Unrecognized system...unable to update - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Phone is a SM-N910R4 US Cellular. Was rooted by Odin then unrooted by King root. Now unable to root using Odin and current non root is unrecognized and unable to update system. Any ideas on how I can either get system updated and/or rooted again ? Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thx in advance !

try with Smart switch,it will recognized your phone ,and tell you if you have or not have update for your phone.
I also have problem with root and dm-verify verification failed in recovery ,so I couldn't update my phone OTA ,but I was having update OTA,I was downloading and trying to install it and every time its failed until I didn't install SMART SWITCH,and easily update phone to latest firmware.
which method of rooting your phone you trying to root?
I was having problem with magisk, and every time I failed to root,so I use superSu , superSu cf auto root.
for rooting phone:
I was first install through Odin TWRP for my model
then download superSu-v2.82-201705271822.zip
put that file on my SD card and download to TWRP recovery
then flash that file through install in recovery
and you have rooted phone.
works for me so perfectly that i dont have one problem with rooting.
the second way:
its also through Odin
download Cf-auto root and flash it through Odin
than you can easily download from play store Official TWRP app and install recovery.
for me,this is the best and easy way of rooting phones.

Problem with root/ supersu

Hello Friends,
I just updated to 4.4.2 with Odin
then flashed CF Auto root with Odin
The result is: "There is no binary installed and SuperSU can not install it. This is a problem...".
I flashed TWRP already, but I have no idea how to update/install the binary in order to get proper root access
Can somebody help me please?

Get philz touch recovery. It has an option to reroot (install su binary) option in it
Sent from my GT-I9500 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I solved the problem.
I figured out that I used an older version of CF Auto Root which (I guess) contained an older version of SuperSU. I assume that this version had an outdated binary.
Downloaded CF Auto Root again, flashed it with Odin and everything is fine.
Thanks for your help, guys!

is there a risk of bricking phone (odin) ? (Samsung Galaxy s3 neo GT-I9301I) - root

Hi guys, i was thinking of rooting my phone with odin but i'm afraid i might brick it ( CF-Auto-Root )
so.. is there any one who used odin and it worked with him without bricking his phone ?
oh and i forgot to mention that i have android 4.4.2 kitkat
because when i use the normal way to download supersu and install it i get
-----
"There is no binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!"
"if you just upgraded to android 4.3, you need manually re-root consult the relevant forums for you device!"
edit:
i rooted my device with odin and there was no problem

Download SuperSU via this link: http://download.chainfire.eu/641/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.40.zip and flash it with your custom recovery.

[Q] Odin fails everytime i try something?

just just upgraded to lollipop and want to re root and flash custom recovery ( twrp ) but everytime i try and use odin everything i do fails, have tried many different methods, s5 lollipop g900w. Anyone able to help me out??
You running ODIN as Admin? Got Samsung drivers installed? In download mode?
CF Auto Root & ODIN works to root for me
Then TWRP manager from the Play Store to flash TWRP recovery

Root Galaxy S5 G900D (SC-04f) Android 5.0 (WOEA)

I managed root access , and successfully used root . But it stoped working for some unknown reason after 1/1.30hour of root ...Anyone willing to take risk can try it. & share if something better happens . I mean if can manage root access permanently .
What I did was
- upgraded to lollipop 5.0 (WOEA) using Odin 3.10
- flashed twrp 2.8.6.0 via Odin . ( this version is not working but it kills the stock recovery )
- then flashed twrp 2.8.5.0 via Odin . ( this version works on 4.4.2 & on 5.0 also . but stock recovery replaces it during the first boot as a result it is not usable . but I killed stock recovery by flashing twrp 2.8.6.0 . In this case it worked . & I was able to boot into twrp recovery )
- Installed updated SuperSU v2.46 zip via twrp 2.8.6.0
After doing those there was super user app in the app drawer & root checker also confirmed root access.
But as I said before , root access stopped working properly after a while...
Edit : CF-auto root for SC-04f VNF9 firmware is working on WOEA firmware . I recenty flashed it . Though Xmod is not working but other root apps (like titanium backup , greenify etc. ) are working nice .

Does it work properly and there is no other risk implied ?
Can you please specify the steps you used to root the phone and provide links if possible.
Thank you a lot !!!

The steps I took at the first time was bit risky . :silly: And root was working good till I rebooted the device & performed a factory reset. After that root wasn't working properly.
Now I am using root access again . Root checker showing root access & using Greenify , Titanium backup etc. This time I rooted using CF-auto root for SC-04f VNF9 firmware. Instructions are on the website below....
CF-auto root page: https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/
XDA Thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2696537
Though this method is for SC04FOMU1VNF9 firmware (android 4.4.2) But it is working on SC04FOMU1WOEA firmware (android 5.0)
I also used factory reset option twice after rooting using CF-auto root. Still using root & haven't found any problems.
I haven't made this , so can't guaranty anything. Try at your own risk. But I think there won't be any problem if you follow the instructions properly.
little problem, different outcome
Hey Sunbir Ahammed,
Thanks for sharing your trial and errors. I'm in the same boat you were in. I had a very small instance of root success, then for some reason or other I lost it. My first attempt was with CF-auto root using Oden 3.10. It worked for a very short amount of time (Root Checker did verify). Gave it one restart and haven't been able to get root since. I even went back and tried your original TWRP methods. No dice.
SuperSu is installed after CF-auto root, but isn't usable since the root wasn't successful.
I have a feeling it is related to the stock recovery but not sure. I'm new to the root game and could use some pointers. Any ideas?
Here's the details on the device:
Galaxy S5 (SC-04F)
carrier: NTT Docomo
android 5.0 Lollipop

Hello friend,
Well, there is good news. Finally CF Auto Root has been released for a new firmware version.
CF Auto Root now supports SC04FOMU1WOJ1 firmware (the latest one available at both Samsung Kies and sammobile.com)
Here is the link for the latest firmware
And here the CF auto Root link
After upgrading the latest firmware using OTA or Samsung Kies or Odin you just need to flash the CF auto root file using Odin
Here is the detail instruction from CF auto root's website
and here is the XDA thread on CF auto root.
I have flash it just now. And will update if any common issue is found while using.
Hope this helps.

Galaxy S4- How Do I Update From 4.4.2 To 5.0?

Update from 4.4.2
Hi all,
I'm stuck on 4.4.2 right now, but i want to update to 5.0.
Anyone who can give me a tutorial?
I have no SD card.
Connect to a good wifi, go into settings and there should be an "Software update" option somewhere, if you are on stock rom.
Do this,go to sammobile, download firmware 5.0.1 for your mobile and install with Odin program, that is all .
Yes if can't update from ota, download firmware from sammobile and flash via odin . .
I forgot to mention, that i have rooted my phone using CF-autoroot
It doesnt matter, you can flash your official firmware via Odin whenever you want. Just download the firmware from sammobile.com and flash it. Thats all. In addition if you want to use a custom rom you can choose a 5.x.x version of it and flash it via TWRP recovery. It is your choise.
Okay i've followed THIS tutorial, but now it asks for some root issues.
"Root access possibly lost. Fix?"
"THIS CAN NOT BE UNDONE"
"- No"
"- Yes - fix root (/system/xbin/su)"
I want to keep my root
I am quite stuck untill someone tells me how to keep my root.
I am using CWM.
