Can you flash customs kernels on your devices with custom roms (8.1) I tried many times but stuck on bootloop.

I answerd you here https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/help/android-9-pie-port-t3830541/post77419302
If customs roms are a mess, I recommend that you stay on stock rom cause your thread doesn't contain anything useful and downvotes the massive effort every developer does for this device.
If you just bought this device, you did not make enough research.
You can read here for example

In the meantime you can study a little bit about some common things:

I tried Looney ,waver etc everything worked.

Looks like we have a classic case of inexperience coupled with a lack of willingness to admit it and take guidance when it's kindly offered...

ROM Advice

Hi All,
I have had my Galaxy S 4 (I9505) for a while now but it is still running android 4.3.
I was hoping to update it to 5.0.1 but when I plugged it into my PC, Kies said 'This device is unsupported'
I want to flash a new rom onto it (I have done this in the past with a samsung tablet)
I was just wanting some feedback as to what is regarded as a good rom for it these days. Should I go a standard stock rom from sammobile or are there custom roms out there that perform better?
Thanks for any help and advice.
Daniel
Custom roms give you more performance. Stock roms tend to lag here and there, from what I saw in rom reviews.
If you want a minimalist rom, go for CM12 or Slim roms. They have very few features.
If you want lots of features, go for AICP or Resurrection Remix. These two combine the most popular features from other roms (I personally use Resurrection Remix).
And there are the GPE roms. I don't know how GPE 5.1 is, but on 5.0 the rom was rock solid and everything worked.
I can't say anythinv about stock touchwiz because, since I changed I never went back

Try a custom S6 Touchwiz ROM for your phone model - you'll be pleasantly surprised by the new look, feel and performance. I know I am!
I tried CM but not such a big fan... Experiment a bit until you find what you were ALWAYS looking for!
You try to consider CM 12.1 or GPE Roms. The major disadvantage is the camera quality and some multitasking features on TW, but it's hella fast and smooth.
Sent from my GT-I9505G
Roms
I would recommend Cyanogenmod but sometimes it comes with some problems. Check out first which is the stable version for s4.
Also, I would recommend the WickedRom which is great and great performance. And the WanamLite Rom is amazing if you would like to tune your mobile , for example gpu or cpu in higher frequencies or even set custom gestures and etc.( but remember to be careful with those why you might break your phone

it's like you have already a custom rom, or a rooted & modified stock rom !.

go for Resurrection Remix like said: GDReaper, or may be BlissPOP ( with terrible battery drain for me).
I tried just the straight CM 12 rom and it was okay, but once I put on the one of the Optimized CM 12.1 roms I got better battery life and faster performance, but also lost a few features, got a few bugs, but so far so good. It really depends what you want.
If you are willing to have a few crashes, bugs you can put on the newest rom builds, but if you want stable, then going for the older well established ones may be a better option.

I have to correct you here buddy It's almost always better to pick the latest CM build. Because it's a work in progress, every new build has a lot fixes.
I'm curious though to what bugs you are referring to. I used it pretty long and I found it almost to be bugfree. Besides the obvious difficulty's with bluetooth.

Hey Lenny, the official CM builds I have never had an issue with (except nightlies of course) however when we get into the custom ROM world such as Slimroms, modified CM builds etc I do tend to hit a few bugs, such as crashes of apps, however often those builds then become stable.
Hope that makes more sense?
The only good advice is to just use stock roms. It's stable, no bugs, no issues. The only thing that pisses you off is the laggggggg!

