Hello all,
Recently bought a Galaxy J5 2017 [model SM-J530FZDAXEF] for my girlfriend.
After not even a month she dropped it and screen had to be replaced.
Everything was good again.
Now (~1 month later), sometimes the phone doesn't wake up immediatly, power button presses and fingerprint reader presses doesn't wake him up.
You have to wait a bit and it works
She now tells me that the fingerprint button doesn't react immediatly either!
I didn't try to factory reset.
Is this a common problem ? Is there any known workaround ?
2 Solutions for you.
Apparently the problem is not from hardware; it is actually a bug in the system.
I had the problem and here is what I came up with:
If you have a Damaged SD card inside the phone, you should be removing it cause it slows down the phone (especially lock screen)
Enable developers options within the settings and set the all animations to 0.5x
That's it! Good luck.
Actually that happened to me too in a j7 2017 and fortunately its not the hardware but I have already used 0.5x animtions since in the start

I have a Sprint Touch [Vogue]. It has served me very well up until recently.
One day, I was using my phone normally when the battery died. No big deal right?
Well, I charge my phone and reboot it. For some reason, Windows is EXTREMELY slow and unresponsive. I figure that something vital had been corrupted by the battery's death, and that it was nothing that a hard reset couldn't fix.
I performed a hard reset.
I let the utilities for the first boot run to customize the phone. Everything seemed pretty much normal. I configured my settings, re-added my contacts, etc. Then I turned the screen off [with the power button].
I turn it back on later to do something. I touch the screen. It immediately and accurately detects the touch's location, but it continues detecting a touch. For 20-30 seconds, after the input has stopped.
It was strange, so I soft reset the device. It booted, with the same problem. So I performed another hard reset. I did some configuration [the response acting normal at this point], and then turned the screen off. Turning it back on brought the same problem back.
This problem still exists on my phone, even after numerous hard resets and even ROM flashes.
A better description of the problem: When the device is first turned back on [meaning brought out of standby], its touch response is messed up. It will immediately and accurately detect any touch input, but it will continue to detect the input for up to 30 seconds AFTER it has been released, as if you were holding it the whole time.
WHY is this???? My phone is almost unusable because of this!!!! I can still place/ receive calls, using the navigation buttons and the red and green buttons. But the touch response is screwed!
Can someone please shed some light on this problem I'm having?
Phone specs: Windows Mobile 6.1, HTC / Sprint customized. Minimal third party software is currently installed.
[I've already determined that third party software is not the problem, because i haven't installed any!]
Possible solution
Hi,
today I experienced something similar to your description - no touch response when I tried to pickup a call. The strange thing is that last night everything was working and no settings were modified nor programs were added/removed. The screen suddenly 'died'. At the moment I am using it through a program MyMobiler which brings the mobile display to the PC and I can use the mouse to control the phone (it is like VNC for the phone screen, the phone is connected with ActiveSync).
This is temporary solution untill I finish my backups of files, programs, settings. I didnot performed hard reset yet, hope this will solve my problem
In the following link there is a 'magical' solution - to remove the screen protector:
http://www.htcwiki.com/thread/1112981/LCD+or+Touch+screen+not+working
P.S. I had removed the screen protector and voilá - the screen is now touch responsive. The root cause of the problem obviously is the dust between the screen and the protector which results in constant screen pressing - and as a result no accepting my finger presses.
I hope this will work for you and others with similar problem.
I had a similar experience with an old Vogue.....In my case, there was no battery death precursor, but it just started acting up. Not too long thereafter, I noticed the screen/digitizer was forming what looked like an air bubble between the digitizer and the LCD on one place of the screen. The screen was becoming defective. I eventually had to buy another Vogue from a friend who didn't have a clue of the 6900's potential, and didn't want his anymore, so I got it cheap.
Sounds like your screen/digitizer may be on it's last leg.
My LG Optimus 7 touchscreen stopped to response with no reason. Nothing was installed or damaged - one minute I called and after turn off and on it stopped to respond. Well - not really stopped but respond in strange way not allowing me to unlock (swipe) lock screen:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOb54qugw-A
(I took this video after Factory Reset which did not help - that's why it's in German)
And even if I reboot it, no buttons tapping is working, nothing - only this strange unlock screen which moves really slowly and not allowing to unlock.
I ordered and replaced digitiser (dismounted all telephone myself) and this did not help at all.
But I realised yesterday that if I leave my LG with screen open for 2-3 minutes IT STARTS WORKING!! It reacts on touch as it was before! No idea why and how. Unfortunately it goes into unresponsive mode after turning screen off and on, and I have to wait again. So it's useless...
I tried to google and I found few other people experiencing the same issue with different telephones (or tablets). Does it mean it's hardware issue? Is there any point to downgrage ROM - at the moment it's 7.10.8862.144??

Hi i have problem with my s5 display, it starts going crazy like scrolling up constantly, when i use it and then switch the power button to shut thr display the phone does not power back up unless i remove battery, otherwise the two button lights only show.
Prior to this problem, it started when my mic at the bottom stopped working, and then the pinnacle point was when i unrooted my s5 and rebooted, immediately the colors turned to different tints of colours.
The next day it started going all fuzzy and scrolling up.
Took it to samsung but waa refused as i found out about the knox counter lol

I don't know what to do with my new S7 edge. Very often screen without any reason freezes and is not responsive to any touch while hardware buttons work as they should. Is it software of hardware problem? Maybe I bought faulty unit? Please help.
If you have USB debugging on, try to turn it off and restart. I was doing the adoptable storage thing and I noticed my device got slower after turning on USB debugging, specially when using the hardware buttons to do something.
Try without sdcard.
Hi,
I change for the second s7 edge and does the same issue, does anyone have the same problem
Here it is the video
https://youtu.be/lHan4r-RHTY
OP I have the same issue with my phone and with my previous E7. The screen becomes unresponsive 5-10 times a day and I have to turn the screen off and back on to fix it.
My wife's S7E doesn't ever and it's driving me insane.
Sent from my SM-G935T using XDA-Developers mobile app
I know what the problem is, is when to much things touch at the same time on the screen, then stays crazy.
Try with the phone unlock
Ex you have a t-shirt and you want to clean the screen and you press it in to your skin, does all the time, is the same thing when we put in the pocket unlock,
But this is really a problem, my other phones don't do this.
Did you end up getting your phone replaced? I've been having this issue with increasing severity so I've been thinking of getting it replaced. This definitely seems like a hardware issue, perhaps to do with the drive the os is stored on?
my s7 edge had strange freezing when i tried to open an app , the screen suddenly turned green and had graphical issues.
but after 1 day the colors returned to normal state , but there 2 things , first the phone takes too long to start AND freeze for about 3 mins at the samsung galaxy logo
after it starts the touch is Not responding in any way , i even made hard factory reset but it just the same thing ..How i can fix this issue ? is it hardware or software issue (note that the physical buttons works ok , its just the touch that is not responding ) the phone is out of warranty it expired , im asking if i may be able to fix it ? appreciate any help
Do a custom rom..
