HELP WITH ROOTING PLEASE!!! SM-G930P Boost Mobile - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

Can someone please point me in the right direction on which instructions to follow in rooting my Samsung Galaxy s7 SM-g930p from boost mobile. It has Android 8.0 installed and all the ota updates are installed. My baseband, bootloader version says G930PVPU7CRG3 . I really had no idea there was so many different versions of this phone. Not to mention the Edge version. For some reason Odin will not let me flash anything keeps saying SW REV CHECK FAIL [ABOOT] FUSED 7 > BINARY 2 AND eMMC write failed: aboot. Ive been trying to read threw all these posts but I think its getting me more confused. Is this phone the one with the locked bootloader you guys are talking about? I just need to know which direction to go in rooting this boost mobile phone please. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH for your time.
In download mode it says AP SWREV b7 (2,1,1,1,1) k2 s6

There is no way currently to root SM-G930P with bootloader v7
if you were on bootloader v6 then this method worked https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-s7-edge/how-to/root-s7-s7edge-oreo-nougat-t3819616

damnnn thank you so much for the reply...saves me a headache from reading threw everything lol...how can you tell the bootloader is v7? damn that sucks the bootloader must have updated when I installed the ota updates after ordering the phone

the only reason I wanted the phone rooted was so I could edit the apn settings in order to unlock the hotspot on the phone. boost mobile still locks it if you on the 3$/daily plan

You mentioned above your device PDA which is "G930PVPU7CRG3" the number 7 after PU shows the bootloader version.
and you can edit APN settings if you have your MSL code by simply dialing ##DATA# which is ( ##3282# )

Would i call boost mobile to get that msl or sprint? I was reading with the updated oreo s7 sprint blocked the ##3282# menu, even with the msl number. ...wish there was a way to get that number without calling them.

Yea i got the msl number the apn settings are still locked to where u cant edit nothing but the name and the ip/4, ip/6 option... any other ways to access the apn ? Wont even let u add a new apn

Try this method?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/how-to/guide-enable-hotspot-t3675986

Yes although i didnt try the dialer code ##brand# because my wife didnt want to factory reset her phone again. But with shortcut master when i go to app explorer there's no app listed com.test.ltefunctionality, I looked through the list pretty good double checked. That ADB bypass method they're mentioning on that link you gave me do you think that would work or is that for older versions?

Does mentioned root solution work with g930pvps5bqk1 ?

I assume my would be version 5 boot loader. I was not able to find any root solutions with this version. Any thoughts appreciated.

same issue here. except that my friend and I made a dummy account in Google, then we reset the phone. now we are FRP locked out...
So now I have to remember the email at least. It was something with crocs and 4 numbers...
Also, logging in to his older account which he had put on this phone at one point does not work.
Sorry this post is not helpful, I`m kind of venting...

SPRINT (SMG900P) WORKING!!! sim unlock work around

Hello,
I have managed to unlock my SM900P (Sprint Galaxy S5) to use my Verizon sim. I only have 3G capabilities at the moment, unless someone knows how to activate the 4G or LTE. I will post what I did to get my Verizon sim to work. The phone is rooted and has the MOAR rom installed.
Here are the tools that I used (AND BIG THANKS to all the developers that helped)
BusyBox Free
SuperSu
Shortcut Master
Please be patient with me. I am about to go through my phone and post the settings I made step by step.

Hmm didnt see that your right. I have to see this, my GS5 has been sitting here with a bad esn due to early termination from the previous owner and honestly I dont use it like I use my LG G2 because of that.
UPDATE
Still tracking down what triggers the SHA256 to turn off so that it would read my sim. I did place my sim back into my GSIII so I can have service in the mean time but my sim is locked to 3G. Something happened to the sim when fiddling around with the settings on the S5.
For those who want to play around and see if they can find the trigger all you have to do is have: Root, SuperSU, BusyBox, and Shortcut Master Lite installed. Allow Shortcut Master root privileges and click menu Secret Code Explorer and go through the codes one by one.
Like I said im still trying to find out what exactly triggered the SHA256 to turn off.
I see there are some skeptics posting comments, just feel free to post a different unlock method if your not happy with waiting on this one!

