Hi,
In order to get a bricked essential phone restored, we need a digitally signed firehose_8998 programmer file. I have seen a few for other phones. Does anyone have a leaked version from essential and if not does anyone know if another companies edf can be used as long as the Qualcomm chip is the same?

This is not the correct one. You need the essential ph-1 one, not the one from a different company since they are digitally signed. Unless essential gives it up or someone that works there leaks it, you are sol.

Use Edl_generator.exe to make a save brick bag? I made a save brick package, and I used the same file as the one above, but some feedback said that PH-1 could not be resurrected.

I could use help with this as well and would be willing to offer a small bounty - I think everyone has the Qualcomm 9008 on a com port showing up; there are many places online that show how this particular chipset can be "unbricked" - but none of them are specific to the Essential PH-1; most of them appear to be for LG devices.
FYI - Personally, my brick occurred when I attempted to UPGRADE to a new version of a Lineage OS 16 build from here: https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=281289&sort_by=date&sort_dir=DESC ....it occurred after I attempted to reflash from TWRP - my guess is that it was bootloader related or I attempted to root incorrectly.
Any help is appreciated - it would be AMAZING for PH-1 users if they had a way to rescue their devices!!!

I just got a soft brick with the touch one. Might just be my mistake. And error 6 basically means that I have typo in my Install script. Will fix it today.

On 5.0.1 bootloader do not allow flashing, he needs to be in 6.0

Hmm, seems no one will help you! But I will.
1. Download this https://mega.nz/#!1zo1gDgS
2. Extract it on TWRP folder at backup section ( if you don't have, create it on local SD card TWRP>backup>yournameoridk
3. Make sure you have backup on your current state, I am not responsible for any damage!
4. Boot in TWRP
5. restore these files and wipe danvik and cache!
6. Reboot to system.
7. Go to About Phone and if you see IMEI you are lucky, if not, better buy new phone!

It's not gonna work anyway... Because the PH-1 has Secure Boot Enabled. So it needs a signed programmer .elf to work. Even if you have rawprogram0 and patch0 right, the Secure Boot will lock you out only for the programmer...
This POS device its dead, and I'll continue commenting on Essential's Facebook about those files only to annoy them for being this greedy...

It may be because of the screen protector I'm not sure but when I took mines off it worked perfectly

I've tried on 10.0.16 and 10.0.19 they are the only ones available 10.0.13 doesn't have any links to download it.

Hmm... I still think it sounds like it could be a hardware failure... I'd look at doing a warranty exchange through OnePlus

I was not on a custom rom. I was rooted on the newest stock firmware. Where did you find the persist.img? I would like to try it to see if it works for me.

Found it in a telegram group called hottdog dev although if it stopped working for you on stock firmware that leads me to believe it's a hardware issue for us.....weird

I contacted TMobile via Twitter and they're sending me a replacement device. They said that there are multiple reports online of this happening so if I was you I'd just get a warranty exchange.

No this issue wasn't letting us even start to register our fingerprints.
I just got my unlock stuff from OnePlus and I know there is a thread on here for converting but from what I see it is to go to EU firmware and has some other steps I assume that are for rooting. I don't want to root I just want to install the USA Unlocked firmware on mine. What is the current process for that are there downloads yet or are we still waiting?

Reason being is that T-Mobile lags hella hard on their updates. OnePlus, on the other hand, is pretty quick on releasing their updates. Conveting your phone to global means that we can update our phones as soon as oxygen updater gets the updates.

What process did you use? Can you just flash via recovery like previous models? Is the EU firmware missing anything the US phones would have?

Yeah that's the thread I saw. Just confused about all the payload extraction and stuff what is that about? Don't remember it being that involved before.

T-mobile bloatware actually I prefer the t-mobile roms because of the nice features but screenshot button is missing. I'll post how I flashed in a separate topic

use the 3 finger gesture, as in swipe down to take a screen shot. It's in the button and gestures menu.

The payload extraction gives you the files to flash using fastbootd, I'm sure if someone had access to a file hosting site they could just host the files already extracted into a downloadable zip file.

Ohhh ok sorry I get it now. The payload is to get the files all together to flash not extracting something from the phone itself.

Global is worthless. No local upgrade and OTAs won't work if you modify system files. There's no way to get a clean set of fastboot files since OnePlus isn't publishing the firmware.
Convert to EU and don't question it. The modem works perfectly.
