Im trying to carrier switch my U1 to ATT, but my U1 is already on BL5. A quick search of ATT tells me that the latest FW is currently G950USQU5CRG3 as cited here https://www.att.com/devicehowto/tut...3?make=Samsung&model=SamsungG950U&gsi=iqel_vM
Does anyone know if this FW is leaked for download? Or if I flash the sprint fw with this build without userdate if the att bloat will install based off my sim? (i need carrier features)
You can flash CRF5 still and be fine. The bootloader didn't change and that's what matters.
If you download it from updato.com and download say, the VZW labeled firmware it will essentially be the same as all carriers are included. When you flash it, sensing your sim card's carrier it will install the proper files.

So I got an ATT S8 the G950U version. I unlocked it via ATT with their unlock code.
since then using it on Indian carrier Airtel. I am not been able to get any software updates. Whenever I check for the updates it says its up to date. But its stuck at build number G950USQU1AQC9 and security patch of 1 march 2017.
How do I update this? Do I need to flash ATT software via ODIN? but I need to retain the unlocked status.
You wont get OTA unless you have an ATT sim in it i Think. Just flash G950U1 firmware which is the unlocked version sold by samsung.
I bought a sprint s8 and flashed G950U1 firmware and using on Airtel. Moreover you wont have any carrier bloatware.
It seems Smart Switch also updates when applying initialize. Not connecting your phone before starting up SS gives you the option to input model - and serial #.
And to my knowledge, once unlocked (free to use any SIM) stays unlocked.

Did you flash it with Odin? AFAIK its the only way for snapdragon models. Been away from android tinkering for a long while. Can you point me to relevant threads?
P.S. Are you able to get OTA now?
I have a similar issue but in the UK. Can't see OTA updates and it says up to date in Smart Switch. Is flashing the stock firmware risky or break knox? What are my options?
Search Updato.com for the latest G950U1 firmware. (XAA version is the best region to use in your case). Use THIS version of Odin to flash: http://dl.psouza4.com/android/Odin3_v3.12_PrinceComsy.zip
You will not get updates normally if you don't. Your phone is trying to contact AT&T servers but you don't have their sim card so it's not going to let you download it.

Be careful, the latest u1 firmware is a rev2 bootloader. It will probably be rootable like the n8 one is but no one has confirmed yet. There are also no ready to flash rooted ROMs with it
Root is worthless anyway.
As the title says, I download G950U1 firmware from update.com for XAA/XAC carrier (unlocked carrier). But then I noticed some sprint related system hidden apps in apps settings. So, I decided to download T-Mobile G950U1 firmware. But I was surprised to know both download files were same. I thought it might be the name which is same, So, in order to verify I checked the MD5 of both files and they were same as well.
Here are the links for both firmwares.
T-Mobile
https://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=461107208CD211E89F15FA163EE8F90B
XAA
https://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=581DBD798CD211E89F15FA163EE8F90B
As you can see links for download page are different but if you keep cursor on download button for a few seconds and then copy actuall download links then they are same on both pages (Not sure if this is case with all G950U1 firmwares)

Does anyone know why is so? And I wanted to cross flash from G950w to G950U1 to get rid of carrier bloat and useless apps permanently, that's why I downloaded these firmware. Currently I'm running that mentioned firmware.
This won't help your issue at all but I have an unlocked S8 with the unlocked firmware on ATT and can't get VoLTE, WI-FI Calling, etc. so check to make sure you can get those on unlocked firmware on your carriers network if they're important to you.
I have a Sprint Galaxy s8, but I am no longer on Sprint.
Is it possible for me to flash the unlocked ROM, effectively making it SM-G950U1?
My current build nnumber: R16NW.G950USQU5CSA4
I'm hoping when it's available I can flash to the Pie version of G950U1.

Only if Sprint unlocked the device through uicc unlock. If you flash u1 on a locked it's still stuck to the original carrier. As for guides there are several guides in the general section for carrier switching

Yes it is. I just did it yesterday. I was on G950USQS5CSB1 and didn't get wifi calling or VoLTE on Mint Mobile but after flashing G950U1 I now have them.
Since you say you are no longer on Sprint I assume you just want the unbranded G950U1 firmware.
Using samfirm on your computer putin G950U1 as phone and XAA as CSC and search. You should get G950U1UES5CSB2. It is the latest and has the same bootloader as you. Download it.
Download and use the 3B modded version of Odin.
Back up your phone as it will be wiped.
study here how to use Odin..... there are many guides
Use the CSC file not Home_CSC.
Have the sim of your current carrier in the phone when you flash.

This is exactly what I'm doing. Switched to Mint, but don't heav Wifi or VoLTE. Glad to hear that G950U1 works with both those (was worried I would have to flash TMO to get it).
Thanks again!
I have a Verizon SM-G975U with the firmware G975USQS2ASGB, Now i just switched over to T-Mobile and would like the T-Mobile firmware on my device since while I get service, it is not as good as my family members galaxy s10+ from T-Mobile and putting the T-Mobile sim card in when I switched didn't updated my firmware. How do I go about doing this since I am new to firmware flashing. Is sammobile.com a legit site? do I download the firmware there and follow their instructions? I would love it if someone would give me dumbed down instructions on how to do this without bricking my device and preferably not having to do any factory resets but if I have to I will and just restore my smart switch backup, thanks for any help.
There is another thread with flashing instructions. You need to use the modded Odin, not the official version.
I think if you are already on carrier firmware and want to switch your phone to a different carrier firmware you need to flash U1 firmware and convert your phone to carrier free/unlocked before you can convert to the U firmware from a different carrier.
Sammobile is a legit site but there are no guarantees you won't brick your phone when flashing firmware using unnoficial software like the modded Odin.
But the chance of bricking is small as long as you don't flash incompatible firmware. Flashing T-Mobile firmware (with the T-Mobile User Data file) over firmware that is branded for a different carrier will probably brick your phone which is why you need to flash U1 firmware before switching to a different carrier firmware.
I bought an S10 plus off ebay. It is carrier unlocked but, I can't seem to figure out what carrier it was on before or even if it's a carrier branded phone. It's on android 9 and won't update over the air to 10. I know I'm going to have to update it manually using odin. I'm using it on verizon and right now, wifi calling and VOLTE is working. I want to keep these features. So, I'm pretty sure I need to download the the vzw firmware from sammobile. Can I flash this right over whatever is on it now? Anything special I need to know? Will the current version of odin work or do i need the patched version? Any possibility of keeping data?

Anything special I need to know? Make sure you download the latest Verizon firmware.

Any possibility of keeping data? If the HOME_CSC file is available with the firmware, you can keep your data. If not it will wipe your data and factory reset the phone.
