I cannot hear the caller's voice on SIM 2, nor he/she can hear me.
This is a known bug and the developer is working hard on it.
The problem is that he does not use Dual SIM, although he has a SM-G7102, and relies on testers, which slows down fixing.
The phone takes 10-15 seconds to boot up, and the boot animation is really slow. Is that a warning from God that I watched too much porn? (Screen lock bug users only)
Not in this case. The ROM build for screen lock bug users has that problem. It's a known bug.
But it might be a warning from God, too. Porn is bad.
The screen turns off, but would not turn on again.
Flash the latest version, the one marked "for screen lock bug users". Note that video recording is broken on that.
I cannot make or receive calls, SMS messages, or use mobile data on both SIM cards.
You aren't using the latest version of this ROM.
The <camera/Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/Auto rotation/whatever> doesn't work.
You aren't using the latest version of this ROM.
<Insert something here> is broken.
Make sure you have the latest release (from the link above) and that the broken feature is not on the Known Bugs list.
What variants of the Grand 2 does this ROM work on?
As of the build dated Feb. 11th, 2015, this ROM only works on SM-G7102 (the 3G Dual SIM international variant).
Users of other variants, such as the 4G LTE SM-G7105, the Brazilian SM-G7102T, and other variants would have to avoid flashing this.
Video recording does not work.
If you have faced the screen lock issue and flashed the build for screen lock issue users, video recording would not work.
Update: VivaVideo works.
FM Radio doesn't work and shows this:
FM operation failed. If the problem persists, please turn off FM and turn it back on

This issue occurs when using the bundled CodeAurora Forum FM Radio app.
To fix it, download the open-source SpiritF app, open it (obviously), and turn FM Radio on with the headset plugged in. You won't hear anything. Press "Menu" and choose "Analog". You will hear radio come on. Choose " Menu" then "Digital" again to get louder volume.
b. Programs and software
How do I enable root access?
Two methods:
Method 1:
Flash the SuperSU ZIP fire (UPDATE-SuperSU-*.zip)
Method 2:
- From About Device in Settings, tap the Build Number seven times to enable Developer Options.
- Go back and choose Developer Options, then choose Root Access. This option allows you to enable root access for ADB, apps, or both.
Can I import or export contacts to the SIM card?
No. AOSP-based ROMs, including CyanogenMod, do not have the ability to access the SIM card contacts due to legal restrictions.
Why are many CyanogenMod 11 options, previously found in Settings, gone?
The CM team is still integrating CyanogenMod sources into AOSP Lollipop. You can check CyanogenMod's website for details.
In the meanwhile, many Xposed modules can replicate that functionality for you, most notably GravityBox [LP].
Can I upgrade from CyanogenMod 11 and keep my apps and data?
Yes, but you will have to set a new pattern if you had a pattern lock 4x4 or over (as you'll face a glitch where any pattern unlocks the screen) and you will lose custom notification panel tiles, system apps and mods under /system, and Xposed (you will have to download the latest version by hand).
Can I upgrade from stock/GenNxt/Turbo/MicroKat/<insert stock-based ROM here> and keep my apps and data?
Unfortunately, no. You will have to wipe your /data partition prior to installing CyanogenMod.
Does DedS Kernel/Motion Kernel/<insert some kernel here> work on CyanogenMod 12?
No. TouchWiz kernels do not boot AOSP/CM ROMs.
Where is the Google Play Store? Why is it in a different download?
To get it back, flash a Google Apps (commonly Gapps) package, available as a separate download.
Google Play Store, and other Google apps, are not included in AOSP-based custom ROMs, like CM, because of a legal requirement imposed by the CyanogenMod v. Google lawsuit, where Steve Kondik, founder of Cyanogen Inc. (formerly CyanogenMod), was accused by Google of stealing intellectual property (Gapps + proprietary drivers), so he offered to remove them from his ROM. As a result, all AOSP-based ROM makers were required to perform the same action.
<Some app> does not work on this ROM, while it worked on <CyanogenMod 11/stock/some ROM>!
It may not be compatible with Lollipop/Android Runtime (ART). Check with the app's developer for an updated version.
Freedom does not work on this ROM! Do I have to actually pay for in-app purchases?
In fact, it doesn't work on all Lollipop ROMs. But don't worry, you ain't paying to get $9999 in Jetpack Joyride. You can use Lucky Patcher.
Why isn't this ROM updated via CyanogenMod Updates?
This ROM is an UNOFFICIAL build.
However, the developer offers an alternative that he maintains if you donate.
Can I use proprietary Samsung apps and features like S Note, Smart Screen features, GALAXY Apps, and Air Command?
No, due to the unavailability of Samsung framework resources in CyanogenMod. Why not switch to some stock ROM instead?
Does GravityBox [LP] work on this ROM?
Its developer says no, but I confirm it does. In fact, some options even work on TouchWiz!

