Anyone experiencing this on their Halo Gray? My first one had it, Essential sent me a replacement, and it's the same on that one too. These are the 2 phones.

Yes, it's a normal problem with the Halo Grey variant. In the Essential subreddit it's been widely commented.
Put a dbrand skin on it, problem solved.
I bought it from Amazon, mine was exactly same. So I request a replacement for it, then I get a good one.
I've seen reddit post, it is common issue on halo gray... I think I was kind of lucky.
Why don't you get a Dbrand Skin?

Ive used them in the past, but I'm not a big fan of putting a sticker on my phone anymore.
I have also Halo Grey but no problem around the fingerprint...
I just got one, had it out 10 minutes, then back in the box.
I didn't have the same thing, I had slight staining at the bottom of the case.
Looks like someone from the factory in China, didn't clean their fingerprints off well, so I had a slight discoloration from a fingerprint stain.
Wait did you just say stain? Yes that's right, because I then touched the back of the gray, and then also rubbed a finger around, and only within a few seconds it was stained and I couldn't wipe it all out, and yes my fingers were very clean. Now that's crazy to touch the case for only a few seconds and getting fingerprint marks that won't completly come out.
So either I had a bad piece of cermaic, or these are terrible fingerprint magnets and they stain too, so I tossed it back in the box and sent it back as soon as it arrived.
Essential should of made the Gray in a gloss finish like the white and black, easier to keep clean.
Everyone has different tastes, but I found the matte look cheap/cheesy.
So when my Halo gray arrives next month I should not touch the phone without gloves on until I put one of the two clear cases I bought for it on it?

Yup!
Some people's hand oil is different and more or less corrosive or or likely to soak into the ceramic back. Ceramic depending on the glaze on it can absorb oil. I think this is why some have more or less problems on the Halo grey satin finish back.

The black/metalish coating down at the stylus is starting to come of on my trinity after just about two weeks!!!... Anyone else here who have noticed the same?

<- Can someone tell me how this picture came in this post?!!??
[I put it there. V]
Same here!
I have the same problem!
Very annoying considering how much the device is - this is the only negative that I have about it.
This is where a silicone case would come in useful. None presently exist for the Trinity, but then it is only a matter of time.
can someone post a picture of the problem. i am also thinking about getting a dopod d810 soon in the new year and I would like to see how serious the problem is....
yep a photo of the problem would be great.
Have you tried getting the phone replaced?
I've sent the phone in for a service to see what they have to say. But HTC will most likely deny that this is their problem... *argh*
I will post a picture when I come home.
Sound as the same problem with the Wizard after a few weeks you can peel of the coating on the side also (think wet hands).
Check out the attached files...
BTW: mine started to peel off on the front too... This is crap! *argh*
Did you drop it or was this from normal use? I'm a bit worried now...
Can a black sharpie or something make it look better? I'm interested to hear what HTC says!
humm, mine is still perfect after 2 weeks
No dropping or anything. I've used it with care, even though I'm a bit "fast" when I take out the stylus, but I mean a unit like this should be built for that kind of use. (and I don't have any long sharp nails either which might actually be a killer for the paint.... )
btw: what is a sharpie? Some kind of "make-up" stick?
HTC should offer to replace the phone.
I would be pretty alarmed if they didn't.
Sorry, Sharpie is a permanent marker
Google it
hi guys,
that looks pretty bad. it can only get worse if its peeling like that. get a replacement. it seems the gloss coat isnt bonded properly to the case
Peeling off here too....
Well I have this problem too, but its merely visible. The interesting thing is: It looks like there is shining metal under the coating. Can anybody confirm this? I wouldnt mind to have the bottom piece looking like blank metal.
I think there is a dark, semi-shining metal below the coating.
Still waiting for a reply from the service center.
OMG they seems to painted the bottom part of white Trinity case over with black paint on top.. semi-shining metal coating you guys seeing is what bottom part of white Trinity looks like in fact.
Just took a look at the white trinity now.. And you know what SecureGSM? You might be right... Or maybe it's just a coincidence...?

All of those of you that wanted an upgraded Google Nexus S - your wish has been granted, if you consider a new colour an upgrade.
TechRadar got a little look at the new handset on test, and if you're in the market for something different when it comes to a new mobile, then the White Nexus S will at least set you apart.
First impressions make it feel like all Google and Samsung have done is chuck a while plastic cover on the back of the phone, but thankfully it's a little more than that.
Firstly, the whole inside of the phone is now white when you pop the cover off, as well as the extraneous buttons - and these are the things that are actually different on view when you consider the differences between the white and black version.
Sat side by side, you probably wouldn't notice the difference between the two phones from the front, with the same 4-inch Super AMOLED screen on offer. We have no idea why the front isn't also white - we can only assume this messes with the colour perception in some way, as the dual tone looks odd.
We put the black plastic cover on the back of the white Nexus S (there's not a lot else you can do when taking pictures of a new cover) so you can see the difference.
Another key difference, and in our eyes an upgrade, is the back is no longer glossy plastic but a slightly mottled exterior making it easier to hold.
Other than that, the two phones are identical. there's no official White Google Nexus S UK release date, but expect to see the phone sometime in April.
It should be landing on the same £30 a month (ish) tariff as its black brethren on Vodafone - at least now you can decide which version suits you better.

