especially after the device sleep for a time.
The apn is set and the switch is on, but it's disconnected.
It occurs since cm-12-20150328-UNOFFICIAL-sc03e.zip, cm-12-20150320-UNOFFICIAL-sc03e.zip is ok.
Is there anyone has the same problem.

this happened when the developer changed the rom into kitkat RIL.. help us cos ussd code is very important to us like we use it to check our prepaid balance..

@ma34S could you build a sc03e 4.4.4 kernel for sc03e to use 4.4.4 i9305 touchwiz based rom?

Sometimes, camera is not working..
Camera is not available or not working at some time, is it a bug? in order for camera to work again i need to restart my phone.. can you fix it plz..
anyway, it's a good custom ROM for SC-03E..

All what i did with the phone:
1. I rooted it successfully
2. I wanted to unroot it because of updates(I am waiting for the release of android n)
3. I flashed the stock firmware(16th June) with sp flash tool but it stopped with an error i dont know anymore
4. I tried to flash the parts of the rom singly but it stopped at system at 23%
5. I read that it would work when i take the battery out
6. I took the battery out and flashed the firmware and it was successfull
7. I put the battery back in but now it wont boot up(No recovery, bootloader)
I read somewhere that i must flash the firmware with pressing volume down button but it didnt work too
Pls help me
is this maybe a hardware issue and if it is: can i fix it?

hi, i don't know exactly what your problem is, but i can tell you that a similar problem was fix it by flashing firmwares by sp!

I have same problem , I receive a lott a error messages , I pull out battery and I resoft with first relase software .
I try many times, only download, download+format etc. .......error agayn.
After that I put format + download but I mark just 3- 4 -5 issue from list and work/
After another next 3 4 5 ..........so until I finish all
Now work.
I make even fota update.

My phone suddenly faced a bootloop, i was on cyanogen 13. just looping the Lenovo logo. Not able to get into recocery.. But QFIL detecting phone, and i even flashed the kitkat version of stock.. The process shows success but still im stuck at bootloop, even tried various method.. Your valuable help appreciated here

I think it's some hardware problem. The phone when first came to market has one of the best specifications. Other players had significantly higher prices of their phones providing same hardware. So, I think that Lenovo compromised​ on the hardware components to provide the SD410 and 2gigs of RAM for this price. I many times had problems with proximity and light sensor. Also the battery sometimes awkwardly dies giving very bad backup and only when you decide to replace it, it automatically starts working fine, for some time atleast. Then same thing happens again.
So, I think its problem with some hardware component. Otherwise, flashing from QFIL successfully, would have unbricked the phone.

Managed to boot into recovery somehow and flashed a ROM but then again it went back to bootloop while unlocking the lockscreen

i have solution.
First off all remove battery then insert it again , after this press vol. Up + vol. Down + power on button by doing this your device completely boot recovery which one is now installed with software.
You said previously that your device is on only showning logo , its mean you have 60℅ chance to get your device in working condition.
Bro if you flashed stock kikat firmware then without flashing any software again just simply flash kitkat twrp recovery through adb . After this flash any kitkat rom ( recommended cm 11 by ed300 ) , huree you get your device live.
OR
If you recently flashed stock lolipop then without flashing any software again just simply flash lolipop twrp recovery through adb . After this flash any lolipop based or marshmallow based or naughat based rom , after that any rom from these android version will work , hurreee you got your phone alive but remember dont again directly flash kitkat rom over any lollipop , marshmallow, naughat rom otherwise you will again got bootloop . But you can directly only flash stock kitkat over stock lolipop or stock lolipop over stock kitkat only . I hope you understand what to do :good:

could any one help me please how to see the rom installed properly .

I will tell you my story maybe could happen with samone .
I have huawei P10 lite WAS-LX1A (C02) was grate without any issue . I tried to installa android auto in my phone and linked to my car. ==> need the ROOT
I checked in thiw web site how to root . 1 unlock bootloader then install recovery
at this point I forgot to save a backup the big problem is here ***** please always make a backup ***
so I install recovery . and I tried to install Magisk and sudenly the phone stuck in the logo .I tried many option factory reset and wip everything so I tried to install new ROM using dload . maybe I tried 5 or 7 Roms ( WAS-LX1) europ and not solved . but sudenly the phone after triying roms worked and the second issue is I stuck again on this build version 8.0.0.046 (0xyz) hhhhhh I tried many other ROMS and nothing helped me .
hora I find the solution in thisvideo : just connect the phone via usb and connect HISUITE then choose update after that absolutly the HISUITE will say that you are in the lastest vesrion 8.0.0.046 (0xyz) and another option below is find previous version . oh gode this is the solution the compatible version appear . donload it and you are great .
I hope my post could help people have the same issue

did you encrypt the internal storage with the fstab.hi6250b.zip then format Data partition....reboot to recovery...now wipe Cache, Dalvik, Data, intern Storage and System...reboot to recovery again. Now you can flash a custom Rom