1. Donation is an appreciation and a kind gesture toward the developer's hard work and his valuable time.
2. Being a donor means you can not expect or demand any fix for bugs or any mishappening with your device

As stated before for some reason the screen pinning does not work with normal keys so a solution for now is to enable soft keys by adding
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
To the build prop in
/system/
And saving it and restart your device

it is because you use location tag. so after clearing camera data and cache, relaunch camera and make sure you don't activate location tag. the first launch of camera will promt you whether you want to activate location tag or not. if you activate it, you will face the camera bug, but else if you don't activate it the camera work perfectly for taking photos. there is no need to install google camera or motorola camera. hope it will be help for you and others.

Hello XDA!
Im sorry for this thread, but Im little out of loop, wanted to know few things. Because my phone now is 2years old and there is no more warranty, I wanna add custom rom and root. Regarding this, I got question.
After installing new rom, I still want to use my corporate e-mail. As far as Im informed, that e-mail app will not start, if it detects, that a phone is rooted. Is there a way to hide root status, so that app can start? (I think endomondo or spotify also had that ****ty "protection" against root).
There's an xposed module that can do that
The name of the module is RootCloak
You can add apps to a list and root will be completely hidden for these apps
Does xposed work on android 6.xxx ? If I remember correctly, there were problems with android 5 at begginging of it.
I have a samsung Galaxy s5 neo with android 6.0.1 and it works for me. Not all modules are supported but a lot of modules work
Hi guys,
with reference to this interesting thread:
Strategic Alliance: bundle F-Droid, add LineageOS repository, add microG
I think that LineageOS may effectively be the reference Android ROM for people looking for privacy and timely updates (which implies more security).
In this view, it would be extremely convenient to have a working instance of microG on LineageOS, as it would add the convenience of gapps without the need to sell you soul to Google.
The only practical option to have a working instance of microG in CM/LineageOS is using an Xposed module which spoof the signature of microG. The alternative is recompiling CM/LineageOS from scratch by patching it "by hand" before. While viable, these two solutions are far from convenient, as the former depends on Xposed (which is not available for Nougat at the moment, and nobody can really tell if it will ever be) and the second... Well, in my understanding it requires a fair share of knowledge and also computing power and it is probably impractical from the point of view of view of the end user.
My question here is:
given that LineageOS will ship a separate ZIP to allow root to be enabled for apps, would it be technically possible for LineageOS developers to create (and ship ) also a separate zip to enable signature spoofing for people knowing what they are doing?
In my "vision" this could only add a permission that would have still to be manually enabled only for selected apps (microg, specifically).
In the end, only people really interested in microg would manually install the "spoofing" zip. And in this cases it would not pose any additional security risk (if you consider that enabling root may be already dangerous enough).
Let me emphatize that I don't know if this is technically feasible, nor if the developers would ever accept to do that. But in my opinion this should at least be discussed.
Thanks for reading and have a nice day!
E.