Which is the best ROM you guys have discovered for REDMI 2 PRIME

Hello guys !
I have been a new member of XDA . (**noobie** tho ) . I own a REDMI 2 PRIME . I have flashed many roms and kernels on my device suggested by xda but until now i have not found anything i.e. any ROM that i might stick onto. I always flash a new rom and within 3-4 days seeing the battery consumption i revert back to MIUI ROM . Please suggest me with links to the ROM and kernels that i should try on and can hold on to a particular rom.
Thanks Guys !
Look....devs are tried or trying to make ROM that is suitable for us .So be greatful to them.
I am using cm 13(official) and du by dual boot and I am happy.
BTW ...u can't get everything work perfectly in anything in this world.....
In my experience if you are going for bugless you should go for stock which is pretty good and especially on prime much smoother compared to 1gb variant.
On other hand any custom ROM come with trade off, most stable ROM on r2 is DU but it won't support Jio,then there is Orion by same dev which is minimal and excellent ROM in itself ,if you are new to custom Roms then you should stick to CyanogenMod which offers AOSP looks with its own set of features and is reliable,

Reply 1 :Your review was awesome ! Will surely try this beta rom !
Reply 2 :The phone is awesome and i dont see a chance that i might be changing this phone because of its compact size and its battery life on stock rom . The wierd thing that happens is that i have seen many people say that a particular rom say CM13 official nightly build is the best stable rom for redmi 2 prime but i used it and saw a pretty lag even when the phone booted up for the first time that is no new apps installed for a day and then i would have to revert back to my stock rom !
Hehe that is what going on from all the roms i have tried . I havent tried tesla rom latest build for miui redmi 2 prime which users say is the best rom until now ! So lets see what happens next

Best rom ?

Hi there guys , there so much diferents ROMs here
And wanted to know what are the best 5, in terms of fluidity, battery and functionality?
Well, there's no best, only favorites. A ROM that runs great for me on my device may be a problem for others (VertexOS is a good example).
For the record my favorite on the Axon 7 is Dark ROM.
ZTE Axon 7 A2017U, Dirty Unicorns UNOFFICIAL v11.7.2 ROM, Tapatalk 4.9.5
With the exception of MIUI 9 I have tested just about every ROM that's currently in development for the Axon 7. I always end up coming back to DARK ROM because it combines the simplicity and smoothness of LineageOS with a few extra features, such as OMS support and bypassing the PIN unlock on reboot.
ROMs differences.
Instead of creating yet another thread, I'll just hijack this one if that's alright with you guys .
Can somebody give me a rundown of the pros and cons of AOSP and LOS based ROMs in comparison to stock?
I know that camera apps won't work properly on custom ROMs and that there used to be some issue with the DAC, but that seems to have been patched since then (on LOS at least), is that right?
Thanks in advance.

LineageOS was utter crap back in February, but it's gotten a long way since. I believe Lineage + BeastMode Kernel is awesome for performance (not so much for battery though)

new to the forum

So im new to this forum but not to rooting and flashing. Basiclly though im thinking of rooting but not sure there are any stable roms worth flashing and any issues i should look out for. Someone please help me get back into rooting n flashing on op5. Thanks in advance.
Codename Phoenix and Candy ROM are the two most stable and smooth Oreo ROMs that I have used on the OP5. Most custom Oreo ROMs for this phone have bugs, are missing features or don't run all that smoothly. The majority of the Nougat ROMs and kernels for OP5 aren't going to be updated to Oreo because most developers have abandoned the phone since it was only sold for 4 months and unified ROM development for the OP5/5T appears to be impossible. Unless you are one of those people that buys a new phone every year the OP5 is going to end up being a terrible purchase. The Codename Phoenix dev is talking about getting a new phone (definitely not from One Plus) and abandoning his ROM for this device. The dev of Flash Kernel switched to a Pixel 2XL and might also abandon development for this phone. If you use a non-OOS ROM Flash and Blu Spark are the only two custom kernels left that you can flash.

There's xXx romb No Limits. It's VERY stable. Based on oxygen os. I'm running this for a very long time and had zero issues.

ROM recommendations?

So, I'm about to root and install a custom ROM on my girlfriend's S7E, mainly because of the recent problem with Oreo and Instagram as seen here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help/instagram-stories-oreo-t3804945. So I'm looking for stable Nougat ROMs that favor battery life over features, like AOSP or Nexus based ROMs. I have some experience in rooting and installing custom ROMs in android devices, but it has been around two years since I last messed around with it. Any useful pointers that you think are important?
Most stable Nougat was the Superman Rom for me. No problems over all and nice Battery life.
