I need a stock lg v20 music app - LG V20 Questions & Answers

I recently updated my lg ls997 to Oreo, now I want a stock lg music app but can't find it.
I tried that one in apps & themes forum but it doesn't work.
I tried to use apk edit trick and it installed successfully but it crashed after first use and no longer works.
The stock gallery app works fine for me.
But the stock music app doesn't.
Any help would be appreciated.

Does Oreo not include the stock LG Music app like Nougat did? That's surprising.
Perhaps try an apk of the Music app used on the V30 Oreo if it's available?
Or apkmirror.com might have one?

Yes Oreo doesn't include gallery and music stock apps for lg v20 sprint variant.
In apkmirror I found lg music flow player and it works but didn't know is that the stock music player for lg v20? I don't think so.
Tried to find stock lg v30 music player but didn't find it.

You can try this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/themes/stock-music-app-to-att-version-t3552963
It's for the AT&T version but also mentions APK editor to "sign" an app for your phone.
Good luck

Did you try clearing data after installing it when you did the edit trick?

This is the apk sign trick OP was talking about. I have the same issue with the app not working for my h910. It just errors and force closes so I do want to know if anyone has an updated version of the LG Music app.

Yes, I even tried to delete the app and sign it again with the trick the same result.
I also changed the android sdk version to 26.
The same result.

Thanks! That stock music player is working well on my Oreo att v20. It can play dsd music without any issues. Buty my old v10 still sounds better than v20. Since v20 has better DAC, I guess v10 has better amplifier.

Enable Quad DAC on H910 & LGMusic Player. Extraordinary excellent sound quality (root only)

For those who want the original LG Music player on their V20 without having to jump hurdles:
This is "com.lge.music 6.20.19", it is LG's version 6.20.19 which I got on APK Mirror. It's the latest version that works perfectly on the AT&T LG V20. Everything works like it's supposed to including the EQ. This is the direct download. Give it a few seconds for the download to show up.

I just went back to my V20 from my V40 because ATT has been detecting my Mobile Hotspot usage the past 2 years no matter the Android hacks and Windows TTL hacks. Come to find out it's Android 10 and beyond that's the culprit. Freaking G fixed it so providers can detect Hotspot through the hacks. I just did a bunch of experimenting and with my V30 (Android 9) and V20 (Android 8), the tether_dun_required "0" hack now works again. I racked up 85 gigs on my 15GB Hotspot allowance and my account still shows only 1.6GB hotspot usage. The V20 is LG's last phone to have 16:9 bright white screen and removable battery anyway so this is where I'll stay.

Larger than Winamp (7MB as opposed to 3MB once installed)
How did you get the lockscreen commands working? I had nothing. I'd maybe use it then as it does look nice, but Winamp has a better widget, plus lock screen.
It is force closing on my desire using gingervillian... any ideas?
it is working on my Viewpad 10s not optimal but useble..
Mine keeps saying "application not installed". I'm using oxygen 2.0.3. Any ideas?
I cant get it to install. I says application not installed everytime. I read somewhere that i has to do with the fact that i installed the older leaked version. How do i remove the old version completely?

Yes. That would be nice.
Not good... tried a few things.. looks ok .. uninstalled
buggy on oxygen 2.0.3
I really liked the interface though it is quite minimal so it's a shame that:
interface is slow to load and lags (not just on first load)
scrobbling gets very confused (last.fm doesn't know what to do and flashes scrobbling notification repeatedly).
uninstalled.
edit
downloaded a different version from some forum after reading an article about syncing music with latest music app. seemed to work very smoothly indeed.
I installed the one from here: Official Android Music 3.0 Beta! Get It Now!.
It works fine with the MIUI 1.4.8. But I'm missing some features like sleep timer, editing ID3-Tags. But I like the interface.
Is there a way of making this the default music app and having it work with the HTC Lockscreen? I Like it other than that.
I don't like it at all. It looks quite cheap compared to the older version... and compared to other players, including the stock HTC music player. Also, why so laggy?
thanks for this...

global equalizer and sound settings

I looked at a G6 on display and I love it. Only thing that troubles me is I can't find the global equalizer and sound settings like the Galaxy S7 has. Is there not a eq that works for everything? That's one thing i hated about my iphone when I had it was listening to pandora or spotify with no eq. flat and boring. I know there's 3rd party Eq's but they're not reliable. For example i put one on my Nexus 7 and now it doesn't work. It shows it's on but it does nothing. the sound sucks. When I had One M7 I had the same problem. the 3rd party EQ apps would only work half the time.
So does the G6 have a global EQ?