I really really like this idea! It is important to give users an easy way to get rid of the intrusiveness of google, if they want to. It's a matter of freedom of choice.
More and more people are scared about (or simply don't like) mass collection of personal data, it would be nice if Lineage OS could give to these people an alternative!

Installing microG is not a problem. Another user, @wdevil12 , already create an AROMA zip to install microG.
The problem is that microG NEEDS the signature spoofing to be available (it needs that so apps "think" that it is the "real" Google Play Services).
CM/LineageOS never wanted to build this option in the ROM, so one has to rely on Xposed or make one's own build by patching the sources.
Having a flashable zip enabling spoofing signature directly from LineageOS developers would be a huge leap forward and could impulse the use of microG (which, in my opinion, is the best thing happened to Android in years).
My 2 cents.

I share your enthusiasm and also your frustration.
Here's the thing. Enabling signature spoofing is a patch, so you apply it before building the image. This means a zip would have to provide a drop-in replacement for the files affected by the patch, in this case I believe it's only 1 file: framework.jar. I have no idea how often framework.jar changes, but it would be useful to know – the more often it changes, the more often the zip will have to be updated and distributed again, and the less probable it is that someone will want to do that job.
So here is an approach I was thinking of:
1. Extend the microG patch to not blindly disable signature spoofing, but instead disable it conditionally when a certain flag is enabled in the settings (disabled by default, obviously). Don't provide any UI, just that test in the code.
2. Include that patch in mainstream LineageOS (and other ROMs). By default it's a no-op, so that's completely harmless. This is the key point.
3. Provide a zip (OP's idea) that surfaces the modification of that flag through a "Disable signature spoofing" option in the Developer Settings.
Ideally, 3 would also be baked into mainstream LineageOS, since Developer Settings are already fairly opt-in. However, in light of what happened recently to root access, I'm assuming 3 would have to follow the same approach and live as an external zip too, which is fair enough and would still represent a huge step forward, as OP pointed out.
Thoughts?
Official answer:
We will not be enabling signature spoofing. It's a huge security hole, and breaking android's security model (for any reason) is never acceptable.
Feel free to build it yourself (it is open source) if this is a feature you want, or use one of the plethora of other roms people have generated. Our main goal is to continue passing CTS and have a production-shippable OS available for anyone who wants to use it.
@elirada
I like the idea and, frankly, I'm less concerned about the method to achieve it than on actually having signature spoofing.
Unluckily, as you can see, the official response is "No, never". Now, while I'm grateful to LineageOS developers for their hard work, I feel that their position on this point is plainly wrong. Allowing root is a bigger security issue than allowing on-demand signature spoofing for *one single* app, which would offer much more privacy to LineageOS users.

As zifnab said, we most certainly will not open up security holes like this. It would be an incredible disservice to our users.
Opening attack vectors such as this on millions of devices is "plainly wrong" as you put it.
But hey, its OSS, so fork and do it yourself! :good:

What disservice? You clearly didn't read the OP. One should voluntarily flash a zip and then explicitly enable the feature. It's not something that would happen by chance and would be an explicit choice of each user. And frankly, while I certainly may learn how to get the source and compile it, I (and most people willing to use microG) have not the hardware resources and the time to compile each build. To call this solution impractical would be an euphemism.

Even if its something we'd remotely consider, its not as simple as providing a zip with a su binary in it like the root addon. This stuff is in framework which makes it a lot more difficult to supply a "bolt on" zip to do this.
Here's the patch when it was put on gerrit. You can read the comments to see the stance and reasoning on it.
It's something that will not ever be accepted in this project.
hey guys, thanks for this discussion.
i easily patched the first lineageos-build (kenzo device) with tingle. this was possible because "pre-optimization" wasnt yet enabled when built. patching took only 1 minute.
would it be possible to make any second build (or once a month) without this "pre optimization"-flag?
This way security isnt touched and everyone who wants could easily patch it himself!
We will not shipped compromised builds. It doesn't matter about how much you think it convenient...we are trusted to keep users safe.
The moment you have to use the words "spoof", "make the system think it's something else" or anything if that nature, you are lying to the system about an app, which will compromise thebuser's trust in the system.
If you think for one second that "experienced people who know what they are doing" would be the only ones to flash whatever the heck is available, you have not been on this forum or working with Android for very long.
If you "are experienced and know what you are doing", build it yourself. That's the safest bet against users not harming themselves with our stamp (release-keys) on it.
tl;dr: Nope. Not even once.