Hey,
I did not have to enter any unlock codes or NY codes for that matter. I just went thru each code, opened it up and see what is had to offer and see what I could change.

Hey,
I posted this topic a week or so ago with the same problem. We're somewhat on to something... we just need someone with a working phone to get the firmware by using their IMEI number in SmartSwitch. If you know anyone else who has the phone, it'd be awesome if you can ask them give that a go.

Wait no don't do that !! It won't work people have already tried don't even try bro !
I have created a solution!
I have a fix to get the SM-G530T1 [Galaxy Grand Prime - MetroPCS] working after a soft brick. Back up and running making/receiving calls/texts, but Wi-Fi is not working and my device starts off in recovery. Still need to test out everything else though. Also, the settings say Galaxy Core Prime now meaning everything in the ABOUT DEVICE section will be altered until we have a firmware for our device to download. I used TrapKernel from ShinySide, the provided TWRP for the SM-G530H, and some files from both firmwares of the SM-G360T1 and SM-G530T devices.
Anyway, using ODIN, put the .tar file in the AP slot and flash your phone...GOOD LUCK!
Sorry, I am still too new to post external links. Contact me through other means and I will provide the file until I am allowed to share it here on XDA.

Well there is easy way to root the phone it takes like 5 mins. It is free and stress free, what I did was use kingroot. Now the most people are not doing there homework, so they end up FRP locking there mobile device. Shame on you nubs, don't skip corners. See the (FRP) factory reset protection is google's doing. They make it harder for would be phone thefts. In the same sequence they made it almost so easy to brick your mobile device. By rooting your phone through kingroot, your mobile device will work until you reboot it. Once you reboot it, you trigger the (FRP) lock and then you are stuck with a bricked device. Now (FRP) lock is on every android 5.0 OP system and higher. What they don't tell you is that when you reboot and or factory reset your device. It automaticlly trips it. If you call samsung they will tell you bring it to best buy and they will help you. This is not true samsung can't do anything cause google is the one behind the (FRP) lock. Now google will ask you to wait 72 hours. Which is also wrong, smart switch, kiers, odin ,nothing will help you. The trick is simple, understanding the (FRP) lock is key. Disable the lock by deleting your google account. Now you might ask your self if i disable my google account how will I download the king root app. That is why first and for most, you download the app and run it. Once you rooted your phone use one of the hundreds of root verify apps to make sure your device is rooted. Now DON'T reboot your phone! Go to you account and delete your google account ,failing to do this will trigger (FRP) lock. Once the google account is deleted, reboot your phone. Now when the phone restarts you will have a rooted phone . Sign back in to google and you will be ready to go. Keep in mind also, I have seen countless people not even trying to root there phone have the same issues with the all black screen (FRP) lock. Just cause they factor rested there device, this will also trigger the lock. So keep that in mind anytime you want to factory reset sign out of google account before you do or same thing will happened, and once it locks your screwed. Now also keep in mind if you rooted your phone and you experienced a (FRP) lock at the moment. You are holding on to a bricked mobile device cause by rooting your phone you killed your warranty. That suck's but for all you nubs out there stop cutting corners do your home work, or pay the price.

Stuck at RECOVERY IS NOT SEANROID ENFORCING

So I've decided to root my phone w/ this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2696537

RECOVERY BOOTING
RECOVERY IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING

I have the 900F model w/ Lollipop installed. Don't know what to do atm and i really need some help now since i also can't boot into android.
I'm also planning to just go back to stock again like real stock since i'm also planning to sell the phone. What should i do?
Flash a stock ROM from sammobile .com
Cid bootloader unlock
Technically before you can really having fun flashing compatible ports and roms, you ABSOLUTELY have to use "beaups" sm-g900v bootloader unlock. Before you even attempt this however be sure to talk to devolopers aka someone who knows a bit more than I do. I know you have to match CID numbers, samsung verizon CID begins with 15 so this exploit works for my SM-G900V. "adb - devices" should show you some of your CID check out this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...t/rd-unlocking-galaxys-s5-bootloader-t3337909

