Via Engadget:
"Sorry, gents, but your conspiracy theories are wholly kaput -- not only is a Samsung Galaxy S getting Android 2.2 stateside, but the speedy software update will start rolling out tomorrow on T-Mobile USA. That's the word direct from T-Mo chief marketing officer Cole Brodman, who tossed the news to PC Magazine this afternoon, saying that the delay was a "quality control and timing issue." Apparently, there's extra work involved in skinning the operating system and adding exclusive apps like WiFi calling -- though he didn't confirm either would specifically appear in the Vibrant's build of Froyo. Here's some more welcome news, though: the gentleman promised that in general, Android updates on T-Mobile will be more prompt from now on, as the firm's shooting to update all phones to new versions within five months of Google making source code available. Does that mean we should expect some Gingerbread men by May? We're not totally sure, but we imagine that T-Mobile's rivals aren't sitting still -- we'll probably hear some fascinating, captivating and totally epic news about Froyo any minute now."
Now about that source...

(Thanks StefanB86)
EDIT: Sorry, this should have gone in general, and I didn't realize it was already there, my applogies, just exciting. Mods feel free to move or delete.
If that is true. This would be great not only foe those who are still stock but for devs

Will the Vibrant be able to upgrade from the Samsung Mini Kies software on 01/21/2011 instead of waiting for the OTA update?

My guess its pure marketing... they wanted to introduce Vibrant 4G and sure they know will be heckled for Froyo so to get more attention for new phones. They added saying Froyo for everyone and now we introduce new phones. its bait to make people buy new Vibrant 4G.
wifi calling? really? what's the difference between that and google voice?
edit: wait, wifi calling means you get to use your mobile number for that. awesome! *craps in pants* can't wait till this gets ported to Captivate.

You should have official Froyo source soon, so building a kernel designed for the Vibrant will be nice...

Maybe a dumb question, but for everyone on here already running stock deodexed or custom roms that work extremely well. What benefit is there to getting the factory upgrade to froyo? I had an iphone on tmobile for the last two years and everytime a release came out the phone just got slower and crappier until I finally bought a vibrant. I just wonder how much better samsungs release is going to be if you guys already have such nice working roms here.
Also, everyone that jumped at the official updates always got jammed up with problems.
About the Ninja breadz, I suspect we will be in a near stable beta phase by March...
Oh yea..
Edit: and I mean Vibrant owners using it while in beta.... Please Krylon

It means they'll have to release the source code. That's essential for some kernel modifications, allowing for overclocking, better battery life, etc. without the bad battery life of the I-9000 for example. Even though we may have gingerbread running smoothly by then...

is the download speed in your signature for real? on a vibrant 3g? on tmobile? if so how did you do that? what modem are you using?
please let me know... that seems pretty ridiculous. Thanks in advance.
very excited for GB and Official Froyo source code goodness!

Just noticed this in my Youtube suggestion box.
And more info is obtained here: http://developer.sonymobile.com/201...-xperia-devices-in-sonys-open-device-program/
the modem and camera are not implemented.
no modem is kind of a deal breaker for actual use.. but it's cool to see them do this.
It's also, I believe, missing a number of features in the official M developer preview.
The issue is that Google does NOT publish full source to AOSP for developer previews. For L, the dev preview source release consisted of GPL components only - the L-preview tags/branches for all other repos were just the current state of AOSP Master at the time or identical to the latest KK tag.
Apparently Google released more for M dev preview, but it's still not complete. (IMO Sony probably was too aggressive with releasing these previews because they're half-baked for the reasons stated above...)
So, the Xiaomi MI6 is having an IMX386, and a Snapdragon 835, as everyone already know, and these are capable for recording up to 720p240FPS and 1080p120FPS. Maybe more, but I can't find any official specification for the camera sensor, only a phone with this sensor that capable of these recording settings: https://imgur.com/a/VpiMx
My question is belong to our great developers, are you having some kind of interest modding this device to support these options, or we have to wait for the kernel source code first, or is it possible at all?
I think it is possible, but we have to wait till the source code. My guess is that Xiaomi releases it mid-October.
I'm trying to figure out FHD/60fps recording here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-6/help/to-enable-hd-60fps-recording-t3626185

I don't think it's possible (yet). Tried a lot of things, none of them actually recorded 60fps...
You can try to ask the developers of freedcam or Bacon Camera. and see if they can provide any support for it.
Also, if the camera driver doesn't provide support for it, I'm not sure it is even possible to do.
Freedcam thread is over here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/camera-freedcam-4-0-3-t3115548
Bacon Camera is over here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/paid-software/camera-bacon-camera-t3253278
Bacon Camera already seems to have some support for Xiaomi Mi6, but I don't which features it support on this device, but you should try it before you ask for support of course..

That's not related to kernel source... Blobs handle that kind of stuff.

So do you think we'll ever see 60fps recording ?
Moto Z2 Force uses 2 IMX 386 sensors.
Their Kernel is released.
Maybe there's something that can be done.
Lg Q6 have vulkan api?
G6 must be supporting Vulkan, since I was able to play games with Vulkan API selection through PPSSPP.
I say, it does.

Dude I guess you should search the net before you open a thread.
Qualcomm's official site says that Adreno 530 has the Vulkan 1.0 support.
Dear developers and fellow s4 users,
I recently got my hands on a s4 and would like to kindly push your attention on a awesome project I am following since a while. The project is called Maru OS and it turns your phone into a pc running Linux when attached to a monitor. In daily use it runs android aosp and since a few weeks it is build on lineageos as well (hence ports should be a lot easier). Right now there are already ports for nexus 5 and 5x, HTC 10, lg g5 ... existing.
I am sadly not a developer and lack the skills to code but I wanted to make a little shoutout and were hoping to attract someone's attention in order to port maruos for our lovely device
Here you find the homepage:
http://maruos.com/#/
Here the google dev group
https://groups.google.com/forum/m/#!forum/maru-os-dev
On YouTube you'll find some beautiful vids of maru is in action.
On github you can find all the sourcecode.
What are you're thoughts?
Have a lovely day
Wow, the project seems pretty intersting would love to see that for our s4
didnt convience me
That's a pity but thanks for your great lineage OS builds