Fair enough. Signature verification is clearly an important component of Android's security model.
I think one should never have to choose between security and convenience. Give users the choice for long enough and they'll end up falling for the latter. The minute someone provides a poorly crafted yet job-doing image, everybody will start using it. The "I won't solve your problem" answer, rather than help people, will end up pushing them into randomness.
As someone mentioned, maybe there would be a way to allow the overriding of signature checking only for a given app, in favor of another given app? This is very from just disabling the whole thing, yet would let microG work.
That idea is just an arbitrary suggestion. Generally my point is that people are expressing a use case to solve and if nobody cares they will end up doing something silly,
eli
Hi, I've finally manage to enable signature spoofing using tingle. The procedure is straightforward and very easy to follow (download script, make sure you have all needed programs, connect to rooted phone, execute the script, boom - done).
After that I was able to install microg and with Mozilla location backend it's working very well. So currently I'm running lineageos without gapps on oneplus 3t and can install apps from play store.
If any of you want I can write short instruction but all needed information can be found easily.
@alkesander
Is the patch only for LineageOS? Need patch for OxygenOS 4.0.3.

I'm wondering why no one pointed to microG Signature Spoofing and its Security Implications before.
Interesting, glad I found this thread, that link, and the responses from CM/Lineage devs. Seems pretty clear that user privacy is not a priority, probably been the case since that Microsoft money started flowing in 2015..
Time to start looking elsewhere I guess
Hello
I've read around this a lot here and elsewhere and I can't seem to get a definitive answer as to the best solution to the root I'd like. I would like to use TiBu and play PokemonGO (and perhaps use the Barclays UK banking app). It looked like Magisk was the way to do this with Nougat 7.0. This video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjwSjiE76o8
Which is also shown here in a series of screenshots:
http://galaxys7root.com/galaxy-s7-s...s7-or-s7-edge-on-android-7-0-nougat-w-magisk/
...would seem to do what I want. But I expect I would use updated versions of Magisk etc.
I can see threads on here that would indicate that Magisk is now not able to help you pass safetynet with a rooted phone but I think that may be for updated versions of Android and 7.0 may still be OK.
Can anyone confirm that the rooting method shown here is sensible. Or, failing that, the best way to achieve what I want with a currently stock G930FD running 7.0?
Thanks
Maqgisk does by pass safetynet.
Magisk has it own root now built in.

Thanks! That's the kind of definitive answer I was looking for.
Btw, which Android version are you on? I have an update available that I can download but not sure I should. As I said, I'm on 7.0 so not sure what I'd end up on if I updated.
As I like TouchWiz but would like to reduce the bloat, I am tempted by the Superman ROM, which makes the update point moot.

Do you have any idea which one I'm supposed to use for North America?
So to clarify, can the EU ROM be loaded onto a Chinese device without issues?

Use the ones from NON-EU
You should be on 308
You can move to 309, 310 or 311
40 hrs to Download? WOW. I bet it gets corrupt before it completes.

I'm working on downloading just one. As another member stated it's telling me 24 hours to download that's insane.

Hello, and for China rom can we install the eu rom?
I don't think anyone knows. Try it?

Should we download from the oldest version to the newest one ? Or directly the lastest one ?
Question 2: Can we expect an OTA update or on the global version we have to do it on our own ?