Does that require rooting my phone? I don't know how to root the phone and on Verizon the bootloaders are always locked last I heard. I'm not comfortable with rooting plus when Verizon does tech support they connect to the phone remotely and check the settings and I'm afraid they would see the root and void my warranty.
No root, just install musicfx.apk and the EQ settings will show in Google music settings.

I was confused because it says: "In order to install it as a system app, you'll need a root-capable file manager, like ES File Explorer, which is what I use."
It needs root coz you need to install it as a system file. No root yet achieved for g6.

I can't get it to work. I even tried to copy it in the system folder but it said something like I don't have write access. What do I do now for a global eq?

Just install the apk like any other app and thats it, the eq options will appear in spotify, google music, etc... mine is working fine and with eq settings+highfi dac is amazing

Hello again...
Just my two cents...
The musicfx.apk on the link before doesn't work well. You cannot make a custom equalization. But if you use the musicfx.apk from the OP5 thread It will work pretty well...

Music player seems to crash and forget Shuffle and Repeat. Anyone else?

The stock music player seems to crash periodically or something is happening where it forgets that Shuffle and Repeat were selected.
Is anyone else experiencing this and does anyone have a workaround?
Thanks,

I have a workaround that is way too obvious. Try another player. I really recommend Poweramp (ability to output 192khz 24 bit) or shuttle.

Personally I do not care for solutions that add advertisements or cost money when the built in application should work properly. However a better alternative would have been VLC. It is free and has no advertisements. I'll give that a try, but I would still like the developers to resolve the issue or at least put it on their todo list.
My main goal was to see if anyone else is experiencing this problem and to see about opening a bug report so that it might be addressed someday. I just don't know if it is limited to the klte branch or if it affects other phones. I was hoping to see how big the issue is. It hasn't worked correctly for years.

Certainly. I am rooted. I am running LinageOS version: 14.1-20170426-NIGHTLY-klte. However the problem has persisted since CM12. I had an older Galaxy S3 with I think CM10, that did not have the problem, but that was a long time ago. If you want a log with the problem, I can probably produce that.
I did wipe the phone before going from CM13 to Lineage and I did not restore from backup since I saw warnings against doing that with Titanium Backup.

To be honest. I have never tried the Stock Rom, but I would not think that Samsung would use the Android Music Player. I am currently using Google Play Music instead of the Android Music Player, but I have the widget on my desktop and every time that I see the shuffle and play all un-selected, I select them again. Usually within a few hours they are un-selected again.
I thought about trying the stock ROM, but from what I have seen it is Android 6.0. I guess I will give it a whirl though. Any recommendations on where to download a stock ROM?

yeah, to me, it doesnt sound like its worth the trouble. Id just try different aftermarket music players and stick with what you like the best. The nice thing about your problem, is that there isnt a shortage of music players to choose from, even free ones without ads. Have you tried viper?

Well, I didn't try installing it before posting it here, but now that you said it, I did actually try installing it as a user app (which didn't work, and like you, the app installs but fails to launch).
I thought maybe including the additional library file (librsjni.so) would help, so I whipped up a flashable zip which installed the app as a system app with the library file & flashed it in TWRP. It showed up in the app drawer, but like before, failed to launch.
My best guess is that it needs some dependencies to work properly that are only present in LOS & Custom ROMs based on LOS.

That's a shame. Eleven is my favorite music player by far (I just wish it had built in Chromecast support!), And I've had a hard time finding a suitable replacement for the OP5. But hey, props for trying my friend!

Yeah, but there are few apps like Walkman from sony, we have a cracked version of apk which can be installed in many android device without rooting the Mobile. Is there any chance of getting Eleven music player same way !!??

I think you mean ported not cracked. Proper ports add the missing libraries/dependencies to the apk so that the app can be installed as a standalone app on any device and it'll work, since the libraries/dependencies needed are bundled with the apk, and need not be present in the ROM being used.

I've been using the free version of Shuttle on and off for years. It's honestly my second choice in the line-up of music players out there, but I did have a couple issues with it (mostly artwork related). I might as well purchase it and send some money the dev's way — he still did a pretty damn good job on it, and I'd like to see him continue working on it, even if Shuttle is open sourced now.
Funny how I'll spend hundreds of dollars, no questions asked, on a phone, despite the fact that my previous one was still in perfect condition and could still hold its own against current choices on the market, yet the idea of spending one measly dollar on an app makes me hesitate.