Ok samsung needs to make a non glossy black battery cover ASAP!!!
+1 to SupaDupaFly24!!!
I think the phone looks a bit odd because the front is still just black.
The black cover on the white phone looks cool though.
All they did was change the back? not the front or the bezel?
The non glossy back is a great idea though.
When will they make black battery covers like that?

I recently picked up two new N7's and unfortunately they both have minor screen lift. The cases we ordered are similar to the one pictured below... Can anyone tell me if its even visible/noticeable in a case like that? I mean, i cant imagine it being noticeable with the bezel being covered by the case.
Thanks

I have the exact case (except its blue) and the screen lift is not noticeable. In fact, i had ordered the slim ebay case and i switched back to the supcase because it seemed that the screen lift was worse in the ebay case. I feel that the way the supcase holds the N7 in does help

Great news! Thanks for the quick reply.
No. Anything that covers the bezel will hide it. The Slim cases typically don't cover the whole bezel except the corners. Most TPU cases will though.
Problem solved for the screen lift issues

I sense some sarcasm, but may as well be for me. I plan on using mine in the case full time so out of sight out of mind
And hey, a case was a valid fix for the iphone4! :victory:
How scratch resistant are the wood backs? Do they hold up well in day to day use? Obviously, if you design something like that you don't want to cover it up with a case

I'm curious too as I need to use my code today and I was debating a wood back.
I can only speak for the ebony (not real ebony, just as with the teak and walnut). They feel almost like paper, and they scuff quite easily. Mine had some light marks right out of the box, which I think was from the original inside top of the box rubbing against the phone.
I was disappointed enough to send it back and stick with my woven black back.
Bamboo may be better as it is actually bamboo. Don't know what they're doing with the other finishes, but the ebony one was lousy.
I've only had my Moto X for a few days but I've not noticed any visible scratches/scuffs on my bamboo back. I don't have a case yet and I'm thinking I don't need one. Might just go with a bumper and screen protector to show off my bamboo back.

I just received my Bamboo backed X on Saturday and put a (clear) case on it the next day. I didn't really want to put it in a case, I've always preferred neked. But after my GNex (and OG Droid and Bionic) I've proven that I'm not to be trusted with keeping a phone looking pristine. Anyway, I'm more concerned with scratching the plastic than the wood. I would think some scratching/wear on the wood might actually add character more than anything. Excepting of course deep gouges or peeling. This may not apply to the other wood backs though due to it being a finish and not the actual wood, scratches on those might expose the base wood too much and look odd.
Wood backs are better than glass this thing is a fingerprint magnet :banghead:

I really like the leather. But every sign of wear or damage..., those things happen... . I don't like.
Especially after dropping on the floor three times.
How does your cover looks like?

Had mine since launch in the UK, my black leather back is still in good shape. Some *very* small signs of wear on the corners, but nothing you'd notice unless you were looking really closely.
I haven't dropped mine (yet) though!

Dropping the phone isn't a "sign of wear"...you can't blame it for getting dinged up on your own account. Same thing would happen to plastic backs.

Yes that is.... It's also wear... Daily use. And dropping on the floor is a part of it.
I don't blame anybody or the quality.
Guess you miss the purpose of the post.
Just curious how other people's covers look like...

I understand the post completely, I'm just saying dropping your phone isn't a sign of wear. Taking it in/out of your pocket and handling it constantly would be a sign of wear.
Mine actually looks pretty good, minus small discoloration on the corners. I'm actually pretty surprised by how well its held up. I suspect it depends on the leather used and how well it was constructed.
Mine is showing a decent amount of wear along the border/on the edges. I actually like it. I have the brown leather and the brown had too much of an orange-ish tint for my taste. I like that with the wear it's darkened up a bit.
Sent from my LG-H811 using XDA Free mobile app
I clean it with leather conditioner, so it's softened up a bit. Looks slightly darker than when I bought it, and the corners are darkening/peeling but I didn't get a clear picture, I like the wear though so it doesn't bother me much.
Before I took my black leather off and replaced it with the plastic and slapped a case on.
The leather was holding up perfectly fine. The corners seemed fine as well. The black is a bit different from the rest of them it seems though.