First, take out the battery. While it is out, look around the panels and write down your exact model and exact serial number of your device. Should look something like this:
Model - SM-G900F
S/N - RF2G40TB8SM
Put the battery back in and boot to Download mode by holding the Power, Home and Vol DOWN keys, and when it boots press the Vol UP. Connect the phone to your computer.
Then download the official Samsung Kies 3, if you haven't, and open it up. Go to Tools menu, and click on Firmware Upgrade and Initialization. In the next window enter your Model, then your S/N and after a couple more buttons, Kies will begin downloading the official stock rom for your exact device.
It's kinda big, like 2 gigs or more, so have that in mind if you're on a metered connection.
After it's downloaded, Kies will then transfer the rom on your phone and install it. And that's it.
You don't have to do anything during the entire process, and now you have a pure stock rom with stock recovery.
EMMC has to begin with 15 or the CID if it has an 11 in front of it then this bootloader unlock won't work, I've hard bricked once (but got it back, thank god for sdcards) in the past had to learn the hard way.

The exploit may work for models other than g900v but it isn't needed for the other models because they come bootloader unlocked.

Isn't the reason that "Android not SEandroid enforcing, warranty bit is being triggered?" a true unlocked bootloader would ignore SE policies all together right? Or do all stock roms need to be SEandroid enforcing? I always found that part a little confusing, as I understand it is all related to KNOX right?

Not sure on that, I think it has to do with the kernel.

If g930pvps4apk1 is the latest Sprint firmware, can I root?

Hopefully I haven't trashed my phone. I tried doing one of the root methods and now my phone is stuck. Running the factory refresh does nothing but kick me back into the boot loader. And when I try to install any firmware I get an error "Complete(Write) operation failed" in Odin (I have tried a couple different versions) and I get an error on the phone also "SW REV CHECK FAIL : [system]Fused 3> Binary 2"
I am hoping that if I install the latest firmware PK1, if it ever finishes downloading, that it will un-brick my phone.
Is there anything else I can do to prepare my phone for this. Will reinstalling the latest firmware fix those write and SW REV check errors.
I finally downloaded g930pvps4apk1 and when I try to install it I am getting the same errors, Odin = Write failed, phone = sw rev check fail : system Fused 3 > binary 1

where did you get it from please give a lik i need this firmware
I'll check my history when i get to a PC tomorrow. But if you Google that firmware you will find it. It is the main place where most of the firmware comes from originally. Samdriver, or something like that. It will take about 3 hours though. I finally got it to flash from a different computer with the latest ODIN.

If I am doing this right. The files I used are here: https://1drv.ms/f/s!Ajoev1AT6kpmnJ1lGGcfwfq3JDwymQ
I'm assuming you have all the other required files. Samsung USB drivers installed, ADB installed...
I'll leave that link up for a few days.
These are the latest updates for my Samsung S7 from Sprint as of 2016/12/23.
I only flashed the AP, CP and CSC file, based on the following info I found in the forums.
Why I chose the CSC file.
CSC -> there's a PIT inside and will wipe your device
HOME_CSC -> the data should stay on your device
And I didn't flash the BL file based on the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...msung-galaxy-s7-sm-g930p-root-xposed-t3503599
thanks a lot,!!!
I just got an unlocked Sprint S7 for my wife to use in TMO and it came with this firmware. OP please share your finding on getting it rooted. thanks! Id like to flash custom ROM and make it run the best in TMO.

Thanks for the information. I rooted successfully with the link provided. I've done the build prop edits for data but I can't call, receive or send MMS. It won't update prl and profile and my phone number is 000-000-0###. Although I DO have LTE. Any tips? Thanks again

I believe a thread is being made there is a way to root the newest Bootloader and keep calls and text.
Is this a systemless root I can hide with Magisk? My princess would be dissapointed if I stopped taking her out to play Pokemon Go.

