What exactly are the steps and requirements for downgrading the OS?
I can't seem to find a specific guide on how to do it.
Is bootloader unlock required? Or can it be done with a tool of some sort like a OnePlus or nexus/pixel device?
Ok nevermind. It seems I've found the instructions on the website. Mods can delete this thread please ?

Since the many many updates ZTE have released for A2017G, where can i find the most up to date root/bootloader unlock for B09 i believe? With step by step instructions
Thanks.
So far the unlock process has worked with all firmware versions. Read the tenear guide and the g guide first.
When a new version is released, do i have to reinstall the stock and repeat the process each time? Does it wipe data?

You will go here and follow the guide.
Hey there,
I'm sorry if this is a repeat question but I can't seem to track down a thread where it's described in detail how to root a P8 Lite 2017 running Nougat. If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.
I'm just looking to root it Not anything else.
Kind regards
Chris

You can't root the device at the moment using the proper method because Huawei doesn't offer unlock codes anymore. I've read that this may be temporary.
The very first step in rooting our phone properly is by "unlocking the bootloader" and we can't do that without the unlock code.
The thread with the tutorials for rooting our device has been deleted because the owner bricked the device and ended the support.
That thread doesn't matter to me though since the instructions were not very clear, links were removed and I followed another tutorial for rooting the device for I get nowhere when following an incomplete thread.
Instead, I followed this, this or this one, searched for the appropriate files in P8 Lite (2017) threads and watched some YouTube tutorials.
These tutorials will only work if you have the unlock code.
There may be some unrecommended methods like one-click root apps or maybe using a trusted website for buying unlock codes, but I wouldn't recommend any of those and you can try them at your own risk.
Some might work or others might be just trying to steal your IMEI and other sensitive informations.
I don't even know if they are compatible or supports the device.
My bootloader is locked I know how to unlock it and I understand that all my data will be gone I am okay with it I need the fastboot rom file for the android pie with December security patch and also will I get continuous updates via OTA after switching to a beta rom while in stable I don't have twrp and am not going to flash twrp too is there a way to flash it normally using miflash like Techrapt has done in his video unfortunately he did not provide link to rom or steps
Can anybody please provide the rom and steps and also confirm I will continue getting the OTA updates regularly like stock rom
Thank You
Bypass and install with Fastboot method

PD: Don't Downgrade to 8.1 or destroy your bootloader (bricked), ONLY update to oficial Pie 9.0.0

Hi all, new user here
I'd like to install for the very first time a custom ROM on my phone, a Zenfone Max Pro M1 (ZB602KL).
LOS for microG seems what I need, but before starting I spent some time reading the official LOS wiki and the XDA forum, and now I'm a bit confused...
The LOS wiki (https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/X00TD/install) says I have to use the official ASUS tool to unlock the bootloader, but a post on the XDA forum says "If you have unlocked bootloader officially then even after relocking bootloader the OTA functionality does not work. Asus server blacklist your phone serial number and imei so you can't receive any OTA".
So perhaps I should use TWRP? There's no official version but I found this one, can I use it on my phone? https://forum.xda-developers.com/as...ent/recovery-unofficial-twrp-3-2-3-0-t3888110
Also I assume instructions for X00TD are "compatible" with my ZB602KL, is that correct?
Sorry for the long post and thanks for your help!
You're right, unofficial unlock involves using the fastboot commands script and OTA still works that way. Search and try different recovery versions to see if they fit your need.
Thanks, I'll try installing with TWRP then.
Is it possible to unlock this with 15.04 firmware?
Maybe I need to downgrade? Pointing in the right path will be nice
Me too!
I tried official and unofficial ways and cannot unlock my bootloader. I also tried to downgrade using the files available in Asus support page, but it don't work too.
Someone can help us in unlocking in Android 8 or help us with the downgrade? All the links to stock RAW files available around here and in 10 pages of google search are broken...
EDIT:
@CharlesDicken Look at the Support page from Asus site and download the most recent Unlock Tool. (0819-1438_SIGNED_UnlockTool_9.2.0.0_200807_fulldpi_ZE552KL.apk). With this version, I was be able to unlock my Zenfone 3 and proceed with TWRP, Magisk and root in the end.