Please don't try it.
There is a procedure you can use to change to BlackMagic ROM (which is basically CN)
Disclaimer! Blackmagic is the work of a kernel developer @MattOftheDead
BLACK MAGIC ROM 5G BETA2 HAS ARRIVED!!!! https://mega.nz/file/r9hF2BwS#RrAXiFWSBNX8dLqfrH8nNHo_uigPC8uYXonwhALhGbo -> It even has Google Backup setup after flashing For this release you NEED CN2.52 installed : https://mega.nz/file/aoxBFAqY#EDt2OZBGTME4ZGKnERKpK_t-aJT_rWgD0aqBFkilRcY FACTORY METHOD HIGHLY SUGGESTED!
USE THE UPDATED TWRP ROOT GUIDE BRICK RESTORE: https://mega.nz/file/igphSCTD#OybJo9t1zwvJ0bdbAcN2BCqxWXAfHdhk3JFB4_5xkVc
Black Magic 5g has been reduced to a package that only contains 1.9GB. Video recording works now, you'll notice it's designed a bit different - some good stuff in the Tools folder hiding away that devs will use. Some factory Nubia apps that do a great job managing memory are present as well, find duplicate files, scan for viruses, etc. Accelerate is one of them, it will clear the memory. Everything else is WIPED, completely debloated and uninstalled, and replaced with a Google app. Even the Clock is from Google. If it could not be deinstalled, Package Disabler blocks the app. No Nubia bloat.remains. I only left nubia.bbs as it carries the latest releases in Chinese first - Google Translate is installed, you will be able to read it, no matter the language. If an app does not let you Translate directly, you have Google Lens which can be accessed in Google Photos. A square icon will highlight text, then you can select More or .. and choose Translate. It will generate a translated message for you from the screen shot. Lens also has this feature just pointing at text with the camera. Lit Photo picture compressor is included so you can trim down pictures you take small enough for emails; a casting app Web Video Cast works outside of China has been added to stream any video from your phone over WiFi to a TV or monitor. Tested it out on my Samsung Smart TV, and it worked great. You just select the connected device on your Wifi, download an app to that device you want to stream to, and type a website URL to stream from to your TV or PC in Web Video Cast. YouTube Vanced is also installed with MicroG so you can use your Google account and not have any ads at all, still watching your favorite items or subjects from earlier. I patched NETFLIX to display HDR10(+) with LuckyPatcher so you get better resolution than the stock Widevine L3 standard allows (the app will say SD video, but playback has been confirmed via streaming at 4K). VLC video player is included which can handle many video formats. 1Weather is a favorite app of mine and it shows live weather forecasts for the week through a widget on the home page. Also, there is a Chrome search bar with a Google Assistant icon on the right, Google Feed icon left side. Google Maps. APK Mirror is installed and the SAI Split Archive Installer app. ZipArchiver. Magisk Manager is installed with several Magisk modules, one for Migrate Backup. Swift Backup app also. Root browser. TurboEdit can edit root files. SmartPack Kernel Manager includes a flasher (TWRP flash inside OS). Device Info app is included which gives all specs. An HD screen recorder and mic recorder are included. Telegram X app. Also Google Voice, Google Keep (Notes) , & Google Calendar widget for the month. @The suit may have an NFC Voodoo fix someone please try it while I RMA my device!!!!

LOL. How?
Guys, it is slow because it seems the files are still being uploaded.
Please give some time (maybe 2 hours) and then try again.
Cheers!
Can someone pls mirror it on Mega or Google drive once they get it. I was at 60% and it reset!

For those asking, these ROMs are global (as of now).
If you're on European ROM (4.0.X) , you should download from FOR EU
If you're on US/NA ROM (3.0.X), you should download from NON-EU
Updates will follow as new ROMs are released.

The EU & NON-EU (US/NA) links are official as you can see they're hosted on Nubia servers.
The Blackmagic is unofficial CN