Well, I will just have to see if Suhide and Root Switch work. Its not like I want constant root. I just want it long enough to debloat this damn thing. I really wish Sprint hadn't forced me to buy a new phone to get their service. I should have went to T-Mo. Would have costed me the same per month anyway, and I could have kept my nexus.

oh sorry for that. I don't really use mms which is why i didnt recognize that. Though the calls and normal texts work for you right? I'm pretty positive that you just need to input correct settings for that to work somewhere in your APN settings. But I'm not 100% sure. Just play with your apn. I'm glad that they're doing a new thread about this because honestly, after that root and i guess the sim unlock too, it made my phone SUPER SLUGGISH. Let's hope for that thread to come but meanwhile im sticking to this.
i hope this can help

Yeah it was sluggish at first until I flashed the v15 fix. Voice and MMS wouldn't work no matter what, but data stuck. I used the same apn as stock, build prop edits etc.. it was nice finally rooting my s7 considering it was on pk1 when I bought it. No worries I'll wait until nougat unless a fix comes up. This is my first non-nexus phone in 3 years so everything is still new to me.
Edit: that was without the idoneapps sim unlock. I just flashed the engineer boot and ran the root file. might be why I couldn't get voice or data lol

I couldn't find an earlier version of Package Disabler Pro. The newer version don't allow you to disable the 3 packages alright it seems I can't downgrade to PE1 , I'm going to subscribe to this thread just in case something new comes up.

Rooted with new binary, can I install U firmware?

I recently acquired a G935P to repair my old phone that had a bad sim card reader. I used the motherboard from the Sprint phone because i'm not skilled in the ways of micro=soldering items. Come to find out Sprint is particularly difficult because they are the only carrier that has upgraded their S7E's to binary 5. Now I have after various attempts, successfully rooted the phone with no issues, seems to run fine albeit some lag (due to the engboot) but I was inquiring that since I have root can I install the U firmware and how would I go about doing that. Thanks in advance!

As long as the U firmware is binary 5, if it is not, you will get an error in odin.

Yeah found that out, lol....I been trying different variations of firmware/pit/backups/combination firmware to maybe and try to get pass this so I can use this phone with my verizon plan with no success, the closest i've come is to have it rooted accessing the hidden menus and changing different settings any ideas?

Is the phone sim unlocked? You may have to call sprint to get it unlocked first. Until Verizon (or the g935u) gets binary 5, you will be unable to change your firmware, with the exception of the sprint binary 5 firmware.

It was recently unlocked but it consistantly showed the device receiving the signal as roaming, i believe because it was only internationally unlocked? and it did not pick up the 4G bands, only reaching normal 3G speeds and in my attempts to flash the U firmware I somehow managed to undo the procedure :/ I have the MSL code and am contuining with trying different settings to see if I can at least get the phone to accept the SIM card again.

Have you tried to manually add the carrier info? Sometimes when using different roms you have to change where you are connecting to because the rom defaults to another carrier.

Yes sir, I have to access the hidden menu to get into the data profiles but even when i get there, it won't show the APN's set for the device because 'user is not authorized' and when i add the verizon apn information and hit save, it doesn't go through.

And if I may ask, what was the advantage to the U firmware, and am i able to run xposed with binary 5 BRA1? Any details you guys could shoot my way would be great. Thanks!

I believe once you achieve root you should be able to run xposed, i'm not entirely sure on that but from what I understand it's possible. The U firmware is just devoid of any carrier bloat and allows you to run a more pure version of the samsung firmware, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

On older Samsung phones, when the bootloader was upgraded, you could 'odin' the previous firmware. It did this by not flashing certain components of the tar file. For example, you could go from a binary 5 nougat to a binary 4 marshmallow firmware, but the bootloader would still remain on binary 5... however, you just installed the binary 4 firmware.
Not sure if this would let you go to the u firmware, but may let you rollback to a binary 4 firmware. Haven't tried it on my s7 since I'm stuck with sprint until October... so no point at this time.
Is the new Oreo firmware from various cell companies binary 5?

Haven't done it in a while since it was on an older phone, but you use a program called z3x Samsung tool pro. It will allow you to only flash certain aspects of the file. You may or may not be able to cross over from p firmware to u firmware with it.
