Cannot double tap the power button to open camera.
The only option is to double tap the volume off button ONLY WHEN THE PHONE'S SCREEN IS OFF.
This is actually horrible.

Yeah I don't like this either. Double tap the power button under any scenario should bring up the cam. Maybe my 6P conditioned me that way, but it worked very well.

You guys know that you can double tap de volume down button twice to open te camera?

Love the double-tap home button action to open the camera app. I find myself taking more pictures because I can snap a picture so insanely fast. Love it.
Camera app is great!
What can I say about how fast you can open the camera app? The phone comes with the default setting of hitting the home button twice. The camera app launches fairly quickly, not at formula 1 speeds, but fast enough for you to take a quick photo or video. Good job Samsung
The camera launches in under a second: I tried to shoot a stopwatch launched simultaneously with first tap on Home button, and there was 0.96 on the quickest shot I made.

Really fassst
Just a little over 1 second. And that 1 second is actually the camera app's opening animation, so basically you can hit that Shutter button almost instantly as it appears. Its that fast.
Haven't tried burst mode (if there's any), but for Portrait mode, there's slight delay when the phone is saving the image before you can take another shot.
And in NightScape mode, you need to hold the phone for 2-3 seconds before moving away from the subject, and another 2-4 seconds to wait the image saving process. The result really worth the wait, though.
Update: Burst Mode works by holding the Shutter button, and the app will count from 1-10 (within less than 2 seconds) when taking images. After 10 shots, the Burst will automatically stops. In Gallery app, there will be icon denoting that an image is from Burst Mode. When you tap it, you can choose 1 or some or all photos to be saved.

The ability to quick launch the camera from a double tap of the side/power button means you can launch the camera pretty fast and it responds snappily.
You can even use the camera while the phone is closed, using the tiny front screen as a viewfinder. That's novel and fun for selfies but it will only take square 1:1 pictures this way and the little screen is pretty useless, especially as it's a different resolution so makes framing anything other than a portrait impossible.

1.5 seconds from tapping the camera icon to snapping a pic.
Less than a second, it's pretty quick
takes about 10 seconds on my phone... is that normal? I noticed my phone runs much slower than I expected. I had the Moto Z3 Play before and I was happy with its performance. The Moto G power seems very unresponsive for me.
How to set up the Camera to operate without typing in my PIN?

My camera is often slow, depending on the lighting and other variables, but the main problem is that I can't figure out how to put the camera icon on my lockscreen so I do not have to type in my PIN to take a shot. I don't want to set up fingerprint reading. Has this been disabled in Android 10?
Thanks!

I was finally inspired to find the answer. The Moto app shows that you can turn on the camera on the lock screen with a gesture--twisting the phone up and down like opening a door handle twice.
I really like the wrist flicking gesture. From the point of pulling my devicer out and flicking my wrist twice, the camera app takes about 3 - 4 seconds to open up to a point where I will be ready to take a picture. Not sure if the wrist flicking gesture is unique to Motorolla phone, it's a great selling point if it is.
