I have US Cellular XT1768 running Resurrection Remix. I often get the nag posted below when listening to music at the health club...usually fumbling around trying to switch tracks...I think is when it happens. Sometimes the google chick even talks to me saying that I can use my voice to perform certain actions. Getting her to shut up is sometimes a hassle, plus she overrides my tunes! I've been on RR for quite a while, but I remember the same thing happening with the stock ROM as well. Is there a way to disable the Google nag, and/or remove the "feature"?
Thanks!

Sounds like your headphones are accessing the home button. I have 1 headset that does that.
Why would that happen? The headphones are plain ear buds...no attached microphone., volume buttons, or anything for that matter.

The headphone jack has three inputs though. Something may be touching it. It happens. You can go into settings for the Google app and disable the hesdset recognition. It may help. Google app -
Settings/voice/hands free . Haven't tried it myself

Madbat is right, the same thing happens when I'm hard wired to the Aux input in my car, and that jack only has two bands on it.
It seems to be Google Assistant/Spy/Tracker being activated. The only way I've found to get rid of the accidental activating is to disable Assistant completely, which I wanted to do anway.
The setting is actually kinda hidden...
On Nougat, at least: Settings... Google... Search... Settings (under Google Assistant)... (then, if you haven't done so already: ) click thru the next two screens with 'No Thanks' or 'No' or 'Continue' or whatever.... now you are in yet another 'Settings' screen.... then, under Devices, click Phone.... there is the setting you need to disable Assistant.
This worked for me, anyway.

@beachfl
Thanks! Found the setting and turned it off. Hopefully it takes care of the issue.
Well, there has to be more to it than the Google settings because the damn nag keeps popping up. I've now resorted to disabling all notifications from the Google app. I'll see if that stops it!

While writing messages I like that when I type I get vibration in response, it had been working up until three days ago and now the vibration is gone. I still have vibration for when I get a message or phone call, just not in keyboard, it slightly vibrates but not enough for you to really notice, I've made sure in my settings that it hadn't been changed somehow. Has anyone else experienced this problem or know a fix for it?

I find that a hard reset normally fixes any issues like that. What have you tried to fix it? Trying holding down on the power button until the phone restarts if you haven't already

in the keyboard settings, theres an option for vibration duration(screenshot, bottom). also, many custom kernels provide the ability to increase vibration strength.

EDIT* I've fixed it, since I done a hard reset the option became highlighted and I was able to change the vibration.
So I downloaded the new Pushbullet update to take advantage of their new Notification Mirroring Service feature.... basically does the same as the Desktop Notification app. I did this so maybe I wouldnt have to use 2 apps on my phone that does the same service. The next day, I realized that the hotword detection feature (ok google) stopped working from the Homescreen and even in Google Now. I was driving myself crazy trying to figure out why and i almost returned my N5 and somehow found my way to Accessibility settings and remembered that, enabling the new Pushbullet feature was the last major thing I did on my phone. I unchecked and disabled it and Boom, "Ok Google" works perfectly fine again.
So if anyone is having an issue with their hotword detection not working, check Pushbullet or any other accessibility settings.
I don't have PushBullet installed, but I also lost the "Ok Google" detection. I rebooted my phone and that brought it back. Something else to try if anyone runs into any issue.

Make sure that in Google Now settings> Voice> Language (Set it to English US)
Quick Pushbullet question to reduce forum clutter. Can you change the life time of the notification popups? Its a bit too quick to disappear. I am running the latest version of OSX. Haven't found applicable settings to change.
No I dont think so..... Desktop Notifications does give you the option to change how long the notification stays up.
I also just got an email from PushBullet about the issue I detailed at the top and they are working on a fix.

I had this same issue with the "Lockscreen Notification" app.
As of today's fix, this is no longer a problem. I' had been wondering "okay Google" had stopped working until I saw this post. But after this morning's update to Pushbullet, I can once again use "okay Google".
i use pushbullet as well. no problems with google's ok google for me. works fine..
I'd like to stop using Ibolt dock-n-drive for various reasons, so I'm trying to use Tasker to set the volume, keep the screen on, etc when my S 4 goes into dock mode. However, even with Dock No-Op, whenever I undock, the media volume goes to 0 and Bluetooth turns off. I'd like these settings to be restored to their pre-dock state which is what Tasker is supposed to do AFAIK. Is there an easy way to prevent these settings from being adjusted (by the OS?)? I'm sure I can eventually figure out how to make tasker save and restore these settings with brute force, but if somebody has already done this, please let me know the trick or the Tasker code.
I'm using iBolt xProDock. It has a fairly rigid cable that makes it easy to plug in with one hand, so I'd like to keep using this cable. This cable also forces the S4 into dock mode - which was good when I was using iBolt's software. As I feared, the timing between tasker's Dock "end task" and whatever it is turning the Bluetooth off and media volume to 0 is indeterminate. Sometimes the Dock end task comes first, so whatever I do there gets overwritten. My kludge so far is for my Dock end task to wait until Bluetooth is off, and then turn it back on and set the media volume. This will likely be annoying when I undock while sitting in my car but with the Bluetooth still on because the media player will stop and I'll have to restart it manually. (I'm an applications engineer and spend a lot of time sitting in my car when I get to meetings early.)
I've seen other people ask "what is turning off Bluetooth when I undock my S4", but I've never seen an answer. It would be really nice to just stop that behavior.
I've only been using Tasker for a day, so let me know if there is a better workaround.

it's working now. thank you mate. I've not restarted phone before. it's Okey now.
I was wondering if all three power management toggles need to be disabled. Could someone test it by only disabling "allow deep sleep" & keeping others on? Thanks
I'm having this problem now too, even with all the power management features disabled
not just a spotify issue. i use play and have same issue. Reboot usually fixes it. started happening with b29 update
I solved my problem by setting up tasker to start Google play when phone connected to
Stereo system in my truck via Bluetooth and seems to have eliminated the problem for me.
This is a recurrent problem with the Axon 7 and it's driving me nuts. You can get Spotify to work by rebooting your phone, but within about a day it's somehow reset itself to turn off when the screen goes off. Disabling all power savings features does not make a difference long-term, or short-term for that matter anymore.
There's over 150 messages about it on ZTE forums. I've contacted ZTE tech support about it and they said they have no timeline for a fix. As Spotify is my main music app, and I bought the Axon 7 for it's superior audio, it'll be going back before my 30 day return window is up if there's no movement or any more acknowledgement from ZTE. Too bad, pretty great phone otherwise.
I intentionally turn off OK Google detection so my phone is doing one less thing, but it still is working and the options are disabled. I've only recently started to notice this. Tried to enable and disable the options again... no joy.

This may be painfully obvious, and I'm not trying to sound sarcastic at all, but:
Have you tried saying OK Google to see if it's actually working? How about just removing the widget from your home screen and replacing it with one that isn't voice activated? Or perhaps both..

Yes, it does work when saying OK Google. Also, would removing it prevent the mechanism on the backend that's listening from working also? Or would the service still be running?
I know that when I removed it, there didn't seem to be any listening going on. I think it uses this process in Maps as well as a couple other GApps, so after removing it you can try it in there/disable it in there as well. If you have root, you can always freeze it with TB. I completely removed it from my phone, so I don't have it to play with to try to find these things out. That's always the first thing I do, so I know very little about tinkering with system apps without root.
You can enable OK Google in settings.
try disabling your google account in settings.
